I need to get out of this prison. I need to get back to my husband. I can't live like this. I can't survive like this. I never thought I'd be yearning for the arms of my stalker but Dante broke through my walls and stood by me even when I was on trial for several murders. Oh, and Ella? She's going to wish she was never born.
Dante
There are two things that matter to getting my wife back, and putting Ella down like the dog she is. I'll go to the ends of the earth to save her. I'll burn it all down—Goetic Consortium included. I'm reckless, I know I am, but nothing can stop me. Not even the way Roman, my right-hand man, keeps disrespecting me. I can deal with him later. I can deal with all of it later. I just have to get her back.
The Heir is book 2 of The Dantalion a dark romance that may not be suitable for all readers. Please review the author's note in the beginning of the book to make sure this is for you. This is the conclusion of their story.
Beatrice Keane spent the vast majority of her teens and twenties hip-deep in demonology and ancient civilization mythos lore, wistfully wishing for a sexy devil to appear in her cramped apartment, showering her with demonic love and wealth. Unfortunately, that never happened, and she does not live in a lavish castle in the depths of hell. Instead, she lives happily with her (very human) husband, their (very human) child, and a (very human-like) cat somewhere in the Northeastern USA region.
She deeply despises the cold, and could be described as a southern gal who was unceremoniously dumped into the part of the country that actually has a winter season.
She loves highly-caffeinated beverages (ask her about “chaos coffee” sometime), homemade pasta, and daydreaming about owning a hobby farm. Her favorite animal is a chicken. Her favorite color is lavender. She doesn’t have a Starbucks order because she prefers the bougie local coffee shops, even though she can really only afford that once or twice a month. If she can swing it, though, she prefers an iced mocha with a triple shot, no whipped cream. Oh, and an everything bagel with egg and cheddar cheese, salt-pepper-ketchup.
The Heir: book 2 of the Dantalion Duet by @Beatrice | Romance Author Melody: I need to get out of this prison. I need to get back to my husband. I can’t live like this. I can’t survive like this. MY REVIEW: I of course had to know what happened so I immediately jumped into this book and Beatrice did not disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat for some chapters waiting for Melody to strike and cheering when she did. There were moments of sadness, but also shock and awe and I could feel the characters betrayal as well. This duet is definitely worth the read. You won’t regret it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Beatrice Keane’s The Heir rips the reader into a world of obsession, loyalty, and revenge and never loosens its grip. Melody’s desperate, simmering vulnerability and Dante’s fierce, all-consuming devotion create an electric, and dangerous, dynamic that crackles off the page. Keane balances pulse-pounding action with gut-punch emotional stakes: Melody’s fight to survive and reclaim the life she wants, and Dante’s willingness to burn down empires to get her back, make for a story that’s equal parts heartbreaking and savage.
The pacing is relentless, the stakes feel real, and the morally gray choices these characters make are compelling rather than cartoonish. Secondary players (and enemies) are stitched in tightly, giving the plot momentum and making every betrayal and victory land with emotional weight. If you love dark romance with razor-sharp tension, ruthless protectors, and a heroine who refuses to be quietly broken, The Heir is a must-read. Beatrice Keane delivers a fierce, unforgettable ride.
I really liked most of this book! The story pulled me in early and the writing was smooth enough that I flew through it. The characters had great chemistry, and there were plenty of moments that made me smile or feel totally invested.
That being said… the “good boy” kink was a full stop for me.Every time it came up, it yanked me right out of the story. I get that it might work for some readers, but it just wasn’t my thing and felt a little forced compared to the rest of the dynamic.
Aside from that, I genuinely enjoyed the plot and emotional build. The pacing was solid, and there were a few scenes that stuck with me after finishing. It's definitely a book I’d recommend with a small disclaimer — if that particular kink doesn’t bother you, you’ll probably enjoy it even more than I did.
This is book two in the duet, so be sure to read book one first. Melody and Dante’s story continues. It gives a brief recap before diving into the chaos. Watching the characters develop individually and accept the reality of their feelings for each other is amazing. The story is gripping and keeps you attention from start to finish. And two Morally Grey/Black characters is always fun to read. But only to read. You have to read the duet to understand the twists and turns that are so entertaining and enjoyable. The characters are fantastic and everything flows smoothly. I definitely recommend reading these books.
Probably closer to 3.5 stars in all honesty. I loved the relationship between all the characters. The love between Dante and Melody 🔥 however, I feel like the word "love" was over used by Dante. It feels like it was at the end of every sentence he said to Melody and it just gave me the ick. I also was not a fan of the "good boy" kink. The first time, it completely threw me off. And it just continued to pull me out of the story. otherwise, it was a really good book. The story itself had me completely hooked.
This book is a wild ride! I love Dante and his love for Melody. Their tragic story and what all they go through at the hands of others is crazy! Melody’s revenge is iconic and I love how insane she is. Dante is Marley in love with her and will do anything and everything in his power to keep her. His love is boundless. I throughly enjoyed this duet! Arc read.
Such a good book and amazing series! The Hitch and the Heir were wonderful! The Heir finished everything from the very first book. We were able to see what happened after cliffhanger ending. She does give you a brief synopsis at the beginning of the book, however, you do need to read The Hitch before The Heir. The intricacies in the relationship between Melody and Dante and their friends and enemies and allies are just brought to light even more so than the first one. And how Dante just loves Melody no matter what she does is just awe inspiring.
