Darcy's husband, Patrick-le-Pew, turned out to be a right stinker. He casually announced over dinner one evening that he was leaving her for one of their dinner guests. Needless to say, the dinner was ruined. Oblivious to her rival sitting at her own dining table, Darcy didn't see it coming. Now the husband is an ex- and Darcy is left to pick up the pieces. She packs up her life and her two children, leaving London for rural France and Normandy; and a job designing a new garden for an old chateau not far from the historic city of Rouen, thinking this will be a golden opportunity to collect her thoughts before she moves on to something more permanent. But Life, like even the best of designs, seldom goes precisely to plan and Darcy discovers that unexpected opportunities and complications arrive in the form of the chateau's straight-shooting owner and local bad boy made good, Gabriel Dubois.
Irene Davidson was born and raised on the Southland plains in the far south of the South Island New Zealand. All those 'Souths' should give a clue as to just how far south that really is. Looking around, Irene rapidly came to the conclusion that her native home was a long way from ...anywhere, and unless she wanted to spend all her adventures on Stewart Island (which though quite lovely, was an even longer way from anywhere) she’d better get used to flying. With this in mind, she jetted off to complete high school in Tennessee, a degree in Palmerston North, work in London, working holidays in France and a couple of years in Australia, all the while gathering material for writing. After post-graduate study and working as a Landscape Architect, she produced two beautiful babies; both of whom are now well on their way to being grown-ups. Irene currently lives in Seattle, Washington, after a year in Chattanooga, Tennessee (the 'other' south). Her husband Tim is her editor-in-chief and a large black greyhound that she feels may now qualify as one of the most expensive rescued dogs on the planet is her constant writing companion. That is to say, he sleeps while she writes.
