Adjusted Reality offers a bold and integrative rethinking of how we approach health, longevity, and personal agency. Drawing on more than twenty five years of clinical experience, Dr. Sherry McAllister challenges the reductionist model of modern healthcare and invites readers to reconsider not just how they heal, but how they live.
What sets this book apart is its insistence on “whole being” health an approach that refuses to separate physical vitality from emotional resilience, personal values, and collective responsibility. Rather than offering quick fixes or prescriptive formulas, McAllister provides frameworks that help readers examine the deeper forces shaping their health decisions, habits, and sense of purpose.
The mountain and valley metaphor is especially effective, capturing both the exhilaration of growth and the discipline required to sustain it. The book acknowledges that reaching a peak is not the end of transformation; maintaining progress, integrating lessons, and avoiding regression are equally essential parts of longevity and optimal living.
Adjusted Reality is not conventional self help. It is a reflective, challenging, and ultimately empowering work that encourages readers to step outside inherited thinking, reconnect fragmented aspects of self, and actively participate in shaping healthier lives and communities. For anyone seeking a more comprehensive and intentional relationship with health, this book offers a compelling and refreshing perspective.

What I like about this book is that it presents a holistic view, covering nutrition, movement, stress management, and mindsets, with each component aiming for whole-being optimization. Additionally, the author's guidance on improving health and energy through small and consistent adjustments has been particularly helpful in achieving balance and a better lifestyle. This is an amazing book. I recommend it to anyone who’s seeking balance and personal development, and it has empowered me to take control of my own health.
Adjusted Reality is a bold, thought-provoking journey that challenges how we view health, longevity, and personal transformation. Dr. Sherry McAllister combines 25+ years of clinical experience with a refreshing narrative that blends science, spirituality, and storytelling. Readers looking for something beyond the usual diet and exercise advice will appreciate the deep dive into whole-being living, mind, body, and soul. The mountain metaphor is powerful, reminding us that progress isn’t just about climbing, but learning how to live wisely once we’ve reached the summit. It’s uplifting and practical, especially for those tired of fragmented healthcare solutions. I loved how the book makes you stop and reflect on what truly drives your choices. If you’re open to shifting your mindset and craving a more meaningful approach to health, this book will leave a lasting impression.
This is a book that essentially encourages you to think differently by rejecting some aspects of “reality” as we normally perceive it. It was written by a medical doctor with a quarter of a century of clinical experience. She tackles many issues in this book, but to encapsulate it as best as possible, what she wants the reader to do is break free from what she thinks of as groupthink.
Mostly, she wants the reader to understand that there is an intrinsic link between your health choices, your physical welfare, and your mental state. While this should seem obvious, many individuals don’t necessarily put that equation together. After reading this book, they should be able to adapt a more holistic approach to their overall health without resorting to psychotropic medication.
Adjusted Reality by Sherry McAllister is a book on holistic, whole-body health and wellness that takes a critical look at the popular theories surrounding health today and proposes alternatives. Some of the concepts are interesting but not always scientifically backed. I wouldn’t take the advice of this book in place of that of a trained medical practitioner (it is worth noting that the author is a chiropractor). There are definitely some good tips on leading a healthy and holistic life but the book is not mind-blowingly different from other holistic health guidebooks. If you are into alternative health, then you may find some interesting ideas here. I am giving this book three out of five stars.
This book has so much power just by looking at the cover. The book had a big impact on me. At 62 years old, you start to see health differently, and that's why the possibility of finding new ways to approach well-being becomes more intense.
The book addresses precisely how to find well-being in a much more complete and effective way than the current system offers us. It proposes a complete change of mindset that also leads to new paths, new tools, and therefore new results regarding your health in every way. As you delve into the book, you realize that your health is compromised by too many internal factors that you never thought had such a high impact, and you will learn to take care of them and see them from new perspectives.
I found this book very interesting. From the beginning, it captivated me because it addresses a very important topic, one I strongly believe in. Furthermore, it invites us to rethink certain aspects of reality as we usually perceive it. Undoubtedly, it's a very interesting subject. To summarize, this book has three pillars that the author considers interconnected: health, physical well-being, and mental state. This is relevant given the author's experience, as he has been measured for over 20 years. It's certainly a very interesting book that helped me think beyond what we usually consider reality to be. I really enjoyed this book. I recommend it to anyone facing a dilemma between medical and emotional issues.
Adjusted Reality by Sherry McAllister is a really inspiring and practical book about how to live a healthier and more balanced life. The author talks about taking care of your mind, body, and spirit, not just one part of yourself. I liked how she uses real stories and simple advice that anyone can follow. While reading, I thought about how often I forget to slow down and take care of my own well-being. One part about the power of small daily habits really stayed with me. I started going for short walks every morning, and it truly makes me feel better. The book is positive and motivating without being complicated. It feels like having a wise friend reminding you to make small changes that can help you live longer and happier.
I really enjoy having moments to disconnect my body, mind, and soul, like going to the mountains, contemplating nature, and feeling grateful for it. I thought it would be very hard to find a similar experience in a book, but this idea completely changed after reading this one. The writing style allows the reader to imagine the landscapes in a vivid way, connect with them, and feel a deep sense of calm, almost as if being there in person. This book invites you to pause, breathe, and connect with yourself through its pages. A great read, and highly recommended for clearing the mind and finding peace in everyday life.

This book is incredible, because it is a book that doesn't stay in the problem and the bad side of medicine, but shows a way to have a different approach that will assure you better health and wellbeing. This read immersed me in this unknown world and I loved it, knowing all the information that this well studied doctor offers in this book for me is a gift, every little thing that could help me to have better habits and improve my health is something really important and fundamental, because if you don't have health you don't have anything.
