Imagine being a good man to the woman you’re pursuing and a street king to everyone else. Rashad “Shad” Black believes in elevating his woman, Ty, pouring into her mentally, emotionally, and financially. However, loyalty is a dangerous illusion, and the woman he invested in is the biggest threat to his throne.

He discovers things about his lady that he doesn’t want to believe. His childhood friend Promise tries to remove his blinders, but it’s too late. The table is set and the plot is in play. He must navigate his discovery the right way. One wrong move could cost him more than he was ever willing to pay.

With his best friend, Tray, and young hitter Mazi by his side, Shad is out for vengeance. The streets will feel his wrath, and the ones who came for him will pay in blood. When the dust settles, he dismantles his operation in Tampa, Florida, the only home he’s ever known. He’s taking his organization to a new city and state, where the stakes are even higher.

The streets will remember his name, but in the end, one thing rings true.

The streets are cold, but women are colder.

Denise’s Review of “SHAD”

This was a really good book with an excellent storyline. This book will grab your attention and won’t let go until you finish the book. Shad is a real boss; he and his best friend, Tray, are in business together. Tray is Shad’s right hand and is in charge when Shad is away or down for any reason. Mazi and Ced are the shooters who carry out orders when someone needs to be handled. Ty is Shad’s girlfriend, and Promise is the one who has his heart, for whom he will go to war for and die for her and her daughters. He pushed Promise away a long time ago, and she is married with two daughters. Shad is shot at the beginning of the book but doesn’t die. While he is recovering, he and his team are trying to find out who shot him and who ordered the hit. As the book continued, it got to a point where I didn’t want to put the book down. Read the book to find out who is behind Shad getting shot, will he and Ty be together forever, and what part does Promise play in Shad’s life? Who is D, and what part does he play in this triangle that is going on? Does Shad and his team find out who shot him? Read the book because there are more pieces to this puzzle than you think. I recommend this book for reading. Again excellent book with a lot of twists and turns in it.

I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting into when I started Shad, but whew—Valia Brown wasted no time getting straight to the action! Within the first few chapters, things were already wild… and it only got wilder from there.

Imagine getting set up by your own girlfriend 👀—that was just the beginning. The plot twists in this book were insane. Every time I thought I had something figured out, Valia flipped the script. And let’s talk about that stud kingpin twist?! I did not see that coming. At all. The way everything connected by the end was straight-up mind-blowing.

This is definitely a gritty, fast-paced urban fiction story full of betrayal, revenge, and street politics—with a twist you won’t forget. If you’re into thrillers with a heavy dose of hood drama and jaw-dropping reveals, this one’s worth the one-sitting binge.

SHAD by Valia Brown
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was written with a great storyline that I really enjoyed and the MMC was a real one! This man did not play, he handled business!!! A Street King with a good heart for his woman, and anyone else, until you cross him, and you don’t want to do that…. EVER! The way this book grips you in you are hooked from the beginning til the end, Shad is a man of few words and a whole lot of get back! The romance was good, the spice was spicing and the characters are addictive. This Author did an Incredible Job on This Book, if you have not read it please do so now! You won’t regret it!

Valia Brown is back, and she did not come to play! Shad is everything I didn’t know I needed in a story: raw, intense, emotional, and gripping from beginning to end. Valia masterfully weaves a tale that explores love, loyalty, betrayal, and power, all without missing a beat. Shad as a character is unforgettable, and his strength, vulnerability, and complexity make him leap off the page.

Valia, I’m so glad that you have decided to return to the writing game. Your pen is just as sharp, if not sharper, than before. You brought the heat, the heart, and the drama, and I was locked in from page one. This book reminded me why I became a fan in the first place. Welcome back, Valia! You were missed, and the game is better with you in it!

Journey through life

Life has it ups and downs. Everyone is not always for you. It can be the closest person near you would turn their back on you. Be aware of the people in your camp.
Shad was an excellent book from start to finish. I love how he was always there for Promise even if he couldn't have her.
