Confessions of a First Lady

Rate this book
What happens when the life you left behind literally shows up at your front door?

Meet Veronica Millhouse. Veronica and her husband Marvin served as the heads and founders of “Clover Hill Church of God in Christ” in Atlanta, GA. From the outside looking in, one would never be able to tell that this family had not always been perfect in God’s eyes. The Millhouses had three beautiful children - a son Marvin, Jr., and a set of twin girls Destiny and Dynasty. Even Marvin Jr.’s girlfriend was an example of near perfection. They were admired, loved and respected by their entire congregation. But what happens when buried secrets and hidden indiscretions get exposed for the whole world to see?

Iesha was a bitter, deranged female who had been scorned by her ex-lover. Having lived years as a prostitute had taken its’ toll on her and she looked for someone to blame. Her life’s focus was to get revenge and cause havoc in someone’s life that did not want her and had moved on. She went through hell and high waters to make sure she destroyed her ex lover’s life by any means necessary. Her move from Chicago to Atlanta had nothing to do with a job, as she had told her family; she was finally putting years of planning into motion.

Everyone has a past. Take a journey with the Millhouse family and find out firsthand how secrets, lies and betrayal can turn a family upside down.

This was my first read by Denora Boone & it was a great one as Veronica's past has crept into her present. Interesting storyline & characters helped to complete this story in a couple of hours. Looking forward to reading pt. 2 to see what other confessions are revealed! Recommended to all!

Realistic Read

Confessions of a First Lady was a great story from beginning to end. The drama that went on in this book was so real that you felt like you were right there when the drama unfolded. It is a true statement what's done in the dark will come to the light. It also shed light on how people can be in your corner but as soon as the road gets a little bumpy they are passing judgement and turning their backs on you.. Confession of a First Lady was well written and it depicts everyday life and the things people go thru.

Part one of three. Not bad. The first book I've read by this author.

This is what happens when the First Lady of Clover Hill Baptist Church sees her past come back to haunt her. A person can change their ways and change their lives with the help of God, but the world refuses to forget.

In the words of the First Lady: "Shame was a powerful demon. It made you feel like everyone was looking at you and judging you and your situation when in reality, half of those people we thought knew our faults really didn't know or even care. But shame will make us feel that way, and that's how that other demon called Depression would creep in."(an excerpt from the book)

A good read and I can't wait to read Part 2.

This was my first read by author, Denora M. Boone. I am excited that I have. The book is absolutely revitting. From the first chapters, Denora clearly detailed the ins and outs of Veronica and her story. That poor soul. She has been on the ruff side of the mountain and then some. Denora told the story effortlessly from character to character. I screamed, shouted and absolutely enjoyed the read. Marcus has his work cut out fro him. I am team Marcus all the way. Outstanding.

Good read.

Wow, what an ending.... can't wait to read the next book. I like that the first lady is real and comments on how "she's not made it to the pearly gates" when she was ready to throw down and fight. Being saved doesn't mean you don't fight....you're just made aware of who you're fighting! Lol

Church Folks

Marcus & Veronica really needed to confess there sins to each other also. Iesha should of really moved on if she didn't want you somebody else did. Marcus you sleeping with church members... Patrick the detective needs to be locked for the staff he has done. MJ and Lay hopefully they will be better parents then his

This book was ok but it started off a lol slow to me, Veronica is married to a pastor who loves her mind body and soul! She loves him the same, until her past comes back to haunt her, through it all her husband remain loyal to her or so I thought. I Can't get mad at him, he a human too lol!! A book that I couldn't stop reading. Loved it! So many people are judged for their past when they have been forgiven by the man above. That's what matters. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes.

True!

Great book! I was smh as the plot thickened. The things that unfolded are things that actually do happen in churches and it's sad. Iesha has it bad for veronica. I hope her husband stays by her side. But I ready to read part 2 to see what iesha has on the pastor.

I am so glad I didn't put this book down like I started to. I admit the beginning was boring, but it got better as the pages turned. Iesha is a woman who is out for revenge.

Slow at first but it gets better

This book started out slow. They are some parts that I feel was drawn out. As secrets are being exposed, the book gets better. It holds your attention by making you wonder what is going to happen next.

I'm not a big fan of first person narrative anyway, and this author handles it badly, in my opinion. I'm half way through and nothing of interest has happened. The other reviewers convinced me it was a good read. I'm sorry to say that I can't finish it.

Disappointing read

I found myself skimming through a lot of the chapters because it was so drawn out. Plots and secrets were very predictable. Once they were revealed in the story they were unexciting to read. Definitely not a page turner.
