Just as life is turning around and a big opportunity is within grasps, having the ex-husband show up is the last thing one wants. Tamara Foles is growing the business she loves, partnering with her best friend. The opportunity to win more clients and really push her company's name out as a premier interior decorator is tied up with a reality TV Show. When Tamara's pigeon holed role as the bitch judge takes a turn for the worse, her ex, Reid Jacobs is the one to help her adjust.

This is a sweet romance as expected from talented Ms. D'abo. The plot is interesting because it takes a behind the scene look at what goes on in a recording and making of a reality show. It's not really that real, is it? I enjoy how Tamara's disillusionment is expressed through her frustrations at her fellow judges as well as the contestants. I can empathize with Tamara because she's the one who I relate to most because of her values and ethics. This is a woman who abhors sleazy politics and doesn't sugar coat her opinions. She's a bit rough for mass media scrutiny, yet she's honest and eventually returns to her roots. This is what I enjoyed about the story. Her ability to pull herself back and reassess what she wants and then take action.

The chemistry between Reid and Tamara is just mediocre. The relationship between the two is riddle with past hurts and baggage. Watching how they are still a little too raw and sensitive to each other's criticism makes a reader uncomfortable yet unwilling to look away. The character growth in this story is how Tamara relates to Reid. It's good to see people change and not fall into their old patterns of destruction. For Reid to open up more about his PTSD to Tamara, it took quite a bit of courage. Tamara's handling of Reid's sharing is better than he expected.

Whilst Tamara didn't get everything she thought she wanted when she joined as part of a cast for a reality TV show, she left with more than she thought. She returns home with what she needs and that is why this is a lovely romance. Sometimes what you really want isn't what you really need. This romance is recommended for those who enjoy second chances themes.

When I started Snapped I had no idea it was a companion to Christine d'Abo's other Cosmo Red Hot Reads novella, Nailed. In fact, if I hadn't thought her name sounded familiar and decided to scroll through her other books on Goodreads I might not even have realized that Snapped featured some of the same characters as Nailed, but I also didn't love Nailed so my memory of it isn't so great.

You certainly don't have to read Nailed to be able to read Snapped. After reading my review of Nailed I wouldn't say I liked Snapped better, I just like Snapped for completely different reasons than I liked Nailed. When I read Nailed I thought Sophia and her background and career were really explored, but I can't say the same for Tamara's in Snapped. Tamara is Sophia's partner in the design business and she's the business-minded one to Sophia's creative-minded personality. Snapped also takes place on the set of a reality show, this one shot in New York, where Tamara is brought into be the hard-ass judge.

While the scenes on the set were interesting, but weren't the strongest part of the book. I actually would have liked to know more about the reality show itself, the contestants, and the other two judges. The glimpses we got were a tad disjointed and I never really got a feel for what was going on. Plus Tamara is supposed to be this great business mind and we never got to see that.

Unlike Nailed I really enjoyed the romance between Tamara and Reid. They had dated several years ago and ended their relationship on bad terms. Both of them are surprised to find themselves working together on the new reality show with Reid being the assistant director. Their relationship was certainly steamy, but I also liked their banter and personalities together outside of the steamier scenes. Reid's back story as a former army medic was interesting as well and while I would have liked to see it fleshed out a little more I understand why it wasn't.

Bottom Line: Snapped is a fun, quick Red Hot Read that kept me entertained the entire time. While I wish there were more of some things (Tamara's professional life) it is a novella and not everything can be explored as much as in a book. In the end this was fun and sexy and that's what i want from one of these Cosmo novellas.

I received an electronic review copy of this novella from the publisher via NetGalley (thank you!). All opinions are my own.

Tamara is taking a leap and participating as a judge on a reality TV show. What she didn't count on was he ex, Reid, serving as an assistant director on the production. Years ago all they did was fight and even though Tamara loved him she had to walk away. Reid had a lot of anger after returning from his deployment and didn't know how to process his feelings so he took it out on Tamara. Now that he's gotten the help that he needs he's ready to try again with the woman he loves. But can Tamara welcome him back in to her life after she was left heart broken the last time? A sweet, sexy novella. My only issue was that I didn't really feel a connection between Tamara and Reid. A lot of their emotional development depending on their previous relationship so I didn't feel very much growth from them on this second chance. Otherwise, good read.

After a string of books I couldn't finish, I picked up this novella and while it didn't light my world on fire - I finished it. So that's saying something. I liked the reality TV show backdrop and the first person narration. I also liked that the heroine had some harder edges to her and I'm always a sucker for a reunion romance. What didn't work as well for me was the subplot involving a business deal the heroine is working on and the first couple of sex scenes - which take place in abandoned buildings in New York City. Uh, hello? Rats? Vagrants? Drug addicts? Am I the only one whose brain works like this?

This is tied into an earlier novella release (Nailed - which featured the heroine's BFF), and while it's obvious the two stories are connected, I thought Snapped held up well as a stand-alone read. Not fantastic, but I'd read this author again.

When I requested this from NetGalley I had no idea it was a companion to Christine d'Abo's other Cosmo Red Hot Reads novella Nailed.....I actually kinda forgot about the book and characters. You don't have to read Nailed before this one, as it was after I finished it that it dawned on me that it followed the other book.

Anyway....this was a good short read and I did enjoy it a bit more then I did Nailed. The romance between Tamara & Reid was great and I love a good "second chance" romance. I do wish we could have had a bit more of Tamara's professional side but that is the one drawback with novellas. All in all this was a fun, sexy & entertaining read.

‘Three years ago we’d been bad for each other, fighting constantly. This Reid was far calmer, happier than he’d been back then. He was clearly better off without me.’

What do you get when a self-proclaimed Ice Queen and her moody ex-boyfriend are forced to work together on a television set? Chemistry. Tons and tons of delicious chemistry along with the possibility of a reconciliation.

Snapped was a passionate Cosmo Red-Hot Reads novella that truly kept my attention. Right from the start, I could tell that there was more behind Tamara’s frosty exterior than meets the eye.

Snapped by Christine d'Abo was gifted to me for an honest review. This book is a fun read with a sexy twist. Tamara and Reid brought the heat. These two characters push each others buttons just to get a reaction. Highly recommended read.
