Titan #5

Hart Attack

Rate this book
Outside of Titan Group, there are few people that Roman Hart would die for. He's a soldier, a protector, and he's haunted that one of the people he should've been able to protect didn't let him. That was years ago, and now a hardened heart and a cocky attitude are his impenetrable shields, until one woman-one challenge-drives him to distraction. On the outside, Beth Tourne has it all. Luxury car, gorgeous condo, and a job partying with the rich and famous. It's a plush CIA cover, but she wants more. Anything for an adrenaline rush that can override her guilty numbness and let her forget the tragedy she never saw coming. Their scars make them perfect operatives. Their mirrored pasts give them deep, wounded reasons to stay alone. But the more they ignore the tension, the more vulnerable they become. Survival means trust. In one another, behind closed doors, and on the job. The only way they're making it out alive is if they find peace while waging a war.

Roman and Beth have been side, but crucial, characters for several of the Titan books. They've been dancing around each other romantically for as long as we've known them. In this book Roman and Beth finally get their own story. Both our protagonists seem to be damaged from past experiences. For sure Beth is suffering from a form of PTSD due to the horrible circumstances of her husband's death. Roman is still learning to accept his sister, Nic, is back from the dead. But despite their rough pasts they soldier on. Roman as the steadfast, heroic Titan operative Beth as a CIA analyst and field agent. But Beth is frustrated in her current position, she wants more than her current socialite cover. In comparison, Roman has nothing but field mission adventures. Soon the twain meets and Roman and Beth begin working together. Even though Beth has buried herself in her CIA personna, Roman sees beyond her fake cover. He realizes, long before she does, they belong together. Their missions together are mysterious, exciting and ripped right out of current terrorist exploits. The personal and organizational conflicts faced by our heroes draw us into their world. Beth gradually overcomes her fear, guilt and self loathing due to Roman's belief in and love for her. Beautiful story of love and dedication winning over greed and anger.

This was more of the same old, same old, and I got bored. And I really didn't like Roman or Beth. They both whined and moaned and groaned so much that I quickly lost all sympathy and just wanted to get through the damn thing so I could get it off my tbr pile. So yeah, that's about it.

Again! I don't even know what to say right now. Gahh! I LOVE the Titians! If you're reading this review and you haven't read the series yet, then you need to stop reading and go buy the first Titan, Winter's Heat, FREE on Amazon. You will not be disappointed. Although Garrison's Creed... or Cash and Nicola's story is my ALL TIME FAVORITE TITAN, this one is a very close 2nd. Beth and Roman are a little crazy and smokin' hot.

fuck yes dance

Gushing time! Chemistry, characters, sex and story! Heart Attack is excellent on all levels. Roman and Beth have palpable chemistry. They both know it and can feel it but Beth is apprehensive in dealing with it. Neither one is looking for a commitment... but maybe if they can scratch an itch, then they can move on. Roman and Beth have both been through some serious trauma with people they love. This story works through the hurt with them and they both need to face their daemons.

The sex is SO HOT! Let me try to explain. Ahem. Okay... so you know that feeling you get when you've been crushing on a guy really hard and he all the sudden starts talking to you? Yes, it's the butterflies in your tummy kind of feeling. Then, you know that feeling you get when your boyfriend/husband whispers dirty things in your ear and tells you exactly what he's going to do with you as soon as he can get you naked? Then he takes you up against the wall in the most savage and porn quality way... Yes! It's that belly roll feeling. Then finally, it's like feeding cheese cake to a starving girl on her period. Extremely satisfying! Hot, fast and hard. YUM!

hot fast and hard

I cried. Dammit I cried... again! My heart was breaking for Beth and then I happy cried at the end.

I need a doughnut

I really dont have anything else to say... except maybe READ THE BOOK!

Here is my dilemma. I think Harber is a great storyteller and writes some scorching hot romantic suspense. But holy hell I hated this book! I hated the heroine. Whiny, stuck in the past, indecisive, cock tease. I get she was damaged but she had years to get help and did not. She was just too damaged for me and I was not rooting for her because she annoyed me so much. I also disliked Roman for most of the book. He was immature, a manwhore, and wishy washy. He was also a bit damaged and frankly I did not get his damage.

I did not like the plot and dead exes are so not my thing.

So why even bother with 2 stars vs 1? Because Cristin Harber can write the hell out of a story and I loved the interactions with the other characters and loved the ending.

Don't regret reading it but I won't be revisiting it.

I am going to venture to say that in another life Cristin Harber was a CIA agent...an agent with an amazing sex life. This author knows how to take down an enemy and bring an extremely hot alpha male to his knees all in the same day.

Hart Attack has it all; suspense, romance, angst and panty melting sex. Talking about sex...enter the hot and brooding Roman Hart. Bad-ass and domineering are just two of the words I can think of when it comes to Roman.

I loved watching two troubled souls come together and try to make a go of it. The angst that we witness between Roman and Beth makes the ending so much sweeter.

"I want no part of you? Explain that." Because right that second, he wanted every part of her. Preferably naked. On her knees. With his d*ck resting on her tongue.

This book has it all. If you like suspense, it has it. If you like romance, you're good. If you like male dominance....this is your book. I give Hart Attack 5 powerful stars. ~ Stacey, 5 stars

One of the things I love about Cristin Harber's books is the action! She keeps you on the edge of your seat, ready to jump at each twist and turn. The woman knows her stuff and boy, does she make running around the world, bad, crazy guys chasing you with guns, seem hot and sexy!

To me, if an author makes you feel deep enough that you want to punch, kick or lick a character, they're doing a damn good job. Cristin has this a million times over. Most of the book I want to punch Roman and shake Beth, but put the two together and WHOA, it's hot, it's intense and most of all, it’s heartbreakingly sweet. Roman often reminded me of Jared but with a lot of built-up anger and hurt.

There is just so much to this book, and I loved every damn minute. Yeah, even those minutes when I wanted to hunt Cristin down and do bodily harm. I'm forever and always on Team Cristin. As long as she keeps writing sexy gun toting men, I'll keep reading them!! ~ Toshia, 5 stars

5 Stars – an extremely close second to my favorite book in the series Garrision’s Creed (Cash & Nic)

Everyone in Titan knows there is a smoldering attraction between Beth and Roman. They have been denying their attraction, each thinking they are so broken they are not capable of a relationship. Sometimes there is a connection so strong it breaks down the walls in your heart and lets someone in.

I have been waiting for this book for a long time, since the first time we meet Beth in Garrison’s Creed. Beth has been one of those secondary characters that we haven’t gotten to know well. She sort of lurked in the shadows. She is a CIA operative, Nic’s former handler and Nic’s best friend. She is burrowing so much pain that she has not even realized she has allowed her job, her cover to become who she is. The only time she feels she can be close to her real self is when she is around Roman. Roman’s life has been his job. He has no real connection to anything other than Titan and no strings to hold him down; but at the same time none to ground him either. He has become sort of a nomad, not allowing himself roots and truly surviving on a temporary lifestyle.

The plot is a typical Titan plot, once you think you know where the story is going Cristin Harber makes it take a turn that completely surprises you. There was one part where I actually screamed as I was so shocked by and event, and I put the book down because I was so stunned I just needed time to process before I could continue. If the heart stopping plot wasn’t enough to get you to love this book, there is the sensual and steamy interactions between Roman and Beth too to keep you turning the pages.

I received this ARC from Cristin Harber on my e-reader and I could only resist starting it for about one hour; I then devoured this book – I did not do one other productive thing (including eating) until I was done. There is so much action and so much wonderful character interaction that it is hard to put down. The list of authors that I read their books non-stop as soon as it arrives on my Kindle can be counted on one hand; and Cristin Harber is one of those authors. Put her on your permanent pre-order list; you won’t regret it.

I received this book from the author for my honest review; however I have preordered my own copy as well.

My complete review (longest to date!) - with lots of wonderful quotes will be on http://www.tbqsbookpalace.com/

3 stars - Adult Romantic Suspense

Too much angsty drama llama and I'm allergic to that. Beth's terribly annoying she gave me a massive headache. Not much of action scenes I'm very disappointed - I thought this is romantic suspense where it should be 50/50 balance for both genres, no? It felt way bummer when the book's totally not what I expected. Definitely not what I wished for Roman after all the shite he'd gone through in the past. Read on your own peril.

Oh man I liked this story, I felt like there was too much baggae from both characters. Not so much action but it was will well developed. When beth first appeared in Cash's story I thought she was bitchy and not well character but reading her story was great she went thru alot and still was able to find love. Roman I felt his pain even if he got his sister back he was still felt like he missed alot, awesome brother to have tho.

Hart Attack
Cristin Harber is a gifted writer no doubt about it, and I feel that each new book is only empowering her. Her writing quests have been as marvelous as the author herself.
I love the way her characters interact with each other, so natural and realistic. I also love how she incorporated into each book action, spy games, adventure, risky missions and hot romantic love. In Hart Attack, the sibling love between Roman and Nicola was beautiful and realistic, as well as the everlasting love between two of the favorite characters in the series Cash and Nic, oh I'm going to cry again.
Roman and Beth dealt with their fear of sentimental attachment, both fought their own personal battles, their way of being, and their own beliefs in the future in order to survive life and finally live free.
I was truly fearful during the many twists and turns in the book knowing well that the author is not afraid of giving the readers a heart attack. You can never be sure of the happy ever after in her books until you have closed the book and breathed in again. Now, I will start my own personal countdown to her next book, the book I have been waiting for from the very beginning, Black Dawn aka My Parker Black's book. Well done Cristin, Hooyah Babe!

3.5 Stars. Good but not a favorite in this series. Too much angst and living in the past for my taste; and a few eye-rolling moments involving the situation of Beth and her CIA 'assignment' Greg. Hardcore fans of the series will overlook these nits and enjoy the read much more.

Why did they all just suddenly forget that Mia (book 1 fmc) and her entire profession existed? These two needed, and still need, therapy for their past traumas. Especially Beth, she’s years out and cannot function sometimes, and she’s CIA? Their love story had potential and they had their moments so I did like them together but for the nitty-gritty of it they needed a professional. Roman was more of a grumpy-grump than I expected and I thought there would be a teddy bear under the gruff but oh well. The side characters really carried this one for me so “moving on”

[Note: I dnf’d the previous book (Savage Secrets) after the on-page extremely graphic rape of the fmc by the villain about midway through]

I think this book did me in for the series. The first was just okay. I really liked the second and third. I book 4 was meh...

Now book 5 I just couldn’t. I didn’t like any of the characters like at all. I will take a break from the series. At this point I don’t think I will return to it. I had really high hopes for this series as most have a high rating. We shall see...

3.5 stars ARC Review.

For me, the Titan series is synonymous with high-octane action and steamy romance. Cristin Harber delivers just that. Roman Hart is a hard-ass in a team of over the top alpha males. He unequivocally loves his family and is fiercely protective of the people he cares about. Beth Tourne is a CIA agent and former handler for Nicola, Roman’s sister. We meet Beth through Nicola’s story in Garrison’s Creed. Beth caught my attention and I could not wait for this story.

Both Beth and Roman are crippled by tragedies in their past that causes them to emotionally shut down. They are both shells going through the motions of “getting things done” but never really living. Beth is interested in furthering her career by becoming a field agent. Unfortunately, her first opportunity to move into that direction comes with a dilemma – how far is she willing to go to get close to her target? She and Roman are just starting their dance, so this is the beginning of the challenges the must overcome. Both are hiding behind their work, creating a freezing cold emotional state. By getting together they must dig deep to melt away the protective layers and take a chance. As Beth states, “Love is an epic burden. But it wasn’t a death sentence.”

My biggest critique is that I didn’t particular like Roman. There were rare moments of lightness but more often, he is heavy and dark. As a couple, I thought that Roman and Beth lacked balance. Roman was too overpowering, too protective, too much, and that made him almost one-note. I wanted him to show more vulnerability, be softer around the edges, at least when he was with Beth.

On a minor note, I was unsure of the role of “Montana.” He comes and goes without really making an impact. Also, I really felt for Cash. I’m surprised that he doesn’t have permanent brain damage for the amount of injures he endures.

In A Nutshell:
This is a fine romantic suspense, even though it’s not my favorite of the series. It has most of the right ingredients for an adventurous read.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gah! It feels like its been forever ago since I got down and dirty with the Titans. I've missed them so much!

I knew it... I just knew I was going to love Roman. Don't get me wrong, Cash is still my favorite, but Roman is running a close second. What I wouldn't give to be the center of a Cash and Roman Sandwich.

Beth, she just... I was heartbroken for her. Total devastation.

Beth has walls, Roman has walls... but they play this game and they enjoy their game. In my mind I picture them like Chinese finger cuffs, they keep trying to pull away from each other, but the more they do, the harder it is and the closer they are. You almost want to just smack them both to knock some sense into them.

I loved their story and how they played off of each other. They were scorching hot together.

And then I got the little bits and pieces of everyone else. And SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!! I'm so excited for a few of them.

I think it was a little over a year ago when I found Winters Heat up for review on Netgalley. I am so thankful I requested it and discovered Cristin Harber. She really has become one of my favorites. I feel fortunate to have followed this series since its birth. She has a gift and a talent for weaving sexy, passionate love stories into a suspenseful, edge of your seat, nail biter.

I've been lucky enough to receive ARCs of most of the books in the series, but I love them so much, I've bought them all, as well. I think I even have some of them on my Kobo and on my Kindle app. That's just a testament to how great they are.

If you're someone who hasn't started the series yet, Winters Heat is free across all platforms and I believe Sweet Girl is too. I guarantee once you start this series you'll be hooked.

Oh hot military men are always cause for an angsty, suspenseful book. Especially when he’s a soldier and she’s a CIA agent. Beth and Roman have a different kind of relationship. A game, he says. He wants her, she continuously turns him down. Is it the challenge he can’t stop going after, or is it just her?

Beth is a good CIA agent. She’s never really had a mission other than being that party girl who always has her ears open to catch information. She is plagued by nightmares that remind her of that awful day in the past. And it’s because of that day that she’s completely withdrawn. She doesn’t allow herself to feel because she feels guilty, that she doesn’t deserve it. She wants Roman, but knows that it would be a betrayal, a mistake. But damn if he doesn’t keep pushing her. He’s frazzling her nerves, and she desperately wants to give in. Then she finally gets her opening to be out in the field with the CIA…too bad she might have to go against her morals for this one. Much to Roman’s dismay.

Roman is her best friend’s brother. He has his own painful demons that he carries with him, causing him to be very cocky, when on the inside he’s tearing himself apart. He doesn’t know if he wants Beth just because she keeps turning him down, or if it’s just her that does him in. He can’t stop wanting her, trying to get her, and being near her. It’s when he hears about her new task that he ramps it up. He doesn’t want her to take the job because he wants her to himself. He’ll have to insert himself into the job to protect her.
To stay alive, the two of them must trust each other–give in to opening up. There’s a lot of back and forth, a build-up of angst and passion. It’s about learning to let go, to live, and to see to the future. Because even if things went wrong in the past, there’s always a way to make up for it in the future. They just have to trust that opening up won’t backfire.

“Love your crazy and your freckles. Love how you taste, how you kiss. How you drive me to the edge of sanity. Life’s wild with you. WILD. And I love it, like I love you. I want my ring on your finger, my name on your name. Marry me, babe.” - Roman Hart

Ok, Mrs. Harber, look... We have a great relationship, you and I, we do. You write - or, what I like to call it, "create miracles" - and I fangirl, thanking God for being blessed to read your work. But sometimes, it just gets too much for my poor heart. All those feels, and the hotness, and the suspense... Gah! You're killing me with each book here!

Roman Hart knows better than to let someone in his heart. Losing his sister once does that to a guy, after all. But it's getting harder to resist doing so with Beth Tourne, his sister's best friend and former CIA colleague. To him, Beth is a game, a party girl, a challenge - and all Titan guys love challenges. However, when Beth gets a mission that makes her fake surface crumble, Roman begins to understand there might be more than just parties and jokes to this woman. Secrets that he's not sure he wants to know, sides that he's not sure he's ready to see. And with Beth fighting him as much as wanting him, Cash's spotter might need a little more than mere guts to face not only her heart, but his as well...

Where do I start? Hmm, how about apologizing first to both Roman AND Beth? Because, really, after dubbing them as "just ok" in my mind, I need to bow down and grovel for forgiveness!!!

How could I possibly think those two were anything but great? They were fitting pieces of puzzle, and they kept bringing each other's good traits to the surface without even trying or accepting it!

Beth was just the right woman to bring out Roman's emotions, to finally make him see that it was ok to let someone get close. That he was strong enough to survive it. She was independent, and strong herself, and while she was still mourning her past, and made it difficult for Roman to show her the brilliance of THEM as a couple, she was someone who didn't take his bullshit and made sure he didn't reverse back to his old ways of coping with hardships when he needed it the most.

And Roman, oh, Roman... How can I look at IRL guys again, after what I've witnessed with you? You sweet, wonderful man! Even when he was trying to be rough and rude and macho, it was impossible not to see the cuddler under the brute. His overprotective nature might seem too much, but, unlike the rest of the Titan guys, he trusted her enough to let her do her thing - even if it killed him inside. Ok, unless it was against his morals, but that's another story. What made Roman so perfect, was exactly his imperfect state, though. His flaws were humane, his worries and sweet little moments - however unconsciously achieved - pulled at my heartstrings viciously. And when he decided to open up, to express himself verbally... Boy, I was, like, swooning, because this guy sure had a way with words, no matter how he might deny it!

Oh, and let's not forget the hotness - did I mention it above or did I forget it again? Again, shame on me! Because, good God, does Harber know how to melt panties through her fictional studs or what?

I'm not gonna give you any major spoilers, just a couple of hints.

Hint #1: The main lovey-dovey action is, as always, served at the right, perfect moment.

Hint #2: Just because the main dish is served later, doesn't mean things don't get hot and heavy earlier. *wink* *wink*

But hey, that makes sense. I mean, with the Titan boys, you can pretty much expect to faint from massive nosebleeds just because they turned their eyes on you - and no, no sane woman's gonna judge you if you do, it's perfectly understandable.

Now I have to wait for Parker's book to come out... See, that woman is devious! How am I supposed to live until then?!

Hart Attack still ranks up there as one of my top favorite Titan stories, and couples. It's awesome how much the story still hits me in all the feels now even more so than originally. Loved every minute I had back with Roman and Beth and the gang.

2014 book review

Let's try a flow chart, shall we??? :)

Have you ever read a book that captured your attention and heart from the first page and then hooked you so deep you experienced everything - not just read it? And the only possible cure for the intense and instantaneous book hangover is to start over from the beginning to relive it all again?

Yes - and you love those types of stories? Then what are you waiting for??? Hurry and get Hart Attack and dive in!

No - but you want to know what that feels like? Then what are you waiting for??? Hurry and get Hart Attack and dive in!

From the beginning, I was completely drawn into the story. I *felt* for Beth and Roman. I struggled with them, I cried for them, I laughed with them, I growled with (um, and at???) them, and I swooned with them (um, you may need a fan, or an ice bucket, or something - it got pretty hot a few times). I was overwhelmed by them and I flew with them! There was no letting up - you start out on a fast paced ride and it doesn't ever slow down. There were multiple moments where I had to make myself put down the book for a minute and remember to just breathe and even wipe my tears away!!! Even in the moments where I felt growly towards their actions, as time went on and more secrets were exposed, I not only understood, but it made me love them (and the growly moments) all the more because of it.

I love how Cristin continues to bring her stories to life with her unique voice and irresistible men and women. This is an amazing and worthy addition to her Titan series.

Considering the fact that Hart Attack was the next installment in the Titan series, I had expected there to be a lot more gun battles and explosions. Instead, the battle was more of a psychological nature. Elizabeth “Beth” Tourne and Roman Hart had to fight their inner demons in order to finally realize that they were meant to be together. Oddly enough, Roman’s team members at Titan knew that well before they did. Beth works for the CIA and is a really good friend of Roman’s younger sister, Nicola, who is also a member of Titan and was a former member of the CIA. Titan is a black ops team that does secret missions for the U.S. government.

Beth and Roman couldn’t be more different. He puts his life on the line regularly while her cover requires her to mix and mingle with the elite looking to purchase fine pieces of art. After some poor intel prevents Titan from securing a nuclear bomb, Roman ends up playing the role of bodyguard for Beth while she is trying to get close to a money launderer. The harder that they try to deny their feelings for each other, the closer they become. Unfortunately, this could also affect their missions. While they are battling their feelings, they must keep in mind that they still have jobs to do. They have some explosive sexual encounters that are far more interesting than any actual gun battles that come into play.

Hart Attack was yet another great installment but don’t expect to be riveted. I did enjoy their mind games but would have loved to see more fireworks outside of the bedroom. This was a definite example of love being a battlefield.

The Titan Boys typically occupy a space in my head that's between the categories 'crack' and 'Alpha male superstore' and Cristin Harber writes in a way that painfully reminds you these men are solidly planted in fiction la-la land than in reality.

Still, they're enjoyable as hell. I've always liked how Cristin Harber's men never shy away or run from their developing feelings and we never quite see it more clearly here, in Hart Attack.

Roman Hart's pain over losing his sister Nic isn't easily brushed away as Cash Garrison's acceptance and serves as a brutal reminder why he would never let anyone close again. Beth Tourne was a flighty party girl the last I remembered of her in Nicola's book until we learn that she has been in deep cover for years - a cover that is the only thing that helps her go on day to day after her husband's suicide. And the push-pull, innocent game that they have been playing goes to hell in a basket when an assignment asks way more of what Beth is willing to give. While I don't claim to understand the shady dealings of the CIA and Nukes and Drugs (Ms Harber doesn't really clarify the sequence of events or their details too clearly) in Hart Attack, what really comes through clearly is Beth's and Roman's dancing around each other until something gives, big time.

I did enjoy reading this, though the wacky dialogue (a custom-made Rocket Launcher called The Jared?!) stumped me from time to time and the epilogue was like Santa coming early with several storks as presents.

OMG. Titan goes from strength to strength. I keep wondering how Cristin can better the previous book but, as usual, she has written another stormer of a book!!!

We have seen the will they-won't they vibes between Beth and Roman over the previous books and this one finally resolves why Beth has been avoiding GOING THERE with Roman. We also explore the reasons why Roman feels unable to get close to others.

Their story is heartbreaking, emotional and, at times, down right funny. Roman is our epitome of alpha man and Beth is the consummate party girl, her cover with the CIA, which she uses to mask her problems. Brought in against her will on an assignment she is thrown into the deep end and fights to swim against a tide of dirty deals. Roman tags along as her bodyguard and they are drawn deeper into danger.

As with all Titan stories, it is fast paced and fully developed and all the characters have a part to play and aren't there just to pad out the scene. I love the Titan girls and how they handle their menfolk, who seem very happy to be handled!!!!!.

Read in one sitting and cannot wait for the next book. Get writing Ms Harber!!!!!!

You know how sometimes you need a "pallet cleanser", after reading books of one genre [dark, for me]? Well, this story was just that for me.

I've fallen in love with the Titan team. Who wouldn't? You have Alpha males that are working for an agency that's protecting America from the evil that's lurking, be it: terrorists, human traffickers, and/or drug suppliers. After reading this (I read this as a stand-alone), I really want to check out the rest of the series.

The story starts in the middle of a botched job, trying to find a nuclear bomb. Roman returns home and craves the attention of one person: Beth. Their relationship isn't clear at the beginning, as there isn't really a relationship to talk of - but that changes.

This story was full of angst, action, sweet romance, and scorching erotica!

Stinking Hot

I am completely addicted to this series and believe Cristin Harber is absolutely one of the best military type suspense authors out there. She ranks up there with Kaylea Cross and Natasza Waters as a total favorite must read author. This series is completely hot while being completely suspenseful at the same time. Talk about awesome book boyfriends and alpha warriors, this series has them in spades. This book's Roman was my favorite so far. That was one sexy man. Roman and Beth had been circling each other for a while. Their back and forth relationship was hard for both of them. Caught up in separate but equally dangerous jobs, neither really had any idea of how they could make a relationship work. When Beth is placed in an untenable position by her boss, Roman determines he needs to protect her from herself and makes sure he is in position to do so. I loved the suspense and military type action in this story, but more than that, I liked this couple. I can't wait to read more from this series in the future.

"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."

Do read the rest of the series - ideally in order - for full enjoyment, but this is a great book even read on its own.

I am a huge fan of this series and was delighted that the dance that has been going on between Beth and Roman got its music. The background plot was good, but to be honest my attention was squarely on them. The chemistry, the angst, the encouragement from the team ... all built up to a great story. I loved catching up on how previous couples were doing and looking at who might next get a chance.

If you like action/spy/romance books, then this is one to read.

This is the second book in the series I struggled to get in to, but was so glad I stuck with it as Cristin Harber didn't let me down. I ended up loving it. Well ...... let's not beat about the bush, I freaking LOVE Roman, Beth is the reason I struggled in the beginning.

Beth irritated the crap out of me, she really did with the constant pushing away. I get she had, in her head, a perfectly good reason for doing it but bloody hell, Roman was in from almost the get go. They had been sniffing around each other for months and months, he's all up for a relationship and nope, Beth pulls her ridiculous "I can't love anyone" move. I'm afraid that knocked a star off my rating, otherwise it would have been another 5 star read for me.

I read this as a stand alone not reading the other books in the series. I was able to read without issue.

I don't know why I haven't read this series earlier, but that is going to change. I really enjoyed Hart Attack. Loved the action/suspense mixed with romance and the military aspect. It was a great combination and so well written.

This was my first read from Ms. Harber and I can without a doubt say it won't be my last.

What an emotional roller coaster! After starting this book it was all I could do to hold on and enjoy this ride....Roman and Beth had amazing chemistry. This author gave these two such a hyper awareness that it made me scream for them to end this sexual dance they were doing to each other. I don't think I have ever read scenes where they are naked with such sexuality and then they put there clothes back on without having sex. It's not angst but it sure drove me crazy. This series is just wicked, with lovely male alphas, and superb save the world plots. Overall entertainment is four stars.

Great addition to the series! The most compelling part to all of Cristin's books is the relationships. The Nic/Cash/Roman trio grabbed me from the very beginning and never let go. I love how fiercely these three people love each other and I thought the way Beth was introduced into the group slowly, over several books, was just perfect. We already knew a big chunk of their backstory so we were able to jump right in. If you've followed the series so far this one will not disappoint. Can't wait to see what happens next!!
