Will time prove not to be in Jake and Ella’s favor, as the stakes are risen, and dire consequences unfold themselves?

And with a big foreboding of---
Love.Sex.Murder.Insanity.Compulsion.Mystery.

For the most part, this book was pretty suspenseful. I spent a lot of it trying to determine who the big baddie was and what their motive was. To say I was shocked, would sum up what I felt. I didn’t expect that!

Otherwise, as for Jake and Ella, well, a lot of their parts felt redundant and like going in circles. I loved that Jake was alpha and possessive, but sometimes his and Ella’s relationship sometimes felt based on lust, sex, obsessive tendencies, and even jealousy. I don’t really get what makes them coming back to one another other than each other’s looks and the out of this world bedroom kinks.

And Ella’s intangible, out of this world beauty? Wah, she must be Aphrodite incarnated or something because she has SO MANY dang suitors! And then to have them be so gah-gah and go ballistic over her, reminded me of Helen of Troy. How men would go to war for her. Hmmm.

I don’t know. This book was a mere borderline for me. I liked it, but I would have liked more actually rapport and relationship building between both main protagonists instead of the repetitive themes and circumstances that I kept on seeing.

ARC READ. Review to follow
My reivew:
I've read quite a few of Victoria Paige's books, including the Guardian Series and the Always series.
I love her writing style and the strong heroines in both of those series.
I also enjoy reading about the quiet, more reserved heroine and hero.
In this book, it starts of with a bang. Literally.
I don't mean to be funny, it's not. The hero Jake and heroine Ella are together from the beginning of the book.
Ella, is quiet in her speech and manner. Jake is definitely an alpha male and OTT with Ella in every way.
There is a triangle- I wouldn't say LOVE triangle though. The motives for Ella being with another man is explained in the book to the reader and Jake is aware of the om. In this case Jake is the om, since he pursues Ella while she's with the om. There is evidence of cruelty by the om and Jake vows to protect her from danger.. The om, Clayton, is Jake's rival. I won't say how, but it's explained early in the story.
I didn't feel as emotionally connected to this heroine. Some of her decisions didn't make sense to me. Ella put herself in danger and took abuse to get information on her missing sister. There is another bad guy out there, who is it? I have to say, I figured out who, but what identity was he using? The suspense was the best part of the book. There were some secondary characters that I was suspecting....
As I mentioned, I do like a quiet heroine, but Ella wasn't my favorite of Ms Paige's awesome female characters. Ella had a lot of admirers throughout the book. I couldn't figure out why she would allow herself to be abused-after the first time. I liked Jake, but he was taking on a trouble magnet.
This was quite the page turner. There are quite a few twists, so watch for them. There is an HEA including a very good epilogue.
Seems like a standalone to me.:) I will give this 3.75 stars, rounding up to 4 for the writing skill and style. I wish that I had Ms Paige's grammar and English composition when I had to take English Comp 101 TWICE in college (boo).

"Extremely obsessive and jealous hero" *swoons*

Merged review:

"Ella was his weakness. She could shatter him into a million pieces. And she was the only one that could put him back together again."

3 "OTT Jealous Alpha Hero" stars!

My first Victoria Paige book.

Jake Hopper was probably the most overbearing alpha hero I've read about. His jealous and possessive nature was consistent throughout the book. He only sees the heroine, he was devoted to her in a way that he didn't touch any other women during the months they were apart. He was completely obsessed with her, and to say that I was elated was an understatement. Jake only escalated my love for obsessive alpha males to a whole new different level, thanks to this author. I need more heroes like him!

If you want to know how Jake is when he gets jealous, here is a scene from the book, my favorite one:

He was gone, caught in the frenzy of jealousy-edged lust. The need to pound into her took over as he quickened his pace. Pulling out, pushing in, his pumping hard and relentless. He trapped her hands above her head as he moved inside her, above her, keeping focus on her face.
Thrust.
Mine!
Thrust.
Mine!
Thrust.
Mine. Mine. Mine.
His obsession was raw; his love was boundless. It was all-encompassing, and he was never letting her go. So here he was branding her, marking her, sealing her fate.

Talk about a total alpha caveman in bed!

However, in spite of my love for the hero, I felt a little disconnected with the main characters and the story itself. I just didn't feel any emotional connection between Jake and the heroine, Ella, no matter how possessive Jake was. At times I felt like they were only using each other purely for sex. I need more emotional chemistry between them, not just intense sex and hard f*cking (though I admit I enjoyed their very intense chemistry in bed, lol). And I wasn't a fan of the heroine. The portrayal of her character just didn't make the story believable, the fact that she had a bunch of men after her made me arch a brow.

As for the story, I felt like things were a bit rushed in the beginning of the book. I wish that the author should've taken her time in letting her characters develop, instead of rushing things straight to the suspense part. That said, it was still a fairly entertaining read. The writing was great and will have you at the edge of your seat. I'm a huge fan of romantic suspense, so I still enjoyed this book nonetheless. I look forward to reading more of this author's works and more OTT jealous and possessive alpha males.

Jake Is HOT!!!

I am very lucky to have an in with the author of Deadly Obsession and she supplies me with my drug of choice…Hot Alpha Males!! Thanks Ms Paige for the ARC and the opportunity to read and review.

Jake is an ex-fighter who works hard to get past his rough start to life and becomes CEO of a company that deals in construction. He has led a busy life making work his priority. Unfortunately this included marrying a woman (stupid cow) who would improve his business. She’s an idiot who loses him, but he is nice enough to let her keep her job. Ella is recovering from tragic loss and finds escape in a dangerous way. She is a very beautiful woman who men can’t help falling for. Jake and Ella meet up and have an instant physical attraction to each other. Unfortunately she is in a relationship already.

This story scraped along the edge of my comfort zone. Relationships that start in this way normally get my back up. In this case I was able to get past it. Ms Paige has a talent for explaining the motivations of the characters to make the situation come through clearer and harder to form judgements.

Jake is a foul mouthed, sexy hunk of a man who knows what he wants…and it’s Ella. This journey for the couple is not easy. There are many obstacles in the way of their happiness, but fortunately they both want it enough to work for it. They had to learn to live with each other and their possessive quirks, but they also had some issues in the bedroom. Boy did I like to see them work through those problems. Ms Paige has written some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read.

There is some violence throughout the story and there is one scene towards the end that surprised me a little, but I was able to get past it.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and I feel that Ms Paige’s style and talent improves with each release. It is different from her usual fare, but definitely as good if not better.

Thank you Ms Paige for being a wonderful friend and helping me feed my addiction.

Not only is his ex-wife still a part of his life - and no, they didn't have children - they work together so they see each other ALL THE TIME. As if that isn't enough, they stay at and eventually move to the house he stayed with his now ex-wife, and the neighbor next door is the realtor he purchased it from and he used to screw her. Oh, and she calls him Jakey, which is freaking annoying, AND she and heroine became friends! WTH? No. Just no. These two things ruined what could've been a good book. The ow drama, both women he's been with, both constantly around him, was too much. Ugh. Disappointed.

From the opening scene, this book sucked me in with a sense of OH my gosh what will happen next? I love suspense, I love sexy times, I really love dirty mouth alpha males who aren't shy about going after what they want. Jake wanted Ella like he had never wanted anything.

From the bottom of his soul to the breath that he breathed he needed her like air. The mystery right away had me trying to figure things out and every single time I was wrong. With Ella it was like an onion being peeled back trying to figure out really what was in her heart and with someone like Jake, thankfully he took the choice out of her hands. She only had to let her mind follow her heart.

Victoria Paige just has this way with the suspense that makes you flip through the pages devouring her reads. But right there in the middle you're falling in love at the same time as the characters. I wanted to figure this book out so bad and at the same time didn't want to finally come to the conclusion because then it would be over. But Victoria didn't let this be a crash landing. NO she wrapped it up perfectly and left me smiling and warm all over. I adored every moment and even though the blurb and the first few chapters would make me think this would cross boundaries I usually run from..it is not like that at all. One amazing love story with characters I just loved from the start ..even when I didn't know if I should like them at all. Passion and electricity that is what kept me riveted and that is what kept me reading. Total post-romantic-read happiness hangover commences right now. .

Jake and Ella started off in an odd situation, but I liked them together and he was so crazy about her. The suspense aspect was also really good. This would have been a 5 star for me if we weren't introduced to Candy- Jake's next door neighbor, business associate, and former f*ck buddy. Not only was she rude when she met the h- looking at Jakes crotch and insinuating they had been intimate, she also received oral from Ella's best male friend during a party- off in a room and Ella walked in on them. Candy seemed like a permanent fixture in their lives which creeped me out especially because she still called Jake- Jakey. Gross! Safety gang safe

An Intriguing, Hot, Romantic Suspense That Kept Me Guessing!

This romantic suspense story is darker than the other books by Ms. Paige and will push some readers' boundaries. There are warnings of triggers and deviant sexual behavior given up front so some readers should proceed with caution.

The first chapter of the story pulled me right in and I wanted to see where it was going. The reader is immediately presented with two main characters that are sexually obsessed with one another. Jake is a dirty talking alpha male that wants the mysterious temptress Ella even when he discovers she is already in a relationship. Physical evidence from her S&M lifestyle with her lover shout "abuse" to Jake. He wants to rescue her from this terrible relationship. Ella refuses to leave her lover, and Jake decides he can't live with being the other man. He walks away.

So I was ready to throw my kindle at this point….. but I kept going. All hell breaks loose, and Jake can't let Ella go ever again. I have to find out why. I just know there is more to this woman than what is happening on the surface. And of course there is!

The suspense plot that has this couple skirting danger at every turn involves a serial killer making women disappear. If the reader can hang in there through the first chapters, it won't take long to find out that there is a lot more going on with Ella's lifestyle. She is living a screwed up life for a tragic reason, but you have to keep reading to find out why before judging her. Ella is strong and determined to handle things that are quite dangerous on her own and way out of her league. Some of her choices left me uncomfortable even though I understood her motives. I was frustrated when she took unnecessary chances that brought on Jake's protective and angry reactions.

Jake is determined to keep her safe and forge a deep and lasting relationship during all this drama. His actions are sometimes hard to tolerate even though you know his nature is to be in control and dictate the couple's sexual escapades. He is an over the top alpha who enjoys rough sex play. He also has a dark history that makes him fight ruthlessly for what he wants. For some there may be times that he crosses the line in his jealous and possessive behavior, but he also can admit when he is wrong and apologize. Ella calls him on his extreme behavior. They do work on their problems and come to some compromises or acceptance of their needs.

There is a murder mystery at the center of this couple's journey. Jake can't stay away from the woman in the middle of it. She brings excitement as well as heartache to his life. This white knight wants to save this woman from herself. There is more to her dark life than meets the eye and watching Jake unravel the mystery of Ella kept me intrigued. The couple tries to build a life while evading a serial killer. Even though there is cheating at the beginning, once I knew why, it was something I chose to overlook for the sake of the unfolding suspense story. The plot does explain the trigger that I normally will not tolerate in my romances.

I was uncomfortable with parts of this story, but the story was still riveting and I found myself rooting for the couple despite some of the dark elements and the characters' faults. This can be credited to the writing of the author. I commend her for pushing the envelope while still writing a love story with a HEA. I enjoyed the suspense, and I grew to like the strong alpha with his extreme jealous and possessive tendencies and the woman of mystery who owns his soul. They kept fighting for justice and found the love of their lives in one another despite the odds against them.

I received an ARC from the author for my honest opinion. I appreciate the chance to read her work anytime.

Rec - 5 stars and now a favorite!

H - OTT j/p, controlling, dirty talking, non-abusive, obsessed with the h and intense in his love for her but not what I would consider an alpha-hole nor an anti-H. He's a man utterly determined to have his woman and keep her safe.
h - Strong, admirable (when you learn more about her motives), not a bitch, not tstl. You WILL be uncomfortable with what she's doing as it pushes boundaries. (She's initially a masochist.)
Sex - open door and hot! You WILL be uncomfortable with what she does as it pushes boundaries.
3rd person POV with POV's from H and h
Triggers - The h was severely beaten by a bad om. The h is almost raped by a bad guy; and what some might consider cheating on the h's part BUT there are unusual circumstances. (When you get deeper into the story, you'll understand. It doesn't feel like cheating.)
HEA

Holy holtness! Wow! I loved this book! I'm not a romantic suspense fan but if all romantic suspense books were like this, I'd be instantly converted, lol. The romantic suspense story did not overtake the romance imo and I loved that. This is what I'm looking for in a romance! Read the preview and trust me, you'll instantly get it. Here are the first two sentences of the book (& yes this is the H and h) -

" "You like that, my little slut?"
Jake whispered to the woman he was fucking over the sink. "

Yep. It's starts out with a bang! Literally! (Lol!) I absolutely loved this H and I love how he talked to the h.

" "I love you." Jake declared. "I fucking love you." "

This H was 100% obsessed with the h. She was "it" for him. While he was intense and very controlling (he kidnaps her at one point) he wasn't abusive and I love-love-LOVED that!!
He never degraded her or talked down to her except in one scene early in the book that was unusual & he was justified. I loved the dialogue between the two. They had great chemistry together and yet there were some lol moments -

The h - " "I think I've done well putting up with your overbearing ass," Ella retorted.
(The H) "Oh baby, you haven't seen overbearing yet."
Ella cast him a look of mock horror. His woman didn't know how possessive he was with her and how much he had actually been reining it in. If he had his way, he wouldn't let another man near her."

There were a ton of j/p scenes! It was like a j/p lover's buffet. :D Some scenes were quite explosive when his jealousy was out of control and dangerously close to pushing the edge of acceptability yet this H was not psychotic and didn't cross the line. This is how I want my H's to be. I knew he cared about her more than his OTT feelings. (He 100% would've stopped if the h wanted him to and that OTT scene is my favorite scene of the book Victoria Paige!)

I also love that I felt the H's love for the h.

" "I love you," Jake whispered. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, have babies with you, grow old with you. I hope you feel the same way because I'm never letting you go."

I do recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a darker, more intense romance. Even if cheating is your trigger, my guess is you'll be ok with this one.

Regarding the cheating trigger -

You want everything? This book has everything.

Victoria Paige is truly the author of smut for smart girls. I already consider myself pretty smart, but I had to look up 10 words while reading this book. I love words, and want to personally thank the author for expanding my vocabulary (and for Kindle Paperwhite for adding the Vocabulary Builder function).

So. You can get smarter reading this book. You can also enjoy a tale that includes an alphahole (I also love made-up words), a dirty-talker (YES!) and so much intense suspense, you'll be clutching your chest!

There are few books that affect me the way this one did. It's a bit of a departure from the author's usual work, and I'm loving this turn. It's darker and the title, Deadly Obsession, only begins to describe the book. The synopsis tells so little about this book, and that's a good thing. I guessed one surprise in the first fifth of the book, but everything after that was one thrilling surprise after another. By the end, I was smiling so hard, my cheeks hurt and I was hugging my Kindle. The biggest surprise was that I wanted to start all over and read it again immediately. The only other books I've felt that way about were the three Fifty Shades books.

This book will definitely be read repeatedly. I already know this. The next time, it will be as a read-aloud to my husband. In fact, we're going to read the whole Victoria Paige library together.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, but I also bought the book, because I believe in helping to support one of my top-three favorite authors financially. READ THIS BOOK.
_______________

Read again January 2016 aloud to hubby:

It is still a favorite and I loved it just as much reading it aloud. This was hubby's favorite book from Victoria Paige's library (so far...a little bird told me she is writing again!), and I think it's my favorite, too. We have finished our journey through these delicious books. I know I'll be back through again myself someday. Each one lends itself to multiple readings. Happy reading!

So frustrated that life got in the way when I was in the thick of reading Deadly Obsession. Looking back, I stopped at about the 76% mark because I wanted my head to be in the right space to read on. If only I knew that I was so close to getting answers and a whole lot of easier moments I'm sure I would have kept reading! Good aspect to this was I was able to have that great cover constantly on my currently reading shelf...

It was easy to pick up where I left off as the characters and story were still clear in my head enough not to go back and start all over again. Really pleased I picked this up again and got to enjoy that final chapter. This story is a real mixture of dark, suspense, friends, alpha men and some really scrumptious food descriptions! I loved the background story of Ella's love of baking and her focus on turning a favourite past time into more. All this while Ella desperately tries to uncover the truth behind her sister's disappearance with her attempts to do so being constantly distracted IMO by men keen to help her one way or another.

Wasn't too sure where my allegiances lay, Aron was my first choice, Jake can be a tad OTT alpha at times LOL but then he has this wonderful way of redeeming himself that has me overlooking his demanding streak :)

Obsession they are powerless to resist…

Jake Hopper, CEO of a steel company, is obsessed with a beautiful woman at his country club. The sexual tension between them is palpable. They eye each other hungrily across the room and are affected by each other’s presence to the exclusion of all else in the environment. He is so obsessed that he starts an affair with this woman who belongs to another man, the man his ex-wife cheated on him with. Was it revenge in his thoughts that drove him? Perhaps but his obsession with the woman increases with every encounter and jealousy that he’s never known eats at him forcing him to give her an ultimatum that makes her disappear for a week and has him stalking her home.

Ella Michel is a woman with serious secrets who is playing a dangerous game. Getting involved with the handsome CEO was never part of the plan. But there is something about this man that calls to her sexually on a primal level, something she never expected to find considering what she has transformed herself into and makes her want something she can never have. She cannot control this alpha of a man and when she shows him what she truly needs at his request he callously sends her away, confirmation to her that there is no hope.

And then all hell breaks loose as the reader begins a rollercoaster ride of action and suspense.

To say that Jake is a very forceful alpha is an understatement, his obsession and jealously border on stalker but it works for this character. He’s also protective and caring of what he considers his own and doesn’t go against his principles which are not saintly to begin with but he has his own code. There is much depth to this man who has his own secrets from the past, secrets that he’ll reactivate to get what he wants, Ella in his life and to keep her safe and anyone who stands in his way he’ll likely eliminate.

When I think of Ella, the Siren of Greek mythology comes to mind for she’s depicted as the temptress of men. She is quite a contradiction though, what we first see is a femme fatale, a black widow in nature yet when we meet the woman behind the façade and learn the lengths that she has gone to for family it breaks your heart. She’s a strong woman but the players in the game are deadly and she’s really out of her league but that doesn’t stop her from striving to attain her goal with or without Jake’s help when he learns the truth. He may want to protect her but that doesn’t stop her from challenging him.

The dual points of view gave us great insight into both of the protagonists. Their romance that began as a lust-filled attraction was sexy and also sweet. I enjoyed seeing them learn about each other and liking what they found. They denied their feelings for a long time but there was no doubt they were in love.

Cheating is something that I dislike in romances because it means someone gets hurt but things are not always as they seem. I was allowed a preview of the first few chapters and was satisfied that it wouldn’t be a problem plus I was thoroughly intrigued and needed to know what would happen next.

I loved this! This is dark romantic suspense with twists and turns that had my head spinning and kept me turning the pages. The characters were so compelling and I became invested in their outcome early on. There were many interwoven threads that had me guessing and not always correctly. The ending was lovely, perfect for these two who never lost their obsession with each other.

Do heed the warning if you are sensitive to such things as deviant behavior though I did not find them overly graphically described. Obsession is the theme throughout the book, it will either cause a person to crash and burn or sometimes in obsession redemption, love, and a future can be found.

Publication date will be April 15th per the author.

Yowzers, this was one brilliant read. Ms Paige sure knows how to weave a brilliant suspense story filled with lots of hotness, and she knocked this one out of the park. In fact, I think it's her best work yet.

If I'm honest I was a bit hesitant to start it, I am not a fan of dark for dark's sake and this was not the case here. It was used to perfection and done in such a way that the story was so much better for it, even if I was holding my breath in places.

How the hell did I fall head over heels for Jake? Stalker tendencies shouldn't do it for me! Why the hell was I rooting for Jake, the OM? Why did I want to bitch slap his ex wife? Because I was that sucked in to the story, that's why.

I tell ya this was one roller-coaster of a ride, with a twist I did NOT expect. Once I started this I could not put it down, it had me that engrossed to see where the author was taking the story.

I can't really say anything else for fear of spoilers, but I will say if you love hot, growly "mine" alpha males then this is the book for you.

Spoiler Ahead This was a pretty good book. Jake is obsessed with Ella the first time he see's her but she is with another man, a man she has no intention of leaving. Jake's obsession with Ella Michel makes him a very jealous man everyman wants her and this puts Jake into a rage. Having grown up on the streets of Chicago, Jake Hopper was taken in by the Italian mafia when he was just a young boy, becoming part of the organization and fighting in illegal underground matches. It wasn't until he'd graduated from college and started a respectable position at Steele Construction that he'd asked for, and had been granted, his freedom. With a sadistic ex-boyfriend intent on keeping her and a serial killer favoring victims who look like her, Ella immerses herself in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, determined to win at any cost. This was a pretty good book the sex scenes where hot. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. This was my first time reading this author and not my last.

This book had the kind of OTT obsessive and possessive H that I crave. However, the h ruined it for me. She is especially trained to tempt men and cheats on her boyfriend with the H. Plus, she has no feelings for the boyfriend and is only sleeping with him to get information about her missing sister. Because the h had special training, I doubted the H's feeling for her. It seemed like it was bc she knew how to lure men in and we see this continuously throughout the book. I wished the h was a normal person and the H saw her and became obsessed with her. Instead she seemed like a rich man's mistress who seduces the H, which is exactly what happened. The mystery was disappointing. Clarice was such an awful character. Who acts like that!?!? I don't think this author writes women well. They are portrayed as overly sexual, greedy, superficial, and catty. Overall, great H but everything else was bad.

Well, I’m an effing moron. It took me forever to read this book. But not the way you’re thinking… so, let’s go from the beginning.

I’d been waiting for this book to be finished what it felt like for-freaking-ever. I had the fortune of getting a teaser peak from the author early on and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. So, as soon as I got my ARC (thank you very, very much Ms. Paige) I started it.
Now, everything that followed was on me. I wasn’t really in the mood for dark-ish twisty suspense, but as I love (and that is l.o.v.e. LOVE) Victoria Paige’s work and she seriously knows how to keep you engaged, I read half the book in one sitting (well, make that one lying, as it was at night, but you get what I mean). So, I got around the 50% mark, but when I woke up the next day (really, really sleep deprived) I just wasn’t in the mood to pick it up again.
It could be that I wasn’t feeling Ella as much as I connect with Ms. Paige’s usual female lead… ok. OK. More like I just didn’t like her because of how they met, even when I started to get the picture of why she did the things she did.

Last night I sat my stupid ass (more like lay said ass in bed, as it was night again) and forced myself to restart it. And this is why I want to kick my own behind, hard.
This book was FUCKING AWESOME. Ms Page has the ability to always keep you guessing. Whenever you’re sure you know where things are going she blindsides you with a twist out of nowhere you could have predicted, but that is still completely within the plotline (some authors just throw shit around that you find completely unrelated to the story, that is so not the case with this author) you just didn’t see it coming (and this is why I’m seriously sleep deprived this morning as well).

Now, yes, Jake is the epitome of OTT alpha, and no, I don’t give one flying fig. I LOVE how Victoria Paige writes alpha males, I’m pretty sure all of her Hs are borderline (if not complete inside the category) OTT, but in a way that you want your own OTT alpha hot guy to follow you around. Well, I do anyway.

I really enjoyed the story, I think it was fresh and out of the norm (with all the dark themed BDSM related reads now out there). I believe that even without the high-octane action her books are usually filled with she still managed to keep the action flowing and the suspense pretty much from start to finish.

I could never 100% like Elle, I understand now what and why she went through the things she did, but still can’t completely agree with her reasoning. Although by the end of the book I loved her, there’s a tiny little mini piece of me that just couldn’t completely connect with her.
So this is why this is a 4.5 stars read for me and not a full 5 stars.

I think this book needs to be read when you’re exactly in the mood, but even if it ends as one of those that you hate to love, if you start it, you won’t be able to not see it through.

Dark, Sexy, and Suspenseful.

Victoria Paige is an extremely talented author. She has become a one-click author for me. If she releases a book I will purchase it without hesitation. Deadly Obsession is a masterfully written suspenseful and dark thriller. This book had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next.

Deadly Obsession starts out with a lot of sex in the very beginning you begin to wonder if Jake is just a sex crazed power-hungry millionaire and if this is just going to be another one of those stories...I can tell you it's not like any other story I have read. Jake is originally attracted to Ella's beauty and Ella is attracted to Jake' rough exterior. She craves normalcy in her sexual encounters. Jake gives her what she needs without pain and she becomes just as addicted to him as he is to her.

This story is very dark. Ella is trained to be a sadist and is sent undercover by the FBI into a very dangerous situation where she seduces a man who has some very dark tastes when it comes to sex. Samuel Clayton is twisted and sick. You end up hating him so much that you cheer when Jake gets his hands on him. There is no rape involved in this story. I don't think I could handle that but there is a lot of pain and twisted sexual scenarios. To top things off there is a serial killer on the lose that is obsessed with Ella because she is the only woman who Samuel would not share with him. The killer is a level 4 sadist and Samuel would share his women with this man and would not ask questions when they turned up missing as he himself feared him. The question is who is this mystery man Samuel calls him and can the FBI find him before he finds Ella.

Get ready for a twisted and dark thriller that you soon will not forget.

ARC PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR HONEST REVIEW

I love Victoria Paige's book. She is one of the author whose work I have read and would keep reading. This is one have some trigger that some reader don't like but when everything is explained it make sense. So give it a chance you will love the romance and suspense of this book. Victoria intricate them perfectly through out the book.

This is Ella and Jake story. Usually I fell in love with hero before heroin but Ella stole my heart with her tenacity to do anything to find her sister. She was venerable as well as strong and I love that about her. She went through hell but never stop fighting. I loved that she didn't have TSTL movements cause hate that in book. Jake was a alpha male but he has a softer side. He was ass sometime but he owned up to when he knew he went overboard. I loved Aron I hope we get his story.

The suspense of the book had me guessing who was the bad guy. It was not who I thought it was. I love getting lengthy Epilogue and we get one. Their HEA was great and loved seeing Jake and Ella with their small family at the end

Jack is a 5 star H. I Loved his j/p caring attitude towards h. Yet he had a badass edge. I wished .

At times the h frustrated me. Her reactions to events were frustrating. .

The story flowed well but it needed more. It wasn't fleshed out enough & more events needed to be shown.

I enjoyed the twists in the story.

Really didn't think that I would like this book, once I realized the content. But once I read it, I was "WOW"! I couldn't get enough of this book! It's content is not for the faint of heart to say the least! As I was reading I really believe the my reality was so lost into the characters that it took a bit to recollect once I placed the reader down for the night. This will be a MUST read this year if you haven't already!

I have read a lot of Victoria Paige's books. A LOT! But this book is one of her absolutely hottest books. If you are looking for a steamy, suspenseful, lustfilled, dark romance...THIS is the book for you.

Jake and Ella's connection would get any reader hooked in a mere few pages. I couldn't stop reading. I wanted more and more of their story as I read. If I could give it more stars, I would. Buckle up...and keep an open mind. Expect the unexpected with these two. I promise you won't be disappointed.

My thoughts: Don’t cut me. I am one of those girls that LOVES to read about a semi stalker alpha. LOVE IT. I can never get enough of it, having the fantasy that someone wants you that much oooh boy. Gotta love the fantasy (it would freak me out if it actually happened).

This book gives you that in spades. Jake is aggressive, he is possessive, he hates himself and her but can’t let it go and because of that, he finds his sweet. It was beautiful.

I have enjoyed all of Victoria Paige's books. Although this book was a bit darker it was still very enjoyable. She was able to incorporate several of my triggers (cheating, triangles, masochism) and make them work. All of it was incorporated in ways that were reasonable and not annoying.
I also enjoy books with strong heroines. Ella the heroine in this book is not over the top. She is a great combination of strength and vulnerability, especially when dealing with the OTT possessive alpha hero Jake.
This story definitely starts with a serious case of insta lust/love on the part of Jake. Fortunately, he totally owns up to his crazy and his behavior is what I've come to expect from any good alpha male character.
Besides the steamy romance this story involves murder, conspiracy, and plot twists which will keep you intrigued until the very end.
I was able to read this book in one sitting and truly enjoyed it.

3.75 to 4 stars.
4 stars for the plot, it was great but after knowing the suspect, the story was rushed and a little simple for the twist.
The build-up between the main characters felt a bit rushed too. The H got insta love with the h, well, aside from her beauty, I just didn't feel the connection between them at first or why he fell in love with her so fast that he risked his life and was too possessive and over protective with the heroine. Though in the middle of the story, you'll feel the connection between the two. The love scenes were steamy, not too much nonsense dirty talking during their coitus and great bdsm to vanilla development. All in all, it was a great read. I just feel like something is lacking in this book and couldn't figure out what's wrong.
