I believe, sometimes, very powerful people do bad things in secret. I also believe good people try to stop them. My novels are about these battles.

Having defected to the US during the Cold War, the four ex-KGB agents have grown too comfortable living out the American Dream. They're now the stereotypical lazy, fat Americans whose only goal in life is getting as much enjoyment as possible from all the things ordinary, like marriage, kids, suburbia . . .

Their past betrayal of their KGB brethren is all but forgotten until the day the past catches up to them in the form of a ruthless KGB officer whose only goal in life is killing the defectors and their families.

Throw in the US federal agents who try to stop this massacre from taking place on their turf, and you've got yourself a fast-paced, action-packed US vs Russia thriller of unfathomable fascination.

[May contain spoilers]

Pros:
- Suspense . . . suspense, suspense, and more suspense, and most importantly, suspense done right. No fake-outs and no artificial cliff-hangers.
- Simplicity of it all. There's one plotline, and that is whether or not the defectors are going to survive their maniacal former comrade. No forced subplots or unintelligent attempts at creating unnecessary mystery around the main plot.

Cons:
- Some scenes that were just . . . gruesome. Some of these torture, etc. details seemed pointless and overloaded. Not a huge fan of [over]using torture in [literary] places where it can be avoided or replaced with a better, more creative ways of moving the plot forward or using as a character development technique.
- The antagonist. Oh, come the f**k on! Does the antagonist have to be such a stereotypical SOB?!

Bottom Line:
A fast-paced, simple, no-nonsense US vs Russia thriller that will keep you wondering until the very last page: Will the defectors live or die?

Seventeen years ago, a team of 9 elite KGB agents entered a building. After an unexpected explosion all were presumed dead.

Flash forward to today where we find a handful of the survivors living anonymous lives after defecting to America. Having adopted new names, lives and histories all over the United States, life seems to be going well. What they do not realize, is that there were other surviving members of the blast that day. Aided by an unlikely benefactor, their surviving comrades are in America and itching for retribution.

Assassins encompasses a roller coaster week from Florida to California and all points in between as the surviving KGB agent and accomplices attempt track down and mete out justice to their traitor comrades. Nowhere is safe as the ‘traitors’ are located, confronted and eliminated. One survivor, now known as “Mike” with the help the FBI sets out to find and stop the assassins before they are successful in exacting their revenge. What started as a covert mission of personal retribution turns into a game of “Spy v. Spy” with the potential to reignite the Cold War.

For anyone who likes suspense this is definitely a must read. The battling former teammates adds an additional layer of violence to the mix. This isn’t business, it’s personal, but because it’s personal the question arises; how do you torture someone who knows all of your tricks? There were definitely a few moments that had me squirming in my seat as the former team mates collide. Overall a good, fast paced story.

This author did research

I have to admit thrillers are not a genre I normally read but I found the blurb of this book so interesting that I thought I would take the chance.

And I was glad I did. The book was gripping and felt so real to life that I couldn't put it down. The one thing that annoys me about an author is when they don't do their research and their facts are not believable but this author did and it tells. If your looking for a thriller that will grip you this one is for you.
