When the Moon Met the Sun: The Ashford Saga: Book One

Rate this book
A princess turned pawn, an arranged marriage, and a discovery of secrets.

On a continent teeming with empowered fae, nineteen-year-old Princess Aviva Heartshire simply wants to live out her days in the North with her twin and her best friend, serving the people of her beloved kingdom the best she can with her elemental abilities. However, there’s a big difference between what she wants, and her reality.

To end the centuries-long war, Aviva’s father forces her into an arranged marriage with the King of the South — her people’s enemy. She’s been taught her entire life to despise the people of the South, and has a special sort of hatred for the Southern King and his lineage, as they’ve personally overseen her people’s slaughter in this war. A marriage to him is the last thing Aviva planned for — she never wanted to be used as a pawn in her father’s games.

As she learns more about the lush kingdom and its young king, she’s torn between two decisions: stand firm in what her father has taught her for her entire life — that the Southern King and his people truly are the enemy — or take the risk of trusting her soon-to-be husband, and embracing her role as his Queen.

Follow Aviva's journey as she unravels her family's secret past, navigates the uncertain future, and finds unexpected love in the present.

This was a story that captivated me from page one. I loved it and cannot wait for more!

Aviva is the daughter of the king of North, the folk of the skies - winged fae. She has a griffin and she wields elemental powers typical for her people. Even though she is a princess, she is kept out of the loop of all matters of state, as her twin brother is the heir. Her father wants to hide her powers from everyone and decides to marry her off to the enemy to secure a peace treaty between the North and the South. The king of the Southern fae agrees and Aviva is hauled off to a new life among fae she has, for all her life, thought of as a feared, cruel enemy.

She must find out for herself what about her previous life was true and what was lies. And in the process she needs to figure out who can be trusted and who can she allow to become close to her.

This starts out as an arranged marriage / forced proximity story with additional themes of (self) doubt, betrayal and a traumatic childhood. But the story evolves quickly into a story of self-discovery and slow, sweet burn. (Mind you, no spice to mention here.)

Aviva’s a mere pawn in the game of her father’s power politics, but her newlywed husband is the one who makes her a true queen. There’s a whole unappreciated - appreciated dichotomy going on in the story. And I find it interesting to read about a character who suddenly has to re-evaluate herself and her own worth in the world. In her self doubt she’s quite relatable.

The story is pretty straight forward fantasy in the sense that the storyline follows Aviva’s pov all through the book. The magical system is interesting and the world building is sufficient without being overbearing. As a reader I felt like I understood the basics of the world pretty quickly, at least enough to enjoy the story right from the beginning.

Sure, some people might think there were shortcuts taken in some bits of the story (for example when Aviva learns about her powers), but I found it rather refreshing that in order to be able to control her powers she didn’t need an extra 200-page quest within the storyline to learn the stuff.

I am ever so grateful to the author for allowing me to read her novel as an ARC for an honest review. This is my honest review and I have already ordered the physical book into my own shelf. I loved this enough to give it a forever home.

This was the kind of fantasy that hit all the marks! From the very first chapters, I was instantly swept into a world of unique magic, secrets, and slow-burning tension. I felt so connected to the characters and the story that I genuinely didn’t want to stop reading - every page had me hooked!

I'm beyond grateful to have received an ARC of this book, because wow...what a journey! I knew I would enjoy it, and I did. This was exactly the kind of fantasy book I was looking for.

The magic system was so unique and vivid, and the way the FMC (who I absolutely adored!) wielded her powers was just amazing. Watching her evolve - not just as a magic-user, but as a leader, a princess turned queen, and a woman trying to find her place in a kingdom that saw her as the enemy - was both powerful and inspiring. Her inner strength, growth, and quiet defiance had me rooting for her the entire way through.

And don’t even get me started on the MMC! He’s easily one of my new favourite male leads. Protective without being possessive, strong yet emotionally vulnerable, and his connection with the FMC? So wholesome! Their relationship was filled with the sweetest moments and subtle tension that slowly bloomed into something so wholesome. 🫶

While the story starts off fairly slow-paced as the FMC adjusts to her role of queen in the enemy kingdom (yes, QUEEN of the enemy kingdom — the stakes are so high!), the build up is so worth it. The political intrigue, magical lore, and the gradual unravelling of secrets all come together in a beautifully layered plot. And just when I thought I had a grasp on everything - BAM - the twist at the end.

And let’s talk about that ending...that subtle cliff-hanger! One mysterious appearance changes everything, answering some questions but raising so many more. I already need book two - I’m seriously so ready to be connected to these characters again, and revisit this amazing world!

If you love a magical slow-burn, a richly built fantasy world, characters you can connect with, and a heroine who you will root for right from the beginning, When The Moon Met The Sun needs to be on your TBR. Alaina Hope is definitely one to watch, and I cannot wait to see where this story goes next 💫 4.5 stars!

Two warring elf clans meet in our protagonist, who is a super special magic user whose father for its her from using her powers because it would overshadow her beloved twin brother, who has no magic. Dad is also drugging her to suppress the magic from the other clan that she inherited from her mother.

When she is sent to the other clan as part of a dastardly scheme, she has to learn to accept all of herself and be willing to act for what she thinks is right. But dastardly schemes have consequences, so I’ll look for the next book.

Full disclosure: the author is a grandniece of a friend, so I went in determined to like it. It has some first book flaws but nothing that wasn’t easily overlooked.

Just finished this story in 24 hours and I loved it. It’s such an easy fantasy story to follow but has so much magic that it’s so fun to see play out. Aviva is arranged to marry the king of their enemy kingdom and things could not be more twisted. There was so much intrigue and secrets that you won’t stop turning the page. The fact that she held a dagger to his throat on their first meeting already set the stage for the rest of the story.

I loved the found family and felt connected to each character. I can’t wait to see more of them in the next book.

Thank you to Alaina Hope for allowing me to be one of your ARC readers and receiving an advanced copy of your book in exchange for an honest review.

Alaina Hope's debut novel When the Moon Met the Sun is what happens when Avatar the Last Airbender, Sailor Moon, a dash of Frozen, Fae, world building, a different type of Magic system, and plot twists are combined into a romantasy that will leave you hooked.

The land of Inphis is divided between the Northerners and the Southerners, each of whom can wield certain powers (known as zirilium). The Northerners rely on the moon to help with their powers, whereas the Southerners rely on the Sun for theirs. Princess Avila of the North, our female main character, is her father’s disgrace and his hidden away from everyone. Her twin brother and healer in trainer (trokav) are her only friends. Plus, she’s hiding the fact that she can control zirilium.

Suddenly, she is used as a bargaining chip to broker peace between the two lands: marry Robyn (known as Byn) King of the South and live amongst the very people she was taught to despise all her life. As she learns more about her betrothed and the land they now rule, Aviva notices the dichotomy between both the Northerners and Southerners and that her prejudices against the Southerners was all propaganda and manipulation. As we read along, you can't help but root for Aviva and her growth not only as a magic wielder, but as a leader in defiance of everything she knew.

Her relationship with Robyn is so cute, especially when Aviva is defiant while he is patient with her. Once they're able to communicate and be honest with one another, everything changes and you can't help feel the slow burn between those two. "Sun and Moon" from the musical Miss Saigon is the perfect song that describes their relationship and the tone of this story. Now, with her newfound family, she finally learns what it means to be around those you love and nurture your own talents while being thrust into war and trying to solve the mystery of who exactly was her mother that she lost so long ago.

Can’t wait to see what happens next in the Ashford Saga.

When the Moon Met the Sun aspires to the scope and emotional gravity of epic romantic fantasy, yet it never quite rises above the level of imitation. The novel gestures toward depth—political intrigue, mythic stakes, forbidden love—but substitutes atmosphere and familiar tropes for genuine narrative substance. What results is a text that looks impressive from a distance but collapses under closer scrutiny.
The prose is serviceable but rarely distinguished. Rather than using language to illuminate character or sharpen conflict, it relies heavily on exposition and ornamental description, creating the illusion of richness without the labor of precision. Moments that should carry emotional or thematic weight are often flattened by telling rather than showing, leaving the reader informed of significance rather than allowed to feel it.
Characterization is perhaps the novel’s weakest element. The protagonist is constructed from well-worn archetypes, yet never interrogated or complicated in a meaningful way. Her decisions are dictated less by internal logic than by the demands of the plot, which makes her journey feel preordained rather than earned. Supporting characters fare no better; they appear when needed, fulfill their narrative function, and recede without leaving a lasting impression.
The romantic arc, central to the novel’s appeal, suffers from a lack of credible tension. Emotional intimacy is asserted rather than developed, and the progression from distance to devotion unfolds with mechanical predictability. What should be charged with longing and risk instead feels rushed and unconvincing, as though the story is eager to arrive at its destination without engaging in the complexity of the journey.
Ultimately, When the Moon Met the Sun is not offensively bad so much as profoundly unambitious. It borrows the language, structure, and aesthetics of contemporary fantasy romance without offering a distinct voice or perspective of its own. For readers seeking innovation, psychological depth, or prose that challenges as much as it entertains, this novel is likely to disappoint.

As an ARC reader, When the Moon Met the Sun completely exceeded my expectations and quickly became one of my all-time favourites. This romantic fantasy novel mixes an enemies (more one-sided) to lovers dynamic with an arranged marriage trope, but what really sets it apart is its incredibly unique magic system. The world-building is nothing short of mesmerizing, especially with the introduction of zirilium – a system of magic that’s tied to elements like crystals, plants, weather, and more. It’s the kind of magic I’ve never encountered before, and I couldn’t get enough of it.

The enemies to lovers arc is particularly fascinating from the FMC's side. At the start, she absolutely dislikes the MMC, but as the story progresses, her feelings evolve, and she grows to trust him in a way that feels natural and earned. Watching their relationship unfold was such a rewarding experience, and I was rooting for them the entire time. The arranged marriage adds a layer of tension that makes their journey from distrust to trust feel even more engaging.
Also, for once in a book, I loved all the outfits described! The author really has taste, and it shows in every outfit choice. From elegant gowns to more practical looks, every outfit was not only stylish but also perfectly fit the tone of the characters and the world they inhabit. It’s such a rare thing to have a book where the fashion is just as captivating as the plot itself.

Overall, When the Moon Met the Sun is a rare gem in the romantic fantasy genre, with a brilliant mix of intrigue, romance, and an unforgettable magic system. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh take on classic tropes. Five stars all the way!

Side note: THE MMC’S EARRINGS — I don’t know what it is, but I absolutely loved them! I guess I’m a huge fan of fae men wearing earrings 🙈🙈

When The Moon Met The Sun by Alaina Hope is the Sailor Moon meets fae Avatar the last airbender romantasy story I never knew I needed until now.🌙✨️ Mrs.Hope's writing style is truly magical because it has the ability to touch reader's hearts with it's inspiring messages.

This story follows the fmc Aviva a moon fae princess that agrees to an arranged marriage with the enemy sun king in order to bring peace, and stop a war that threatens to destroy both kingdoms.

Aviva's character growth throughout the story is very inspiring, and she learns to believe in herself. She eventually breaks free from her past allowing herself to heal. The mmc Robyn helps Aviva to embrace her powers, and always supports her.

The magic elemental powers in the story reminds me of ATLA,but with fae. Also love the Sailor Moon inspired romance between Robyn & Aviva.

The found family trope is written perfectly, and I loved personally learning about all the characters.Every character had their own personalities, and unwavering determination to protect those close to them.

Mrs.Hope knows how to write incredible plot twists, and I have to say that two of them caught me completely off guard in the best way. I cannot elaborate due to spoilers, but I will say that I am ready to learn more about the mystery character, and the secrets that Aviva will uncover soon.👀

Add this beautiful story to your tbr if you love these tropes:

1.Found family
2.Elemental magic
3.Arranged marriage
4.Trauma rep/emotional healing
5.Enemies to lovers
6. Strong fmc
7.Cinnamon roll mmc

Thank you Mrs.Hope for the opportunity to read Aviva's story, and I look forward to reading the sequel.😊

I love how Robyn is so protective and understanding and supportive of Aviva like I’m jealous but here is my review 😭✨

This book completely captivated me from the start! The main character's relationship with the prince is swoon-worthy, and their arranged marriage storyline is sweet. What I adore most is how the story highlights that family isn't just about blood ties – it's about finding people who truly care for you.

The element of each character having unique abilities adds an exciting layer to the narrative, and the chapter layouts are beautifully designed. The map included in the book is gorgeous! The blend of sadness and beauty in the story resonated deeply with me.
And I love that it is about healing trauma.

I also loved the enemies-to-lovers vibe between the two kingdoms, which adds an extra layer of tension to their romance. The "one bed" trope is handled well, and the romance is intense but no spice just super adorable and will have u giggling – especially when the male lead says "I burn for you"! It's moments like those that make this story truly unforgettable.

The moon and sun elements are a perfect fit for the characters and their relationship, adding a beautiful symbolism to the narrative. What I also appreciated is that this book masterfully weaves together multiple tropes – arranged marriage, found family, enemies-to-lovers, and more – creating a rich and engaging story.

And the best part? This isn't typically my go-to genre, but "When the Moon Met the Sun" truly won me over. It's a testament to the author's skill that they can craft a story that's both engaging and emotionally impactful.

Thank you to the author, Alaina Hope, for making me an ARC reader, and gifting me the book in exchange for an honest review.

I will say that the book is a very easy read.
The characters were kind of one dimensional. I enjoyed them but I was hoping they’d be more complex. I think Dimitri will be a character that has more depth and growth than others. I would always like to see deeper underlying feelings in the actions of each character. I love the romance between Byn and Viva. I’m honestly not much for slow burn so I’m glad they fell in love pretty quickly.

There wasn’t a ton of world building and that’s ok, it’s just a personal preference. I love flowery words that describe the fantasy lands. I love how it’ll set up the picture in my head and give the tone of the scene. I would like to see more of that, give me the layout of the land, describe the castle etc etc.

The writing was fun, but for me, as I’ve previously stated, I prefer more descriptive writing. I felt like the simplicity of the writing made the book go by way too fast and took away some elements that would’ve really added to the story and overall vibe.

The plot was real interesting, kind of predictable though. I am so thankful this wasn’t a miscommunication trope. There seems to be actual conflict and mystery behind the life of Vivas mother.I can’t wait to see what kind of twists and development the author has in store for the sequel.

Overall the story was very enjoyable and sucked me in from the very beginning. I am very excited to see the adventure continue in the next book.

When the Moon Met the Sun- Alaina Hope
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Coming July 1st!!!

First I’d like to say thank you @alainahopeauthor for this arc and for trusting me with this amazing story.

This is an enemies to lovers with an arranged marriage twist. Aviva is a princess of the North, her land has been at war with the South for as long as she can remember growing up with stories about the awful things they have done. In hopes of peace a meeting is set with the South where it is proposed that she marries the new king of the South.

With the deal stuck she rides into enemy territory to marry their king. In comes our MMC Robyn who she is very hesitant to trust and with good reason with all the stories she’s heard. As time goes on secrets and lies unfold changing everything she thought she knew.

Watch as Robyn and Aviva’s story unfolds and they begin to trust and rely on each other in ways neither of them thought possible.

I adored this story and the characters. While it did have a slightly slow beginning the world Alaina Hope builds in this book is amazing. With a unique magic system focused around zerillium, with everything from plants, to weather, to shadows everyone’s powers are unique to each individual.

Just when you think most things are tied up in the end we meet someone new who changes everything leaving us with so many more questions than before. The cliffhanger is killing me I need the next book asap!😩🫶🏻

“After all, sometimes you have to sacrifice those you love for the greater good.”

I had the honor of receiving an ARC of When the Moon Met the Sun, thank you Alaina!

I haven’t read a fantasy story in a long time but the enemies to lovers trope drew me in. The prologue alone was enough to keep me reading. The story revolves around Aviva(FMC), Princess of the North and Robyn(MMC), King of the South. They come into each other’s lives through an arranged marriage to help promote peace between their rivaling kingdoms. Aviva is cautious and untrusting of the Southern folks at first. But as time goes on Aviva begins to uncover familial secrets about her Northern roots while learning to trust and love her new found family in the South including her husband.

I absolutely loved the world building in this book! Aviva’s journey was laid out with such attention to details from the author. From describing the different lands, understanding the magic behind zerilium, conveying the characters emotions, and even adding the little elemental icons at the beginning of each new chapter! That was a nice touch to visually aid in tracking Aviva’s powers.

The pacing of the story went hand in hand with the slow burn romance between Aviva and Robyn. I was not prepared for certain events that unraveled near the end but I love that we got to meet new characters for the next book in this saga. Such a cliffhanger!

I’m so impressed by Alaina’s debut novel! It hooked me straight from the prologue. I flew through it in less than 24 hours and found myself eager to pick it back up every time I had to put it down (thanks, work).

We follow Fae Princess Aviva of the North, who’s forced into an arranged marriage by her father to Robyn, the Fae King of the South and her people’s sworn enemy. What starts as a worst case scenario quickly turns into a journey of self discovery and the unraveling of long buried secrets.

The magic system felt unique and easy to follow. The pacing worked well for the slow burn, and Aviva and Robyn’s bond felt earned. Robyn is such a green flag MMC, I was rooting for him from the start. I loved watching their romance blossom alongside Aviva’s growth. She went from guarded and distrusting to confident and skilled, and it made her arc even more satisfying.

I also really enjoyed the cast of side characters and was especially fond of the fashion moments scattered throughout. The last 20 percent kicked up the momentum and really raised the stakes. This was such a solid start to the saga, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!

Thank you Alaina for an ARC of WTMMTS!

I MEANNNNN for a debut fantasy romance to be THIS GOOD??? Someone pinch me!!!! This book healed me in my quest to find a book that makes me feel emotional & gives me a reason to cry.

Aviva, princess of the Northern kingdom has lived a life in the shadows of her twin brother to protect their family’s legacy. When the Southern kingdom proposes different tactics to create peace once more between them, the only plausible solution is an arranged marriage between Aviva & Robyn, the newly appointed King of the southern realm. Their love story is beautiful full of yearning and patience as they navigate this new marriage dynamic. We also meet the Southern Kingdoms most elite warriors and healers, and create the most beautiful found family, one that will undoubtedly have you sobbing multiple times throughout the story. This book was so unique, and beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend this book!

Themes:
🗡️: light political intrigue
💍: arranged marriage
💨: unique magic system
🗝️: found family

This book had been on my tbr for a long time and I finally just read it for a book club and I absolutely loved it. I love arranged marriage, one of my absolute favorite tropes, and had been looking for an arranged marriage story. I loved so much about this book. The romance was obviously my favorite part. Neither of them wanted to be in the situation they found themselves in. Aviva is resistant and untrusting at first because of what her people know about the Southerners. Robyn is patient and does everything he can to make her as comfortable as he can. Honestly, he's just the best and I love him. Bit jealous of Aviva actually that she gets to be married to him and I don't. The friendships and the found family are wonderful. I always love elemental powers and abilities that highlight the wonders of the natural world. This is just the kind of book that I had been looking for recently and I loved it so much. I heard there's a sequel coming soon and I can't wait!

Sun/Moon character dynamics, elemental magic, and MMC yearning?? What isn't to love? I'm seriously OBSESSED with Alaina Hope's debut.

WTMMTS opens with Aviva, a child of the sky with a haunted past. Challenging family dynamics and secrets keep her from being fully free in her idyllic Northern kingdom. Everything changes when she finds out she's been arranged to marry her people's enemy, the King of the South (0.0)

Fearing the worst, Aviva is nothing short of prickly in her transition to the Southern Kingdom, but that doesn't stop Robyn, our yearning king, from falling hard and fast.

Aviva goes on a whirlwind journey of self-discovery and has a super satisfying development arc. As you read WTMMTS, you fall in love with the world Alaina Hope has built, and every single complex character.

I'd recommend this debut fantasy to all lovers of fae, magic, tension, and trust issues : ) I can't wait for the second installment of the Ashford Saga!!!!

I didn’t expect this book to completely pull me out of my reading slump… but here we are.
Five stars. Fully obsessed. Emotionally invested in fictional people again.
This is the kind of story that hooks you from the very beginning, arranged marriage, a powerful winged FMC, found family, and a slow-burn romance so swoony it had me kicking my feet like a little school girl. It’s YA and spice-free, but the yearning? The tension? The feelings? Absolutely top tier.
The MMC was such a refreshing change, gentle, caring, and kind, with just the right amount of don’t touch my wife energy that made my heart melt. And the FMC? A true powerhouse. No damsel in distress here, she owns her strength and her power, and I loved every second of it.
Getting to experience this book alongside the author made it even more special. She was the sweetest, encouraged all my freak-outs, tears, and swooning messages

🧚‍♀️e-ARC Review🧚‍♀️

Rating - 4.5/5⭐

This story surprised me in the best way. The magic system felt fresh without trying too hard to stand out. It builds gradually, letting you settle into the world and the characters before things begin to shift. The dynamic between the leads felt natural a bit tense at first, but never forced and their connection had a quiet depth that I really liked.

Aviva's growth from a princess to a confident queen was incredibly satisfying. Robyn is a refreshing MMC kind, patient, and emotionally grounded which makes their romance feel genuine and earned.

I'd say the beginning is a little slow, but it Pays off with a powerful ending and one heck of a twist. Honestly, I need book two now.

Thank you, Alaina for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful ARC.

This was such a surprisingly fun & engaging read.

I initially picked this book up from my shelf on a whim and decided to read just the first page to see if I was in the mood, and boy, does this start with a bang.

The amount of emotion and story Hope is able to weave into such a short space of time blew me away. I loved the richly magical world, with a unique magic system and fae races, as well as her cast of characters, whom I eventually came to love and care for.
The initial story outline of an arranged marriage isn't a unique one, but Hope manages to make it her own very early on and keeps the reader (me) on her toes.

I had such a fun time reading this and can't wait for book 2 in the series.

If you're looking for a fun romantasy read with a unique world/magic system, this is the perfect book for you!

I was completely hooked from the very first page. This book was the kind of romantasy I needed — it hit every single spot perfectly.

The world-building was stunning and so easy to get lost in. I loved how real and emotional the FMC felt — her vulnerability and growth made her incredibly relatable. The chemistry between the characters was written so well, I couldn’t stop reading.

There were a few emotional scenes right before the battle that absolutely broke me. I won’t give anything away, but those moments hit hard. And the found family trope? Done so beautifully and full of heart.

I’m genuinely obsessed with this story and cannot wait for the sequel. I need book 2 so badly😭

Thank you so much to Alaina Hope for sending me this ARC — I loved every second of it!

This book was magical. I was instantly hooked. The world building and magic system were so well done. I loved the marriage tattoo concept. To me, how it was done was unique. I also loved Aviva for not being a stereotypical stubborn FMC. She is stubborn but not to the point where she isn’t willing to listen and learn. She was able to accept new ideas and other points of view. I also loved how the characters acknowledge that she couldn’t have become an expert with two weeks of training. I am obsessed though with the MMC Robyn. He is so down bad for her. He is so loving and patient plus a really good gift giver. Love him. I can’t wait to read more!!!

I know I say this a lot, but WOW! This may be my top book of 2025 🤭

There's action, there's romance (no spice), and it truly reads as a genuine Romantasy genre book.

Aviva, Princess of the North, is not all that she appears. She's powerful, but is forced to contain her power by her father. When she is betrothed to the new Sourthern King, she finally has the chance to grow into her power and become the queen she was meant to be.

I cannot wait for book 2. The ending was PERFECT. A slight cliffhanger, but you know it's not over yet.

I honestly have no critiques, and I will forever encourage everyone to read any and all of Alaina Hope's books.

Oh my goodness this book is INCREDIBLE. You get found family at an ACOTAR level (shadow spy included) 🙌🏻 A princess in an arranged marriage to the enemy king? Yes, please! Byn is the swooniest cinnamon roll MMC that I didn’t know I needed in my life. And, now I know I did 🫠 The caretaking, the protectiveness, the deep love, the “my wife”. Swoon! Seeing Aviva rise in strength and love made for the best story and she is an FMC that I absolutely adore. This is the sweetest couple 🥹 The big emotions in tender moments are just the absolute best. I could not love this couple more, or their found family that surrounds them. That battle was intriguing and well crafted, kept me on the edge of my see. I even cried at one scene in this book and I never ever cry in books - I guess I’ve seen too much 😅

So obsessed with this story! If you want a unique elemental magic system, cute relationships - both romantic and chosen family - and a powerful journey of self-discovery, then this story is most definitely for you! The whole plot was very well thought through, giving us mystery, secrets, and politics, answering many questions by the end of the story, while leaving space for more to learn in the next books. The final cliff-hanger also left me needing more, so I can not wait to see more books from the amazing author, Alaina Hope.

Thank you for giving me this book as an ARC to read and review. All opinions are my own and honest.

A brilliant introduction as book one in the Ashford Saga! I immediately fell in love with our FMC Aviva and the balance I felt between her gentle and soft kindness and her stubborn-headed badass qualities. The MMC is yummy, as are his friends 😏
If you read fantasy, this is a must read. Complex world building that’s still digestible, soft enemies to lovers, side characters you’ll actually care about. I am only a fan of the arranged marriage trope when it’s done well and people- THIS IS DONE WELL! Five stars and already deeply impatient for book two.

I love the idea of elemental magic and the fae. I also adore the Moon x Sun trope that’s in the book it’s something I’ve never seen before and I love it so much. I really enjoyed the powers and magic in this story. I also adore the characters and their interactions in the story, especially between Aviva and Byn. I love that family, especially a found family is a large part of this story. I am very grateful to have been gifted an ARC, and I highly recommend this book. I’d love to see more of these characters and this world.

What a magical and beautifully written story!
I adored all the characters and was so entranced by this story, I read it in 1 sitting! The way that magic worked and how the characters wield it was so fascinating, and I also found myself not being confused at all! (Which is rare for me I will say) the world building was so much fun and the romance between the characters was so sweet! The plot was also just really interesting and I could not put it down and I’m so excited for the next book in this series because that reveal at the end??!? I’m exited
