Dirty Little Secrets: A Dark Billionaire Romance

Rate this book
Moving to New York was a chance to jump-start my career after graduating from college. I didn’t want to accept the job offered by the man I was dating, but I had no other choice. I needed a job. It didn’t matter that he couldn’t satisfy me sexually—he wasn’t the only man I’d met who couldn’t.
Then, a friend from work gave me a discreet club membership as a birthday gift. Nothing could have prepared me for what I’d find there—or, more importantly, who.
Xaiden. The owner of the company I worked for. A man who didn’t even know I existed.
Night after night in the dark room, I embarked on a passionate affair that was both daring and dangerous. As secrets began to unravel, I realized Xaiden was not only powerful but also deeply controlling. When he finds out who I am, will he save me—or destroy me?

While I loved the Hillside Kings, I didn’t love Dirty Little Secrets. For about 80-90% of the book Nori & Xaiden had a work relationship, she was his secretary. He was attracted to her but refused to acknowledge it because a man like him wasn’t cut out for relationships. So to get his mind off her he f***** another woman at his club, then returned another night to f*** someone, not realizing it was Nori, he was blindfolded and they agreed no names. Then another scene with Nori saying how he pulled a model like woman into his office and slammed the door- but it was never mentioned what happened. All the while Nori knew exactly who she was f****** at the club because she was wore a mask and recognized his tattoo. But she never told him. Then all of a sudden in the very last chapter he’s showing her how he’s attracted to her and wants her but still pushes her. Until something happens in the last couple pages and on the very last 2 pages he finds out it was her at the club, she’s telling him she loves him and he tells her he wants to marry her. WTF.
It was all too rushed and made little sense. There were moments I enjoyed and a lot I didn’t. I really didn’t enjoy seeing him screwing another woman and taking another one on a date. I didn’t necessarily care for knowing he pulled another woman into his office with Nori watching and then being left to wonder what happened.

Nori comes to NYC with her boyfriend because he offers her a job. Nori really dislikes her boyfriend but she knows she needs him, for now. Eventually, Nori is promoted to become Xaiden's secretary. Xaiden owns the company and isn't the boyfriend but Nori's boss.

Nori's friend gets her admission to a secret BDSM sex club to help with the unsatisfying boyfriend. Nori, of course, goes to the club. Nori requires her partner to be blindfolded. Nori recognizes who her partner is but proceeds anyway. While Nori knows who is behind the mask her partner does not find out for awhile. Nori and Xaiden have chemistry while working together but don't really act on it. Mostly, they're both enjoying their interactions at this club.

The last 35% of the book was very rushed for me. Nori and Xaiden were not in a dating relationship at all. Out of nowhere, Xaiden asks for more. I also wished that Nori's hacking skills were talked about more because that's how Nori actually became Xaiden's secretary. That small detail was never acknowledged by anyone other than Nori. It also seemed both characters were looking only for sexual gratification, but then suddenly they both wanted more? This book needed a little more cohesion for me. I will still read the next book Carmen Rosales writes.

I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily left this review.

Anything from Carmen Rosales I read in a heartbeat. This book totally captivated me, it had my whole attention hostage.

A girl who works at the company of a high profile billionaire. She moves to this town away from her home, Seattle because she lived a toxic life with her mother and needed to get far away from there. She had someone help her move but it came with a price and it seemed like she was never going to get off easily.

Once she starts working for Mr. Billionaire, she is very good with coding but gets promoted to being his personal assistant. And as much as he tries to stay away from her because he would put her life in danger, he can't help it. Little by little they start spending time together until the inevitable happens and they fall into each other's arms.

But when danger comes lurking, he is there to make sure she is safe and will do whatever it takes to protect her.

Can I say I enjoyed this book immensely. Carmen has a way with her stories and to me they don't feel repetitive and are always different stories. I also love her series, they are just so darn good.

Why is it becoming so difficult to find good books ?
The book was decent up to, let’s say the 50% mark. It wasn’t a good read, but a decent one. With a really slow pace and never ending cat and mouse game.

And then it all started unraveling, it really felt like the author just couldn’t wait to wrap up the book.

In like 4 chapters the MCs went from barely acknowledging each other, regardless of their feeling because they were too scared of the consequences, because of their past yada yada. To them being in a relationship in front of everyone, their secret being revealed without much of a reaction from the other person. And the MMC asking the FMC to marry him, just after 3 chapters of them being truly together 😀

The book is in serious need of good editing, because some mistakes were truly baffling. “Wear” instead of “were”; “And I shoot anyone between the eyes if they try to take you from.”; “Good, because it would hard to ask you to marry me if you didn't.”

A quick and steamy read from Carmen Rosales as a dissatisfied Nori receives a membership to Obsidian, a sex club and starts a relationship of sorts with her new boss Xaiden. The twist being Xaiden doesn’t know who she is down the blindfold he wears so is completely unaware that the secretary he’s becoming obsessed with, and his club hook up is the same woman.

I loved this authors Prey and Hillside Kings series which has links to Dirty Little Secrets, but her latest releases just haven’t been hitting the mark for me. I’m not sure if its because they’ve been of a shorter length, so the story and characters haven’t been allowed to develop the same as her earlier books, but this was a book I struggled to finish.

This is a steamy and suspenseful romance that centers on Nori, who is secretly involved with a mysterious man she meets at a private club. The plot really kicks into high gear when she discovers he is her new, and very powerful, boss, Xaiden. The book does a great job of building tension and keeping you guessing, especially since Nori isn't exactly an open book herself, with secrets from her past adding another layer to the story.

Personally, I really couldn't connect with Nori. Her attitude came off as very volatile toward her new boss, which was confusing since she was supposedly trying to impress him for reasons that are revealed later on. It made her a difficult character to root for.

It's a quick, fun read for anyone who enjoys a spicy romance with a bit of a cat-and-mouse game, but the main character's attitude might be a hurdle for some readers.

This book had me hooked from the first page and I flew through this story. I would recommend this book for anyone that is looking for a quick, dark romance. Carmen Rosales is my favorite dark romance author and almost all of her books are hits for me.
I am giving this 4 stars because I needed at least 2 more chapters at the end. It felt a little rushed. I know this is part of a series and I look forward to more from this couple. I loved this story. Nori and Xaiden were both great characters. The depth and complexity of both characters was so intriguing, I want more of their story. I would highly recommend this story and hope we get more from these characters in future books!

I enjoyed this book about Nori and how she gets a membership to a club and engages in a relationship with Xaiden, who happens to be her boss. I like the idea of them both having duel personalities, with them both being professional at work, but then letting-loose at the club and not realising who they are to each other… at first. I like the secrets and lies aspect.
I wish that Nori’s history is a bit more relevant, as it was the reason she was there in the first place. It doesn’t impact the story, but I feel it would have rounded her character.
I enjoyed reading this book and would love to read more stories set in this world.

This book was a really great dark romance and the writing was suburb. Xavier and Nori both have dark secrets that are not known to each other. Both escaping past that really doesn’t define who they truly are. Throughout all of this one thing holds true and that’s the fire between them. It’s a book of villains, ex boyfriends that is an abuser, friendship and a man who falls hard for the woman he cannot seen to get out of his head and she feels the same. This has lots of steam and an HEA you’ll love!

Good story!
Xavien meets Nori at a dinner where he realizes she's his employee. This attraction between them becomes complicated when she finds herself as his secretary. As they fight their attraction to each other, secrets, lies, deception and violence intervene.
Definitely a good read but would have been great if it was a full length novel.

Nori has a talent that comes in handy with her new job working with Xaiden. It’s not really talked about but it’s the whole reason she started working for him. Nori current relationship is dull which leads her to fame the offer to join her friend at a club. There she finds a partner that consumes her mind and body.

Please check CW and TW before reading this one. Ok this one was hot af. Nori has had a crazy life and it only get crazier when she gets a chance to attend that club. What she doesn't expect is to run into her boss there. While they wore masks there are still pulls to each other and things just get better and better for them after that.

Carmen Rosales is one of my favorite authors. This was a good read, but I do wish it was a little longer in length. I couldn't get enough of Xaiden! You get secrets, spice, and a plot that keeps you interested from start to finish. Highly recommend.

Freedom

Very short for the author. Just as great as the rest of her books.

Nora is desperate for freedom. She is caught between a man who thinks he owns her and her boss whom she is falling for. She has to betrayed X to gain her freedom
