Rate this book
Jacob Danby loves cats. He makes room in his home and heart for seven of them, all strays and rescues. Unfortunately, his lawyer ex-boyfriend, Owen, didn't share the same affinity for the pitter-patter of cat paws. When Owen presented Jacob with an ultimatum, the cats or their relationship, Jacob had no choice but to pick his pets.

When Jacob finds out that having so many cats puts him in violation of a town ordinance, he reluctantly turns to Owen for legal help. Can Jacob find a way to trust Owen again, or will his pride cost him more than just his beloved cats?

Heidi Champa is a typical last-born child. Snarky, attention-seeking and rebellious, she started to create dirty stories to keep herself out of real trouble. Having tried her hand at a million terrible jobs, she bought herself a laptop and finally started typing up those handwritten tales. After much deliberation, she started to let other people read her work.

In addition to her flare with the written word, she knows every sentence of the movie Clue by heart and bakes a mean Funny Cake. She loves Aussie Rules Football (Go The Cats!!), dancing to bad music and laughing too loud in public. A natural born klutz, she has been known to fall for no reason at all and always has a bruise somewhere on her body. Her life has taken her all over the world, but a piece of her heart will always be in Australia. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband.

She has been published in numerous anthologies including Best Women’s Erotica 2010, Best of Best Women's Erotica 2, Playing With Fire, Frenzy, College Boys, Like Magnets We Attract, Skater Boys and Ultimate Curves. Her first novella, White Out, was published by Amber Allure in August 2010 and her second, All Expenses Paid, was released in June. She has also steamed up the pages of Bust Magazine. If you prefer your erotica in electronic form, she can be found at Clean Sheets, Torquere Press, Ravenous Romance, Oysters and Chocolate, Dreamspinner Press, and The Erotic Woman.

It's short and not that easy to purchase (least not from here in UK) but was actually sort of worth using the last of my points. (If I'd had enough money I'd have bought the five book bundle of Heavy Petting 2 stories as I believe doing so results in a reduced overall price, but I didn't and this story caught my eye most).

I particularly appreciated how we came to see Owen's side of the break-up being rather differently to Jacob's account, especially as the story is actually told in Jacob's first person narrative. The misunderstandings were all believable and it was well written and edited, though the last minute rescue was a bit of a stretch.

Being a cat lover I was immediately drawn to this book. I loved the idea of a guy that loved cats as much as I do. This story is super short, only 48 pages so it goes really quick but I was engaged the whole time. I wanted to find out what happened between Owen and Jacob and I wanted to see if they got a second chance at happiness.

Jacob is a cat lover. You can tell he loved his cats like people love their children. He has seven furry felines that live in his home. Unbeknownst to him he is in violation from his township because there is a rule stating you can only have 5 animals in your home. Knowing he faces possibly losing his home or his cats he reaches out to his ex-boyfriend Owen, who happens to be a lawyer.

Initially pretty hostile towards Jacob, Owen agrees to help Jacob. When they start meeting to plan what to do about the township you can tell Owen still has feelings for Jacob.

Things heat up quickly between the ex-lovers and their chemistry is pretty exciting and real. I loved watching them explore eachother again. It was new but familiar.

Although the story was short I did enjoy the plot. This book wasn’t long enough to really delve into these characters like I would haave liked but I did like them both and cared about what happened.

Through several misunderstandings and a lot of miscommunication you realize why they in fact broke up. Watching them overcome that and get back to a good place was nice. I also enjoyed the random interactions between the characters and the cats. They were a great addition to the story.

Overall, this was a quick, quirky read. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves cats and reunited lovers.

depending how I look at this book it can go either way

I liked story but it could have more developed mc-s, misunderstanding was hard to accept since we saw argument from perspective but weren't there when it actually happened.

I like loophole in law :)

all in all, for my taste it could be bit longer

cute short story - if you love cats, or have a relative who is slightly OCD about felines, then this is for you! :)

Since Jake definite did put the cats before Owen, I was a bit confused as to what Owen saw in the whole relationship. Maybe you have to be more of a cat fan to appreciate it
