I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.

I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!

I couldn't finish this. I really really disliked the female character. I stopped reading when the day after the ceremony began. It felt like she was trying to shame him into having sex with her. That, to me, is tantamount to sexual assault. Shame, cos I liked him.

31/03/21 I am on re-read of this series... but am glad that I saw the above before I started... I won't start this one again.

I loved this series. The stories are interesting. There's more story than sex, but the sex is hot. There's a lot of action and drama. Each story is different and they're not cookie cutter. There is an overall arc. And the series doesn't go on forever though I would have liked a little more.

I love that anything goes when reading sci fi and that is what Tana gives readers. The Barbarians of the Sand Planet and is a steamy sci fi romance series as are her other series. This books sees an all female bounty hunter team travelling across galaxies but put out of action by another group. Crash landing on a planet that is nothing but sand for miles and miles. I really like Tana's writing and her characters are totally believable. There is fun, action and so much more between the pages.
If you are a lover of sci fi with sexy aliens and hot romance you will love Tana's work

I do not care for slutty men or women.. Therefore, I had a very hard time liking Holly. She was waaaaay to quick to sleep with strangers right away. I can understand scratching an itch every once awhile, especially when living on ship and unable to commit. But, she was too slutty and proud of it for my taste. She admitted to meeting men, screwing them right away, and then sneaking out b4 the guy woke up. If the roles were reversed, the guy would be disliked as being a man whore who led women on. She just seemed too self absorbed and shallow.

She purposely tried to seduce T'kar- knowing he wanted more that just a one night stand. It was pathetic how she kept throwing herself at him and when he would reject her, she would call him names and be nasty. Then, he risks everything to help her escape and she acts haughty, entitled, and complained about everything. I was tempted to just skim book 30% in but it got better.

T'kar confused me. He didn't want a woman of his own alien race bcuz they slept around and wouldn't commit. Yet, he thought Holly was different even though he knew she did the EXACT same thing?!? He was also a kind of weak character. His dad and Holly pushed him around and he ran away from home- leaving the other separatists who helped save him to fend for themselves. It was wrong that he slept with Holly- knowing she was unaware of her birth control being removed and she didn't want to be attached to him. This was never addressed.. Tsk. Tsk...But, he also got more likable as book went on.

Side note: Why hasn't K'alvek challenged the leader of the tribe yet? The guy is an obvious jerk who is shady, weak, and is disrespectful to his mother. Why let his mom continue to be married to a man they both despise? A man who lusts after other women openly. A man who tried to cheat and kill T'kar? Why doesn't K'alvek and the tribe doing something? Is the author saving his death for the series finale?

Overall, ok read. I am invested in the characters and story so will continue the series

I’ll be honest...I did not like Holly. Not at all .... but I loved T’kar which made up for it. Her mind needed to get out of the gutter and into the game. The situation was serious and she had a one-track mind and that’s it. She’d be her own best customer if she were a Madam.

Holly...was just not it. I understand when she is unashamed of her sexuality and she prefers casual sex over relationships. However, she practically shames her guy when he refuses to have sex with her because it wouldn't be casual for him. He wants more and he wouldn't be able to keep it "fun and easy" like she wants. So instead she teases him and tries to get him into it? Like there are parts where he is so frustrated because she keeps playing with him and not listening. Then he gives in, thinking, I'll just do what she wants until she wants more from me back? Sad.

That happened in the beginning and after that I just felt meh towards Holly. T'kar was nice, except he didn't tell her that her implant was taken out and they are bumping uglies every chance they get. So that'll be a fun suprise.

I'm kind of excited for the next book though. Caro has been in the background and her personality, from what I can remember, isn't crazy scary like Danica or Tori and isn't selfish like Holly's, so we'll see. She just got kidnapped by an exiled Dothvek and I love that rough, wild man trope.

Wonderful and engaging PNR series - Highly recommend

DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE PREVIOUS STORIES... OR THERE WILL BE SPOILERS

LAST CHANCE ....

This story is not a stand-alone story, it is part of a series about a group of female bounty hunters that are knocked out by another corrupt bounty hunter named Mourad, who sabotages their ship. After they crash, they wake up on an alien planet covered in golden sands with golden warriors who call themselves Dothveks and another relative group that live in a city by the mountains who call themselves Cresteks.

Each story focuses on a couple and how they find their way to their HFN. There are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc. Each story begins where the previous one stopped, so even with a recap woven into the story, I highly recommend they be read in series order.

This one is about Holly, the crew’s engineer who loves to dress in colorful clothes, and T’Kar, the Crestek’s Chancellor’s son and intended heir of the Crestek city. Holly volunteered to marry T’Kar and return to the city so Max could leave and be with her mate without starting a war (end of book #2). She knew that her crew would come for her, but no one including T’Kar, expected his father to hurry up with their bonding / marriage ceremony.

T’Kar has no desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and has been part of the resistance movement for years. He has even managed to regain some of the empathic abilities his people stopped having after they developed their city. He needs to make sure Holly is safe and wants to get her back to the desert. Unfortunately before they know what is happening, Holly is being bundled off to “be prepared” for the ceremony. Several hours later his father coerced / pressured them to complete the bonding ceremony.

Now what? Holly is clear about her desire to not take a mate / husband ... T’Kar wants her but he also wants to get them both out of the city, but now that they have completed the ceremony, can he still get away?

I am going to stop here so I don’t accidentally provide any spoilers.

Holly offers to marry T'Kar so that her friend Max can be with her mate. She doesn't think it's a big deal since she plans to sneak away or have her friends break her out. What she doesn't expect is for T'Kar's father to marry them almost immediately. Forced into the marriage, they learn about each other and try to find a way to both get what they want.

I liked Holly and T'Kar. Holly is comfortable in who she is. She doesn't like to be stereotyped so she defies what others may think of her. She says what she thinks and isn't bothered when others are offended. T'Kar is doesn't want to live the life his father has planned for him. He wants to leave the city and live a simpler life where he's not constantly on guard. There's a bond between the two of them, neither want to open up and trust the other but they end up having to rely on each other and it brings them closer together.

I will say there are a few strings left dangling at the end of the book. I'm sure some if not all of these issues will be addressed in later books but at least 2 of them should have been addressed in this one.

Overall I did enjoy this book. It was a fun ride that was unpredictable and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Tribute is the fourth book in the Barbarians of the Sand Planet series. I like the stories, but all of them are kind of the same.

I like the romance between all of the protags, they are believable. Although I did like all of the females in my own way, I identify with Holly the most. We share the same feelings about opening up to someone and being vulnerable.

I have a feeling there's more to the story between Rukken and Zatvar. I think Zatvar is going to be killed by Khal Drogo K'alvek will become the new clan leader. All of them have done so much fucking in all of the books, I'm surprised none of them is preggers yet. Oh, and raise your hand if you're tired of the big dick syndrome. I mean, how does that even work? The Dothveks basically are Yao Ming with dick for days. It doesn't matter how aroused you are... if a man is as hung as the books claim a Dothvek is hung... he can NEVER have the fast-hard-bury-himself-to-the-hilt kind of sex.

If you read one, you've read them all. I do have to admit that the first book is the weakest one. But, yeah, the same book, same big dick, same claiming the mate, same fierce-female-who-doesn't-want-to-be-claimed-but-ends-up-falling-for-the-hung-Dothvek/Crestek storyline, and what-have-you.

I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read romance...

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention about this book, is that T'Kar gave Rukken his translator, but T'Kar could still communicate with Holly afterwards???

And where, in the Goddess' name, do these Dothveks find leather pants? WHO wears leather pants on a sand planet with TWO suns? Make it make sense...

Escaping into love and danger

I loved, loved T’Kar and Holly’s star crossed lovers alien romance with a side of forced proximity. I have a soft spot for the people who are a bit uncomfortable in their skin because they don’t feel like they fit in, like T’Kar. So I love when they get swoon worthy HEAs. Holly is an engineer that works on a ship with all female bounty hunters. Their ship was forced by another bounty hunter ship to crash on a primitive planet that has not had a lot of interaction with other species. There are two main native species on the planet, Dothveks and Cresteks. They hate each other. Dothveks are more primitive but also more in tune with the planet and they are empaths. Cresteks are more technologically advanced but have lost their empathic ability. T’Kar, is a Crestek but feels like he has more in common with the Dothveks. When the bad bounty hunters return to the planet, Holly agrees to become T’Kar’s mate to save a crew mate and for assistance against the bounty hunter. While Holly is just trying to bide her time until the Dothveks and her teammates rescue her, T’Kar is more interested in leaving the Crestek city with her. Holly does not do relationships but the more time she spends with T’Kar, the more attached she becomes. To get to their HEA means dealing with both their issues and surviving the harshness of the planet first. The story includes sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, evil actors, henchmen, loyal friends, tragic back stories, fated mates, coincidences, plot twists, and laughs. I just love the sand planet guys.

Once again, this author has written a truly mesmerizing Sci-Fi alien romance that is a splendid addition to the series & is guaranteed to capture the reader’s attention until the last page is turned & I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The plot is well-paced &quite captivating with some completely unexpected situations. It has good scene descriptions & world building. The unique characters are strong-willed, likeable individuals with complex personalities & have good chemistry between them.
There is: a strong-willed young human female (Holly) prepared to do anything to save her one of her crew members (Max) & gives herself up as a tribute now she is engaged to marry some unknown Crestek alien male (T’Kar) who has been no choice but to marry this defiant female but their attitudes soon change as they become more emotionally involved with each other, Chestek aliens, Dothvek alien barbarians, a manipulative Chertek chancellor & elder (Vrokden), his son (T’Kar), Chestek separatists/resistance, humans, a dishonorable barbarian leader (Zatvar), sand scavengers, a Dothvek outcast (Rukken), friendship, loyalty, family issues, action, adventure, secrets, twists & turns, drama, intrigue, suspense, abduction, prejudges, deceit, devious plans, compromises, rebellion, protectiveness, danger, threats, surprises, ultimatums, compromises, enemies, violence, conflict, determination, contentment, some steamy scenes & a interesting conclusion that is paving the way for the next book in the series.

This novel was cleanly written and edited, with only a few typos in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was excellent, just like the previous books in this series. The desert and the fortress came to life in this novel. The characterization of the hero and heroine were both excellent, with the heroine in this case being commitment shy and the hero yearning for love and commitment. The development of the romantic relationship happened organically and believably, so that I bought into these two characters' HEA. The plot was exciting and so was the pacing, with me quickly turning pages to find pout what was going to happen next! This novel contained a medium amount of angst and very high stakes. This novel used the Mars Needs Women trope and the Fated Mates trope, just like the previous novels in this series. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship rated four stars in this novel. The plot, pacing, and world building also all rated four stars. Therefore, the combined score of this novel was four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this novel. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy alien sci-fi romances or readers who have enjoyed the previous books in this series. I will be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel.

To protect Max, Holly offers herself as tribute to the aliens, figuring she’ll fake it until an opportunity opens to escape and get away from there when her bounty hunter crew comes to rescue her. She has not even met her warrior! She will definitely not commit herself to this male. But her plan of escape was solid, nothing could go wrong. Except that T’Kar’s father insists they formalize the bond immediately to prevent trickery from the barbarians.

T’Kar is a high-born Crestek warrior who normally would choose his own female but instead is being told he has to marry the offworlder that had been held by the Dothvek barbarians. The problem is, he will not tolerate her defiance and he knows she does not want to be bonded to him. Out of honor and duty, he will go ahead and marry her. But he will not love her. With both of them being so firm in their opinion of how they will deal with the other, is there any hope of their working this relationship into something they each could want? Or will they be battling constantly until their “marriage” breaks apart?

I really enjoy this series. The story line is good, the pacing is fast and fits well with the story, and the characters are very likable. Holly’s strength and confidence, while at first annoying to her alien, is probably what he actually respected most about her. Grab your copy and see how their tempestuous courtship works out!

T’Kar and Holly 4&1\2fabulous 🌟's

I really enjoy this series as a whole and this is a great addition. T’Kar is a Crestek an enemy of the Dothveck he is a warrior that does not agree with the way his people live or the decision they make. He has long admired his Dothvek cousins and has educated himself on the old ways and has even developed his empathic abilities. He is the son of the chancellor Angela no has plans to extend this authority and rule through his son. T'Kar has other plans and has even started an underground resistance. Holly is the human engineer that crashed and was rescued by the Dothveks. She surrendered her self at the end of the last book to save Max and promised to marry a Crestek. She's confident, sexy smart and doesn't believe in love. She actually more a love them and leave them type of woman. Until she meets T'Kar he's nothing like what she expects a Crestek to be. He's tall strong gorgeous and she really likes him. Neither likes of approves of the way they've met, but both are having a very hard time denying their attraction. Together after their mating they escape the Cresteks and head across the sands towards Holly's family and the Dothvek tribe. Plenty of action follows their flight across the sands and their relationship grows and Holly finds that love is one of the greatest gifts that anyone can hope to receive. This is an excellent edition and the very end leaves you with a teaser for Caro 's story. 💖💖💖

Tribute is the fourth book in the Barbarians of the Sand Planet series by Tana Stone.
Barbarians of the Sand Planet Series by Tana Stone is a great sci-fi romance series with all the ingredients I look for to keep me captivated from beginning to end. With female bounty hunters, alien barbarian warriors, action, adventure, battles, violence, chemistry, steam, connection, fated mates vibes, missions, drama, danger, angst, emotion, menage, and more.
I love a great sci-fi romance, and when one of my Goodreads friends read the series and gave it such glowing review, I knew I had to dive in. One book led to two, and then before I knew it, I had devoured the entire series.
The Series Contains:
-Bounty (Book #1) -> K’alvek and Danica’s story.
-Captive (Book #2) -> Kush and Max’s story.
-Torment (Book #3) -> Vrax and Tori’s story.
-Tribute (Book #4) -> T’Kar and Holly’s story.
-Savage (Book #5) -> Rukken and Caro’s story.
-Claim (Book #6) -> Tommel and Bexli’s story.
-Prize (Book #7) -> Drev & Trek (Alien twins) and Caterina’s story. (Menage)
-Secret (Book #8) -> Karv and Maya’s story.
I didn’t stop here, heading back in to explore more of Ms. Stone’s stories…. So stay tuned!
Enjoy…
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Tana Stone!

Holly had switched places with Max so she can marry her alien mate. Holy thought that by changing places with Max that it would be a short time before she was rescued from the Cresteks. But she didn’t count on falling in love with T’Kar and their journey across the sands to make it to the Dothvek village.

Holly and her mate have had to face perilous danger from his village and from the dangers in the Sands, then once they had escaped from the Crestek village, they then encounter the sand scavenges where Holly is taken captive and T’Kar is shot and left to die, will they make it? Who is the man who has rescued him and what part does he play in the future of aT’Kar and his mate Holly. The story ends with the kidnapping of Caro, what has become of her? Will she be found again?

Human Holly gave herself to the Cresteks in order to save her friend and is pledged to be the mate of T'Kar the chancellor's son. Determined to play along until she can escape she feels she just needs to bide her time until the Dothvek's free her. T'Kar could have his pick of mates but he is told he must mate the flame-haired human female who stirs his desire - the problem is she defies him at every turn. He has no intention of falling for her but that might not be possible. Can they both resist each other and escape the chancellor's hold on them and their future?

I've loved this series so far but Holly was just the most obnoxious woman who I could not like - to the point it was a coin flip away if I finished this book at all. I did enjoy some of the action at times which was enjoyable and it did give me a final result that I loved. Contains explicit sexual content.

Well, at the risk of sounding like a pun-loving idiot, I can't help but exclaim that this binge-worthy series is out of this world. Yum! Every single book has been brilliant, including this one. Tribute has it all: strong, intelligent, capable women who are allowed to be real people too, hottie aliens, delicious steam, nail-biting moments, a captivating plot, etc., etc., along with underlying themes of friendship, loyalty, sacrifice, prejudice, courage, determination, family issues, rebellion, hope, and love. There are quite a few wonderful intergalactic romance adventure series out there, but Barbarians of the Sand Planet is by far my all time favorite.

I received a free copy of Tribute, but that did not affect my review.

Now; this story here - just WOW!!! Honestly I think this story might actually be the best one yet in this series of the Sand people. I am not sure I have the correct words even to describe this one. I loved it and loved it some more and some more... Sci-fi at its very very very very best. It is thrilling to say the least. It just had it all. I could not put it down until finished. Sleeping ??? not necessary until the story was finished. So fantastic five stars and if there were ten it would get the ten... Hope you like it too... I just don't want to ruin your experience by divulging what is in it as this is not the blurb...

The sands are death for those unprepared.

T'Kar is in for the time of his life. His father is the chancellor of Crestek City and has boldly stated that he will mate with Holly after a binding ceremony to produce an heir.
He wants someone to actually love him for himself and wants to return to the old ways of the Dothvek. Holly doesn't believe in marriage and only wants to return to her crew.
So they escape Crestek City and venture toward the Dothveks. The danger they encounter is immense and their lives hang in the balance.
Someone new is brought into the picture. I am excited to learn his story.
I love this story the only negative i have is that I wanted to know about Holly's past and why she hates marriage and love.

This book is another good story

This book is about the heir T’kar and Holly. It was so good because he was super patient with Holly. She offered herself to the C-group of warriors to keep the peace. However, Holly did not want a mate or a mind bond. She fought it until the end. One of my favorite parts of this book was T’kar and his conversations with the reluctant Holly. Like this one: “More?” he asked, his breath hot against her neck as he kissed her lightly. She did want more, but she also wanted that feeling to go away. The warm feeling of contentment that had bloomed in her chest made her uneasy. Read On!

This is an absolutely fantastic story. I have loved this whole series. I'm alway up for any story that Tana Stone writes. This was a page pager that has to be read in one sitting. (Sorry take out dinner). This story is intelligent, hot aliens, super capable women steam, action, adventure, friendship, hope and love. It's great that the two characters, Holly and T'Kar, really don't want to have anything to do with each other but love finds a way. As part of the all female bounty hunters, Holly agree to exchange herelf so Dr Max would be able to escape the bounty hunters who were after her for a large Bounty. Having leaving them stranded on the sand planet and when realising their mistake about Dr Max being a man not a female came back for her and blow up the Bounty Hunter Babes ship. Holly was helped to escape after being forced to marry Tkar, he helped her become reunited with the rest of the crew and they are mind mates. It didn't come without lots of adversity and now another one of the crew has been kidnapped by an outcast.

That's what I thought in the first book and what I still think! But the characters are lovely. As you might recall, Holly volunteered as tribute so that the others could get away. T'Kar is a savory dish, and she intends to enjoy him until the others can rescue her. T'Kar has other ideas, though. He wants to leave the city and join the Dothveks unless they kill him first. They escape and the adventures start!

Pretty Good Series

I continue to enjoy this series. It continues to hold my interest with its different scenarios that result in the couple's getting together in the end. I read paranormal and alien stories for the most part. I enjoy stories that have difficulties, mystery, and suspense in getting to the romance and erotic times. Similar to real life. I'll continue this series as long as it maintains the high level that has been maintained so far.
