Catch: A Smalltown Romance

Rate this book
Catching her was my job... Keeping her was my mission.
The day I cuffed Loxley Adams and put her in my patrol car was the day I realized that the 9 pound bass I caught last summer with Gramps was no longer my greatest catch.

It was her.

Loxley wasn’t your average small-town speeder tearing through Harmony Haven, though. She was the Southern Songstress herself—a world-famous superstar trying to avoid her seemingly glamorous life. She wanted to hide, but instead of letting her run, I took her to my place. And the rules were simple:

• No one can know about my new roommate.
• Don’t fall for her.

Too bad rule #2 didn’t last long. She may have driven me crazy, but it’s hard not to catch feelings for someone who’s wearing my t-shirts, dancing around barefoot through the house, and looking at me like I invented the guitar.

Harmony Haven may be “Where Life’s a Love Song,” but it’s not where stars like Loxley belong, and I knew the day would come when she’d be ready to run again.

The question was, would I be able to let her go?

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Miles and Loxley’s story.
Loxley is a world-famous superstar, who is trying to avoid her glamorous life, and to find herself, which she finds in the peace she craves in this small town, but her speeding escapades have her cuffed in the patrol car by Miles.
This is a well written story which is an easy to read, slow burn, with found family, friendships, emotions, loyalty, roommates / lovers, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining, heartfelt, and light-hearted, small-town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This book is what I needed! The banter, the laugh out loud moments and the other emotions that came too. Miles and Loxley are right up there with my favorite characters.

Miles is a small town cop who happens to pull Loxley over for “speeding”. She’s running away from the stress from her manager and record label but she finds peace with Miles (and his lovely family.) I felt like I was right there in the story with them. 🩷

The spice in this book is everything. 🔥

I can’t wait for the next book because I’m 99% sure I’m going to fall in love with West too.

Loved this small town romance! Loxley and Miles seem like they are worlds apart but they work. When she needs a break from her life, he's there to pick up the pieces. Their chemistry and banter is what kept me going. Such a good read!

"He was something else. Something special. The kind of guy who made writing love songs feel as easy as baking apple pie."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don't know what it is about a romance about a big star in a small town, but it would appear I will eat it up every single time.

I immediately loved Miles and his family, as well as his caring and protective nature when it comes to Loxley.
Experiencing him be gentle with her and helping him heal her long-endured trauma, was really beautiful.

Loxley's experience and seeing her come out of her shell more and more over the course of the book was wonderful, and I loved seeing her confidence evolve over time.

Their whirlwind romance was fantastic, and this book was perfectly balanced with humour, spice, plot, all of the above.
Was I increasingly frustrated that neither of them would act on their attraction? Perhaps. But that's what we love: when the slow burn FINALLY burns!

"For two single people that were obviously attracted to one another, and were grown ass adults, we sure were idiots."

Thank you, Katie Rae, and the Author Agency, for the opportunity to read this eARC!

Catch - Harmony Haven Book 2 ) Have you ever picked up a series that just sucked you right in , in ways you never would have expected ? That had you falling in love with each and every character / couple from the very first book and where you found yourself completely immersed in the world the author has created ? That had the ability to make you feel so many different emotions you never saw coming? Everything from smiling and laughing out loud , to crying like a baby to actually being speechless at times and screaming outta pure frustration during others . That had you cheering so freaking hard from start to finish, Kinda like being on the craziest ride at the amusement park !!! you know that feeling you get in your stomach from being excited and nervous at the same time - the anticipation of whats to come next ? Well this series has without a doubt become that series for me . Not to mention delivered all of the above in spades ♠️. This time around we are getting Loxley and Miles epic love story and oh man did I so quickly fall hook line and sinker in love . The way Miles and Loxley hooked me , the connection I felt to both , the way their journey pulled on all my heartstrings , the degree to which I ended up devouring every single word and yes even losing track of time . Because it’s just that addicting. Honestly no words can even start to express how phenomenal this story really is . A music Superstar and a Smalltown police officer !!! Two people who are complete opposites, two people who weren’t even looking for love , are brought together in the most unexpected of ways . Sometimes fate actually does come through.

“And I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was diving headfirst into something far messier than I was prepared for.”

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start with this book.

I suppose I should begin by saying that this was both the first book in the Harmony Haven series and the first Katie Rae book I’ve had the pleasure of reading. And I’m not exaggerating when I say I consumed it like my life depended on it—I picked it up and didn’t put it down until I’d read every last word.

From the very first page, you’re almost guaranteed to fall head over heels for Miles and his chaotic, loving family. Now, I’m not usually one to fall for (1) cop romances or (2) southern gentlemen, but there was something truly magical about the chemistry between Lox and Miles that felt so real, so genuine, and so addictive.

We enter the story with Lox at her lowest, and Miles aching for something more—and in each other, they find exactly what they’ve been missing. There’s tension, secrecy, will-they-or-won’t-they energy, and more chemistry than should legally be allowed in a book. Every minute I spent with this story had me smiling, swooning, and full-on squealing.

Miles is the perfect blend of good guy and possessive dominant (in a very soft, vanilla-coded way), and I was absolutely here for it. Katie Rae may have just become my newest auto-buy author, because I seriously cannot wait to read West’s story next.

If you’re a fan of small-town romances with an Elsie Silver energy, do yourself a favor and take a trip to Harmony Haven—you just might find exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.

Thank you to The Author Agency for my advance copy of Catch by Katie Rae in exchange for my honest review. This is out TODAY!

Loxley has had it. She's in the middle of a tour and can't take it any longer so she does what anyone would do in that situation..."borrows" a car and takes off. She is unsure where she is going and what she's going to do when she's pulled over in Harmony Haven by Mr. Police Officer Easton.

Easton ends up realizing who she is and takes her to his house so she can lay low. He is determined to make sure no one knows she's staying there...as well as not allowing himself to fall for her. Will he be able to make both happen?

Things get a little dicey when his boss gives him information that Loxley is missing and he wants him to help look for her. He stays determined and lets Loxley do her thing. The swoon and spice in this one...but will there be a happy ending?

5 stars. This one is a quick read which will have you begging for more. It's the second book in the Harmony Haven series, but it is a standalone. You'll just get some bonus content with Easton's family if you read the first one (which I highly recommned you do as well!). It's out today, what are you waiting for, go snag it!

Loxley Adams country music’s princess has had enough. She is overworked and burnt out. When she hears her overly aggressive manager coming up with a plan to trick her into more shows, she finally takes action and drives off leaving him on the side of the road. Loxley heads back to a place where she finds peace only to get pulled over. Miles, the hunky officer who pulls her over, realizes she just needs a place to rest and volunteers his house as the place for her to relax. The two find themselves falling in love over the simple things in life, burning dinner and catching mice. Just when things seem perfect, her manager shows back up forcing Loxley to make some hard decisions. This was such a fun story. The banter was amazing and the family interactions make you want a family just like them. While they have only known each other for a few weeks, the love they have for each other doesn’t seem forced or too fast; it works perfectly with the story. I definitely recommend reading if you want a sweet and easy read!

Wow! What a page turner! I just couldn’t get enough of Loxley and Miles. He’s a small town cop, she’s a Country singer. Loxley just needs a break. She’s got a crazy manager. She really has no say so in what she sings for her fans. Doing tours, which she loves, she takes off to Harmony Haven. She never expects to run into Miles. Wait til you find out how. From the beginning I feel the sparks started.

Miles is definitely a family man. Sunday is spent with family at Grams and Gramps. Well now he has Loxley to take care of and hide. Hide from whom though? He is out to catch the kidnapper of Loxley while hiding a secret. They get along so well, laugh, have great times. The chemistry between the two heats up. They share stories about their life. Loxley is able to do something she couldn’t do before. In the end, what will happen to Loxley and Miles? Will he get in trouble? Can Loxley actually have a singing career that isn’t controlled? Wait til you find out.

Catch is small town cop Miles and music star Loxley’s entertaining and steamy story. It’s a well written, captivating read with characters I fell hard and fast for and it’s book two in Harmony Haven Series. I love small town romance and this read was just what I needed while traveling on a long plane ride.
When music star Loxley needs a break from the grueling tour and her demanding manager she runs to the last place she was happy and that’s the small town of Harmony Haven. Speeding into town she is pulled over by Miles and that’s when the fun and games begin.
I was captivated by this story and once I started reading there was no putting down. I loved the small town of Harmony Haven and its quirky, nosey residents, I fell hard and fast for Miles and all I wanted for Loxly was happiness. The chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty but it’s the family loyalty and camaraderie that took this book to another level.

I fell completely head over heels for Miles. He is sweet, kind and has a big heart and I’ve been waiting for his book. Loxley needs a break away from her jerk of a manager Sam to breathe and find herself again and he has more demands for her tour, she’s done and bolts with one place in mind Harmony Haven where she felt safe and at home and memories of the officer who helped her down the stairs and gave her a smile she so desperately needed. He was someone she couldn’t forget and the feeling was mutual for Miles. Little did she know that her escapades would lead her right to him. Loxley loves what she does, but right now she needs time to figure it out and Miles may just be the person to help her. I loved these two, and can’t wait for Wes’ book. Great addition to the series, I have to say I think Miles and Loxley are my favorite so far, but who knows Wes might just change my mind.

“I couldn’t ever remember looking at someone and feeling an instant magnetism the way I did with her.”

Okay y’all, I may say this a lot and a few of Katie Rae’s books are in my forever fave books list…but with my whole chest, shouting from the rooftops, Catch is her best book yet! I Beta read this book and I still can’t get Loxley Adams and Miles Brooks out of my head! The Brooks family is as lovely as ever; the clever banter at family dinner made me snort and they’re a charming, tight-knit bunch. Miles Brooks is a tasty mix of broody, protective, and green flag goodness…with a perfectly filthy side tossed in. Loxley Adams is a pop country star who's been run ragged and needs a break. He’s the duty-bound, genuine, and compassionate sheriff and she’s the runaway star finding herself. Catch is a witty, swoony, funny love story that will hit you in the feels and steal your heart. I can’t wait for more of this series!

Let me catch my heart after reading this one. Sometimes couples just fit, they don’t know why but they do. Miles and Loxley are one of those couples. An innocent touch after a concert… a need to breathe … a safe place to land… all lead to catching the biggest catch of their lives.

Miles is a small town officer who loves his family but knows something is missing. Loxley appears to have it all but she’s lost who she really is. These two found what they needed in each other.

I loved the way that Lox is just a regular girl trying to find herself. I connected with her so much. I loved that Miles was so protective and supportive. Their jobs were their identities and they were able to grow outside of the molds they were in and it was fabulous.

If you’re looking for a small town romance with some heat, a lot of laughs and an amazing family… this will be your biggest catch.

She is a rural vocalist, and he is a local law enforcement officer. Loxley simply requires a holiday. Her supervisor is unhinged. Regarding what she performs for her audience, she really has no control. She visits Harmony Haven for tours, which she loves. She doesn't believe she'll encounter Miles again.

A police officer from a small town named Miles loves his family but senses that something is missing. Although she seems to possess everything, Loxley has lost her sense of self. In each other, these two found what they required.

I loved Lox's depiction as a typical girl searching for her identity. I truly connected with her. I respected Miles's strong sense of safeguarding and assistance. They managed to escape the confines of their roles since their jobs defined them, and it was remarkable.

When Miles pulls over a driver for speeding he doesn’t expect to come face to face with country music star Loxley. He also doesn’t expect to take her home with him. But Loxley is running and needs a place to hide and Miles has just that. No one can know where she is and they can’t fall for each other. But that second rule doesn’t last for long. But reality soon comes knocking and Miles has to face the fact that Loxley will run again. But can he catch her again this time?

Yeah so I loved this! Small town cop and country music star. A touch of the forbidden. It had all the vibes and I was here for it! I need to go back to read Easton and Jesse’s story and get ready for West’s story because I’m obsessed!!

Harmony Haven is a place I could live, small town, nosey neighbors, and a grapevine with the speed of light. All the charm of a small town and its quirky residents.

I fell into Miles and Loxley’s story and did not want to leave. Loxley is a music star who is tired, she just wants to rest, she is done with her tour, and as she hears about an extension, she takes matters into her own hands. She plans to return to Harmony Haven, but Miles, a local cop, pulls her over first. Their story takes off from there!

The dynamic between these two is fun, with chemistry sizzling, and banter hilarious. Add in the small town charm, and putting the book down was tough. I was only 50% in, and I was already recommending this book.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Slow Burn Perfection!

I received Catch by Katie Rae as an ARC and dove in without realizing it was the second book in the Harmony Haven series. But no worries—it absolutely works as a standalone! That said… book one (Done) is now firmly on my TBR.

This book is a beautifully written slow burn romance that had me hooked from the start. A runaway country music star looking for an escape and an officer with a badge (and a heart) collide in the most unexpected way. Cue the forced proximity, tension-filled moments, and chemistry that sizzles on the page.

The pacing of the romance was chef's kiss—just the right amount of angst, healing, and heart.

If you love small-town charm, guarded hearts, and a slow burn that pays off, Catch is your next must-read. Katie Rae knocked this one out of the park!

If you've been around my page for any length of time you know that I absolutely adore Katie Rae. She just writes such amazing love stories and I will devour anything she puts in front of me. She's probably the author who has gotten me to read outside of my normal comfort zone the most and for that I am so grateful to her. She's definitely broadened my horizons. ;)

Catch was no exception. I am just in love with this series and this small town of Harmony Haven. If you're looking for some feel good vibes, then please do me a favor and check this series out. She had me hooked on Miles & Loxley's story from page one. I didn't want to put this book down and I also never wanted it to end.

I loved getting to see more of Easton, Jesse and Max and the whole Brooks family. I am so curious about West's book and I can not wait to have my hands on that one this fall!

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Loved Miles and Loxley's story, from their first meet which was funny and sassy, to their relationship (which progressed from strangers to friendship to so much more), to the way they learnt to trust each other and helped the other heal. I loved that it had a sizzling slow burn as it was all the more satisfying when they finally give in to their attraction. Miles was a swoony protective sweetheart and Loxley was a lot stronger than she gave herself credit for, she just needed to have someone on her side. The Brooks family and Linc, Miles' best friend and all the small town feels was the perfect backdrop of this heartwarming, beautifully emotional story. Looking forward to West's story next.

I cannot adequately express how much I love this series. Both books have left me smiling so big when I finish them and I cannot wait for the next one.
Loxley and Miles were just so sweet. The banter was so fun and the small town and family antics were hilarious.
I love the dynamic Miles’ family has so watching Lox fit right in made my heart happy.
Watching her find her strength was lovely and watching him support her and not cage her was heartwarming.
I cannot wait for the next book, both so we can finally learn more about West, but also to get the epilogue for these too.
Highly recommend if you want a small town romance that’ll make you smile, with enough spice sprinkled about to add a to the interest.

She’s a rising country star. He’s a grounded small-town cop. Neither expected the collision.

Loxley has spent years on the road, singing songs she didn’t choose and following the orders of a controlling manager. Burned out and craving freedom, she escapes to the quiet town of Harmony Haven for a break—and maybe a little peace.

Miles never expected to cross paths with a celebrity, let alone feel an instant connection. But from the moment their worlds collide, the sparks are undeniable.

What begins as a chance encounter turns into something neither of them can ignore. But with fame always just a step behind Loxley, can love really find a place to grow?

Heartfelt, addictive, and full of charm—this is one romance you won’t want to put down.

I’m in love with Miles and Lox! A unique and beautiful story (with lots of spice) that pulls at your heart strings and makes you believe in true happy endings.

Loxley Adams, country music princess, needs a break and decides she’s only going to get that if she takes matters into her own hands. When she does, she heads to Harmony Haven going over the speed limit and into the handcuffs of Miles Brooks. Where that takes them from there is not the local jail. Now they are taking a path that can get both of them in a lot of trouble. The rest you need to experience for yourself!

Katie has woven another amazing story of love with a lot of sarcasm and steam!! Reading again…and again…and yep, again!

This second book in the series continues the story of Miles and Loxley. I enjoyed this small-town romance, where the two characters, despite their different backgrounds, complement each other perfectly. Miles supports Loxley when she needs a break, and their chemistry and playful banter kept me engaged throughout.

The writing is well-crafted, making it an easy read. It’s a slow burn that beautifully portrays themes of found family, friendship, loyalty, and love, along with elements of humor and witty exchanges between the characters. Overall, it’s an entertaining, heartfelt, and light-hearted small-town romance.

I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend.

Set against the backdrop of small town living in Harmony Haven...the name seems to suggest that all is fine and dandy. Take into account the life of a close family Sunday dinners and the fact that everyone seems to know, or want to know your business. Tramps also seems from the start to be in the know, especially with his fishing analogy.
Great characters, well written, a romance between two different people w with different jobs and responsibilities. Miles, local cop, chases the bad guys and Loxley, country singer, chases her dream. His is to control, acting within the realms of law and order and hers is being controlled within the realms of music industry and pleasing fans. He provides the haven, protecting from the chaos around her. Love their introduction and budding romance.

Light yet so sweet and so entertaining...
My cheeks still hurt from how much I smiled the entire reading this book.
Sometimes I need this kind of book. Cheesy, little bit drama involved, and much sweetness in between heavy matters books and/nor long pages books.
I loved how there was basically just little to no miscommunication between Miles and Loxley. They were mature enough not to be dramatic.
I loved the dynamic of small town and Miles' family. I loved the found family aspect so much. I don't read the first book beforehand, but I would definitely read it. And can't wait for the third book.

I voluntarily leaving an honest review for this ARC. The way I jumped for a small town romcom! This was great and I got to know a new author. Loxley, a music star, is looking for a place to catch a break. She makes it on the road to the small town of Harmony Heaven, where Miles pulls her over and finds out who she is and that she is looking for someplace quiet to regroup from her tour. Miles of course becomes protective and offers to help Lox and takes her home. There she finds peace and witty banter from Miles' family. This is a book you should miss reading. I’m glad I was able to get this book in an arc and want to continue reading other Katie Rae books.

Catch is the second standalone in the interconnected series of Harmony Haven and I absolutely loved it!! Miles and Loxley have some seriously hot chemistry and hilarious banter. I was engaged and intrigued from the start. The plot was well thought out, the story flowed, and the side characters added depth. It's probably because I've been watching The Rookie, but I totally pictured Miles as Tim Bradford (Eric Winters) with John Nolan's (Nathan Filion) personality. But Loxley, she's a Carrie Underwood/Miranda Lambert/Taylor Swift combo. Definitely some tender moments and some steamy ones too! Overall a great, fun, easy read by the talented Katie Rae!!
