Emil is a quiet, obedient village boy - gentle, sheltered and just eighteen - when he is taken from his home and forced aboard a mysterious pirate ship.
The vessel hums with strange whispers and hidden powers. Its crew lives by instinct and hierarchy. Nothing is predictable - only the constant test of strength, loyalty and submission.
As Emil faces trials, punishments, and long stormy nights, he begins to understand what it means to survive among men who expect nothing but total surrender.
A dark, immersive story of awakening and resilience-told with raw intensity and emotional depth. For mature audiences.
The writing style is not my favorite. Too much detail, overuse of gerunds, duplicate paragraphs (bad editing) are ruining the narrative and distracting from the story.
D/S between the Captain and Emil is not very convincing. In the one and only scene this far I was trying to figure out a very confusing, ever changing position of the Captain's feet on and around Emil instead of concentrating on the interaction between the two men. There is no chemistry between them whatsoever
Not enough world building to use "Christ" as a swear or "briefs" as underwear 🙄
What is the purpose of putting someone on a night watch if they are trapped inside their head and can't see the surroundings? 🤦♀️
Non con with Ress in the jerk off circle was appalling. There are plenty of books on my shelfs with bdsm, d/s,non con and abuse tags, but this was something else.
I can go on but I've already wasted enough of my time on this disaster.
Not the rollicking pirate adventure I was expecting. It reads much more like a Nifty story, complete with multiple liaisons, disturbing sexual violence and haphazard editing. Still, somewhere in there is a compelling yarn about a sentient and malevolent pirate ship. The last few pages in particular kept me mesmerized. Not a romance, no HEA. Does not include trigger warnings or content notes, which should include: self harm, sexual assault, violence, breath control, and probably others I'm not thinking of.
Not a bad story overall, but the dude is in serious need of a competent editor or proofreader. Many sentences were repeated, several paragraphs were repeated, chapters 14 and 15 were almost. Identical, and it seems a chapter was missing between 16 and 17. The ending was kind of abrupt, probably because of the missing chapter. Also, I doubt there were boxer briefs or BFF’s during the time period in which this story was set. Good luck, author, but I will not be continuing the journey with you.
I had a hard time with this book. I liked the idea. However, I didn't feel the connection between the main MMC's. Some trigger warnings would be nice too. There were some undertones, and scenes that were too much for me. I would give it another try after a good re-edit.
