I received a free copy of, Fireworks at Pennycress Inn, by Sarah Hope, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book three in the Pennycress Inn series. Polly is up for change, she gets a job at a nature reserve, where her ex colleague also was just hired, having Zac here was not part of Pollys plans. This was a very pleasant read, I liked the characters and loved the location.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. Polly moves to take a possible promotion on a wildlife reserve but little does she know her enemy Zac is also in the running for the same promotion. This was a classic enemies to lovers with no third act break up. This was so cute! I loved reading this!

Polly is ready for a new change in her life. Moving and starting a new job is only the beginning. Much to her surprise a former coworker is also working there too.. This is book three in this series. It’s an easy to read book. There’s some light romance too. It was a little predictable but also an enjoyable read

Fireworks at Pennycress Inn by Sarah Hope is another lovely, comforting return to the welcoming world of Meadowfield and the much loved Pennycress Inn. This third book in the series delivers exactly what I look for in a cozy romance and can easily be enjoyed as a standalone, though reading the earlier books makes the experience even richer.

This time the story focuses on Polly, who is ready for a fresh start after a difficult period in her life. Leaving teaching behind, she arrives in the Cotswolds to begin what she believes is her dream job at the local nature reserve, complete with the promise of a promotion. Pennycress Inn becomes her temporary home as she settles into village life, and it quickly feels as warm and familiar as ever. That sense of community is one of the strongest parts of this series and it shines throughout the book.

Polly’s plans are immediately complicated when Zac enters the picture. An old colleague with unresolved history, he is not only working at the reserve but competing for the same promotion Polly thought was hers. The resulting tension creates a gentle rivals to lovers dynamic that unfolds at a steady, cosy pace. There is awkwardness, frustration, and unspoken feelings, but also kindness, growth, and genuine emotional connection as the story progresses.

The setting is beautifully done, with the nature reserve, autumn atmosphere, and village events adding charm and depth without overwhelming the romance. I especially enjoyed how the story explores new beginnings, career changes, grief, and self belief, all wrapped up in a comforting, easy to read narrative. Familiar faces from earlier books appear too, making it feel like catching up with old friends.

Fireworks at Pennycress Inn is a warm, gentle, feel good romance that’s perfect for curling up with on a quiet day. If you enjoy small town settings, cosy community vibes, and slow burning romance with heart, this is a lovely addition to the Pennycress Inn series and one I would happily recommend.

This is book three in the great series set around Pennycress Inn by Sarah Hope. It can certainly be read as a stand-alone book but if you read the previous books it also gives you the background stories of the characters.

Polly Burrows is on her way to a new job in the Cotswolds village of Meadowfield as the project manager at the nature reserve. But things don't go as planned and she gets offered a different job when she arrives, one she is not too pleased about, especially when she finds out that Zac Sinclair is also starting a new job at the nature reserve too. But when she realises that they're both hoping for the same job to be offered to them, she definitely is not pleased and then to top it all Zac is also staying at Pennycress Inn! What can she do to secure the job she would love to have? Also she has on her mind the sale of her grandparents flat, until she can sell it she is virtually homeless! But it needs such a lot doing to it and with work pressures she is really worried. But things don't go as planned, she desperately needs help with sorting out and removing her grandparents possessions. But there is someone there to help and assist her. Someone she is suddenly realising that she can't possibly live without!
As autumn arrives and bonfire night is just round the corner, it's all hands to the deck in the village to make the event a success. Can the village pull together or will one certain animal spoil the event?

This is a lovely cosy read, just right for snuggling up in your favourite chair with your cosy blanket and immerse yourself once again in the lovely village of Meadowfield.
A great cosy five-star read, and I can't wait to catch up with the residents of Meadowfield again in Book Four.

This is the first book that I have read by the author and I will definitely go back and read the rest of the series. The story was heartwarming and the perfect book to read at this time of year. I loved the place settings in the story and there was a great cast of characters. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author.

I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me the privilege of being able to read this book. I truly appreciate it.

I've had the absolute privilege of being able to arc read the previous book in this series. I do have to say now reading a second one in this series that you most definitely can read this series independently of the others. It was just a lot more fun reading this book, with some prior knowledge of a few characters from the previous book though.

Having said that thought, for some reason for me the romance was off this time. I loved both Polly and Zac but despite previously knowing each other they didn't seem to truly have actual personal conversations in this book. It went from two slightly awkward short conversations to them being together. Then everything after that just felt rushed between the two of them, until the epilogue. I did still absolutely love being back at Pennycress Inn, and all of the fundraising and nature reserve moments were incredible and fun. Those moments were so much like what I loved about the previous book, especially with the inclusion of the escape artist sheep Claudette. But it was just the romance that was a little off for me. If you're looking for a fantastic book, that will whisk you away to a place full of incredible people, full of goodness and love, you'll absolutely love this book and this series!

Thank you very much again for allowing me the privilege of being able to read this book. I truly appreciate it.

Fireworks at Pennycress Inn
by Sarah Hope

I am absolutely excited to dive into Book 3 at Pennycress Inn! This story unfolds during the vibrant autumn season, filled with pumpkin spice, small-town charm, dazzling fireworks, and the captivating dynamics of a rivals-to-lovers romance. It's fantastic to reconnect with familiar characters and the lively locals of this enchanting village. I wish I could stay at Pennycress Inn with Laura, Jackson and Nicola.

Polly is ready to embrace a bold new chapter in her life. After years of balancing teaching and volunteering, she has secured her dream job at Meadowfield Nature Reserve, complete with the promise of a promotion in just three months. She has traded the stress of the classroom for the stunning autumn landscapes of the Cotswolds countryside.

Life at her temporary home, Pennycress Inn, seems idyllic—until her attractive yet infuriating ex-colleague, Zac, shows up. He’s also taking a position at the reserve and, of all places, he’s staying at the inn! His presence was definitely not part of Polly’s plan.

As they embark on their new roles, both discover that the jobs are nothing like they were promised and do not align with their areas of expertise. Compounding the tension, they are both in contention for the same promotion in three months. This rivalry sparks an intense journey filled with drama that drives the entire story.

My Opinion

Fireworks at Pennycress Inn is the third book in the Pennycress Inn series but it could be read as a standalone. This is such a lovely series and it was nice to return to some familiar characters. An enjoyable read with some great characters. A delightful and cosy read.

After juggling her teaching job and volunteering Polly take up a position at the Meadowfield Nature Reserve with a promise of a promotion at the end of three months, enabling her to get a mortgage to buy a property there. The only problem is when she arrives her arch-nemesis colleague Zac has also joined and also been promised the promotion as well. They have the three months to find who will get the promotion by raising the most money for the struggling reserve. This is the third book in the Pennycress Inn series but can be read as a standalone.
I felt sorry for Polly, not only had she split with her fiancé she had lost her beloved grandmother and was looking for a fresh start in Meadowfield. She couldn't understand why Zac, with whom she had originally been friendly, had turned so cold against her. Seeing how the two go about raising money was interesting, with their differing approaches to something which must be a struggle for all similar charities. Things gradually become clearer as the story progresses and you begin to see the reasons for Zac's attitude towards Polly. Meadowfield itself sounds like the type of place that I would love to live in, small but with a great community spirit. A warm, comforting story of the type that I really enjoy.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

This book is like a pumpkin-spiced hug in novel form—cozy, uplifting, and just the right amount of sparkly. Sarah Hope’s latest instalment in the Pennycress Inn series is everything you want from an autumn escape: crisp countryside air, a charming inn full of friendly faces, and a rivals-to-lovers romance that simmers like mulled wine.

Polly’s fresh start at Meadowfield Nature Reserve should be idyllic—until her ex-colleague Zac shows up, charming and infuriating in equal measure. With a promotion on the line and fireworks flying (literally and emotionally), Polly must navigate village life, career ambitions, and the kind of romantic tension that makes you grin into your teacup.

Hope’s writing is breezy and heartfelt, with just enough bite to keep things interesting. The Cotswolds setting is dreamy, the characters are warm and well-drawn, and the story unfolds like a perfect autumn afternoon—full of colour, comfort, and second chances.

A delightful read for fans of Heidi Swain and Sarah Morgan, and anyone who believes that love, like bonfire night, is best enjoyed with a little sparkle and a lot of heart

With thanks to Sarah Hope, the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is the 3rd book in the Pennsycress inn series, it can definitely be read as a standalone book, but I must say having read the other 2 books it really helps knowing the backstory of the other characters.
This book was every thing you could expect from pennycress inn series. Although alot of it was set at the natural reserve, it didn’t take away from that warm cosy feeling that the in gives or the picturesque village of meadowfield. After teaching and volunteering for what seemed like forever Polly was ready to take a leap and go for her dream job, then fingers crossed a promotion, and Pennycress in was the perfect base, Zac her ex friend and coworker was also unbeknown to her also going for this promotion, and was also staying at pennycress inn. Was the drunken kiss at pollys leaving party a mistake?
Claudette has a run for her money with Rolo the rat, altho as I was nearing the end I was upset she hadn’t featured in the book, but thankfully she makes an escape from the farm and shows up.
Looking forward to book 4

A delightfully cozy romance perfect for Autumn. The third book in a series, I haven’t read the others and found it fine as a standalone. Polly Burrows is moving to the Cotswolds Village of Meadowsfield for her dream job in at The Cotswolds Wildlife and Wilderness Trust. She’s looking for a fresh start after caring for her grandmother who has recently passed away. However, when she gets there she finds that her work nemesis Zac has also got a job and theres’s been a mix up in their roles.

The Pennycress Inn run by Laura, Jackson and Nicola sounded absolutely delightful with its garden full of fairy lights and autumn leaves, pumpkin spiced lattes and fruit cake. The village and its bonfire night was equally gorgeous sounded. I really wanted to have a mulled cider by the fire. The workplace sounded fun despite the mix ups. I enjoyed the intergenerational living aspect and the importance of grandparents for both the main characters. The romance was slow burn but I do enjoy the enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes. I’ll definitely be booking another stay at the Pennycress Inn.

This is the third book of the Pennycress Series and I have to say, they keep getting better and better…. I can’t wait to read book 4 next year.
In this book, we follow Polly as she leaves her teaching career and takes a position working at a nature reserve BUT when she arrives she finds out 1 - she isn’t the only one going for the job, 2 - she has been misled into the position she has been given, and 3 - the person she is competing with is someone she already knows who has also given up everything to get a new start including career.
When Declan ( the gent whose job they are both applying for) ends up setting them up to raise funding and new ways to bring income into the reserve as two different people who both have different ideas on how to do this - Polly uses her knowledge of how to make the reserve more attractive and accessible with more things to see and do whilst Zac goes with the only thing he seems to know - contact everyone he knows in the corporate world who has deep pockets.

I know who I would give the job to, but am I right?
Read the book to find out who is Declan’s successor.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

I read something in the Pennycress Inn series (I actually remembered the book where the guy came in to try to sell his uncle's house as fast as possible) which turns out to be book 2 and I missed book 1 which was why I felt quite confused about who the characters were - and proved myself right that I should read from Book 1! (which unfortunately was not available in my local library)

But having said that, I got to know Polly properly and her archnemesis Zac, and as I had encountered before - someone you thought was a friend, ended up fighting for your job/promotion behind your back until you find out somehow (usually through the hiring manager) and you feel very very betrayed. Worse so for Polly, as she had to uproot her life to move for the job.

But you have to find out the ending by reading the book of course. I am just happy Polly tried to make her best of the situation and didn't give up on the job/promotion because if you can do it, and your attitude is good, people will be able to notice it. (seriously - I can relate...) Never give up on yourself!

A new adventure at Pennycress Inn awaits, and this one will have you falling for the sweetest couple, with quite a few adorable animal cameos.

Polly is looking forward to the change she's always wanted. She's got a job at the conservation reserve in Meadowfield, far away from her previous teaching job and romantic entanglements. However, a shock awaits her when one of those romantic entanglements, Zach, is not just working at the reserve as well but is also vying for a promotion that she thought was hers! Suddenly it's not just her heart on the line, but also her future.

I've really enjoyed the first two books in this series. They tick all my boxes for british cozy romance, closed door romance ✔️ cute, cozy town with interesting townsfolk ✔️ and adorable animals ✔️. I may have squealed with delight when Claudette the sheep makes an appearance. Who doesn't love a crazy sheep that strikes terror in townsfolk? Don't know what I'm talking about? Definitely read the first two books in this series then!!

I really enjoyed Fireworks at Pennycress Inn. Zach and Polly's story ran quite deep with me, as I have recently lost a loved one, and it's a story I won't forget in a hurry.

In this third visit to Pennycress Inn we discover the local Nature Reserve and some new characters are introduced. Polly moves to the village to work there and is taking a leap into a new future, having left her teaching career for a new direction. This is partly after a bad break up. On arriving at her new job, she discovers to her horror that the post she was expecting is different to the one she aopplied for. Marketing rather than Education is to be her area. Even worse, she is expected to work alongside and compete for promotion with Zac, an ex-colleague with whom she has history.
Pennycress Inn offers Polly a comfortable base as she settles in which means that we catch up with some familiar characters. During the next few months, Polly finds that she has hidden resources as she is able to empathise with the locals and generate some sensible and useful ideas. Zac is harder to work out and there are one or two surprises in his background which belie the comfortably off young man Polly imagines him to be. With new starts and second chances on the agenda, this visit to Pennycress Innn is a warm and inviting read.
In short: New beginnings

*I received a free ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

If you have not read the previous books do not worry. Although those characters play a part in this story you do not need to know their backstories in order to enjoy Polly and Zac's story. My favorite parts of this story were those in which Polly finally started to believe in herself and showed that she could come up with and put into action really great ideas. Zac may have had the contacts, but she really understood the job and it showed. She did not need Zac to drop out of the running for the job, she more than earned it. I did not really understand/buy his reason for being so awful to her for months. And then everything was resolved in no time at all. They went from bitter rivals to hopelessly in love within about a paragraph. I obviously wanted them to work things out, I just thought it happened a little too easily/quickly. And then rather than just talk to one another they both go and make these huge decisions that would impact both their lives and their relationship.

This was a sweet story. Polly is following her dream of working in conservation full time and is posted to Meadowfields Reserve for 3 months with a strong possibility of a promotion at the end of that period. While there, she stays at Pennycress Inn and becomes friends with Nicola and Laura. Imagine her horror when, on the first day, she realises that her colleague, Zac (who has treated her as though he hates her for the past few months), has also been posted to the same Reserve, up for the same promotion, and also staying at Pennycress Inn! Things get decidedly tense until they're forced into an uncomfortable conversation and start to figure things out. It was lovely to revisit Meadowfields and Pennycress Inn, and even Claudette, the rogue sheep, puts in an appearance! A fun, fast read.

Fireworks at Pennycress Inn is a fun, rivals-to-lovers romance. Polly leaves her job as a teacher to follow her dream to work for the Meadowfield Nature Reserve. She has 3 months before her guaranteed promotion. She gets to Pennycress Inn to start her new adventure, only to learn the one man she couldn't get away from, has also been assigned to the Meadowfield Nature Reserve. And, he's vying for her promotion.

Polly and Zac are great characters. They get off to a rough start, especially with their history, and the competition to get to the promotion, but close proximity starts to shift how they act together. I enjoyed watching them tiptoe around one another, avoid each other, and then attitudes begin to slowly change. This is a lighthearted romance between two rivals and I loved watching their story unfold.

This is the third book in the Pennycress Inn series, however could easily be read as a standalone, although I would recommend them all.

Polly arrives at Pennycress Inn as her base as she starts her new job at Meadowfield Nature Reserve. Having given up her career in teaching for the position and the promise of a promotion in three months Polly is horrified when she discovers her former colleague Zac is also starting a new position at the reserve, is up for the promotion and is staying at the inn.

As with the previous books in the series, the lead character, Polly, is such a lovable character and you are cheering for her to get her fresh start, especially once Zac arrives. And as we get to know them across the book you can’t help but get a bit of a soft spot for Zac too.

I love returning to Pennycress Inn and visiting the characters we’ve met before, what I love about the inn and the village is that even as a reader I feel part of their community and wish I could be absorbed into the pages of the story.

Despite a predictable enemies-to-lovers storyline this book was such a great read. I enjoyed getting to know Polly and Zac, as well as returning to Pennycress Inn and the lovely community feel of Meadowfield.

I’m already looking forward to returning for book four.

This book is an absolutely delightful read that kept me hooked from the very start. Fireworks at Pennycress Inn follows Polly as she begins her work at the village nature reserve, only to find herself competing with Zac for the same promotion. Amid cozy village life and growing tension, she navigates ambition, belonging, and unexpected feelings.

I loved the way the author has built the characters, infusing the story with the right amount of emotion. The blossoming romance between the two main characters, set against the backdrop of lingering tension, is truly heartwarming. The characters also beautifully highlight the charm of a close-knit community.

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy cozy, small-town romances with gentle rivalry and heartfelt character development.

Firstly, thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC

This was my first time reading a book in the series. hiwever, I didn't feel I had missed something vital from not reading the other 2 books, I will, however, be seeking them out now. This book focuses on Polly, an ex teacher who had been volunteering in her dream job. We follow her as she moves to work towards a promotion at Meadowfield Nature Reserve. What she wasn't expecting was the person she had a kiss with to show up, too. The story follows how thing aren't always as they seem, and Polly finds out things she wasn't expecting. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

I am really enjoying the books in the Pennycress Inn series. Polly has enjoyed volunteering at a wildlife and wilderness trust while being a teacher and is excited to be starting a job at one of their other locations with the promise of a promotion in three months. After an awkwardness following her going away party from teaching, she is also happy to get away from Zac, who works at the main location, only to find out that he has moved to this location and is competing for the same promotion. The return of characters from the previous two books enhanced the story, but it does work as a standalone book.

Fireworks at Pennycress Inn was exactly the cozy autumn read I needed. The setting is so inviting you can almost smell the pumpkin spice and hear the crunch of leaves underfoot. Sarah Hope has a lovely way of writing about love, healing, and second chances that feels both comforting and real. I found myself rooting for the characters from the start, and by the end, I didn’t want to leave Pennycress Inn. If you’re in the mood for something heartwarming and feel-good, this is the perfect escape.

This was a lovely easy read. Polly has left her teaching job to change her career and work on a reserve. She’s ready for the change, but when Zac a guy he kissed at her leaving party is there for the same job she’s gobsmacked. Who will get the job? Everything about this book is lovely, the Inn where they stayed, the reserve they worked and the lovely characters that made this book. A quick heartwarming read. 5 stars. This was a sweet and cozy second chance romance read that flew by way too quickly for me. Not to mention that I'm seriously needing a real getaway to the Cotswolds, including a B&B stay with all the yummy foods mentioned. While this is the third book in the Pennycress Inn series, its my first to enjoy; definitely will be going back to read the first two books in the series now!
