Dare You to Make Me Stay

She ruined his pants. His plan? Get her out of hers.

Serena
Hockey is my sport. Football? I couldn't care less.
But when I get invited to a Washington Monuments party, I go.
My mistake.
One spilled glass of wine and a case of bad timing later, and the whole world thinks I'm servicing Austin Hawkes—their new quarterback and golden boy.
He refuses to clear my name unless I go out with him first.
I'd rather die. Until he kisses me.
Now, I'm seeing football—and Austin—in a whole new light. But his fans adore him, despise me, and they're louder than an entire stadium of hockey fans on dollar-beer night.

Austin
Fans have done some wild things to get close to me, but spilling wine down my pants? That's a first.
So are half the names Serena Abrams calls me when we get caught.
I should walk away, but there's something addictive about the way she looks at me like she wants to kiss and kill me.
Convincing her to give me a shot will take every trick in the book. Especially with my rabid fanbase acting like this is the fourth quarter of the championship game.
It's all good, though.
I always get what I want…and what I want is Serena in my bed, wearing my ring.

About the Series
These professional athletes have more than fortune and fame in common. They also share a father who never played favorites, a mom who swears they're all her favorite, and a wild fanbase betting on who falls first.

But avoiding love when you've sworn it off should be easy...right?

Not for these siblings.

Someone really should have warned them that happily ever after waits for no player. When it hits, these siblings will make waves in the sporting world. That is, if they can keep their lives together long enough to make it down the aisle.

Sibling Goals is a spicy sports rom-com series featuring alpha heroes who have it all (maybe?) and curvy heroines who think they know exactly what they want (dresses with pockets, not love).

Serena plowed into Austin at the right time wrong moment lol. She went viral over a photo and well Austin didnt wanna tell the press what really happened because he wanted her and whats a lie.
That was the only thing that made me dislike Austin. A photo of Serena on her knees looking like she blew him. Even when she asked many times for him to set the record straight he refused. "Funny", story but seriously it wasn't poor girl was harassed lost her job.  Yes he got mad and wanted to defend her but never once did he tell the media. So he did lose points for me.

Beside that it was alittle back and forth from the h. Spice was good. And we got 2 siblings coming up

I am absolutely in love with Austin and Serena!!! These two are all sorts of fire and passion from the very first drop of spilled wine 🔥! I love how obsessed Austin is and the somewhat shady... I mean genius lengths he will go to in order to get his girl. I loved the mouth on Serena, and not in an inappropriate way. That girl has so much fire and sass in her. The two of them together.. seriously.. fireworks. I could not get enough.

I received this as an arc from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This was a great instalove romance. It was a well written story that had a good flow. The storyline was entertaining and thought provoking with the harassment Serena endured. I liked her and Austin together, they had fantastic chemistry and the epilogue was amazing.

Austin Alaric Hawks is now the new QB for the last year for the Washington Monuments. He is required to go to the team party. And he hates it. There may be some athletes in the country—both in size and reputation, but he still cringed like a kid when his mama pulled out all three of his given names when she was irritated with him. He will never be old enough, tough enough, or large enough that his itty bitty mama wouldn’t make him sweat when she got that tone.

Dang. It. What could he have done this time to piss her off? He was seriously stumped. "What's up, Ma?" "What do you mean, you're not looking for love?" Ma’ cries into the phone. "I didn't say that," he protested. It's a lie. He indeed did say that. He has no intention of falling in love anytime soon. The team isn't paying him millions to lose his crap over a woman. They're paying him millions to bring home the championship rings. However, every time he even stands next to a woman the tabloids say they are doing the horizontal mamba.

So to head it off he made that statement. But he would never admit it to his mom. She's convinced all three of her kids hate her because none of us are married and giving her grand babies. Like me, my brother, Sidney, plays professional football for Chicago. And our baby sister, Sophie, is a ballerina, also in Chicago. Marriage and kids aren't on the radar for any of us. Ask Ma if she gives a sh!t. She wants grand babies. Yesterday. Last he heard, they were taking bets on which of us would fall first.

For the record, pitting three competitive siblings against one another in a race to see who falls first is guaranteed to have the opposite effect. He refused to lose to either of them. Fxck that noise. They'd never let him live it down. "You know you shouldn't be reading that sh!t." "You did the interview, Austin Alaric." "Not by choice." "Well, if you can talk to them, I can read what you had to say," she huffs, making him smile. "Yeah?" "Does Pop know that you're reading gossip about us again?

What'd he tell you last time?" "Mind your business," she growls at me. "Or I'll tell him that you were the one who wrecked his truck when you were seventeen.” “Ma!" "You're diabolical." No wonder Sophie is a savage. She gets it from our mother. "Have to be," Ma says. "I married your father and then gave birth to you and your brother. You're both just like him. And don't even get me started on your sister." "So…you're saying I'm your favorite, right?" "You were," she sniffs.

"This article is changing my mind." "Then stop reading it. I can't have the g-damn papers turning my own mother against me." "I want grand babies, Austin." Little did they both know they were both going to get their wish. Because regardless of what he said in the article Austin wants a wife, a marriage like his parents', and children. “If you kids wait much longer, I'll be old and decrepit." “Ma, you're fifty.” "It could happen," she says, a smile in her voice.

"You never know." "It's not allowed to happen. You have to live forever." "You're my favorite again." He grins, “I gotta go.” "What? Why? I'm not done bullying you into giving me what I want." I chuckle, not surprised. Ma is nothing if not honest. "Team party tonight." "They're forcing me to go." "Of course they are." Now it's at this party that he meets the redheaded tornado as she rushes out of the restroom nearly taking him out in the process. He had gone upstairs to get away from the typical models that were lurking.

She was fast. Serena Abrams, damn near tackles him, knocking him back like he’s a rookie linebacker. She latched onto his tie whether to save herself from a fall or Austin he wasn’t sure. All he knew was that her other hand was trying to balance herself out he was sure but unfortunately for her, she was getting close t his junk. His junk was for sure happy almost too happy as were his eyes seeing her upper torso. Something about her practically choking me with my own damn tie, only to stumble in her heels again.

She's a walking disaster. It would be funny if it weren’t so comical, so he grabs her hand close to her junk. However, there was no way to stop her before she sent them both plummeting to the ground, but there is no stopping a force of nature. Sending his glass of red wine down his pants, soaking through the fabric right over his crotch. It's a problem. His privates are standing at attention like he just heard the national anthem. "I'm so sorry!" she gasps, sinking to her knees in front of him.

Fxck me. "Sto—" Too late. Her hands are over my privates, patting at the damp fabric like she can sop up the wine. "Are you…? Is that…?" "My c--k? Afraid so." He glanced down at the hard mister. "He says hello, by the way." Welcome to their meet-cute. This was a funny, sexy, and yet soul-searching reality that those of us who have lived through parents' divorces may have dealt with. Or are you going through a divorce and realize what they may be putting their children through either way it's not pretty.

This character was and is affected by a past that bleeds into her daily life. Therefore, it is profoundly affecting her future with a gruff man who loves her deeply, and as much as it scares her she loves him too.

Dare You to Make Me Stay by Nichole Rose is a lighthearted yet emotionally grounded romance that pairs humor, heartache, and sizzling chemistry in equal measure. The story follows Austin, a professional athlete who would rather skip the glitzy social events that come with fame, and Serena, an office manager, who sometimes searches out modeling gigs, navigating her own insecurities and family baggage. When the two cross paths at a season kick-off party hosted by Austin’s team owner, neither expects their worlds to collide—literally and figuratively—thanks to an ill-timed paparazzi photo.

What follows is a series of laugh-out-loud encounters fueled by Serena’s razor-sharp wit and Austin’s endearing determination to win her over. This story does an excellent job capturing the dynamic between these two—Serena’s snarky, guarded nature perfectly complements Austin’s single-minded pursuit and genuine affection. Their banter jumps off the page, making every interaction both funny and touching.

Beyond the humor and romance, the novel thoughtfully explores Serena’s emotional scars stemming from her parents’ toxic relationship. Her belief that love must be painful adds depth to her character and makes her cautiousness with Austin all the more sympathetic. Austin, for his part, is refreshingly straightforward in his affection—a hero who doesn’t play games but still finds himself caught in a media whirlwind that often looks like it will derail what could be something real.

Ultimately, Dare You to Make Me Stay is a charming blend of humor, heart, and heat. Nichole Rose delivers a story that makes you laugh, swoon, and root for a couple who are as imperfect as they are perfect for each other. Fans of witty banter, emotional growth, and strong, determined heroes will find themselves thoroughly entertained.

"A hockey rink looks like a fishbowl because it's surrounded by glass, and we get to watch pretty things inside it." Yes Serena one of the truest sentences I've read 😂 this quote made me laugh so much

Nichole is kicking off the Sibling Goals series with Austin and Serena a sports instalove romance, where our MMC falls hard and fast for our FMC.

Austin keeps telling the world he's not looking for love, until a mandatory team party puts him in the path of Serena. One look and copped feel and he knows she's the one for him, only she's not interested. A little light blackmail from Austin to secure their first date puts the plan - get Serena to fall for hard for him in motion.

Serena is a no nonsense, smart, curvy and a sassy FMC. Her family dynamic has shaped her view on relationships, and made her feel she's unable to love anyone without causing harm. So when Austin beings his pursuit, she's hesitant to accept (despite wanting too). And even though Austin is a little full on, the way he supports, listens and provides comfort for Serena is a lovely thing to read.

Together they have a banterful relationship, Austin pushes Serena's buttons, and she pushes back harder and sassier.

This is book one in the author’s Sibling Rivalry series and it features Austin, the first of the Hawkes siblings to succumb to Mama Hawkes’ not so subtle prodding for them to fall in love and give her some grandbabies.

Not only is this book super hot (like all of the author’s books) with Austin, a star quarterback, all sweet and bossy, but it’s kinda funny too. Mama Hawkes, in particular, is a riot. She makes no bones about it… she wants grandbabies and she wants ‘em now! Her favorite child will be the one who gives her a grandbaby first. And the “rivalry” mentioned in the name of the series? It’s about who can hold out the longest and they’re each determined to come out the winner! It was a hoot! And oh my gosh, the many, many times (and locations) our two MCs were caught by the press in compromising positions were hilarious but they never seemed to learn… I wasn’t complaining though since it made for some really steamy times.

I almost forgot about Serena, our FMC; she was a survivor. In addition to an office job, she was attempting to get a job as a model on the side in order to make ends meet. It was in that pursuit that our MCs met and were caught the first time. She tickled the crap out of me! Smart mouthed and snarky, she was a handful but Austin, never intending to settle down any time soon, fell and he fell hard. Obsessed, possessive and protective, he was crazy about Serena and wanted the whole dang world to know it. Add unashamedly and unapologetically in love to that trio and you’ve got the perfect book boyfriend and one I could never get enough of.

This is a book that should not be missed—check it out TODAY! 5 stars

This is the 1st book in the new Sibling Goals series featuring Austin and Serena's hilarious, alpha-male, curvy-girl, emotional, insta-love, spicy, sports rom-com. From the moment Austin and Serena crash into each other at a party neither one wanted to attend the sparks fly and so does the banter between them. Austin is the QB for the team and he's got a rabid fan base which is part of the reason he keeps to himself, just football, gym and family. Austin's mother wants grandchildren and she has a bet between her 3 competitive kids on who gives them to her first but Austin has no interest in relationships. Until he crashes into Serena who spills wine all over his privates and while she tries to clean it up a photographer chooses to take pictures that make it look like she was performing a sex act. Serena who was just at the party to try to get a modeling job tells Austin to stop the photos from getting out but he blackmails her instead to go out with him. Serena refuses she's not interested in relationships or love after seeing her parents destroy each other and use her to do it. Austin won't take no for an answer so he kisses her and everything changes for both of them. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this hilarious, alpha-male, curvy-girl, emotional, insta-love, spicy, sports rom-com to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series which is my new favorite by Nichole Rose.

What happens when red wine, a hot football player and a clumsy, curvy goddess meet? The perfect rom-com book by Nichole Rose! Dare You to Make Me Stay is so cute, my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. I giggled, and my heart hurt for Serena. She never wanted to fall in love, love hurts, love breaks you, at least that is what she learned from her parents. Austin Hawkes, who stated he never wanted to fall in love and get married. That all changed when Serena spilled red wine all over him and according to the pictures that were all over internet, she was “servicing” him! Austin knew the moment he saw Serena on her knees before him, she was the one. And he would stop at nothing to have her, even resorting to blackmail to have her. I loved Austin, he is such a golden retriever! Serena is so fiercely independent, and I love her! “I would rather step on a Lego for the rest of my life than be seen with you in public again, Austin. I hope you get a paper cut on your tongue and have to eat a whole back of salt and vinegar chips.” She knows how to throw an insult better than any character in a book!! Loved this book!!!

The very definition of rom com, with the feel good happily ever after mixed with hilarious banter. Serena was a little savage and I loved her and her crazy mouth. Austin was obsessed with her immediately and had to have her regardless of how that happened. I wasn’t a huge fan of how he went about it to be honest, but he redeemed himself a little bit throughout the book. The banter was witty and they were both menaces in the best ways. A few editing errors that brought me out of the book a bit, and I wish we got a scene where Austin clears up the rumours instead of just saying he did. This was also the first book I believe by Nichole Rose that it wasn’t stated that the FMC was a virgin. Zero history was given on either of them, but it was both implied that they both weren’t virgins and also implied that they both were. So I’m really not sure which confused me. No cheating or OM/OW drama, dual POV, HEA and an epilogue 2 years in the future. Can’t wait for Sidney and Sophie’s books now and interested to see who the fourth book is about!

She Hates Football, and He’s the Quarterback!

"Dare You to Make Me Stay" is the first book in the new series "Sibling Goals," and I just loved it! The story kicks off with Austin telling his mom he has no plans of settling down, but then everything changes when Serena accidentally spills wine all over him—what a meet-cute!

Even though Serena isn’t a fan of football and isn’t too impressed with Austin at first, their playful and flirtatious banter had me giggling the whole time. The interactions with Austin’s siblings and teammates were such a highlight that I found it hard to put the book down! I really want to learn more about all the characters.

Honestly, I didn’t want Austin and Serena’s story to end; they were such a cute couple, and there were some super spicy scenes, too! I can’t wait for the next book in the series—I’m so excited!

This is book one of the Sibling Goals series and is about Austin and Serena.
If you’re looking for a fun and cute rom com, then this is the book for you.
Austin isn’t the cocky guy Serena thinks he is. He’s all about helping others and using his money for good…he even has a soup kitchen to help the homeless.
I really liked how Serena was so sassy and gave Austin a hard time just because she could. She is afraid to love anyone because of her parents and the drama they had.
Austin has seen what a healthy and happy marriage looks like with his parents. Right now, he’s focused on football and winning but all that changes when a spitfire accidentally spills wine all over him.
He falls hard and fast but can he show Serena that taking that leap with him may be the best thing she will ever do? Will there continue to be a scandal all the time with them? Will Serena talk a chance on Austin?

When Serena agrees to attend a Washington Monuments party she never could have anticipated how the evening would end. When she loses her balance she finds herself in what looks like a compromising position with Austin and the only way to control the media frenzy is to pretend they are dating.

Austin was smitten by Serena and her sarcastic banter from their first meeting, and he isn’t about to lend it end there. Convincing her to date him will not only help with the media but will give him the time to show her they belong together and what they share is meant to last.

The repartee between them is humorous as Serena’s feisty personality has met her match in Austin and he is protective and understanding as Serena deals with the impact her past is having on their relationship.

This was such a sweet and funny story to read❤️ Serena is at a after game party of a football player and that's when she runs into Austin the quarterback of the team. Well she runs into him, spills wine on him and kind of gets photographed what could be called a risque situation. A photographer, a huge media scandal, and a man that fell head over heels for his woman. Now he just has to convince her to give him a real chance, because Serena doesn't do love. But Austin will fight for his woman no matter what 😍😍😍😍
Instalove, sweet, steamy, fun to read, OTT, romantic and safe with an awesome HEA 😍😍😍😍😍 can't wait for the next Hawkes sibling to get his/her HEA 😊

Not safe.

I even have the words for how deeply misogynistic the MMC is written to be. Serena is written and photographed to be a human fleshlight servicing him and Austin doesn’t even get offended or try to defend her. He uses it to blackmail her into dating him and lets the whole world and public humiliate and slut shame her.

Nichole really showed her true colors with this one. Honestly I’ve never been so disappointed in a while. I can’t support this author any longer.

0/5 don’t recommend. It’s not safe.

I think Nichole is great at writing heroine's that I can see myself being friends with. It helps that Serena is a hockey girl through and through! I'm not always a fan of the fake dating trope, only because it can seem so predictable but these two had some very cute chemistry. I actually didn't mind how quickly the banter turned into something deeper. Serena doesn’t fall for him easily, and I loved watching Austin work for it especially since he was such a golden boy. This was such an entertaining read and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

If you are looking for a fun hilarious read then I recommend this book. I couldn't get enough. Literally finished it in one setting. Loved all the characters including Austin's teammates. Hands down will be a reread for me. Can't wait for more books in this series. 5 stars!!

This was a beautiful and often very funny story. The moments where you think, “Oh no, this can’t possibly happen,” definitely do happen. But the love that slowly blossoms between Austin and Serena is incredibly intense, even without Serena fully realizing it at first.

I could list so many more things I truly loved about this book, but it’s honestly better to just read it yourself. Can't wait for the other books in this serie

Highly recommended.

First book of this new series Sibling Goals and already this story kept me glued to every page from beginning to end. I love those stories where love comes without expecting it, in the most casual way. Austin swore that he wasn’t looking for love, but at a party he didn’t like to attend, he met Serena, the woman of his life. Austin was unwilling to let Serena go, but she wasn’t sure she was the woman he needed. This story with awkward moments of misunderstanding has a very good happy ending.

Lol! This is definitely one of the most memorable meet-cutes ever with a lasting impact on both of them. While Austin is unbothered, it definitely pisses off Serena. 🤭

While their start was definitely out-of-the-norm, I loved how Austin shows Serena bit by bit that he loves her unconditionally. Through the firestorm caused by the paparazzi and through her fears caused by her last trauma, he is always there for her AND with her.

I’m usually a dark romance, reader, but once in a while, I need a great palate cleanser like this. It was a fun and spicy piece with a sassy FMC and golden retriever MMC. I love the backstory on both characters and how they help each other heal too.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️. I highly recommend it!

I love that we are getting a new series and I am already ready for the rest of the siblings books! This book cracked me up. It felt very reverse grumpy/sunshine where Austin was definitely the sunshine and Serena was grumpy. I could not stop laughing at Austin not even trying to deny the things he did to try to Serena see him again. Cute and easy read!
