Atticus Knox has long harbored a crush on his older sister’s best friend since college. So when she parks her RV in his Colorado hockey town, he wonders if this is his chance. He's recovering from an injury and preparing for a charity skate. Raleigh showing up makes him question his stance on never dating, born from watching his father's disastrous love life.

Soon their flirty lessons blur into more than coach-student roles, stirring up memories of their New Year’s Eve kiss. Her sabbatical is ending and her past isn’t staying behind her, so they both need to was this a temporary detour, or is it a second chance worth fighting for?

I read this in July and I'm still thinking about it. I actually know a couple that met when they were younger but missed the moment. She went on to marry someone else (admittedly I did not approve of him). After they divorced, she reconnected with her friend from her late teens, and it was magic! Maybe that's part of why I connect to this story, it feels very real, both in its particulars and setting. And I LOVE the chicken!

Meet Raleigh a Pharmacist who is recently divorced and taking a sabitical to take a break from her life.

Meet Atticus, hockey player and Raleigh’s best friend brother, who has had a crush on her since college. He’s recovering from an injury when Rayleigh comes into town. He’s a self proclaimed player but the way he treats Raleigh says otherwise. He showers her with gifts and pays attention to all the small details about her.

I really loved Atticus teammates and their relationships as well. My husband is a red head with curly so I love that Atticus had curly red hair. You see a lot of FMCs with red hair but not MMCs.
Such a cute love story!

Absolutely loved this book and enjoyed getting Atticus and Raleigh after getting to know them in book 1, Just One Season!
The banter, the drama, Megghen, the Pink Palace, it was so so beautifully written to create a truly memorable story!

I absolutely loved Any Second Now! 8 week sabbatical, The Pink Palace, and a chicken, how could you not love it?! This is an interconnected sequel to Just One Season and it did not disappoint! We actually met Atticus and Raleigh in Just One Season and oh man was I hoping for theirs next! You don’t have to read book 1 to enjoy this one but I think you should! Atticus is such a sweet guy and poor Raleigh has been divorced twice so she isn’t quite ready to jump into something new but with Atticus, is it really new? Ugh it was so cute and funny! Just go read it already!

I'm so happy to be back in Fort Collins with the Blizzard boys. Atticus was a great character, growing and learning to trust in love and relationships, while Raleigh was in a different journey after her second divorce and somehow ended up spending time with her college crush, adopting a chicken, living in a RV and starting a side business of cross-stiching funny quotes.
The story was funny and well-paced, with summer vacation vibes. The characters were well-constructed, even though they could get a little repetitive on their insistence of not getting over their issues. But the end was satisfying.
Waiting excitedly to see which Blizzards player is falling next...

Oh where do I start?!?! Other than Reese I think Raleigh is one of my favorites.
The way Lucy is nothing but supportive of Atticus and Raleigh is amazing especially w HT en they have been crushing since college
This was another person little spice book I was needing in my life.

Truly I related to Raleigh on so many different levels I love when the FMC is in her 30’s and trying to refund themselves
The Pink Palace is now something I would aspire to do one day.

This is another example of if Chrissy writes it I’ll read it

Spice Level: 3/5 – Well written and balanced

This was a fun, lighthearted read with a sweet romance at its core. I really enjoyed Raleigh as a character! Her love of cross-stitching and her attempt to reinvent herself added a quirky, relatable touch to her character. The banter between Raleigh and Atticus was charming, and I often found myself smiling at the banter and bond they shared.

I especially appreciated the way Atticus consistently showed up for Raleigh in thoughtful, tangible ways, whether that was through small gifts or gestures that proved he paid attention to what she needed.

And I have to mention Megghen the chicken, who made for a surprisingly delightful and memorable side character!

On the flip side, I did struggle with Raleigh’s lack of boundaries regarding her ex-husband, as well as how heavily influenced she still was by her mother’s opinions at age 34. While these traits made sense for her growth arc, they grew a bit frustrating at times. That said, I was glad to see her development by the end.

Around the 80% mark, the story felt slightly repetitive. Atticus worrying about being like his father and Raleigh worrying about disappointing her mom and not living her life on a spreadsheet, but the pacing picked back up, and I truly enjoyed the ending. I also liked the subtle setup for what could be a potential future romance between one of Atticus’s teammates and Raleigh’s best friend.

Overall, this book is a sweet sports romance with likable characters, heartfelt moments, and a tactful amount of spice. I’d recommend it to readers who enjoy hockey romance with humor, charm, and a satisfying happily-ever-after.

This book was so amazing! Chrissy Hopewell has hit it out of the park again. I thought I loved fake dating by committee but the yearning of best friends brother was even better! Raleigh and Atticus might be my favorite characters from this series. I love how Chrissy weaves in the cutest little animals side characters. First Waffles and now with Megghen. Soooo…..when can we have the next book 👀

Raleigh always had her life planned out, but at 34 going through a second divorce, she realized maybe she needed to step away from the spreadsheets and find out what was going wrong. She never imagined that she would find it all while on sabbatical from her pharmacists job, living in a pink RV in Colorado. Nor did she imagine that her bff’s younger brother would be playing a huge part of it. But having fun, winging it and finding true love is exactly what she needed. The question now is would she stay or would she run back to her “normal” life.

While Atticus had had a crush on his older sister’s bff for years he would never act on it because he was bound and determined to not be like his father going from relationship to relationship and wife to wife. But when that crush popped back into the picture he realized maybe he had to take a chance. Maybe he wasn’t going to be like his dad at all. But was she willing to take the chance as well?

There were times I loved it and other times I was frustrated with this book, especially the way the ex kept coming back into Raleigh’s life. He wasn’t normal, he was a stalker point blank. Then there were things that just kept repeating so to say. It probably could have been a bit shorter. All in all though it was still a good book. The best character in this book is not one of the main characters but an out of the way character – Megghen. In case you can’t figure it out by the name it is the name of a chicken who literally knocked on the door and then came right in. Part of me hopes she will pop up once in awhile as the series continues.

Thanks to the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am soo happy to be back in Fort Collins with this team!

On the heels of Lucy and Kellen's HEA, we now get to see her brother Atticus find his forever with his college crush (and Lucy's best friend), Raleigh. I was really invested in Raleigh's reason for being in FoCo to begin with, and her quest to not have everything so planned out in her life. I think that's why this was so easy to read - I was very focused in these character's journeys. Definitely easy to relate to the storyline.

Atticus isn't without his own internal questioning, and reassessment of who he wants to be, and how to get what he wants from life. He's already a hot-as-sin, professional hockey player, with all the benefits of that, but it's not delivering him what he wants.
(Because, deep down, he wants Raleigh! hehehe)

These two have great chemistry together, and I loved how he shows up for her, never directing her path but supporting it. Between the Pink Palace, Zombie cross stitch, and Megghen - his cinnamon roll acts of kindness were adorable, IYK,YK. The banter between Lucy, January, and Raleigh is great, just as it is with Atticus, Lachlan, Keller and the rest of his team.

I'm thrilled that I knew the backstories of this crew before I began this read, having already consumed those stories, but you can absolutely begin your love affair with this author right here, and go back and fill in. But grab this one, right now - you'll be glad you did!!

I was fortunate to have received and ARC (thank you) and happily leave my thoughts.

He’s a NFL hockey player who’s always secretly harbored a crush on his sister’s best friend. She’s a twice divorced cross stitch queen and has never thought of him as more than the partying college kid he was over 10 years ago. Raleigh now has 8 weeks off work and is headed to a certain hockey player’s town. Atticus has been wondering if maybe that New Year’s Eve kiss they shared 6 months ago could be more. When his teammate mentions Atticus needing dating lessons in front of Raleigh, she turns into his dating coach!

I loved the premise, pacing, characters and the writing. I loved how hockey is truly a part of the story and we get to see several of Atticus’s teammates and his fun brotherly interactions with them. This is book 2 in a connected series and we get cameos of characters from book 1, but I loved how this book can totally be read as a stand alone. I love the strong female friendships we get with Raleigh and her two best friends.

Some of my favorite things in this one:
💕 Second chance romance
🐓 Fun chicken character named Megghen
👫 Best friend’s brother
🏒 Hockey romance

I read an early copy of this book.

I really enjoyed Any Second Now and I'm grateful to this new-to-me author for a chance to ARC read this. This was a sweet, low spice, middle ground angst, best friends brother romance. FMC Raleigh takes a sabbatical after a divorce to find herself. 6 months prior she indulged in a New Year's Eve kiss with MMC Atticus - a man she's known since their college days, professional hockey player, and "player". Raleigh has always "followed the rules" and the life plans she and her mother planned out for a safe, boring life. She takes her sabbatical to get away from said life (including her stalker-ish ex) driving cross country in her newly purchased pink camper (not part of the boring life plans by any means). She spends several weeks with Atticus and they strike up a romance, much to both their chagrins - she doesn't want to re-bound and he has trauma from his dads serial dating/marriages. The side characters were enjoyable - I'll def be going back and reading Chrissy's previous work. It's angsty without too much drama and the open door spice isn't super spicey (maybe 2 peppers). Hockey is mostly in the background - which worked great for this story.

This book is book 2 in the Fort Collins Blizzard Hockey series, I really was waiting for this one after reading "Just One Season". If you've read that one... Atticus (the MMC) is Lucy's (the previous FMC) brother!

I absolutely LOVED Rayleigh and Atticus.
This story was so easy to get in to. It's a lighthearted, cozy and fun second chance romance, with such a relatable Millenial FMC. She is a quirky, funny, lovable woman in her 30's who is reinventing herself. She is just awesome. And Atticus is the NFL player who always has been crazy about his sisters best friend. He is such a thoughtful and dreamy MMC, who keeps showing up for Rayleigh in the cutest way (the small gestures and gifts are all any woman needs).
Their love story is so well thought out, love a happy ending. The side character were super well written and I hope to see more of them in the next book.

And I love they way Chrissy writes the cutest pets into this series, Megghen the chicken is the best!!

Thanks to Chrissy Hopewell for entrusting me with an advanced copy to write an honest review about.

Any Second Now follows Atticus Knox, hockey star and hopeless womanzer, as he falls head-over...chicken for his sisters best friend Raleigh. Raleigh comes stumbling into town and knocks Atticus' world down onto its foundations as she's trying to piece together life post divorce. Sparks and feathers fly as soon as her RV stops.

You can feel the tension rekindle between the main characters from the first book as soon as they set eyes on each other in the RV park and that momentum doesn't stop throughout the book. The emotions are high from the start and the roller coaster they go on is palpable. Chrissy Hopewell does a fantastic job of portraying their emotions and grabbing the readers attention. She skillfully breaks up all the tense emotions in this novel with humor, and a chicken. It was refreshing having so many characters from the first book of the series away for most of the book so that this sequel can really focus on building the relationship between Atticus and Raleigh.

Overall, a fantastic read and even better than the first in the series.

4.5 ⭐️
I can always count on Chrissy to deliver a fun romance!!

Any Second Now follows Raleigh, a twice-divorced woman who takes an 8-week sabbatical (cause who doesn’t need a breather after getting divorced and has a clingy ex-husband?) and ends up in Fort Collins to spend time with her best friend. Except her best friend is visiting another one of their friends out of the country for 6 of the 8 weeks of her sabbatical… but, Raleigh knew that. But if she knew that, why did she still go? Well, I guess since she’s there, may as well spend some time with her friends BROTHER, Atticus, a gorgeous hockey player that doesn’t date, but has had a crush on her since college. WHAT COULD GO WRONG? Or… right? 😅😍

I ate this book up, as I do for all of Chrissy’s books! There were so many moments that had me lol-ing, swooning, and melting into a puddle. Chrissy always has great banter in her books which is one of the most fun parts about a romance book! There’s always great character growth in her books as well, so you’re left feeling satisfied and giddy! Would recommend!

Third time lucky
Atticus and Raleigh have always had a connection, flirting with each other but never crossing the line and taking it further.
Now years later and with two divorces behind her Raleigh needs to get away from a life that no longer satisfies her.
Taking a sabbatical she heads out in her newly purchased, second hand pink RV to visit her best friend.
Once she has arrived, with her girlfriend overseas, her brother Atticus is sent to go check on her.
This is where the fun starts along with the mutual attraction they have for each other.
Trying to hide how they feel backfires when they are in close proximity to each other.
With a chicken called Megghen, some cross stitching fun, plus dating coaching going on this is a fun, romantic, sometimes steamy story.
Fantastic characters and storyline.
I absolutely loved it and look forward to more stories in this series.
I received a free copy of this novel from the author and this is my honest review.

I loved everything about this book! I read mostly romance but it’s hit or miss for me and this was definitely one of my favourites. I can’t wait to read more by Chrissy.

The characters were realistically written and the writing was a perfect balance for me. Romance can be hit or miss for me but this one is perfect. Not overly trope-y and although it had some spice it wasn’t overdone and spicy just for the sake of being spicy and fit well with the overall story.

When I first requested it, I didn’t think I would like it that much. The divorce angle didn’t appeal to me as it might for some (it really didn’t matter to me if the character was divorced or not but some may have chosen it for that very reason) and I wasn’t sure how much of the focus would be on that. I was surprised how much I really enjoyed this author.

Many thanks to Fox Hollow Publishing LLC, Chrissy Hopewell, and NetGalley for the ARC of Any Second Now in exchange for an honest review.

A chicken, cross-stitch, and hockey--what more could a reader in her thirties want these days?! This book surprised me with how much it captivated me from the beginning. When reading the description, I was thinking "another hockey romance because everyone is doing it" but this one can hold its own. It has unique content and speaks to my grandma hobby loving heart. The main characters were both relatable and people you could meet in real life. With this being a romance, there is some spice but would give it a 2/5 chili peppers and didn't take away from the overall movement of the book.

This was my first read of Chrissy Hopewell and honestly, I went and added additional books of hers to my TBR.

Initially, I picked this book purely for the pink cover and hockey trope, but OMG I fell in love!

Any Second Now combines some of my fave things: Main Characters in their 30s, a crafty cross-stitch loving FMC who's finding herself and a Hockey Playing "player" MMC who's determined to not become his dad!

This book really showed the growth of both characters in such a real and humorous way! I loved seeing Raleigh learn to set boundaries with her toxic ex and to see Atticus fall more and more in love with her!

The humour in this book was on point as well as their banter (and Megghen's too!)

I was really worried the epilowur was going to rush Raleigh's growth, so I was so pleased to see that wasn't the case!

Thank you to Chrissy Hopewell, Fox Hollow Publishing LLC and Netgalley for the ARC!

Home is: chickens, hockey, the Pink Palace, zombie movies.
And us.

Read if you like:
-Sister's Best Friend
-Starting Over
-Sabbaticals
-Chickens
-RVs
-Cross-Stitch
-Hanging Out Over the Hockey Off Season
-Dating Lessons (but it's all a ploy to spend time with her)

Is this a hockey romance? Yes. But is this also a romance about falling in love when you least expect it, with your best friend's brother, who loves watching zombie movies with you, supports your cross-stitch side hustle, and takes care of your emotional support chicken. Too niche? Too bad, because I'm going to need you to read it. Any Second Now is both laugh out loud funny and emotional. It hit all the right notes and I loved the experience.

Chrissy Hopewell is always going to deliver in the romance game, and this book is no exception.

Raleigh is divorced-again- and on the road in her RV for a two month break.

Atticus is a hockey player AND a player.

They've met before- shared a kiss- and now they are thrust together once more. Raleigh signs up to be Atticus's dating coach, but as time goes on, they realize they could be something together. Something real and different from past relationships.

This is fun and such a good read! You'll root for true love and enjoy the spice along the way. Bonus points if you love hockey (like me!)!

Thank you for the early read!!

I absolutely loved this second hockey romance by Chrissy Hopewell! The characters were so refreshing - their history, Raleigh’s past relationships, Atticus’s relaxed personality. The RV setting was unique and Megghen was such a great bonus character. The spice was so fun, and they had so much chemistry. But most of all I just love Chrissy’s writing style and the way she weaves in real-life issues without making it too heavy. The borderline (or was it even borderline?) stalking from her ex - paired with her realization of her enablement. Divorce. The characters feel like real people with real issues. It reminds me so much of Abby Jimenez’s writing style and content. 5/5! Highly recommend.

The second one in the series, whether there'll be anymore time will tell. What I can say, is this is the last for me! Yes it was nice to meet some of the same characters again and follow the Fort Collins Blizzard. The actual hockey content is minimal at best. The sex and swearing was warned of upfront so you do know what you're going to get. What was not appreciated or warned about in this was the lack of proofing, and everyone knows I've been a proofreader in a previous life. I was reporting mistakes page after page after page. Spelling mistakes galore. Put me right off! So that's enough of the purple and yellow for me, I'll stick to the black and gold!

It was so nice to be back with the Blizzard boys for book two! Atticus was a standout character from book one, and I loved getting to follow his journey as he grows and learns to trust in love. Raleigh, meanwhile, is on a completely different path after her second divorce. She somehow finds herself hanging out with her college crush, adopting a chicken, living in an RV, and starting a side hustle cross-stitching hilarious quotes.
This story had so many laugh-out-loud moments. The pacing was spot-on, the characters were well developed, and the whole thing was just such a fun read. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to see whose story comes next!

This was such a sweet second chance, best friend’s brother/sister’s best friend romance. Atticus and Raleigh have been low key crushing on each other since college. After her second divorce, Raleigh takes a sabbatical from her job and heads west in her newly acquired RV. Her best friend isn’t there for most of the time, and she ends up spending a lot of time with Lucy’s brother, Atticus, and their somewhat dormant feelings wake back up. Slowish burn with moderate spice and a tiny third act breakup. Loved it, and I can’t wait for more from this series!

I’ve enjoyed all of Chrissy Hopewell’s books, and Any Second Now is no exception! It’s a sweet sports romance (with spice) that has lots of cute and funny touches, as well a real personal growth for both Atticus and Raleigh. I loved The Pink Palace RV, Megghen the chicken, funny cross stitch sayings and a little bit of hockey along the way.

This is a fun book for you, if you enjoy
• Professional sports characters
• Forever crushes
• Best friend’s little brother-to-lovers
• The angst of deciding again in your 30’s who you really are.

Thanks to Chrissy Hopewell for the ARC!

After all the banter and the flirting between Raleigh and Atticus I was so excited to get a story between them!
I love how Atticus encourages Raleigh to be herself and takes an interest in her hobbies and genuinely cares about her.
Raleigh and her connection with Megghen makes me laugh because as a chicken owner myself, I talk to my chickens all the time and give them their own voices too. 🤣 I have a chicken named Hennifer and now feel like her best friend should be Megghen.
I really enjoyed this read and 100% recommend it! ❤️

This was good. I instantly fell for Atticus at "Hey, pretty lady." I enjoyed both characters and felt I really understood they both have traumas that really made them hesitant to go into relationships. I do feel like there wasn't much growth to let go of or work through those traumas. By the time the book ended, it just kind of....happened.

This could potentially be read as a standalone with minor character spoilers for book one.

Spicy, hockey romance, finding love/again, animal side kick tropes.

This is my honest review after reading an Advanced Copy of this book.

This was such a cute story! I love Raleigh and Atticus. There were quite a few spelling and grammar mistakes throughout the story, but that's okay. I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It was cute and quirky. Raleigh reminds me of myself and others that are trying to start over later in life and figure out who they are. This was my first book I've read by Chrissy and it did not disappoint. Now brb while I go read the first one. 😜
