Derek kisses Stiles in an 'I thought you were dying' heat of the moment.

Now he wants to pretend it didn't mean anything.

Stiles is not having that.

I just love angsty Derek's POV.

It's a slow, painful surrender, and Derek resists every step of the way, because he doesn't know what else to do.

"Tell me this doesn't mean anything."

description

I really almost wish I hadn't read this one. Why? Because I need more and more and more. So good. There is so much story here in such a short amount of pages.

The person you are waiting for is waiting for you.
Derek kisses Stiles for the first time, because he thinks that Stiles is dying. Cute and short.

Great Sterek where Stiles cracks open Derek. Loved the understatement.

Derek's life has been dominated by one bad choice after another, and he's a pretty shitty judge of people, so it's not really a surprise just how much he's managed to underestimate Stiles.

"The person you are waiting for is waiting for you."

"Sometimes Derek hates how fucking persistent Stiles is, and other times he's worried that he'll give up on him."

Well that was unexpected.

Derek POV. Goodness but I love a Derek POV.

I feel kind of sad and kind of hopeful.

AU of this Jinx Removing also available.

Derek's inability to take that next step is also just as strong as his inability to walk away.

All the emotional baggage that he carries is in full force here.

But Stiles is pissed and you can't really blame him.

He's holding him accountable and won't let him hide or run.

Totally intense, frustratingly too short, but absolutely worth it.

OMG. Why isn't there more???
I always seem to torture myself with these tiny fics that are so good but way too short. I doubt I'll stop, though because really awesome Sterek is worth it. And these short fics are so easy to read.

DevilDoll knows how to write intensly emotional stories in twenty pages or less, and this is no exception. Derek is slowly being drawn from his emotional wasteland by Stiles, who sees deeper into Derek than anyone else and refuse to be fooled by his bullshit. That this fic is hotter than the sun also helps!

Sterek fanfic.
2.5 maybe

Stiles seemed almost to controlling in his pursuit without any of his quirkiness on page.
Derek came across strong but vulnerable.

It's short there's a good air of melancholy about it, wanted a bit more of the story around the snapshots though. Hard to rate.

Derek thinks Stiles is dying, so he kisses him - thinking giving into his attraction at this point won't have any follow-up. Stiles survives and remembers the kiss, vividly. Derek is very resistant to a relationship with Stiles, due to age and Derek's past blunders in the relationship sector, but Stiles is persistent and Derek gives in to a physical relationship, but says it doesn't mean anything more. Stiles is persistent to call lie out as well.

Stiles actually came off a little annoying in his diligent pressure on Derek and Derek came off as a little too resistant. But an easy pleasant read overall with some sexiness.

For such a short little fic, this sure did pack a punch. I found myself re-reading the final page over and over. I'm not quite sure what it was I liked about it, but I know I was left wanting more. The whole "Tell me this doesn't mean anything" line, and the response it ultimately gained, was simply perfect. *sigh*

A solid 3.5 stars rounded up.

We don't get enough fictions from Derek's point of view.

One of the things I love most about Sterek is how they balance each other out, how Derek never speaking and Stiles never stopping speaking ends with them understanding each other perfectly.

And this was such a lovely example of just that. Stiles speaks Derek so well and it's just beautiful.

Some Favorite Quotes:
Derek has this weird feeling they've somehow swapped places. Usually he's the one standing around staring and being unreasonable.

Stiles seems so harmless most of the time, if you're not paying attention.

Sometimes Derek hates how fucking persistent Stiles is, and other times he's worried that he'll give up on him.

Re-read May26, 2015.

This story has the same melancholic hopeless feel to it that Won't Do Me No Good Washing in the River has. Derek's self-loathing and inability to believe that he can ever have anything he wants comes across very clearly. Fortunately for my aching chest Derek is wrong. Thanks for saving the day, Stiles. Best read in conjunction with Jinx Removing.

Oh, wow. This is what I love about Sterek: Emotions, intelligence, and sweet, snarky Stiles.

This fic is short and to the point. Highly recommended!
"...it seems impossible that he's the same Stiles who can, just with his hands and his voice, drag words out of Derek that he never thought he'd say, and then fall asleep nestled against his side like a kitten while Derek stares at the ceiling and tries not to think about how terrified he is."

3.5 stars I find it difficult to rate these really short fics but it was quite good for the handful of pages that were there.

Give Jinx Removing a try too, which is the alternate version of this story (although I don't really think you need to have read this one, as it could probably just be a stand-alone short fic/scene).

This was a good story. This is a Sterek fanfiction story. For those of you that don't know...Sterek fanfic is based off 2 male characters, Stiles and Derek, from the TV show Teen Wolf. In the show they're both heterosexual but some viewers have fantasized about them together in a m/m relationship and thus Sterek was born. This story is vaguely based around the show during the summer after Stiles graduates from high school.

Stiles and Derek share a kiss when Stiles is gravely injured. When Stiles is healed Derek tries to act like it didn't mean anything. Stiles won't back down and he and Derek end up in a sexual relationship but trying to deny something deeper between them. This doesn't last and the story ends just as the denial does.

This was an enjoyable short. I liked it but I do wish there had been a bit more to it. I've heard that Jinx Removing is supposed to be an extended version of a bedroom scene from this book but I don't see it. They seem like completely different short stories to me.

* note - I listened to the podcast of this story. The narrator did a good job.
