Ohio-based rapper Blueprint has put together a hilarious set of vignettes describing some of the worst shows in his career. His voice as a performer comes through clearly here and he spares no one, not even himself, the embarrassment of their missteps. Other local rappers and DJs feature heavily and it was fun to read about what kinds of things these guys get up to behind the scenes. I love Blueprint's art and never miss a show when he comes through my town. I really very much enjoyed his book. (One star off only because as a self-published work, it could use more of a professional editor).

Loved this book. It's a quick read (93 pages) but there's a lot in here. Blueprint recaps the worst nights of his touring career. Drunken brawls, freestyle battles, and shady promoters. One of my favorites I've read in a long time.

Quick, fast & dirty read. If you’ve ever “got in the van” w/ your own band, you’ve been there & felt this. Very cool to read this from an early (almost pre-internet) / midwestern point of view as well. Fun read!

‘What a Night’ is written by Emcee, Producer, and author Blueprint. It’s a short read, but jam packed with hilarious and really bizarre moments from his 12 years of touring. He shares 15 stories about behind the scenes mishaps and everything that could possibly go wrong in the lead up to, during, and after, from what he considers ‘the worst shows of his career’. And it’s cool because he doesn’t spare himself from the ridicule and embarrassing moments either, he just tells it as it is. There are run-ins with dodgy characters, shady promoters, crazy audience members if any, and in the end it’s all part of the learning curve that comes with being an artist. I really enjoyed this book.

Interesting read about some really awful nights. Blueprint shows that it's not all glamour when it comes to touring as a recording artist. I would certainly recommend this book to my friends and to those interested in reading about the not so fun side of touring.
