2.5 ⭐️ Este es el cuarto libro que leo de Agatha y creo que por primera vez me quedo a deber en algo. No sé si he cambiado como lectora, pero la forma en que describe a los personajes mujeres como tontas y superficiales me hace apreciarla un poco menos. Entiendo el argumento de “hay que contextualizar el libro con las ideas de la época”, pero eso no significa que no me cause disgusto leerlo.
La novela pudo haber sido mucho más corta, ya que se tornaba bastante repetitiva a ratos con los personajes siempre opinando lo mismo sobre “gente degenerada de esta época” (lo cual me causa gracia porque me doy cuenta que la creencia de una sociedad decadente lleva muchos años diciéndose). En general, creo que pudo saltarse ciertas descripciones, e incluso la mención de ciertos personajes para mantener la intriga. Me decepcionó un poco.
Aunque sigo destacando el ingenio de Ágatha para siempre sorprenderme, era tan obvio pero tan difícil de descifrar como solo sabe hacerlo ella. Por otra parte, creo que el asesinato de Leopoldo, el hermano de Joyce era totalmente innecesario. Y de repente, me quedo a deber cierta información, como ¿cómo se enteró Michael que Miranda era quien verdaderamente atestiguó el crimen? Mi suposición es por el tiempo que pasaban juntos a pesar de que nunca es mencionado. En fin, hay un par de cabos a atar.
El desarrollo de la historia me pareció un poco aburrido mientras Poirot entrevistaba personas, es hasta casi el final del libro cuando volví a engancharme.
