Long before Mason left Willow Bend, Ryan met his mate and brought her home...this is the prequel to the Wolves of Willow Bend and the story of Ryan and Tiffany.

Ryan Huston serves the pack in all their public financial dealings. Connected politically and personally, he possesses a unique ability to segue into and out of human life. He’s never been afraid to use his animal’s dominance to his advantage and, though he and Toman—the Alpha of Willow Bend—are often at odds, his loyalty to the pack has never truly been tested. Not until he meets Tiffany.

Tiffany Anderson grew up hard in a world defined by its uncertainties. Meeting Giles Taglioni seemed like a happy accident turned fairy tale. Five years into the abusive marriage, Tiffany wants out. Tiffany knows Taglioni will never let go of his daughter—he’d kill her before he lets her take Alexis away from him. A desperate woman with no options until a chance encounter changes everything.

Ryan is like no one Tiffany’s ever met, but she doesn’t dare believe him when he offers to help her. Long ago made familiar with the monsters in the dark, she doesn’t dream of princes on white horses sweeping her away. She also never imagined a big, bad wolf was exactly what she needed.

I love books. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Books were my best friends when I was growing up. Books didn’t care if I was new to a town or to a class. They were always there, my trustiest of companions. Until they turned on me and said I had to write them.

I can tell you that my own personal happily ever after included writing books. I’ve always said that an HEA is a work in progress. It’s true in my marriage, my friendships, and in my career. I am constantly nurturing my muse as we dive into new tales, new tropes, new characters and more.

After seventeen years back in Texas, we relocated to the Pacific Northwest in search of seasons, new experiences, and new geography. I can’t wait to discover what life (and my muse) have in store for me.

Maybe writing was always my destiny and romance my fate. After all, my grandmother wasn’t a fan of picture books and used to read me her Harlequin Romance novels.

Friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, friends to enemies to lovers, you name it, I love them and love to write them. I started with Earth Witches Aren’t Easy, the first in the Chance Monroe trilogy, but my characters and I have traveled a long way since I created that urban fantasy world.

One of the series I hear my readers recommend the most is the Untouchable series followed in quick succession by the Vandals, and that just delights me. No lie, whenever one of my readers brings up my wolves, I do a little a fist pump.

I’m active on social media, and I love hearing from readers. Feel free to tag me with a question about any of my books, or just say hi!

This novella was a fun and sexy prequel to the Wolves of Willow Bend series. I'm not always a fan of prequels but this book gave some back story to characters that we see throughout the series. I would recommend this book as a nice edition to anyone who enjoys PNR/shifter series. Heather Long creates an exciting world where shifters mix with humans.

I really enjoyed this book. Although Ryan knew that Tiffany was his mate, he took the time to get to know her, provide her with what she needed, and protected her. He allowed her to get to know him in a not threatening way. Tiffany was broken and needed to find a way to heal. When she feels that her child is threaten, she will go to any length to protect her. Having to rely on someone to help you when you have been dealt blow after blow takes strength of character. This is one of my favorite shifter books. Kudos to the author.

Good read, short but to the point. Not sure about what’s going on with Toman but it seems that him and Ryan will be butting heads soon. No real action besides Tiffany’s ex but I’m thinking something is going to happen with Toman. Seems no one wants him as alpha but it also seems like Ryan doesn’t want to take him on even if he could. Guess I’ll read the next one to see what’s going to happen.

The Wolves of Willow Bend Series is one of my all time favorites. I've recently started re-reading and decided to be sure I have reviewed all of them so others can find them too.
This is the prequel to the series, originally I went back to read this after I read Wolf Bite, the first book. I am going in order this time around.

Ryan is in Chicago on pack business, buying more land abutting Willow Bend. While he's there he's approached by a pack mate there for a tech conference, Will needs to send his daughter Margo to boarding school. Far away from their Alpha Toman.

It's after this meeting that he learns of a plot to foil his purchase in favor of a man named Taglioni. He moves to greet these men discussing what they shouldn't know and hopefully squash their plotting.

Ryan first sees Tiffany and her daughter Alexa on the train platform on his way back to his hotel, He's immediately taken with her. Then he sees the bruising on her face and decides to follow her. Maybe he could stop the abuse.

Tiffany is looking for a lawyer, she wants a divorce and sole custody of her daughter. Only she can't find one that's not afraid to go up against her husband Giles Taglioni.

Ryan figures out a way to approach her and takes her case. I totally love Ryan! His interactions with Alexis and his love for Tiffany shine through even as he works to free her from her abusive marriage.

I laughed and cried and loved every single wolf we meet. From Mason and his parents to Margo and hers this story is the perfect beginning to the Willow Bend Saga.

Wolf At Law is a paranormal romance by Heather Long. I've read a few shifter books lately that have been flat and blah...those authors should get a clue from Heather Long. Ms. Long has provided readers with a book that is well-written and loaded with outstanding characters. Ryan is a lawyer for his pack. Tiffany is trying to escape with her son from an abusive husband but can't find a lawyer to help her. Ryan and Tiffany's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Heather Long in the future. Wolf At Law is book 0.5 of the Wolves of Willow Bend Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Instafreebie. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ryan is a pivotal character in this series due to being the pack lawyer and it is nice to read his story as we get information on other characters we read about going forward.
But there is a big time gap after this as Tiffany’s daughter, (Ryans soon to be adopted daughter) from this book is the heroine in book one.
Not really a lot happening, mainly Tiffany’s nasty ex causing problems though we do see the terrible Alpha Tomas do his dirty deeds.
I read and reviewed this series more years ago than I want to remember.
Seeing there are a lot more books added to this series, I am rereading them through Kindle Unlimited.

Received through Instafreebie:

Wolf at Law appears to be the start of a series. It is a very quick read but apparently allows the reader a much needed preempt to the series. Look forward to seeing where this series goes from here and see how the characters continue to develop.

Note: For some this could offer triggers due to domestic violence issues.

This was such a sweet story. Tiffany really pulled at my heart strings. She was such a strong woman. I adored her daughter Alexis too. Ryan reminded me of Elijah from The Originals. He had that cool and calm demeanor. That elegance but would whoop your ass like you stole something from him. This was a great start to the series.

Received this book free for an honest review. She is a new author to me. Really enjoyed this book. I like shifter books, this has a real story behind it. This book contains abuse which may trigger some readers, but it shows what u can do if u are strong enough. Loved the charactors.

### About the Author

National bestselling author, Heather Long, likes long walks in the park, science fiction, superheroes, Marines, and men who aren't douche bags. Her books are filled with heroes and heroines tangled in romance as hot as Texas summertime. From paranormal historical westerns to contemporary military romance, Heather might switch genres, but one thing is true in all of her stories--her characters drive the books. When she's not wrangling her menagerie of animals, she devotes her time to family and friends she considers family. She believes if you like your heroes so real you could lick the grit off their chest, and your heroines so likable, you're sure you've been friends with women just like them, you'll enjoy her worlds as much as she does.

This is an original review from http://bookedandloaded.com - I personally purchased this book. All opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

Wolf at Law is a novella prequel to the Wolves of Willow Bend series and focuses on Ryan Hudsons- the pack's attorney. Wolf at Law is Ryan's story after he stumbles into his mate, Tiffany on a business trip outside of pack territory.

This prequel added some real depth to currently released books. I was surprised at how much exactly it did enrich the other stories. There was something about the dire situation Tiffany was in and a true Prince Charming feel to Ryan in this story that I was not quite expecting. Tiffany is desperately trying to get out of an abusive marriage - her mind is made up and she is leaving, but what do you do when your spouse appears to have control over every lawyer in town? Well, I am certainly not going to tell you! Just read Wolf at Law and find out!

Long continues to create nothing short of breathtaking stories. The mix of snark and chivalry in a suit was a combination that created an overall pleasurable reading experience. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series!

I rate Wolf at Law 4 out of 5 Bullets!

Can't wait for book 4

I read a paranormal book by Heather Long about a year ago titled Haunt Me. It was the first book of hers that I'd ever read and I really liked her writing style. When Amazon recommended Wolf Bite, I figured I would give it a shot. I really enjoyed it, and the second and third books as well. The character's in this book make appearances throughout the series so it was nice to get their back story.

Ryan, one of the more dominant wolves of Willow Bend and in essence a senior aide to pack alpha Toman, comes across a human while out of town on a business trip. He sees her vulnerabilities and his instinct is to protect.

Tiffany doesn't know what to make of the man who's approached her and offered to help. Is he on her husband's payroll? Is he a threat to her daughter? Her gut says she can trust him, but she's made that mistake before. She decides to go with her gut and only hopes to not regret it.

I really like how the author handled this book. There was angst, drama, and even some suspense but she didn't go overboard. I hate when authors try to pack too much into a novella and Heather Long handled it perfectly. It was a sweet romance with just the right amount of conflict. I can't wait for Margo's book and I'm so glad we got a peek into her past as well.

This is a prequel of sorts and can be read stand alone. This book explains the back history of one of the most enigmatic secondary characters of the Wolves of Willow Bend and the story of Ryan and Tiffany and how he came to be the father of Alexis who we met in the first book Wolf Bite. If you’ve not read this series I’d start with this and then go on to devour the rest.
Heather long brings to life some of the most incredible characters on the page. These are folks that you would love to meet and hang out with or maybe just drool over and yet none of them are “perfect”. They each have flaws whether personality, physical, or circumstance but by the end of each book you feel like you know them or want to know them better. Ryan was already in an established relationship when we first met him in Wolf Bite and you just had to love him in Caged Wolf so I really wasn’t expecting his story but I am so glad we got it. This story fills in the backstory of each of the books to date and after having read it I am sure it sets up Margo’s story coming up in Rogue Wolf. If you like strong, smart, honorable types who care and protect without smothering (for the most part) you will love this series and this book.

No matter in what order i read these books they are amazing!!!

Seems like i had missed some books in my favorite series ever so i am catching up and as always Heather Long doesn't disappoint.
I love how her stories flow so easily and how she always manages to built up the agony and the excitment and then slowly but masterfully bring you down and wrap it all up in a perfect ending.

This is the first book in the Willow Bend Wolves and if you don't know the series it leaves you wanting more...If you do know the series it makes you wanna re read it just to feel all those highs and lows along with each one wolf and mate we get to meet.

Amazing ad complicated stories with well written characters that promise us an enjoyable time reading.

Most prequels I read are good but not THIS good! Heather Long's Wolf At Law was sexy and was one of the most awesome reads I have read this year. Nothing is better to me then a knight in shinning armor saving the damsel in distress. I thought this story was set up really good, the romance strong and passionate. The trust and kindness was fantastic to behold. I really liked seeing a female that already had a child. I LOOVED the hot sex and thought everything came together beautifully. I am always amazed by Heather Long's storytelling. She created a perfect world of shifters that I can't seem to get enough of. Keep them coming woman!

I really enjoyed the story of Ryan and Tiffany. I read Wolf Bite first and was very interesting in finding out how Ryan and Tiffany first met and when I found out a Prequel had been written I was so excited. Ryan loves Tiffany from the first moment that they met on the subway platform and decided at that moment he would do anything to make sure she was always safe and protected. I couldn't wait for him to finally come face to face with Tiffany's abusive husband Giles and I wasn't disappointed in the outcome. Do yourself a favor and grab this book now. I will be continuing my stay in Willow Bend by reading the other books in the series.

When he meets her at the station he feels she is his mate.
But she is big trouble, because of her husband is an evil man who beats her.
Now it is has been enough as she wants out together with her daughter.
Luckily she has Ryan who protects her, but she needs some time to trust him.
I like the way Ryan is taking care of her husband, he deserved that and more.
Soon she understands that Ryan only wants the best for her and starts trusting him.

A nice background story. I really liked the story. I purchased books 1-3 together as an Amazon deal. I read them over the weekend. I liked the story development and the characters so much that over the last two weeks, I have read books 4 through 10. The characters were well developed, and although each book was a standalone, there was thread of continuity and overlapping characters throughout. The story came to life and the last book, although not a cliffie, makes you really want to read the next one (which is not out until March, 2017). Well worth your time and money to read the series.

Ryan is my favorite wolf in Willow Bend. He's sneaky and manipulative and completely brilliant all wrapped up in one hot man. I like that Tiffany is a strong woman in spite of her circumstances and because of her daughter. I loved seeing how Ryan earned his family and just how his ailities gain him the respect of the pack even if he isn't the #1 Alpha.

Good story, love the knight in shining armor routine when there's a young child involved. Sets off all the warning flags for the mom and makes it just as hard to overcome as it does appeal. I loved how the reveal of werewolves happened because Rory misspoke without thinking, it felt like how something big should be hard to keep secret.

What a wonderful Prequel to the series Wolves of Willow Bend. I'd already read 2 of the books before reading this. If I were you, I'd start the series here.
Heather Long knows her stuff and writes it well enough to keep your nose in the book.

Really enjoyed this story, nothing complicated and a good example of a sweet romance with a lovely protective shifter who comes in to save the day (magnificently I might add) for his destined mate. Would definitely read more of this author.

It never pays to tick off the man who knows where all the bodies are buried! Ryan is that man in the Willow Bend pack. When he comes across Tiffany and her daughter in Chicago, he is drawn to her and makes it his business to help her. Can anyone say "Little Red Riding Hood?"
