Informative and colorful with an elongated rhyming pattern that works most of the time.

BEES LIKE FLOWERS has a good introduction to basic science facts about bees. It’s presented in friendly artwork supporting text that uses British spelling.

After the basic poem and story are finished, there is a page of flower names and illustrations and a page of bee facts to enhance the overall science value. For a tiny book, this one is packed with information.

A good addition to family and homeschool libraries📚

Very basic book about bees, which includes some of their behaviors and contributions while encouraging readers to be nice to them such as not startling them.

The book ends with two interactive questions, which can be incorporated as you read or done afterwards.

Illustrations are full page, brightly colored and rather cartoonish as well as anthropomorphic yet sure to charm young readers.

Children will read along and learn as our happy young narrator shows readers, in a very simple and non-threatening way, that bees are worthy of a closer look. Author Rebecca Bielawski uses rhyme along with beautiful illustrations to explain the process of pollination and where bees live, and she throws in a few gentle words of caution about stings. In a supplemental section at the end, insects are defined and flowers shown in the story are identified, and there’s even an invitation to the readers to go back and find the flowers in the illustrations. Whether used as a read-aloud or for new readers to tackle alone, Bees Like Flowers is a fun and appealing teaching tool about the life of bees.

The rhyming is very well done and kudos to Bielawski for using easy simple phrases and easy to read print. There is a repeated use of “cos,” which could create some confusion since the target audience is children learning to read and it’s not a word. It sounds good when read aloud – though “‘cause” would have worked just as well -- but its use may need to be explained. The illustrations are what really put it over the top. This book is so cute that readers will want to hug it. For starters, the sweet-faced little girl narrating the story is precious and obviously precocious, and she’s not afraid to climb a tree or get her hands dirty as she tromps about nature. And NATURE! Nature is drawn so vividly and beautifully – the bees have soft, gentle expressions and are definitely represented as friends, not foes. While some of the flowers do have faces, others are drawn very realistically where children would be able to identify them in their own yards and gardens. Though the location isn’t ever told, readers will want to immerse themselves in the lovely setting of Bees Like Flowers, and this book will be read again and again.

This book was reviewed for Readers' Favorite, who provided me a free eBook in exchange for my honest review -- the only kind I give.

I absolutely loved this book! It is really adorable and after reading just this one from the series I am convinced that the “Mummy nature Series” is fantastic to say the least.

The illustrations are very suitable for a children’s book. All faces have smiles, a lot of colors are used and each object of insect is very clearly portrayed. It is definitely a great way to attract the little one’s interest and can even raise one’s spirit. I was in a very good mood while reading it. The story is told in verse and it even has its own melody. I could easily see this in a song.

These particular drawings make the story understandable and appealing telling a bee’s story to a child who’s afraid of being stung is quite challenging, but the author has done it in a very enjoyable way.

What’s more important is that it is a very educative book as well. For example, there are lessons at the end in regards to different kind of flowers and kids are encouraged to find them in the story. It is both interactive and helpful.

As with most books I receive, I have a copy in a kindle format, so I can only state my opinion in regards to the electronic version. However, I do advise to purchase the paperbacks of all the books in the series! I can tell you I am adding this to the list of titles for my future child, whenever he or he may decide to come :) 5 amazing bees and flowers for this lovely book!

Rebecca Bielawski, Bees Like Flowers - This is our first read by this author. My 3- and 5-year-old g-gdaughters were very happy with this story.

They love bees, so this well drawn, well thought out little book put big smiles on their faces. They took turns reading to each other, and buzzing and laughing a lot. The rhymes were OK and of course, my Sillies added their rhymes.

In the back, there was a page for identifying an insect and a page asking where these flowers were located in the story.

This book did encourage my critters to let their imaginations and laughter flow. 4*

This nicely illustrated book for young children gives a nice introduction to the world of science and a clever way of discovering the important roles that the bee plays in the cycle of life. It also helps us to remember that bees do not need to be feared, but they should be respected, especially for the resources they provide to us all.

Great Book About Honey Bees

I love the concept of this book. It definitely helps to teach little ones why honey bees are so important to plants and us. While the book didn't necessarily rhymed, it didn't take away from the reading experience. My son still enjoyed reading about bees and enjoyed the illustrations. This is a great book to read while learning about insects.

This is a wonderful book to introduce your young one to bees. I was very please to see they got things so right. Most cartoons and books paint all worker bees as males. This one talks about the jobs of bees and the hive and the benefit of them to both mankind and plants. Wonderful book.

Read it to them for bedtime and gave them each a teaspoon of honey. That was months ago. They are visiting again this week. They requested this book because they know it comes with a teaspoon of homey. 🥰😍🥰

Flowery

A very simplified and easy way to see pollination. Great for children just starting to learn about insects, flowers and such. Also a nice reminder that they don’t want to hurt you as the media often misconstrues, they just need flowers.

This book is a fun way to interest kids in science and get toddlers interested in nature. It also helps teach kids not to be afraid of bees, but to be careful not to scare bees so they don't get stung.
