Ghosts is the first in a series of three short stories revolving around Vance Davis, a fan-favorite from Heather Huffman's Throwaway, Suddenly a Spy, and Devil in Disguise.
Vance Davis is a haunted man. The ghosts of his past are never far away and rarely silent; no matter where he goes or what he does, he can still feel the icy grip of their condemnation. But hope is never truly lost.
As Vance reunites with his dear friend and co-worker, Jessie, he find himself once again pulled into the world of human trafficking, caught in a battle between his heart and his mind, with more than just himself at stake. As the memory of his lost love, Harmony, continues to torment him, he is consumed by a new mission: to rescue a foster child who’s gone missing. But doing so will require the help of some old friends he might not be ready to face.
Adventure and emotion collide in this story about overcoming the past to forge a better future.
Heather Huffman is a multi-genre author with publications in contemporary romance, romantic suspense, women's fiction, and even a new cozy mystery line launching summer 2021. Quirky, optimistic, and a bit of a wanderer, Huffman cares deeply about causes pertaining to social justice and women's issues and has spent the past decade working with various charities that fight poverty, empower women, and fight human trafficking. At the center of her world are her three grown sons, her Australian Shepherd, and a spoiled puppy she shares entirely too many pictures of. Learn more at heatherhuffman.com.
I sat down to read Ghosts, and looked up when I hit the end going wait, no, not yet. I did received an advanced copy, but have also purchased a finalized copy. Reading through both times was a wonderful book-worm loving moment.
Vance has been a fascinating character from the moment he is introduced in Throwaway, and you find yourself more drawn to him in Suddenly a Spy and Devil in Disguise. There is a feeling of mystery behind him, you learn a bit what drives him, but Heather Huffman's writing brings his character to life so vividly in this book.
If you've read her other works, especially anything with Vance, this is a simple "MUST READ" piece.
If you're new to her work I would suggested reading Throwaway, Suddenly a Spy and Devil in Disguise before starting this simply because it will put the story into perspective. I would then say, check out everything she's put out, find a comfy spot and read it all. I've yet to be let down.
I loved this book. I have loved Vance g or awhile now and it is so good t o catch up with him. Heather is an awesome author and has the unique ability to pull you into the story and make you part of it.
I have read all of Heathers books several times and this book twice. I am sure I will read it again many times. You must read this book.
