I’ve raved about this series so much because of how much much lighter (in a way) and different it is than her other series. Even though it still has some mystery and emotional times, it still has so many moments that make me smile. And that reason is still Lyric. Every book I think I love her more. I love her upbeat and optimistic outlook. She is exactly what Ayden needs. Especially right now.

Ayden is going through a rough time. Looking for this sister, and looking for answers about his past. It’s a lot to handle. Therapy isn’t working as well as they’d hope and he still can’t remember much. Plus, ‘they’ are still after him. Someone is still out there watching him. He’s finding it hard to cope.

“description"/

Ayden’s life is falling apart in one way, but in another way, it’s coming together completely. He has Lyric. Lyric Scott, his best friend and girlfriend. Even though he feels like he doesn’t deserve her, he has her completely. He has her friendship, which means everything to him, but he’s also ready. Ready to try to take things a little farther. Adyen makes huge strides in this installment.

Lyric is still the best character Jessica has written. She is so fun and lovable. She’s caring, giving and has the best attitude. She is always there for her Shy Boy. She is everything Ayden needs in a girlfriend and friend and always lets him know that he is good enough for her. I also love the relationship she has with her parents. There was a certain scene or two that had me laughing with Micha… ;)

Honestly, I thought Awakening You was going to be the final book in this series so I was a little surprised when things didn’t start to wrap up in the end. I think this could have been a bit longer and concluded, but who am I to complain there is going to be more Lyric and Ayden?

Another good part of this series. If you're a fan of Jessica Sorensen's books and YA stories then you will enjoy this one. Well written, a bit sweet, a bit mysterious, a bit dark.

Lyric with her dazzling personality is once again a wonderful character and a huge support for Ayden. She knows when to push him but also when to stop doing that. Ayden with help of Lyric, his family and therapy is visibly more opened. Though sometimes still in the dark place, he is trying to overcome some of his reservations with him being touched and they can take the intimacy to the next level (don't count on sex though cause it's rather YA book, but intimacy scene was very well done).

As well as their music career, also their relationship slowly moves forward. As to Ayden's mysterious past and his missing sister, we were given more new facts and hints but we still don't know what? how? why? when? I am so curious!

Overall, a great reading and I just can't wait to start the last part of the series to see how the story wraps up.

“Awakening You” is the third book in Jessica Sorensen’s series “Unraveling You” and picks right up where the second book ends.

Ayden still visits the therapist who should help him deal better with his past. He remembers about his life when he was living with his drug addict mother, his brother and his sister. He also remembers how his mother left him at the house who will change his life forever, how he practically sold them because she needed her next fix. But he can’t remember what really happened inside that house. All he want is to find his sister, but the amnesia therapy doesn’t work. It seems to be doing more harm than help and Ayden begins to experience panic attacks. Things get worse when The Soulless Mileas, the group of people who held Ayden and his siblings for several months contacts him, leaving him notes.

Ayden knows how lucky he is. He has his new family and he has Lyric. When Lila, his adopting mother wants to stop the therapy he’s not very happy. He doesn’t want to fail his sister, he feels responsible for her. On top of that the police are still pressuring him and Ayden and Lyric’s families find out about their secret relationship.

Lyric is there for Ayden, he supports him in everything he does or plan to do. She realizes how deeply in love she is with him and hopes he is with her as well. Poor Ayden feels he’s not good enough for her. He believes Lyric’s family will not approve their relationship.

I like this installment, but I think it was a little slow. I must admit I was expecting more suspense and mystery. However, I liked how Lyric and Ayden’s relationship ‘progressed’. I liked how they are with each other and how they interact with each other. They are so sweet together. Lyric is still awesome. She’s loving, caring and supportive with Ayden’s decisions even if she doesn’t approve of them. Poor Ayden. My heart broke for him. He is so sweet and cares for everyone else so much. He always worries about everyone except himself. :(

There are some interesting twists and I can’t wait to find out how everything will progress.

Overall, a great read!

Loved the first two in this series but lost interests while reading this third book.
I had a hard time finishing this one and I'm sad to say I skimmed after 40%. I might read the last book later but right now I'm not really interested in it at this time. Good grief! Three books and still no answers! Talk about being dragged out! Grrrrrr!!!

I find when I am in a book slump as I had 2 DNFS before this book, that Jessica Sorensen always helps me out of it, and Awakening You was no different as it brings us another installment of the Ayden and Lyric show. At the end of Book #2, we learned that the cult had taken Ayden's sister Sadie and Ayden was pressured by the police to help find them. We read as he undertakes hypnotic therapy to uncover the darkest parts of his mind as he suffers from amnesia with regards to that time in his life. All he knows is he managed to escape but wasn't left unharmed. The cult wants him back and it looks like it's only a matter of time as they have been inching him out slowly with messages left on his car, breaking into his house, and stalking him. It's not fair as he is finally in a great home with the Gregory's who love and care for him. We also see that his relationship with Lyric is starting to heat up and they have close intimate moments of touch - well as much as Ayden can handle. Lyric's dad also gets a visit from his past, which I assume we will see more so in the next book as it just sort of barely touched the surface in Awakening You. Awakening You ended on a major cliffie which revealed that Ayden's birth family might be the reason he is still being tracked down by the cult. I am hoping that in the next book, we get a bit more of Sadie interaction and Ayden saving the day and discovering more of his connection with the cult, and who knows, now that the cat is out of the bag with Lyric and Ayden's relationship - will things heat up a bit more in Book #4 - Inspiring You.

BR with Momo May 3rd!!

I want to scream right now. That ending! How the hell could it end like that after everything that happened? Why couldn't things have ended happy? I guess that's what you get when you know there's another book to come after this one.

I feel so bad for Ayden. He's my favorite character in this series. He's lived through so much and he still has more to face. I'm not sure how he has managed to cope so far. All I want to do is give him a big hug and tell him that everything will be okay again. And that he will find his sister.

My heart is splitting into two
And bleeding out
Because she never knew
Just how good life could be.

He's in a lot of pain. He has a lot of horrible memories. Memories that haunt him more it seems as he goes through the treatment.

Lock yourself up
When are you ever going to learn?
The only way to be free
Is to give in.
The only way to be free
Is to surrender.

I'm glad he and Lyric are going strong. It's nice to see. But I'm not as interested in the relationship as I am in the stuff with his family and past. That's really driving me to want more and more. Don't get me wrong, the couple are great. But there's just something that draws me to the Ayden stuff more.

Really can't wait for the next book! The final book. I really hope everything wraps up well.

Wow! This book kept me on edge the whole time!

The author makes you feel everything the characters are going through. Fear, pain, anger, hope, love. You can feel them all to the bones.

The contrast between Ayden's "Shy Boy" persona and Lyric's bubbly personality works perfectly. I couldn't love these characters more.

I'm equally waiting for and dreading the end of this series.

No.

¿Leeré la continuación? Solo el futuro (y mi masoquismo) lo dirá.

This book was originally reviewed on The Book Hookup.

squee I. LOVE. THIS. SERIES. This won’t be a long review, just long enough to tell you all the reasons why this is another 5 stars. Everything in this installment progressed: the relationship, the love, the drama, the threats, the self discovery, and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.

The story started out with the same crazy intensity as the last book ended, and I had my heart in my throat as I began…and as it ended. Just know the threats don’t go away, and the craziness of what happened to Ayden and the concern for his sister ramps up.

The romantic relationship between Lyric and Ayden progressed at just the right rate. I will admit that was my favorite part of the story. It was baby steps, but every single touch was so worth the wait. ♥

One of the reasons the romance could move ahead was because Ayden really began his journey of discovering his self worth. It was beautiful to watch him grow more comfortable with the idea, and so incredibly heart warming.

The ending was wild. It was insane, and I have to find out what happens. Ayden met up with someone and it was SO RISKY! But it only made him have more questions. He came to a decision on what he needed to do, and at the same time realized how he felt about Lyric. So many emotions at once…I was on overload and I loved it.

Rec it? YES! Awakening You continues the series that is giving us amazing love story, with a huge suspense / thriller theme. Loved it!

Happy reading!

Lyric and Ayden continue to be one of my favourite young couples, and things are slowly starting to heat up between them in this third book.

Lyric is still as sweet as ever and so patient with Ayden, who is trying to deal with his past, his kidnapped sister, and trying to open up more with Lyric. Intimacy is something he struggles with, but he's learning to love and conquering his issues and it was nice to see some progress there.

As others have mentioned, this story did wane a bit because aside from the couple getting closer, not too much happens. We are still no closer to knowing who has his sister, and what they want with Ayden and that is awfully frustrating! There were a couple of heart racing moments, but I do wish there were more.

No matter... I am still enraptured by this series and these characters, and luckily it's not a long wait for book four. Hopefully that book will give us all the answers.

Dang - those cliffhangers are killers. The clues are more forthcoming and the relationship between Ayden and Lyric continues to deepen and Ayden's determination to find his sister and to open up more to Lyric is captivating.

Great series and I can't wait for what hopefully will be the final installment with all the answers and a happy-ever-after.

This series has me completely hooked right from the start and this book is no exception. It's full of danger, wit, humour and of course love and I couldn't love it more. Everyone should read at least one series written by Jessica Sorensen. You won't be disappointed.

I feel like a lot of this review will be a repeat of my Raveling You review. This is a different kind of series than I’m used to. Instead of each book feeling like a separate piece of the overall puzzle, each book in this series really just feels like a continuation of one story. Awakening You picks up pretty much where Raveling You left off. Ayden is still in therapy trying to recover his lost memories. His relationship with Lyric is continuing to grow and deepen even if it’s not really moving forward physically. He is becoming more and more a part of the Gregory family. Ayden is not just helping the police search for his brother’s killer, but he’s also trying to find his kidnapped (again) sister. But just as he is pursuing those who held him captive several years ago, it seems as if those people are hunting and stalking him just as much.

There are so many small pieces of this story that are moving along. Lyric and Ayden are still in a band. They’re making music together. Lyric is still working to overcome her stage freight, and she’s working on getting Ayden to agree to do a duet with her. They settle for writing a song together. And there’s even the potential (through Micha’s connections) that they might be able to tour during the summer. But Ayden can’t commit to something like that as long as his sister is still being held captive.

Fiona seems to have some strange things going on. She keeps mentioning that she can feel things before they happen or as they happen or maybe she dreams that things are going to happen. Really it’s quite unclear, but what is obvious is that Ayden’s sister, Sadie, had/has a similar ability. I’m waiting to see what becomes of that.

With Lyric’s help in the form of sketching a tattoo design for him, Ayden begins to try to move beyond his past and really make some progress on the physical contact with other people. Getting the tattoo that was branded on him covered up is a huge step in him feeling free of the people from his past while also being a giant step because of the amount of time that the tattoo artist had to actually be in contact with his skin. That, plus his increasing desire to be with Lyric in a more intimate way has him pushing past some things that make him uncomfortable. The two still haven’t progressed too far physically, and we all know that I always appreciate that.

As I already mentioned, someone appears to be stalking Ayden. Leaving him notes. Breaking into his house. Snagging a chunk of his hair. Following him. And all roads point toward the cult people from his past that held and tortured him and his siblings. I’ve been continually impressed with how frequently Lyric and Ayden both actually turn to and turn over evidence to the adults and authorities instead of how a typical series about characters this age and undergoing these circumstances would have the characters trying to tackle these big things by themselves. Kudos. That’s not to say that Ayden and Lyric always involve their parents or the police but for the most part, I’ve been impressed.

As with the previous two installments, it doesn’t feel like we’ve actually made much progress at all in the overall story. Figuring out what happened to Ayden in his past, what these people want with him, finding his sister (alive or dead), or even in moving forward in his life. It’s hard to imagine how everything will be wrapped up in just over 100 pages with the next book, Inspiring You, but I do believe that’s the last book of the series.

Favorite quote:

”…wanting to overcome something is the first step to getting there.”

Awakening You feels like just as good of an installment as the previous two. I’m so curious to know the answers to all of my questions. I do worry a little bit that the last book will be slightly rushed in trying to wrap everything up as well as reveal all of the answers about the past considering the length. But I enjoyed Awakening You all the same. Awakening You gets 4 Stars. Have you read Awakening You? What did you think? Let me know!

AWAKENING YOU by Jessica Sorensen is the third book in the Unraveling You series. When I got the ARC of this book, I knew I wanted some uninterrupted time with this novel because Sorensen has this unique way of pulling you in and making you care about her characters.

Ayden has been undergoing some therapy that should help him with his amnesia. After the death of his brother, he is more than determined to find out what really happened to him and his siblings. Knowing that his sister, Sadie is still out there, perhaps suffering, makes him want to tear open his mind just to help her. However, the amnesia therapy seems to be doing more harm than help as Ayden begins to experience panic attacks. His sleepwalking also worsens and it isn’t until Lyric helps distract him that he feels like he can function again.

A lot of questions are raised in this book, but not all of them are answered. I was hoping that this would be the book where all of those loose ends were tied up, but it seems that Sorensen has something else in mind. She raises the stakes in this book, deepening conflict and creating more questions instead of answers. I’m starting to get worried because Ayden seems to be reaching his breaking point and to make matters worse, the Gregorys are starting to worry for him as well.

On the romantic front, Lyric and Ayden make some progress although it stands more on the sweet and emotional side rather than the hot sexiness that we are used to from Sorensen. I don’t mind at all. After the suggested sexual abuse Ayden has endured, it’s only natural for him to get nervous at physical contact. What makes the romance for me is the fact that Lyric doesn’t ever push him. She waits and waits and waits until he feels comfortable enough to make that first step. For a girl who is as impatient and lively as Lyric is, it’s a major consideration and shows just how much she cares about Ayden.

Sorensen also touches on Sage and Maggie. Now this is an interesting development because as you know, Sage had a thing for Lyric once. I don’t know how I feel about this yet; it’s too early to tell but what I do know is that I want something GREAT for Sage. I think he’s going to be the bad boy that is reminiscent of Quinton or maybe even Micha’s character.

AWAKENING YOU is brimming with real emotion. Every time I opened up a Jessica Sorensen book, I know I’m going to be falling for the couple. She simply writes the best characters.

In "Awakening You," Ayden is more desperate than ever to remember his past in the hope of saving his sister. Dangerous decisions are made that has the darkness taking over his life. He will need Lyric now more than ever.

Lyric knows that there are pieces of Ayden she still hasn't discovered. His self-worth is at an all-time low but her constant reinforcement of her feelings is too much for Ayden to ignore. The pressure from the police, the guilt surrounding how his past is affecting his family, Ayden's mind becomes overwhelmed.

Using the band and writing songs, Lyric encourages Ayden's belief in himself. "Awakening You" is filled with so many beautiful words, song lyrics and thoughts that will have your heart and soul moved to pieces.

So many questions exist in this series. Will Ayden be able to remember his past in time to save his sister? Will Lyric and Ayden be able to explore the feelings they have for one another or will Ayden stay too closed off? Can Lyric keep her cheery disposition and be the strong rock that Ayden needs her to be? Most importantly, will everyone be able to stay safe in the process?

Another great series that packs all the necessary emotions in each page. Another 5+++ series for Jessica Sorensen and true romance readers everywhere!

Another great sequel in this series.
But I am not impressed. This was supposed to be a 3 book series, but instead Jessica separated it and made book 3 200 pages long. Seriously, I finished this book in one sitting (an hour or so). I kept waiting and waiting, but it felt like a buffer.
You know when you watch a TV show and they have that awkward buffer episode between episode 5 or so and the mid-season finale episode? And it usually sucks (at least on most TV shows)? That's what this was.
Not saying it was bad, but they just kind of extended book 2. If the author made book 1 and 2 slightly longer, we could have avoided this awkward buffer where nothing new is discovered.
But having said that, this book was exciting. Like I said, nothing new really happened, but it was still exciting.
Plus, I strongly believe that Fiona has something to do with all of this.
But I swear that if this contemporary series takes a turn to the paranormal I will not be happy.
Lyric and Adien's relationship grows in this book on the romantic side. I was still glad that they didn't jump each other every chance they got, but instead made it realistic about Aiden and his issues.

5 Completely Frustrated Stars

Ugh I so love this series which is why I am frustrated, I want to know what those people did to this poor boy! I NEED to know the rest of the story! Jessica you are killing me here, but I will be a good soldier and wait until May for my next fix!

Lyric and Ayden are back in this next installment. Ayden is still struggling with trying to resurrect memories of his horrible past. There are people who are trying to mess with his mind. He must find his sister or a least know what is going on. He wants "normal" but until he can reveal the ugliness that hides in his mind, "normal" is just out of reach. He is willing to do whatever it takes to bring an end to all this madness.

I am dying to know who these sicko people are and what was done to him. The glimpses I have seen are heartbreaking.

Lyric is still Ayden's light. She is what keeps him going and helps ease his nightmares. She is light to his darkness.

I am so very much in love with these books!

I absolutely love this series! I love the characters and the storyline. I didn't realize that this wasn't the last one in the series and that there would be another. I know to expect that with this author and sometimes it's really agitating, BUT I love this series and theses characters so much that I don't even care. I will be (im)patiently waiting for the next one!
