Picking up where book 2 left off, I was immediately plummeted into the dark depths of Kaitlyn's despair. I soo wanted the "old" Derek to come back and beat the hell out of the douchebag that moved into his body for the entirety of book 2. Unfortunately, the douchebag lives on, making his presence known right from the start of book 3.

Ryan, on the other hand, continues to be a sweetheart. He swiftly comes to Kaitlyn's rescue, offering a reprieve from the emotional turmoil Derek has created. While Ryan and Kaitlyn continue to grow closer, Derek spirals out of control. It seems that the sweet, fun, sexy, guy from book 1 may have just been a dream. In his place is a manipulative, abusive, self-absorbed psycho.

I completely loved Ryan. He loved and supported Kaitlyn unconditionally. I can't help but feel like he got the short-end of the stick when it came to his relationship with Kaitlyn. Although, I did love that he got his chance to show-up Derek with his superhuman sexual talents.

I don't want to give away the ending, so I'll just say that the dynamics change completely. The ending was shocking, unusual, and AWKWARD! Seriously, I did not see this ending coming! I was kind of like, "Whoa! Back the hell up!" I'm still trying to digest those events. I'm not at all happy with the ending, HEA or not. It definitely wasn't the HEA I wanted.

To clarify, the first 3/4 of the book I loved. It was emotional and I was utterly consumed by the story. That part was 5-star worthy. I ended up averaging my rating to a 3 because the ending was not satisfying for me at all and I really started to dislike Kaitlyn. I thought her actions were selfish and callous. Honestly, she made douchebag Derek look okay in comparison!

So I ah hell, I just hate the shite out of this book. Rock Me Hard was okay in fact I loved it. Derek was so sweet, but my experience with this series went downhill in Rock All Night.

What threw me off was the total 360 change of a character (Derek) without adequate back story as to why his attitude was so shitty. And.....then you have the best-friend (Ryan) who disregard all "bro code", I just couldn't like the dude. I'm a girl and even I know that he was being shady no matter how sweet the author portrayed him, once your bro introduce you to his girl put her in the goddamn sister box, and let her stay there.

Derek I don’t even know how to feel about him, I'm confused he was sweet in one book and a total dog in another.
A sinner (Derek) vs. saint (Ryan) story I could not buy, that was total bullshit. One guy does no right and one does no wrong...total and epic BS!!!

Hard As Rock.........I hate the living shit out of this book, frankly I wasted my $4.99. I should have bought a copy of Filthy Beautiful Love by Kendall Ryan instead. I read 30% then went on to suffer through another 10% then eventually skip to the back to find out how the mess all ended, suffice to say I was none too please...I mean like really Ms. Thorne.

Kaitlin I hate!! She was the definition of fickle. She is now at #1 on my list of most hated book heroines, which I might add was none existent until this god forsaken book.
So all in all I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER, and I’m JAMAICAN not a lot faze me so you can only imagine.

This book for me was an epic fail, but this is just my opinion!!

Still got a soft spot for DEREK though, can’t really help it!!

I waited for this book for so long because I love this author's work, but I have to say that I absolutely HATED the ending. Just weirded me out. In my opinion, the scorpian referenced throughout the story was really Kaitlin. Derek was my favorite character.

This series focuses on unhealthy and abusive relationships.

This series fell apart after the first book. I understand the author had some major health issues that interrupted her writing, and unfortunately it looks like that derailed her process. The characters were decently established in the first book, which was a tribute to torch songs. Sweet and poignant, it should have ended as a cautionary coming-of-age tale. Instead it carried into the present day, following a character who hadn't grown or changed despite all the events of the first book or, indeed, since.

This MC is time-locked at some point in college and stays that way through the second and third books. Despite the events that proceed, at no point does she have a moment of true self-awareness, instead regressing inward where she falls into a well of hopeless, helpless narcissism. Nothing she does is motivated by anything other than the desire to indulge her wishes, feelings or fantasies. The characters around her thin out to cardboard cut-outs, with between two and four personality traits apiece; unhappy participants in her central psychodrama.

The initial love interest loses any depth or humanity he had in the first book and turns, sickeningly, into a perfect nightmare: beautiful, talented, narcissistic, controlling, manipulative, powerful and insane. *This* is what we're supposed to believe is a love worth fighting for. The entire relationship is sick, making the setting irrelevant. The third book drags another one-trick pony into the mix, the MC shamelessly using him to make herself do something: feel love, get over the first guy, whatever. At this point, does it really matter?

The triangle then tears up the entire story landscape with the outlying characters just suffering through it. One sympathizes. This is not erotic fiction. This is a psych evaluation of people who would be featured on a forensic crime drama. The two males are programmed to "love" this worthless character, and that is their only motivation for every action they take and word they speak. The worst, the WORST part of this is that Kaitlyn never once thinks of anyone but herself, and never, until the very last few chapters, considers walking away to salvage the work of others or their happiness or well-being. Even when she does it is still completely self-serving.

It doesn't matter that she's always torn up about what's going on. It doesn't matter that she feels guilty about everything she does. What matters is that she continues to act in a manner that harms those around her, and does nothing to stop it because of her craven selfishness. If you met someone like this in real life it wouldn't take you long to feel uneasy around her, as her internal ambivalence and innately selfish nature poison all her relationships. But near the end of the books she comes up with an idea to fix everything.

The solution? I want it both ways or I'll hurt you both by leaving.

There has to be some kind of award for characters this awful, for reading through lives this terrible. I shouldn't feel lessened by reading, and I was with this story. These are truly awful people, destroying anything around them simply to indulge their sense of entitlement. This story romanticizes abuse, even if the MC finally gets that what the first guy is doing - stalking her, sexually harassing her, etc - and says no. She continually excuses and makes excuses for his inexcusable behaviour. And in the end, realizing that she doesn't want to lose this person because he "turns me on" evolves from her just being stupid to winning the "who's the most awful person?" prize.

Kaitlyn is feckless, unreasonable, selfish, and immature. Derek is an incurable psychopath. Ryan is weak and gullible, throwing away any worth he had as a person in pursuit of a dream that wasn't fulfilled years ago in fantasy. These characters are not to be envied, cherished or emulated. And having the characters morph from bitter enemies into a polyamorous relationship in the space of a few pages is jarring, illogical and creepy.

This isn't erotic fiction. This is a social crime with x-rated scenes in it.

I can't even say how motherfuckingg disappointed I am! I looooved the first two so much, so much. I've been waiting so long for it to come out. I gave the other two books 5 star ratings and I was so angsty reading this, I was internally begging her to make the right choice. Then the ending? That is such bullshit. I have never ever been so pissed off after finishing a book. The ending was absolutely stupid. Like seriously be realistic, that's just dumb. I cannot believe one of my favorite series ended like this. How terrible.

SERIOUSLY!?! She gets both!?!?! One minute the guys are like, "No I love you..you need to be with me. You need to choose one of us."...then they talk in a room for 20 minutes and all the sudden are like, "Ok I love you enough to share and have sex with you while my best friend is watching."--What the shit!?!

SOOO pissed off how it ended. She should've ended up with one or the other. Loved the first book and LOOVED Derek. He made me mad in the next book and seriously, always gotta put a nice guy in there to make us feel bad for him and know she should choose him...when we all want her with the bad boy. Just made me angry that she was all cocky at the end like, "They are faithful to me and I love them both."...but they have to be faithful to her and not get with anyone else while she has her cake and gets to eat it too!!!---selfish brat! Ughhh annoyed #firstbookwasthebest #thirdbookihated #unrealisticending #neverreadinganotherbookfromthisauthor

That ending was a big pile of shit!!! I'm sorry I hate to crap on someone's work but that was just a god damn cop out!! Derek was just a loser I'm sorry for those that like him but what was with all this "Ryan doesn't love you he said he would let you go if you wanted him to he wouldn't fight for you". Ok that's called respect which Derek has none of!!
And Kaitlyn, God I don't think I have ever hated a lead female more. She is an absolute bitch!! Literally made me sick I just wanted to climb in the book and slap her, then slap the boys for being interested in her.
Ryan he was a sweetheart and usually I would really like his character but in this book he was just too much of a pushover, he just came across so weak and spineless. I don't mean the not fighting for Kaitlyn, I mean the fact that he never once pulled her up on how selfish she was being. I'm sorry but if he is such a nice person why on earth would he want to be with someone as horrible as her.
Honestly if I could have give this 0 stars I would, Kaitlyn was vile and the ending was shite!!

I despised everything about this book from the moment she left New York. I can't think which character I hated more..........all of them.....except killian. What a waste of my £2.99. The ending had to possibly be the worst ending I've ever read. It is like this book was written by someone else as I liked the other two.

I couldn't wait for this book to come out to see how Derek was going to talk himself out of the mess he made at the end of book 2. What I didn't expect was how much I would hate Kaitlyn by the end of this book.

The series was a good read, not great. Sometimes the characters were a bit weak and to be honest the only one I really like was Ryan. Derek was hard to connect(not the bad boy I would prefer) with and Kaitlyn was not a strong female heroine. Did like her roommate Shanna though..

Hard as rock

Ok, this one was interesting. First of all, I will go without too much cursing, It's a killer for me. Second Kaitlyn drove me crazy, not just one but a lot of times! The drama! And third, maybe the end makes sense in this day and age but I don't know if I like It. Maybe Because I am an old fashion only one guy kind of girl. Just saying :)

What???

I was so loving this story until the writer appears to get lazy and really not end this at all. I mean, REALLY???? I waited months for that? So very disappointed. I think this was rushed at the end, that is the only excuse I come up with to have such a stupid ending.

You know what I want to happen? I want Kaitlyn to get a job, stop having sex for five minutes, and take a week for herself.

Quit at 90% and yeah, what a fucking bitch.

Bigger and bolder...

Finishing up the trilogy finds Kaitlyn dealing with Derek's cheating, but with heartbreak and betrayal, there is a white knight in Ryan. He rescues her, bringing solace, comfort, and love. Derek isn't going away quietly, and his obsession may be the undoing of Kaitlin, Ryan, and even the band.

Will Kaitlyn become the Yoko Onto that breaks up the band? Will she ever make a choice between the two men she loves? Can there be a happily ever after for Kaitlyn? For Derek? For Ryan?

Lots of graphic language and sexual situations as well as some drinking and drug use so be forewarned; however, if the previous two books have been read, then a reader probably is already aware of this. The ending was also a bit disappointing, too.

I guess many people shared the same view as me on this book.

For the first two books I was on like "meh". But I am curious as to who Kaithlyn would be with. Would she finally forgive Derek or would she leave for someone else.

Upon reading the last book, I don't even know why I picked it up. I should just left it as how it ends in book 2.

Book 3 is a great disappointment, it's like the author love the characters so much that she don't bear to kill them. And the heroine, is weak as hell. What the hell is wrong with her? She's plain disgusting. Having the best of both world? And the guys? Don't get me started on them.... They are also damn stupid.

My biggest issue with this series is that Kaitlyn lost every redeeming quality after book 1. She went from a star student with smart comebacks to a struggling writer without enough ambition to then just be... a let down and a moocher. I just don't see why either guy loved her so much. But once I let that go it was a quick, engaging read. And I have to give Thorne credit for sticking to her publish date. Seems like not many do that these days and its SO frustrating!!

That has got to be the most ridiculous ending I have ever read. I didn't know I was reading a contemporary romance to a ménage kind of romance. The first book started out promising, the second not so good, and this last one.......ugh.......I kind of wish I had not started the series, at least then I won't have to bother about finishing this final book.

P.S. ALL the characters in this entire series are bipolar......at least they seem like it from their drama f***ed with my mind.

I have never rated a book online before but this one prompted me to sign up and review it. I read the 3 books in this series over the course of about 5 days. I got the first one for free on Amazon and really wanted to see where the story went so I bought the second one. I really liked the first and was on the fence about the 2nd but I wanted to see where it went in the end so I shelled out the money for he 3rd. I wish I hadn't.

Spoilers ahead!
SPOILER WARNING
SPOILER WARNING

Kaitlyn came across as selfish and fickle. It read as if she was with poor Ryan as a way to feel better about herself. She was portrayed a few times as seeing herself as quite the stunner so I guess part of the character development, in the mind of the author, was to make her feel entitled? The relationship with Ryan felt contrived. The total disintegration of Derek was about the only thing that was even partially fleshed out. The storyline with Riley (who I found to be a really interesting character) was half-assed because we are put in a place where we are waiting for some big reveal about why she acts the way she does and is being "secretive" when it all turns out to be that she thinks of the band as her family and doesn't want it to break up.

But the ending? That was the worst part for me. Totally unrealistic and there was no way, if you followed the characters at all, especially in this installment, that this would happen. I was hoping at the end when Kaitlyn gave them the ultimatum that they would reject it and she would leave them both to mend heir friendship and she would move on to find herself and her writing career. The threesome? Seriously? There was no way that those characters, as written up til that point, would have agreed to that. And it made Kaitlyn look like the selfish entitled little girl that she was.

This book was a total disappointment for me

Not sure what to do with that ending...all I can say is if you're gonna go there, GO THERE!!! don't half ass it and make it credible. but I digress...

for 3/4 of the book the happy happy, joy joy - good guys are boring carp...I was just kept waiting for that train wreck about to happen....And waiting, and waiting, and waiting ...knowing that it is about happen yet delayed again and again...then it happens and the trains jump tracks and miss each other at the last second... ahh...Come on!!!

But then, that Derek we fell in love with in book 1 reappears...for just a second and it was awesome. But then, without giving anything away, the ending...ugh.. fell short of reaching climax. How disappointing.

still got into the story though...although was just hoping for the train wreck. I SO wanted that train wreck!!! Never happened ahhh!! But...still held on for those few fleeting moments at the studio. that's what I waited for...it delivered albeit short...And then let me down. brutal. if you're gonna go there, GO there!

Whew that ending. It's not that I'm against threesomes or anything, but I just don't agree how the author makes it the ending and makes them all fine and dandy after everything. It was like:
Kaitlyn: It's either I leave you guys or I get both of you.
Derek & Ryan: What?!!!!
Kaitlyn: *walks away*
Derek & Ryan: Wait! We agree to make this work. Let's start a threesome.
Kaitlyn: Oh no no. I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about emotional three way relationship. (How does that work anyway?) Hmmm, oh wait. You're both monsters in bed and I'm soooo horny so let's go!

And they all live happily ever after. Not.

Hmmm. Not sure about this one. The second book had closed on a pretty harsh cliffhanger, I couldn't wait to get reading to see what happened but now I've finished this one it feels like the ending was a cop out.

The band continued to charm me but Kaitlyn wow, by the end of this book there was nothing to redeem her. The series started off so well but by the end of this book I couldn't help but feel disappointed with the odd conclusion.

This is so hard to write because I was expecting this book to finally give us Kaitlyn's emotional revelation and closure with Ryan or Derek. The book was absorbing for 90% of the time until the end. It was just a strange ending. I just didn't know what to make of it but I'm still a fan of Olivia Thorne's writing. BTW, the book is called Hard as Rock.
