There are bigger threats to society than Ebola. I discovered some interesting data on nanobots and decided to write a book about it. In only a few years we will be dealing with the good and the bad (Dubious).
The book is about a conspiracy to take over the government and install a dictator using nanobots. Colton Banyon must solve the mystery before it is too late.

Book 10, in the Colton Banyon Mystery

It took a bit of time before I was sucked into this suspense. A bit redundant the first quarter of the mystery recounting the backstories of each characters at length, this may be a good strategy for those picking up this series at this point but after 10 books I knew all this already and wanted to get to the meat of the story. I almost gave up, thank fully it turned mid-way and provided a very exciting story about a conspiracy to take over the US Government and install a dictator using nanobots.

I must give The Kubickis A+ for their fertile imagination and the knack for providing just enough futuristic views to make their stories a fun read. Their style is indeed cool and young at heart. Their stories are action packed, have over the board characterization, some have a tad of humour and some may also have crazy sex scenes (not this one and I was glad for the break). In “A Dubious Device”, the story is not overly complicated but is vividly describe for effects. Once the scenario of this sci-fi robotic thriller kicked in there were no dull moments, it became fast paced, exciting and captivating till the end.

Colton is still at war with “The Effort” the group behind the nanobots attack but as always he is well prepared to deal with those evil people and of course the good guys will win at the end.

Fun read if you into this type of story.

This was a pretty average science fiction offering. This book is part of a continuing series, which I guess I've entered midstream, so that may make for my so-so opinion. The plot was pretty good, but I found the characters boring ,unrealistic, and overbearing.

A Dubious Device (10)

This story has been a good read. The author has done a good job of putting together a powerful group of characters, and used them well.

1933, SS Major Henrich Himmler quite the brown noser was meeting with Chancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler to let him know what he had found out from Captain Konrad Patzig.

A new spy ring was has started up in Mexico called Abwehr. It now would be easy to get into the US to spy there also.
Colton Banyon (64, Dewey & Beatem, mystery writer) was being arrested for multiple murders. He had worked for the US President & had indeed killed unscrupulous PPL.

Loni Chen (50, former FBI, Colton G/F) called Bart Longwood (managing partner of Dewey & Beatem, Attorneys at Law).

Colton was taken to Summerlin police station.

Detective Haleigh Taylor (f) was interviewing Colin & was asking him some very bizarre questions. He informs the group that somebody was injecting something into the plastic wrap on the books that was killing more intimates.

Several things were being done to prevent any more of this from happening/.

The prison system was being invaded by Nanobots (power supply, computer device, sensory, navigation, communication)!?

Marlene Moore (Secretary of Homeland Security) informed the Dewey & Beatem strategy team: Colton, Loni Chen, Chase, Steve Pellegrino, Bart Longwood, Timmy & Detective Haleigh Taylor what was going on in her end.

The clock is ticking.

Wolf informed Colton that nanobots could only live outside their solution for less than 2 hrs.
Interesting how is the solution acquired? Rumor has it that’s what’s in Red Bull.

Who is Captain Michael Meyers (Annapolis)?

Will the Aryan Brotherhood & the Effort be curtailed?

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has been called to Washington DC. 980 military (Pentagon), Senators, some civilian’s & the Secretary of Defense are now dead.

Who what is Vice Admiral Michael Meyers now Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (VCJCS) Pentagon, & Combatant Commander US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) involved in?

In 2 more yrs. he could be promoted to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS)

How/why will Maya Patel, Previne Patel, Pramilla Patel (Eric Grey wife), & Eric Grey (Wolf Grandson, ex-Navy Seal) get involved?

Will Marlene & the strategy team be able to solve the Nanobot national crisis?

Our favorite saying in the 60’s & Vietnam FUBAR.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written sci-fi robotic thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make great movie, animated cartoon, PP presentation or paid-per-view mini TV series (A & E, History channel). There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free book (Author)

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A Dubious Device is the 10th book in the Colton Banyon series. The book starts off with Colton being arrested under suspicion of murder. We find that there have been a series of murders of death row inmates that had no contact with the outside other than the mail they had received.

Once Colton is cleared of the murders his team is tasked from the President to help solve the case. We are introduced to the leader behind the murders, a former Nazi and find his plans to take over the US and wipe out other races. From there it's a chase for Colt and his group to find and stop the plans before millions could die.

The book started a bit slow to me. The first several chapters did a great job of catching a reader up on who was who if not having read the previous books so this read fine as a standalone. But the beginning also seemed to start feeling a bit more of a textbook lesson than pulling me into the story too. Getting 10-15 chapters in though the action picks up and the story got moving a lot better.

One complaint though factoring in on my overall rating though is I found a lot of words in the story that seemed to be wrong. Perhaps it was my copy I was given but it's one of my biggest pet peeves when reading as I find it completely distracting to be reading and have to stop at a sentence to figure out what it meant. A few off the top of my head were no instead of not, shot instead of shoot, microscope instead of microscopic and draw instead of drawer etc. I'd almost forgive someone using for instance the wrong version of they're/there/their easier than a completely different word as it breaks up the flow of the story. For instance "Their at the park" instead of They're could be read the same instead of coming across "The at the park" and spending time reading and re-reading trying to figure out that "the" meant They're.

As far as the story went though I found it overall interesting and fun to read. The science aspects were believable to me although I have no clue how close to the truth it actually is. I did get a little disappointed in the character Wolf in the story. I just found it a lot more exciting when the team is working on solving the case and then a bit letdown when Colt gets handed the answers from Wolf not even halfway into reading. It seemed they were doing fine working the leads and evidence and the book would've flowed nicely without so much being given away by Wolf.

10th Book for Colton Banyon, or Colt as his friends call him, this time the story starts with the man being arrested for a string of murders. This might be my new favorite Colton Banyon book in the series, having read a few, I am a sci-fi buff so I think nanobots are pretty cool.

As usual, this is a war between Colt and The Effort, and this time the villains are well prepared, anticipating every move as the authorities struggle to keep abreast of things. Lucky for them,Colt and his team are skillful and experienced when dealing with those evil masterminds.

Not only Colton has gotten better at planning and defending, the Kubicki brothers evolved with their writing style, more direct and to the point. While the girls are pretty much still the same: trying to own Colt, the guys have learnt a lot while dealing with the bad guys and therefore have a sense of urgency to stop further deaths.

While the good guys would always win in Banyon's world, victory comes through hard work and team work, both important lessons in real life. Which is what makes the Colton Banyon mysteries so unique.

I did download this book as an eBook for free on Amazon as one of my friends had recommended it to me. Now I'm not saying that the book is bad or anything because I gave it three stars, I'm just saying that the book itself wasn't typically what I liked to read but I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did read it though as it was a very well written and put together book. The author has a wonderful writing style and I might look into reading more books like this in the future. But as of right now I don't thing these types of books are going to keep my interest long but maybe that will change one day. Like I said the book did keep my attention and was well written so I do say that other readers should give this book and author a try and see for themselves.

I won this on GoodReads.

Oh my, now I have something else to worry about. Who would have thought that nanobots could be used by Nazi, or anyone else, to destroy the US government? Evidentially, Gerald J and Kristopher Kubicki did. In “A Dubious Device, the Nanobot Terror”, Colton Banyon (a problem solver, not officially working for the government) with the help of his staff and allies uncover the plot and must race against time to save America as we know it. I never had any doubt that they would succeed, but the trip was as interesting as it was believable. Contains believable science and interesting characters. I really enjoyed reading this.

The Colton Banyon novels get better each time out.

In this one, Those American Nazis, The Effort, are planning a nanobot attack on the country in preparation for a takeover. Colton gets pulled into the mystery when members of the Aryan Brotherhood on death rows in prisons die in a mysterious manner. The only common denominator is each had a book written by Banyon and received shortly before their deaths.

Gerald Kubicki has a fine series here and, as mentioned, getting better. Fun read.

Once again Colton Bayon has managed to save the day and destroy some devices with the help of his team. I especially like that he even mentioned Gerald Kubicki in his new mystery . It's a pity that Colton Bayon is a fictional character because I think I'm falling in love with him.

I would like to thank the author for witting this excellent book. This book was a everything a thriller should be and it scared me. Because something like this can really happen. I love books that can really make me think. Keep up the good work I'm looking forward to the next book.

This started out slow for me, in that I didn't find much interest to want to read it, and then....BAM! I couldn't put it down. I loved the concept of the story! Great story Jerry Kubicki!
