3.5 stars.
Having enjoyed the previous book 'Mafia Boss's Fearless Lover' well apart from the abrupt ending that is I continued on with this one and again it's an enjoyable read.
Desiree is out for revenge she's searching for the killers of her father and brother and the search has led her to the Russian Mafia, her need for revenge has caused her to not only join the police force but lose all her friends as well, this leaves her totally alone and on a dangerous course.
Grigori is in Florida on a mission to find and kill the men responsible for the death of Katya's parents. When Grigori and Desi meet for the first time the attraction is instant but both are wary of the other can they get past this to realise they're on the same side.
This is a quick easy read and very light I was hoping we'd see more of the Torpedoe and why he's feared and revered but we don't and it's kept very PG, Desi is frankly lucky to be alive, she's in way over her head and meeting Grigori could very well be the only thing that saves her.
I'm going to continue on with the other two books in this series since they're both on KU and I go on holiday tomorrow so they'll make nice easy reading for the flight.

The main thing I don't like about these is that they tend to start off slow with not much going on. Then when the good stuff starts it's all rushed and recapped just so you can move on. Plus...do all Russians have the same names in the mafia's? Can we get some new names going on in these? It's bad enough the story line is sketchy but the names all being the same is a big let down.

Grigori has worked as a hitman for the Russian mafia for many years. He is the best at his job, but since seeing the love between Nik and Katya, he wants what they have. He may have found his chance when he meets Desi. But he will need to avenge the deaths of his friend's family and Desi's family as well in order to secure their future.
I loved this book and am really enjoying this series.

Easy read
I like this series but it seems very one dimension all. Very straight forward. Everything is neatly packaged. I generally like more intrigue and a few more twists to a plot.

I fell for Grigori in the first book and even more so in this one. I wish there had been more info from the characters from the previous book but there was at least a bit going on simultaneously. Good book. Excited to see what's next.

Slow
2stars boring. I expected more romance considering the title of the book. And also the Torpedo being thrown enforcer and not enforcing anything. No one seemed scared of him considering that's how he was described.
