Society has rules. All it takes is one night in a deadly house party to break them all. Survive the night to claim your demon.
Haden Being attached to an incorruptible man is my personal fires. The demon inside me desires chaos and craves ruination. When Zoe breezes into my life, she might become my chance at salvation.
Throwing a cursed house party might not be the easiest approach, but how else will I convince an innocent soul to tap into her feminine rage and kill for me?
Zoe Being at this house party is my personal fires, but everything changes with him. Haden ignites something in me, threatening to unleash the rage I never knew I had.
When the deadly curse begins, everyone pales at the bloodshed. What does it say about me that this is the first time I feel free? Finally, I have somewhere to direct my anger and a chance at revenge against those who wronged me.
A dark, sizzling paranormal romance with an unforgettable, morally grey demon. It was supposed to be only one night together, but it may end with eternity. Don’t miss this dark demon duet; it’s a bloody good time.
Her writing style: She will make you angry enough to throw the book across the room, but happy enough to want to do it again and again.
Ariel Rae was raised in a small New Hampshire town but left it behind to attend Emerson College in Boston. After graduating with a degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, she moved to southern California.
Working as a barista, she somehow turned her life into a cliché and met her partner while serving him coffee. They fell in love, got married, adopted a bunch of cats, moved to the rainy side of Oregon, then moved back to New England where it all started.
When she's not writing, she plays video games, drinks tea, reads way too much (though, she wonders if there is such a thing as too much reading), and snowboards.
One thing about me is I LOVE a good horror romance. And with a mix of comedy, 90s horror vibes, and of course some spicy demon romance, Drag Her Down brings it!
A cursed party where only one will survive lends itself to the perfect setting for a final girl to emerge.
“Destroying the festering anger inside these men would be magnificent.”
This book is chock full of rage: of a woman who has had enough of men treating women like playthings, who has had enough of bullies and assholes, and who has straight up just had ENOUGH and starts to embrace the darkness.
““You … fucking—” “If you so much as think the word bitch right now, I will feed you your own balls.””
With a fun, fully-loaded dose of slasher gore, a sarcastic, sexy demon, a badass babe embracing her dark side, and of course some spice in the midst of the terrors, Drag Her Down is a horror romance you won’t want to miss!
“I wanted to consume her, press my lips to hers and devour her soul, and make the spark inside her flicker to life.“
“Truly, I adored the chaos humans created for themselves. They barely needed a demon’s interference.”
Well that was a BLOODY GOOD TIME! Quick read with allll the spice and heavy on the soul corruption. Murderous locked door survival vibes. Cannot wait for the next book in this duet! Recommend for my demon loving, spicy babes!
This was so👏🏼much👏🏼fun! It was like, Can’t Hardly Wait mixed with a 90’s camp horror film. This was such a fun, quick, engaging read and I can’t WAIT for the sequel in this duet. I definitely need more Haden & Zoe in my life.

Drag Her Down is part one in Ariel Rae’s new Spicy Demon Romance Duet. I felt like I was reading a super fun 90’s horror movie. The tone was perfect. It was light, but there were so many poignant moments and statements about our society peppered throughout the story. It’s spicy, romantic, a little gory and full of feminine rage. What more could you ask for?? Oh and there’s a super hot demon, who is obsessively devoted and willing to do anything for his love. Haden is a demon who was summoned and trapped over three years ago. He is determined to get out from under Thomas, (the most boring human ever), by ANY means necessary. Then Zoe walks in and Haden finally has something that claims his attention. Why can Zoe see him when no one else can? He is instantly obsessed with figuring her out and possessing her, body and soul. Now his objective is clear, get rid of Thomas and drag Zoe down with him. One night. One deadly house party. One person left standing. Who will make it out alive and how will Haden make sure he gets everything he wants? I think you will have a blast figuring it out.
As a lover of the cheesy 80s horror flicks, this “survive the night/last one alive” book was fun! A house party with a curse from a demon (Haden) wanting to purge the binding he had from the one who summoned him sets the scene. Since the curse means only one will leave alive, it gives an excuse for the partygoers to let loose their most violent tendencies. The gore doesn’t begin until half way through but you know people are dying due to the descriptions of the aftermath. For the most part it’s off page (minus what directly happens to Zoe).
On the other hand this is a romance! Zoe and Haden have serious chemistry setting the spice off the charts, albeit a bit creepy (Ie he ripped the spine out of someone and it turns her on). Yet the demon has a soft side to him and shows more respect towards women than the other men in Zoe’s life.
The ending leads towards the next book, which I definitely will read as this was both a nostalgic and fun read. I thank the author for the ARC!
What happens when a demon throws a house party in the hopes of seducing someone? You get a fast-paced story of Haden, a demon utterly consumed by his obsession with Zoe—an outcast to most, but to him, a soul so intoxicatingly he's willing to do anything to be with her. Every bit of her calls to his darkest desires, and he can't tear himself away. Desperate and cunning, he devises a wicked plan: trick his current master into throwing the ultimate summer lake house party that could not only secure his freedom but also give him the perfect opportunity to seduce Zoe and drag her deliciously down to his level.
From the very first page, you're hit with fun character banter and dangerously playful seduction between our main characters, but it won't be long before the spice level is cranked up to turning page after page to see what Haden and Zoe do.

“Drag Her Down” was fun, exciting and HOT. The concept of a demon stoking the flames of a quiet girl’s inner rage was well thought out. Not to mention Zoe and Haden had intense on-page chemistry. I can’t wait to see where they go in part two of the series. It helps that I’m a big fan of “survive the night” style horror, especially with the sexy twist of being attracted to the monster. If you’re a fan of 90s horror, you’ll enjoy this book. Though, if I’m getting nitpicky, I did feel like there were too many named characters that softened the impact of their respective side plots. Like if more time was spent with the *actual* villains (no spoilers here!) before the end so the climax would feel more satisfying. All-in-all, I enjoyed this read and I would definitely recommend it to my fellow spicy horror fans!
Absolutely enjoyed this fun little horror romance and cannot wait for book two! Haden and Zoe romance was definitely spicy as they’re both stuck in a murder house due to Haden design. I cannot wait to see how Haden and maybe his best friend get up to once she’s down in the fires. I will say the only thing I struggle with is why she felt such an intense loyalty to her friends when they did nothing but treat her like shit. However, the only turning point for her friend group was Mercedes for murdering Ridley. I do hope they can make up in the fires and maybe have an actual true friendship. Either way definitely reading the next book.

Nothing like getting thrown into a slasher type story with a demon leading the chaos, only to find the demon is hot as the fires, and she's kind of into all the violence. I loved everything about this book! The absolutely forbidden spice, the tension and eventual spiral of humanity, and the curse that craved more blood kept me reading long after I should have gone to sleep. As someone who devours horror movies for comfort almost as much as I devour spicy books, this seemed made for me. I cannot wait for the second book in the duet!
This is one of those books that once you pick it up, you’ll wanna just speed through it. One of those ones that’s very hard to put down. Our MMC is the most likeable demon that you’ll ever meet and our FMC is finding out just how difficult it is to resist his charm, despite his demonic disposition. Five out of five spice though it doesn’t take away that you’ll still wanna know how the storyline turns out. If this is your thing, highly recommend. The book also has a very compelling way of commenting on societal issues without taking you out of the story. Very relatable.
A well-written, fast paced, paranormal survive-the-night-horror romance reminiscent of the 90s-00s comedic horror movies.
A demon is tired of having his perfectly reasonable advice be ignored by his boring summoner. His summoner is tired of being alone. a woman is tired of...well, everything. The solution to everyone's problems is a kegger. And murder.
For those who love when feminine rage and horniness take the wheel.
omgggg i love me a book with demons and haden is the hottest one of them all. 😮💨
this book gave me battle royale vibes at a small town party when everyone is back from college. i wasn’t sure what to expect, but i ATE THIS BOOK UPPPP!
- demon mmc x human fmc - fake friends - boy obsessed - lots and lots of murder
I ate this up! A deal with a demon, a vibe wise 90s house party, and a fmc who is FED UP with all the mediocre men in her life? Yes please. The energy and banter between the main characters, our fed up fmc and the demon who kinda traps everyone in the house for a locked room murder and mayhem, was fantastic! This book is delicious from start to finish.
A quick read that is fun it’s like watch a 90s b-rated horror movie what’s not to love. A cursed party mixed with comedy all the spicy daemon romance. This was a fun and funny read with gore, a sexy demon, a babe embracing her dark side
Fun, pulpy, easy ready. Not my usual wheelhouse, but I picked it up at a brewery book fair and gave it a shot. A supernatural one-off (for now), where the demon gets what they want and there's no real 'hero' in sight.
