Sometimes clear sight comes only after you’re blinded

When a rash of elderly deaths occur in Portland, Autumn Rain is called upon to use her ability to read emotions imprinted on physical objects in an attempt to track down the killer. The antiques shop owner and part-time police consultant is more than willing to go undercover to estate sales with detective Shannon Martin. After all, reselling antiques is her business, and spending time with the man she might be falling for is a plus.

But a chilling repeated imprint and a fiery near-death has Autumn rethinking everything she’s learned about her ability and what it has made her become.

Nicholas Russo is also back in town to claim the favor Autumn owes him. If she doesn’t pay, her life and those of her family will be at risk, but helping Russo might mean the deaths of other innocent people. Autumn has no choice but to find out for herself what’s really at stake before she gives him anything.

And then things really get crazy.

Rachel Ann Nunes (pronounced noon-esh) learned to read when she was four and by seventh grade knew she was going to be an author. Now as a stay-at-home mother of seven, it isn't easy to find time to write, but she will trade washing dishes or weeding the garden for an hour at the computer any day! Her only rule about writing is to never eat chocolate at the computer. "Since I love chocolate and writing," she jokes, "my family might never see me again."

Rachel has over sixty published books, including the popular Ariana series and the award-winning picture book Daughter of a King. She enjoys hiking, swimming, spending time with her family, reading, and visiting far off places.

I kept meaning to put this down last night, but I was so into the story that I was up until nearly 1:00 finishing the book. We get to see Cody take a more active role in things as Autumn is temporarily blinded, unable to use her gift to actually see imprints, though they still do a number on her in other ways. Shannon also steps things up nicely with their relationship at the very end of the book, which is a nice way to finish their multiple cases that all link in some way to each other. They thought they were just investigating suspicious deaths in an estate sales company. Instead they solve that, find 2 missing people (one previously thought to be dead), discover the truth about the O'Donnel and Hamilton family relationships, and catch Ace in a rather ugly situation. That doesn't even go into Eaton, who is a real piece of work. Cody was right to warn Autumn about him. The other nice thing I like about this series - for an LDS fiction book, there is no mention of religion or any faith being shoved down the reader's throat. Also doesn't hurt that this series largely takes place in Oregon, my home state.

This is a great light mystery/suspense series. It's clean and I always know what to expect. Autumn Rain is an enjoyable character. It's easy to root for her. The moments of romance and tension are great but they surely do not overpower the story here. Fun book and series.

Good story, fun characters, good mystery. I rarely give 5 stars but came close with this one. Gave 4 mostly because I'm a Nunes fan and have liked some of her other books better, felt it would have been unfair to them. All in all was still a good read.

I liked this installment of the Autumn Rain series. Autumn is in an accident & loses her ability to read imprints. She has to rely on her intuition and others rather than her unique talent.
A fast paced mystery.

I love this series. Sci fi with not-too-gaggy-romance. However, this edition had a lot of typos in it. Proofread!

Really good! I'm nervous to try the re-branded version of this series (Imprints series by Teyla Branton) for fear she might have thrown some junk in, but I might have to give it a try soon! I loved this one and am excited to read more!
