Celine Jeanjean is French, grew up in the UK and now she travels the world as a nomadic writer. That makes her a tad confused about where she is from. During her travels she's watched the sun rise over Angkor Wat, lost her shoes in Vietnam, and fallen off a bamboo raft in China.
Celine writes stories that feature quirky characters and misfits, set in wondrous worlds.
4.5 stars Funny fast paced story with some serious undertones, about a group of misfit characters who really shouldn't belong together according to how their world works but they sooo do! I think I loved them all. I really enjoyed reading this book a lot and there were plenty 5 star moments in here for me, the story had tons of potential.. actually the world has tons of potential. I guess I took off half a star because I felt like I needed a bit more?.. like more on what happens next with Bellatrix, and is someone going to do something about that fort and the stuff that goes on there (I mean other than what hapens in the story) and basically I want to see more of the group of family/found family together as well. The end was enjoyable and satisfying but also there's still a lot of questions for me and I've always been a "what happens next?" girl. This could be the start of a series and I really hope it is, then I'll probably come back and change it to 5 stars. A cosy fantasy where nothing is as it seems and that makes me laugh out loud at the most unexpected times? yes please!
