When Power Fell in Love

Rate this book
When Power Fell in Love is a sizzling, spicy Indian political romance bursting with passionate tension, possessive alpha chemistry, and steamy intimacy, set against the backdrop of an arranged marriage for political advantage. Like your favorite Bollywood drama, it brims with intense jealousy, scandals, emotional confrontations, and a vibrant yet powerful desi family.

He ruled with ice—until she ignited his fire.

Ayaan Rathore, the ice-cold, possessive alpha heir-apparent to the Chief Minister’s throne, never intended to marry for love—politics was his life, and power his only passion. But when his political future hinges on an arranged marriage, he finds himself bound in a forced-proximity romance with the vibrant and determined fashion designer, Saanvi Malhotra, whose warmth challenges his carefully guarded heart.

Saanvi Malhotra never believed in fairy-tale love; she desired a true partnership. Instead, she’s thrust into a high-stakes arranged marriage romance filled with intense jealousy, political intrigue, and emotional angst. Determined yet vulnerable, she slowly unravels Ayaan’s cold facade, igniting an undeniable chemistry neither expected.

When scandals erupt and possessive jealousy blurs the line between them, they discover that passion can be more powerful—and dangerous—than politics. Amid threats, steamy intimacy, and family drama, Ayaan and Saanvi must confront their deepest desires or risk losing everything.

Because sometimes, the greatest power isn't winning elections—it's surrendering to an all-consuming, happily-ever-after love.

This book contains intense political drama, possessive alpha jealousy, forced proximity, passionate tension, and steamy intimacy within an arranged marriage setting. As mentioned in the blurb, the hero initially sees marriage as purely political, and the heroine must navigate emotional walls, fierce political scandals, and powerful family expectations. This is a standalone romance with a guaranteed happily-ever-after, no cheating, and plenty of spice.

A Desi arranged marriage where a political alliance turns into true love.

The story follows Ayaan Rathore — the youngest cabinet minister, known as the Ice King — and Saanvi Malhotra, a renowned fashion designer who believes "fabric speaks when words fail."

I loved the spark and romance between them and how they gradually begin to understand and protect each other.

A perfect read for anyone who loves:
✅A Desi arranged marriage romance
✅A strong FMC and an MMC
✅An charming and deliciously possessive 😏 MMC

An Intense Political Love Story❤‍🔥

"When Power Fell in Love", by Author Taashu K, is a great romance novel with an exquisite blend of love and emotions, arranged marriage, scandals, power and politics.

The plot never fails to impress with the characters of Ayaan Rathore, the ice-cold heir to the Chief Minister's throne who never intended to marry but is bound in an arranged marriage to the vibrant and determined fashion designer, Saanvi Malhotra.

The story unfolds beautifully when they fall in love igniting an Undeniable chemistry between them. Ayaan's devotion to politics and Saanvi's love for her career which she is dedicated to,is well-crafted by the Author.

The book has possessive alpha jealousy, passion, angst, and a lot of political drama. The story is well-paced with the other characters Kabir and Aadhira, the siblings of Ayaan delving into a beautiful bond with the protagonists as well as their families. The moment when Ayaan saves Saanvi from the kidnappers, the partners reunion and the two embarking on a journey together to succeed in their mission is filled with affection and is really admirable.

She is Sunshine, He is darkness. She is warm like sunrays, he is gloomy like a monsoon. She is a designer, he is a politician. they both are poles apart. Yet when they decide to have a partnership for life (marriage) with trust, honesty, support and companionship they each took a step forward towards their fate, will there ever be a place for love? will that love sustain the wrath of power, name-fame and potential threats?

This book is a bundle of warm hugs. I loved reading each and every word. I like how they developed their connection slowly yet steadily. But believe I was dreading every minute of the potential heartbreak when the love confessions came only half way into the book. And when it happened I was conflicting whether to reason with him or feel heartbroken for her.

He is the perfect fictional man, strong, rich, powerful, Alpha male who is super protective, possessive about her and could unalive anyone who dares it even see in her direction.
She is the strong, charming, bubbly, lively, confident woman we all love, who can stand up for herself or even move away from the love of her life if her value and self worth are questioned or insulted.

This story is the perfect blend of love and power. The dramatics of power, the connections of family and the genuine friendships and loyal relations in this book are top notch. I loved it so much. If you are someone who would love to read Indian political romance with suspense then I would highly suggest you read this book.

This story takes you straight into the world of politics, power games, and unexpected love. We follow Ayaan Rathore, a political candidate with a tough, cold exterior, and Saanvi Malhotra, a talented fashion designer who gets caught in an arranged marriage that feels more like a political deal than a love story. What starts as a calculated alliance slowly shifts into something real as Saanvi begins to break through Ayaan’s icy walls, one step at a time.

The book isn’t just about romance it is packed with twists like political scandals, backstabbing rivals, shocking accusations, and even danger that keeps you turning pages. But what really stood out for me was Saanvi. She’s calm yet powerful, intelligent yet kind, and handles every challenge thrown her way with pure grace. There’s a particular moment where her strength truly shines (you’ll know when you read it 👀), and honestly, that scene alone made me love her character even more.

Ayaan’s journey was another thing I liked, though I did find myself wishing he didn’t shut everyone out every time emotions got messy. Thankfully, his growth throughout the story from cold and closed-off to finally realizing what truly matters—was so satisfying to read.

Overall, this book is a perfect mix of political drama, emotional depth, and a romance that slowly burns its way into your heart. If you enjoy strong female leads and stories that balance love and high-stakes drama, this one deserves a spot on your TBR!

"When Power Fell in Love" is am amazing novel by Taashu K. A magnificent blend of politics, power, and the spice of love. And no words in the dictionary can depict the things I felt while reading. The best I have read read in this year so far.

Ayaan -The Ice King- Rathore, is the straight alpha male. Jealousy and Possessiveness are his third names.

Saanvi -My job is to bully gravity- Malhotra, is the sunshine soul with the power to bend the ice king.

The novel follows the political alliance aka arranged marriage of Ayaan and Saanvi where the strangers are tied in a sacred knot. The chief minister in line and the fashion designer, settled for friendship and trust albeit the passionate chemistry that set their world in fire. Entangled in the political traps, Ayaan and Saanvi gradually build the friendship into something deep and intense.

The disparity of Ayaan and Saanvi is clearly portrayed by the author alongside the brewing tension. It's woven skillfully, with the challenges in both personal and professional. The plot, the characters and their development, the political traps, the power, and the main ingredient, the love. Everything played it's part in the close knitted holistic world. Summing up, this novel is for everyone who likes tension, political and emotional balance with power and passion.

When power fell in love by taashu

I am recently falling in love with political based drama and love stories especially in the setting of Indian politics and boy o boy did it fed my internal caterpiller , yes and absolutely yes.
Saanvi is a character I find courageous enough to stand for herself when she needed , her dreams her desire or her self respect she is someone who respects herself as she would respect anyone in front of her , grace and elegance a perfect balance as a successful designer and heiress she proves how she can wild a charcoal as well as silk ,a stack of colour options or types of armour when time demands
Ayaan the politician, his words crispy than his shirt and the ice king of vedhan feels the politician we need in today's world , no large speeches , no false premonitions rather fair governance and people's rights .I liked the way he speaks in crispy sentences , he ain't that large speech givers in and out of his political confines and how saanvi converts him from ice to a man who starts speaking more , who explains and who listens. Throughout the book the transformation of his character from four word speaking politician to a full on confession on national news you grew rathore boy you really did
The side characters are equally admirable and and and I feel we have two more stories in store don't we miss author.

“When Power Fell in Love” by Taashu is a compelling blend of love and politics, where two powerful emotions, romance and ambition intertwine seamlessly. The story follows Ayaan Rathore, the youngest cabinet minister in state history, who is destined to become the next Chief Minister. Known for his loyalty and unwavering commitment to public service, Ayaan finds his life unexpectedly changed by an arranged marriage to Saanvi Malhotra, a renowned fashion designer.

This unlikely pairing brings a refreshing spark to Ayaan’s structured world. The chemistry between Ayaan and Saanvi builds gradually, offering readers a beautifully written slow-burn romance set against a politically charged backdrop. The contrast between Saanvi’s creative world and Ayaan’s disciplined political life adds meaningful depth to the story.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, the character development, and especially the slow yet powerful unfolding of their love story. The novel skillfully balances emotional connection with political tension, creating a satisfying and memorable read.

This was my first time reading this author, and honestly, I hadn't read anything like this before, an Indian setting plus politics? Totally new to me. Both the main characters played their parts well, but I have to admit... I'm officially a Saanvi fan. I adore her so, so, so much. The way she stood up for Ayaan every time, demanded all the love, care, and attention she truly deserved-uggghhhh, I loved her.

And yes, Ayaan was protective, but honestly, if I were in Saanvi's place... I might've just walked out =

Now, about the side characters-oh my god. I'm obsessed Whether it's Kabir, Ananya, Aadhira, or Vikram I can sense something brewing here, and trust me, I'll be first in line for Kabir's book. I LOVED him.

The only thing that threw me off a little was the writing style. Otherwise, this book was such a fun ride!

If you're in the mood for an arranged marriage story mixed with loads of politics and drama, this one is definitely worth picking up

Thank you @scriptura.pr and taashukauthor for providing me this arc always love to work with you

When Power Fell in Love by Taashu K isn’t just a love story—it’s power, politics, and passion all wrapped into one addictive ride. This was my very first political romance and let me just say... I’m OBSESSED.

Ayaan completely stole my heart—his strength, charm, and depth make him my newest book boyfriend 😭❤️ And Saanvi? I LIVE for female leads like her. Fierce, fearless, and unapologetically strong—she held her ground like a queen in every single scene.
Their chemistry was electric, the tension deliciously intense, and the emotional depth took me by surprise in the best way possible. Taashu K really delivered a unique plot with sharp dialogues, morally gray choices, and characters that leave a lasting impact.

Thank you so much @taashuk_author for the ARC—what a powerful read! 💥📚

I loved it—loved it a lot!💫 When Power Fell in Love by Taashu K. is a gripping political love story with just the right mix of romance, drama, and intensity. Ayaan, the cold and guarded heir, and Saanvi, the fierce and passionate fashion designer, are total opposites but their chemistry is undeniable. The arranged marriage setup, family dynamics, political tension, and emotional depth kept me fully invested. I especially loved the protective side of Ayaan and the way their bond evolved through every twist. The plot is fast-paced, emotional, and beautifully written. If you're into stories with angst, power games, and soul-touching romance—this one’s for you. Highly recommend it!🌟

This was something different for me, but I loved it!

A political romance that kept me on the edge of my seat and had me in tears more times than I'd like to admit. The writing style was descriptive and poetic, and had me pulled into the story from the very start.

There are two strong main characters that complement each other in the most beautiful way, and side characters that are the best support system anyone could have in their corner.

I also loved that there was a glossary with descriptions & explanations for the beautiful Indian vocabulary that was used throughout the book.

There is enough power, passion, banter, tension, spice, and drama to keep you glued to the pages!

This book was totally unexpected for me. By the title and tropes of the book you feel like you can guess what is about to happen in the book but it was like somewhere at the point I stopped thinking that this is gonna happen.

This book is about Ayaan and Saanvi the total opposite of each other yet found solace in each other. This book is a political romance story. Ayaan's only focus is on his career and his people who want to become CM and marriage for him is just for namesake. Saanvi is a designer who finds colour in everything. Her father wants her to get married to have someone in her life. So the question arises is it a marriage out of convenience?

I love this book especially the end part of the book. I mean the way Ayaan changed himself for her. I love Saanvi's character a lot, the way she was written I loved it. I love when a book has a strong FMC who does not back down and knows when to stand for herself. I love their relationship. Somewhere at the point I was slightly disconnected because of the whole politics but nonetheless I loved the book.

Overall I would recommend you to read this book. It is not only a romance book but it is filled with a plot and I am sure you are gonna love it.

I tried. I really tried to read this book but I just couldn't. Maybe it just wasn't it for me

There were too many adjectives. Literally, a page would have a min of 20. It was very detailed. So much so that it felt unnecessary.

But I must say that the author is very creative. I loved the way a few sentences were structured and it was very poetic. Has lots of potential.

I don’t know about power but I did fell in love with not only the book but the storyline, writing and each and every character of the book. I mean the way the writing makes you fall in love with the story is different and makes it another level of attractive. The way you have the literal perspective of both MCs and you are forced to understand why they did what they did is amazing.
When the person you’re going to marry has the reputation of being the Ice King, it seems impossible to expect even a spec of love in the near future. But, this story tells us that even ice melts when you show them the love and care inside our heart. The way the characters are developed throughout the story is another best thing about the book.
This is the story of Saanvi who is a fashion designer and is best at her job. She belongs to a family that loves, respects and cares about each other’s opinion and believes everyone has the right to do what they desire and reach their full potential and she being the only child is pampered a lot. Her father fixes her marriage to the next CM of Vedhan. At first, it seems like an alliance but they make it clear that their business and personal life differs completely.
Ayaan Rathore is the next CM and has the reputation of The Ice King, who don’t show his vulnerabilities to anyone not even his family and is like a protective shield around Vedhan and his loved ones. When Saanvi’s father proposes for marriage he is hesitant but believes he is going to marry someone one day then why not her as it is also benefitting for his Vedhan. He promises everything except love to Saanvi.
When they get married they get used to seeing and being around a lot, which at first intrigues Ayaan but soon he becomes habitual of her around. Will his promise and her resolve of not falling in love succeed or they will fail miserably? When fear and threat knocks the door no one can be saved by anyone.
I was so happy to receive this as an ARC and am really satisfied after completing the book. There were places I hated and cried and smiled and loved with the characters and that’s what really matters right.

⭐ 3.75/5

This was my first book by Taashu K, and let me tell you, I’m not disappointed! In fact, I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from her because I really liked her writing style.
Now coming to the plot —
The story revolves around Ayaan Rathore, son of a former CM and a current political candidate, and Saanvi Malhotra, daughter of a textile industrialist and a renowned fashion designer herself.
What starts off as an arranged marriage (or is it a high-stakes political alliance?) slowly evolves as Saanvi — calm, composed, and smart — begins breaking down the Ice King Ayaan’s walls, step by step.
But, of course, political rivals do what they do best — drama, scams, accusations, murder attempts, and more chaos unfold.
What I loved most? Saanvi. The way she handled every twist, especially that one moment where everything seemed lost from her POV (you’ll know it when you read 👀), with such intelligence and strength — girl, you earned my respect. And how she managed to melt the Ice King into a lovey-dovey husband? ICONIC.
As for Ayaan — I don’t have a personal grudge, but why must so many MMCs shut themselves off at the first sign of emotional turmoil? Dude, take notes from your wife.
But yes, watching him regret, learn, and grow — that arc worked for me.
Overall, this was a solid political romance with emotions, drama, and a great female lead. Definitely worth checking out!
