Ladiessssss I Loveeeee a Great Redemption Story!!!! And Nick Barona is it and now my absolute favorite in this series Woot! Woot!
For those of you who have read the series, you know Nick Barona was a bigot a$$hole but a brush with death and the possibility of him not walking again tends to change a person. Nick Barona battled back from the impossible and became possible, his attitude also did a 365 degree turn so he was given another chance in everything.
Anthony Jenkins was lovable from Book 1 you couldn't help but to like him, he was funny, smart and gorgeous but in this latest story he turned into a freaking monster. I couldn't believe I was reading about the same man, a man who wanted his cake and to eat it too.
Lincoln Hathaway we met in Book 1 in the Orlando Torres story, where she introduces him to her sister Regan those two did a stop and go but eventually got it together. In their story we see Lincoln and Anthony thick as thieves but something happens, Anthony changes, he is lying out of his a$$ and just became a total idiot. In Lincoln's desperation to find out if he is cheating on her, she turns to Nick Barona who at first puts his hands up because he is honoring the code of the firemen to never say anything. But he breaks it and tells Lincoln, of course she is devastated and confronts Anthony to my amazement was still lying although Lincoln knew the truth. Nick feeling bad for her starts to hang out with her on the request of Orlando, of course this doesn't bode well with Anthony who is just back with his ex-girlfriend. If he had only been honest, I don't think Lincoln would have stayed with him but the animosity wouldn't have been there.
Well let me tell you Nick Barona stepped up to the plate and surprised the heck out of me as I know he did for the other readers. He became everything Lincoln ever needed and wanted in a man so much so that he surprised and baffled many, and made an enemy out of Anthony.
Let me tell you when you read this story you are going to be flabbergasted (So much happens in this story) but lawd this was my favorite story out of the first two books. Again Nick Barona is now my #1 and when I think about him this song comes to my mind "What A Man, What A Man, What A Man, What A Mighty Good Man, Yes He Issss!!!"
Also we get to meet the other older sister Carter and their mother Lynette who live in Chicago. I applaud author Toye Lawson Brown for bringing to us another dynamic story.
I enjoyed reading this book so much! I couldn't put my kindle down! I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry between Lincoln and Nick! Fantastic book!
I am really enjoying the men of CLE-FD. I liked how Jon and Orlando were part of the book but didn't take over. This book was good and had drama like no other. A love triangle, broken friendships, lies, psycho/stalker, fights, threats, and plenty of anger. I had a really hard time liking Lincoln. She was way too immature 28 is too old enough to act the way she did. I can't believe how Anthony turned out. He really lost it. I am proud of Nick he really changed after his accident. This book was good and I recommend reading it. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I started reading this book about 9pm Saturday night and could not put it down until I finished it, which was about 5am Sunday morning. The story was too real. I felt Lincolns' pain (having gone through similar situations myself), despised Ant ( again, very similar behavior ), and cheered on Nick ( wish I had found some one like him in my lifetime). Everyone behaved badly though; the varying degrees of wrong behavior by most of the parties involved, helped to escalate the violence. I laughed, was on the verge of tears for Linc and wanted to kick Ants' ass sooo bad! I usually take off a star for things like spelling, punctuation and sentencing structure, but the story was so engrossing I let the mistakes slide. Enjoyed this book immensely!
A redeemed begot and a whiney scorned woman fall in love.
3.25 stars. This story was a better read than the two prior stories in this series; but they all shared a common malady, useless and lengthy 'filler drama'. Nick Barona did a 180 degree turn from his racist views after almost dying of an injury received during a fire fight. Lincoln Hathaway is the rebound lover of Anthony, a fireman and a cad, because he pursued and reunited with his ex while he was in a 2 year relationship with Lincoln; but as bad as that is , it did not warrant the author spending the first quarter of the book with Lincoln going to friends and relatives questioning them about Anthony. She and Nike get together and they have good chemistry, but her trust issues get boring.
Lincoln and Nick were great together. They had chemistry and lots of fun. Anthony was a jealous jerk that wanted his cake and then some. He was a overbearing cheater and liar who thought that he was the only one entitled to happiness. I hated Melanie. Especially when she showed up to Lincoln's house. I mean for what really? She just did that to rub it in her face. Gwen in this book was just an uppity piece of work. I really liked how she looked out for Jon in the other book. But in this book she was something else. I love Lincoln's family and the way they excepted Nick an Isodora.
Lincoln and Nick had a rough rocky start....more like a pseudo friendship slash rebound. I'm happy that they fought through all the craziness but was surprised about how crazy Anthony turned out to be.
Nick is proof positive that there is such a thing as a life altering moment....his near death experience made him realize he needed to change and although Lincoln could be a bit impulsive, they were good for each other.
First time read...but not a last book by this author
I enjoyed this book. I found the characters funny and very active. The author kept the reader engaged throughout the book and she made the reader want to know what was going to happen next. I found that I could relate to Lincoln because I could see myself doing some of the things she did in the book.
I love this series and I hope this is not the last book. There were a few typo's but nothing unbearable. Great story and how all the old characters were kept in. Keep it up Toys!!!
I so loved this story it was about love unexpected but the truth of this book was about true love the kind that has no words but this author brought it and claimed it will read her books and enjoy being a fan!
Nicks journey was the least expectant. Never the guy what was anthems Dale of getting Jon and Gabbie together sort of would turn out be an Asus. I am so disappointed AnThony. Very good read. Amazing how roles reverse.
I swear these firefighters are something else. Romantic, handsome, loyal and forgiving. Nick was a saint to forgive Lincoln so easily for running away. But they were meant to be.
Nicky was so sweet. I didn't like him from the previous book but he really changed and I loved it. Lincoln needed to grow up but in the end all was well.
What a story, love the firefighters. One romantic story. Anthony was beyond crazy. Loved how Nick let nothing get in the way of his love for Lincoln. Awesome story.
