I was so excited to hear about this book! Three sisters come together to help being a favorite scriptural allegory to life. It is beautiful and something I would love on my bookshelf to share. The illustrations are breathtaking, the calligraphy is beautiful, and it is a great way to learn about Jacob 5. While reading it, new insight came to my mind. That is a great example of how the spirit was involved in the creation of this book.

I do have to be honest, I had expected a little more from the illustrations. To many people, taking care of an olive vineyard is a foreign concept. Although the pictures showed good examples (that I could pick out because I was taught about background context in seminary), it would have been easier for children and uninformed individuals if there were smaller sketches near key words that may be confusing.

For example, "to graft" is something I had to learn about from one of my teachers. I recognize the illustration two pages after grafting is mentioned because I knew the meaning. But those who do not know, it isn't as clear as it could be. I had expected more of an illustrated teaching tool to clarify the allegory. But although it wasn't what I expected, it is still beautiful and good a teaching tool for me to share my knowledge with my daughter by pointing such details out.

(4.5 stars) This is a picture book that the entire family can enjoy! Three sisters have taken the allegory of the tame and wild olive trees found in Jacob 5 in the Book of Mormon and simplified it. They also added illustrations and the text is written in calligraphy.

While the text is simplified, it's still a bit complex for younger readers. I think it makes a great family read so the message can be explained and discussed. I absolutely love the artwork and think it does a great job adding to the message of the story.

The calligraphy is beautiful, too. There were quite a few different colors used, though, and I found that a little distracting. However, I asked my daughter what she thought and her eyes lit up and she said she loved the different colors, so that probably won't even be an issue for most people.

These sisters did a great job accomplishing what they set out to do. This book is beautiful from beginning to end and will make a great gift! This is a book that I will display and plan to read it multiple times with my family throughout the years!

I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.

I received a PDF file of this book to read and I love the artwork, the calligraphy of it. It probably is more beautiful in a book.

The Olive Tree is taken from the scriptures in the Book of Mormon Jacob:5. They have made the story come alive with the pictures. To help you understand the symbolism of the story.

I would love to have the book in my home. I would even like some of the pictures for my wall they are so beautiful.

Three sisters got together to bring this book to life, One is the writer, one a artist and one did the calligraphy of the book and together they made one beautiful book and story of The Olive Tree come alive.

This would make a great gift for anyone. Mother's Day is coming up soon.

I was given this ebook to read by Cedar Fort Publishing and in return agreed to give a honest review and be part of The Olive Tree blog tour.

Beautiful and Simple

A beautiful retelling of the allegory of the olive tree. I loved the calligraphy and illustrations that emphasized the words of the Master.

This is a beautiful book of paintings and calligraphy depicting the allegory of the olive tree from The Book of Mormon. I appreciated the loveliness, however I was expecting more interpretation from the original content. The text is word for word from the scriptures, and somewhat difficult to read in calligraphy form, especially for children. The art depicts literally what is read in the verses rather than the meaning behind the allegory. It would make a nice gift for a teenager or adult studying the Book of Mormon.

(Thank you to Cedar Fort Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)
