Methodical Illusion

Rate this book
The glamorous life of an international flight attendant can be anything but, as Vera Hanson discovered the morning one of her crew members was found murdered in a Paris hotel room. That morning began to put into focus some of the experiences of Vera's thirty year airline career, which she had purposely been avoiding. It caused her to look more deeply into the questions surrounding 9/11 that never made sense to a flight attendant, but that no one had seriously investigated. With the help of her pilot friend Jim Bowman, they embark on a cross country journey employing their wisdom, experience and intense research to uncover the mysteries of what really happened to the four airplanes and the people on them that fateful day. Written as a novel, Methodical Illusion has been excruciatingly researched from an insider's perspective, utilizing proprietary knowledge of airplanes, universal FAA protocols, standardized fight crew procedures and all hijacking policies. The results are the never before revealed answers to the daunting questions everyone has had, but few had dared ask aloud for fear of the repercussions that undoubtedly follow. Rebekah Roth is right on target with her mind blowing research which is guaranteed to open your eyes.

Intriguing speculation into 9/11 answers in the last 1/4 of the book with logical explanations, but really bad as a novel. The first half is pointless, and the writing, dialogue, and flow is very amateur and illogical. I'd be much more interested in the author's real story in researching the topic in the form of a longer article. 80% of this book (the novel) was completely unnecessary and largely silly.

Most interesting part was her theory that the planes were taken to Westover Air Force Base in MA, where the passengers were told to make their scripted phone calls.

5 for research and materials about 9/11 that I have never seen all accumulated in one spot.
I'd give her more than a 5 if I could.

3 (which is probably generous) for plot, style, editing, grammar, etc.

Roth's strength is in meticulous exposure of facts. That works against any ability to embellish facts or add characters, events, and details. A researcher who wants truth and honesty is rarely suited to exaggeration, emotionalism and fiction.

I have read the entire series and this review will apply to the series rather than to an individual book. I think it is necessary to read these books in the series in order.

But after I listened to her describe the inconsistencies that she saw in the actions aboard the "hijacked" planes through the eyes of a flight attendant, I realized that this woman had done some research on aspects of this event that had never really been investigated before.

I have long been concerned about inconsistencies in the 9/11 events. So many questions were never answered ... the mass media refused to report on them. So many lies were told in an attempt to deceive the world. So many things did not make sense, like Building 7 collapsing and exploding in the same method as the twin towers, but without being struck by any airplane while Flight 93 did not seem to have a specified (or logical) destination. But these 2 events are put together in a scenario that finally makes sense.

There are hundreds of puzzle pieces that Roth puts together. She does not speculate. She has meticulously (and almost miraculously) obtained actual records of flights, radar reports, phone calls, military planes, radio transmissions, remote capability to take over flights, software back doors, Brady bonds, gold movement from the vaults in the twin towers, passenger manifests, employee records, passenger histories, stolen identities used for the alleged 19 hijackers, witness reports, a video viewing of the missile entering the Pentagon, evidence of thermite and nanothermite at Ground Zero, and so much more. She also has attracted many witnesses and whistleblowers who each add a small but important part to the story. She has also attracted experts who had the understanding that the explanations given were impossible but not the evidence to prove it. She provided the evidence.

She puts together these pieces in a logical way and comes to very realistic but disturbing conclusions. She has proof of falsified reports indicating that times were changed on reports. In many cases, events like buildings being struck or planes crashing were reported before they actually happened which seemed to indicate a plan which was not going according to schedule. There were 6 planes intended in the attack. One of them was delayed at the airport and the attack cancelled. For all of these scenarios she had proof from actual records. She managed to get a few terrabytes of information under the Freedom of Information Act which I think the government was not aware of being released. It is suggested that this information was provided to her by a whistleblower.

For example, most people do not realize that simultaneously on Sept 11 there was a war game going on in the US which affected radar. Planes were in the air which were capable of overriding radar, of making planes disappear or appear on radar at whatever location suited the "plan". But there were enough witnesses and hard copy flight information to determine the actual landing locations of the planes that were really replaced by missiles, the planes that took the passengers to Spain with new identities and those that took the bodies of other passengers of these planes to another base for disposal (cremation). I have seen videos on other sources that seem to show a missile covered by a hologram entering the twin towers. It was obvious that it was a hologram because the hologram "image" was weakening around the edges, apparently a common problem with holograms..

She traces back the beginning of the 9/11 plan to years in the making, through many Presidential terms. Her evidence can make you question your perception of who was really behind 9/11. She asks who benefited from this attack (definitely not Osama bin Laden); she gives financial information to answer that question; and she casts doubt on the guilt of those who were so readily blamed for this event. (I am Caucasian, Canadian, female, a senior ... I did not believe that Timothy McVeigh destroyed the Federal Building in Oklahoma City by himself, but he did make a convenient patsy. But I did naively believe the terrorist story we were told of Sept 11 ... of inexperienced pilots accomplishing impossible maneuvers ... until it no longer made sense, and to me these men were patsies.) She shows the proliferation of training camps for terrorists on American soil paid for by the CIA which provide them with people easily manipulated and easy to blame for domestic terrorism while hiding the CIA's own involvement. She does not expose only the CIA, but also the FBI, the JCOS, the Pentagon, the banks, etc. in trafficking, money laundering, manipulation of securities, overthrowing foreign governments, initiating wars, etc.

If you want some of the most thorough research into 9/11 that I have ever seen (I have read dozens of books about 9/11), I would recommend watching Roth's presentations on Youtube.

Roth tried to write novels in which she would put all this information in a supposedly fictional form. The novel is not, in my opinion, a thriller. It is not dramatic. I am used to Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler.

But the research is phenomenal. She is an articulate speaker who holds the interest of her audience. I know this is supposed to be a book review. But the credibility of the research is diminished by being presented in fictional form ... this does not happen with well footnoted research presented as fact.

If you are going to read these books, I would recommend that you listen to some of her interviews first.

Her research is probably some of the most important research on 9/11 ever presented because she has consolidated the information from associations of pilots, airline employees, architects, scientists, the military, etc. into one complete picture.

If this research had been available, I would not have read so many other books on 9/11 looking for the truth.

Watch Roth or read her books. You might never be the same again.

I giving this 3 stars just because how fast read it was, and reason for that was the subject matter.

The latter half of the book is full on intriguing conspiracy theories on 9/11, real page turner stuff. But, but...it's political leanings are in your face, and writing is not up to the task. The dialogue is borderline embarrassing sometimes, but, there's that but again...the plot is so interesting. It's basically like the old pulp thriller paperbacks.

If you are interest in an alternative theories on 9/11 masked as a "right-wing" pulp thriller (like The Destroyer), then go for this!

Did not finish due to typos, poor grammar, incomprehensible sentences, dropped words, and general lack of editing. I'd been anticipating this book after listening to the author on the radio. I think it's a great idea but the book really needs a professional to overhaul it. Which is sad because I'm sure this is an eye-opening read.

Disclaimer: Like everyone at the time, I watched the attacks on 9/11 and my opinions were formed by what I/we saw on television news coverages and special reports also broadcasted on the television networks. Therefore, I believed the media and government’s narrative as it played out on television. Over time, I was introduced to alternate facts and opinions that caused me to rethink the events of 9/11. I add this just so you can put into context what I am about to say about Ms. Roth’s book.

I was unable to put Methodical Illusion down so I’m warning you ahead of time, if you decide to read it, you may want to put some time on your calendar to do so. Yes, it is that good!

Ms. Roth was being interviewed about 9/11 when she mentioned the book she had written. I made the wrong assumption that it was going to be a non-fiction book singularly about the events that took place on 9/11. Ms. Roth’s book is a book of fiction but with historical truths intertwined in the books’ plotline. The story that is told is worthy of becoming a movie; it IS that intriguing. How much of the storyline is fiction and how much is real, I actually do have a feeling for the answers but imagine the answers to those questions will be different for everyone who reads the book.

As stated above, I initially believed the 9/11 narrative as put forth on television news. At the time I failed to pick up on the fact that every news coverage said the exact same thing. I know what I saw on the television screen but the shock of the events that followed clouded my judgement when it came to believing what I was being told versus what I was actually seeing. It was not until years later when someone pointed out (1) how the twin towers each collapsed upon their own footprints exactly like a building would that was being intentionally demolished with explosives and then (2) how building 7 collapsed 8 hours after the Twin Towers collapsed and without any physical evidence that the building had been hit by either a plane or any of the following debris from the towers. Building 7 also collapsed upon its own footprint like all other buildings that are intentionally demolished with the use of explosives.

The author, Ms. Roth, had been a Flight Attendant and Flight Purser for over 30 years. Therefore, she has significant insight in commercial air flights and passenger controls. She began to ask questions. She raised those questions during the interview that I listened to. I had some of the same questions but had no answers. She laid out answers based on her over 30 years of experience and her answers JUST MADE PERFECT SENSE! What she said she thought had REALLY happened was so over the top and so shocking, it was hard to digest at first. But as I considered her answers and suggestions when compared to the facts she put forth, I had to admit that her explanation of 9/11 made the attack far more believable than what we have been told by the news media and our government.

This book weaves those same questions and her answers into a fictious plot that is riveting to read. I read it in less than 24 hours meaning I read it as close to a one-sitting-reading as possible.

Would I read this book again: Parts of it, DEFINITELY!
Would I give this book as a gift: ABSOLUTELY
Who should read this book: Everyone, but especially those who believe the news media narrative of 9/11 without question. This book WILL make you question what REALLY happened, why it happened and your beliefs to this point in time that you have been taught to believe!

The theory Rebekah has about 9-11 makes complete sense. As you read this book, your eyes will be opened to the corruption in government and the media. Welcome to an awakening.

I heard an interview with Rebekah Roth wherein she was promoting her book “Methodical Illusion” and telling her reasons for writing it. Although it is a novel, she based much of the fictional account on information derived from her own experiences as a flight attendant and what was related to her by other attendants and pilots. For years she had accepted the “official” story of, dare I say it—9/11. But the more facts that were revealed to her, the more she could not understand why there were anomalies between the standard procedure protocols of what was to be done in hijacking events and the reported storyline.
Being a person with an insatiable curiosity, and having experienced anomalies turning into fact, I ordered the book. First, she snags the reader with the suspicious death of her stewardess friend and the fact that for some unknown reason she is followed by a man dressed in black that she fears wants her dead. Running to her vacation home, where she thinks she is safe, she finds a mysterious package hidden by her late husband that takes her on a journey of seeking the truth.
Rebekah Roth reveals, in the form of a novel, the denoted facts and anomalies that she discovered in her research. Some she was confident in verifying from her nearly 30-year career as a flight attendant and an international purser. Others were gleaned from air traffic controllers, pilots, attendants, and many others. While you may have already heard of some of these interesting inconsistencies, and incongruities, the way she puts them all together gives you pause for thought.
In any event it is a stimulating read that will take you out of the realm of the plausibility of the official story into the land of “What Ifs.” It is an absolute page turner.
Typos, and editing mistakes exist...but don't let them get in the way of the message.

I read this book and enjoyed her fiction story, have read previous books on 9/11 and have many questions, I found this book enlightening, thought provoking with new angles to consider. Would certainly recommend reading this book, we will not agree with all her ideas but then this is fiction mixed with the events of that dreadful day. If one more person questions the story we were suppose to believe then this book is a huge success.

Riveting!

The truth.....at last!

How this eluded me after all these years I'll never know. But, I have started the journey as I enter the winter of life.

Everything that happened that fateful and dreaded day so worked on our emotions. It blinded our logic to filter out what actually happened with a driving lust for revenge. The effects of which continue to debilitate us today.

Thank you, Rebekah! I ultimately intend to read them all in the order you've written them. I am already into the second one.

I have been stationed in Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia for ten (10) of my 24-year career as a military training contractor since retirement from the Navy in 1999.

I believe that perspective helps greatly in sorting out the wheat from the chaff you've exposed. But...nowhere close to the benefits gained from reading your books.

Thank you!

I rolled my eyes so many times at this book, but mostly because of the horribly developed plot and the kind of radical fundamentalist politics the author included in the story. Clearly she wrote it quickly and with little regard for editing. It is full of typos, mistakes, and redundancy. And her dialog is seriously unrealistic. Having said all of that, her ideas regarding what occurred on 9/11 are interesting, valid points and I believe they add an important and necessary voice to the discussion--that of someone who has been in the industry of mass air transit. The book was very poorly executed, but her theory about 9/11 is well thought out and highly plausible. For that reason, I give the book a thumbs up.

You need to read this

I have always said that the phone calls that allegedly came from the airplanes on 9/11 were bullshit. I have flown numerous times since 9/11, and I have never been able to make or receive a phone call while airborne. I've been out to Shanksville Pennsylvania shortly after 9/11, and there was no cell phone service out there. When you call your parent, do you give your full name? Hell no, you say mom or dad and your parent knows who you are.

The Truth about 9/11

Rebekah has succeeded in putting all the pieces together on 9/11. Her series of books on this subject must be required reading for all to expose how our government has betrayed us as a people, and, equally importantly, how it is slowly but surely demolishing what America has always stood for, as established by the Founding Fathers in 1776. We must not just sit back and wait for someone else to do something about it. Everyone MUST get involved.

Amazing, bizarre, certainly eye opening!

If you are seeking to break out of your echo chamber, and have ever wondered why on earth some Americans find healthcare provision to be such an evil endeavour, or voted for Trump, then this book is definitely for you.

Push past the clunky construction, enjoy the dire dialogue, and above all do not fall for the fallacies and conspiracies re 9/11 (google them afterwards!), but enjoy seeing how 9/11 becomes entwined with wider political arguments into what appears to me (a Brit) as an attempt to portray the tea party arm of the Republican party as a logical and perfectly reasonable response to a global conspiracy of seriously epic proportions. Which can partly be solved by removing affordable health care, withdrawing from the UN and preventing dual citizenship in American government...

Wonderful! Enjoy.

I read this book because I was really curious to see what conclusions she draws from the incidents at 911. I do not read novels as a rule as I much prefer factual stories, but I thought that, as a flight attendant, Rebekah should have had some very insightful comments. She presented a few useful ideas regarding the phone calls from the plane and when the planes supposedly hit the twin towers, but the actual storyline was rather disappointing. However, the conclusions she came to were, in my estimation, 100% accurate. It's just a pity the American people swallowed the official version as it is FULL of holes. And it is also a shame that they don't have a President with the intestinal fortitude to put into practice all the checks and balances suggested in the book by President Sherman.

Would've preferred just the facts but I understand the need for shadowing through a fictional story.

Enlightening read. I am one who believes that more under forces were at work with regards to terrorism around the world and in the U.S. I prefer a more factual account, but understand the necessity for a fictional story line.

Fascinating book

This book starts slow and its character development is leading you down a path of contention. The author brings up many possible ways that 9/11 could not hav possibly Ben done by 19 Middle Guys who could barely fly a Cessna much less a Boeing jet. And the software she tells about has caused me to second guess all banks.
Just read it, you’ll see what I mean .

5 stars because of the intricate details about 9/11 & the coherence with which Rebekah brings many aspects of the conspiracies to light. The 9/11 information takes place on page 153 onward.
(As a novel, the story is trite, dialog is overdone, characters are two-dimensional, and the prose & editing are way off.)

Mildly interesting up to the halfway point, then the story fell apart, with nothing but monologue info dumps, and at 3/4 it went from dull to utter nonsense. Disappointed because I'd heard good things about this novelized take on 9/11 Truth. Jyst terrible.

Truth hidden in fiction

This really spells out the truth about 9/11 and breaks from the common myth of Bin Laden that sheeple can’t seem to get into their heads. I wish more talk show hosts would embrace this instead of their nonsensical day to day topics.

Truth in the form of a novel is brilliant. The characters are engaging and the story unfolds with rapid fire making it impossible to put down. We cheer for a modern day President Sherman to indeed clear the swamp.
