Secrets are hot, but demons are hotter.

Declan Grace, a Leeside demon and mechanic, is relatively happy with his life. He owns a booming auto shop and has a close-knit group of friends and family. In no hurry to settle down, Declan thrives on the rush of nightly conquests, paying no mind to the reputation he's building.

When professional dancer Eliana Oaks finds herself moving back home, newly single and fresh off a career disaster, the last thing she expects to find is her brother’s best friend. As she settles back into town, she spends her days teaching young children and teens at a local dance studio, but still feels like she's missing something. Coincidence lands her at Declan’s shop for repairs, and she soon discovers exactly what that something, or rather someone, is.

The day Eliana walks into his business, Declan knows there’s something special about the woman she’s become. Driven to be near her, Declan is only too happy to help Eliana and her dance studio put together the set for their upcoming showcase. As their relationship grows, one thing is certain– he needs to be with her. The only problem? Her brother can never know about Declan’s feelings for her. At least, not if Declan ever wants to see another sunrise.

Return to Leeside and discover how Declan and Eliana find love and passion, all while trying to avoid the rumor mill and keep their relationship hidden from the people who matter to them the most.

ARC Review
🔥 Hooked on a Demon by Isla Winter (Leeside Witches #3)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Spice scale: 🔧🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥)
Tropes: Grumpy/sunshine, forbidden romance, small-town magic, found family, demon mechanic with a past, “don’t touch my sister,” second chance at self-worth, therapy-positive heroine

Okay listen. I didn’t even know this was book three in a series but Declan came in hot, and I was hooked. This demon mechanic had me side-eyeing him HARD at first. Certified man wh$#e, Greasy reputation. Emotional avoidance like it’s his full-time job. But then Eliana walks in, and suddenly Declan’s out here catching feelings and fixing more than just cars. And I? I was swooning. He stole my heart so fast!

Eliana is reclaiming her power, her studio, her space.......and she’s not here for anyone’s nonsense. She’s got a therapist in her pocket and a growth arc that deserves a standing ovation. We love a heroine who’s doing the work and setting boundaries while still setting the page on fire. Her dynamic with Declan? Unholy. The garage scenes alone deserves its own novella. I will never look at a garage the same way again. Ever.

Also, shoutout to Eliana’s brother for bringing that classic “don’t touch my sister” energy. Declan navigating that dynamic was hilarious and weirdly wholesome. Like yes, sir, protect your sister but also, maybe let her have her demon mechanic moment?

This book gave me everything I want in a paranormal romance: magic, heat, emotional depth, and a couple that makes you believe in second chances. Declan and Eliana are messy, magnetic, and absolutely unforgettable. I’m officially possessed and heading straight for book one.

Thank you Isa for letting me read this advanced copy. All opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’m incredibly grateful to have received an ARC e-reader copy of Hooked on a Demon by Isla Winters.

Lately, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump, and as someone who hasn’t dipped into paranormal romance in quite some time, this book completely reignited my want to read. From the very first sentence—I was HOOKED.

Declan is the town’s resident playboy and the brother of the Head of the Demon Council. When he’s not at his mechanic shop, covered in oil and grease, he’s either with his dog Buckley or in town with his best mate. But once Eliana reappears in his life, he’ll do anything to protect her—even if it means keeping their relationship a secret to avoid betraying his best friend (yep, her older brother).

Eliana, the younger sister of Declan’s best friend, is a professional dancer who left Leeside to pursue her dream. After an unfortunate accident, she returns home and begins rebuilding her life as a dance teacher. As she works through her trauma—opening up to a therapist about anxiety and past relationship abuse—we see real character growth. Watching her let her guard down with Declan felt genuine and powerful.

The chemistry between Declan and Eliana was electric. Their connection, their protectiveness toward each other, and the emotional depth they shared made it impossible to put the book down—especially at 2:30am!

This was my first visit to Leeside, but it definitely won’t be my last!

Hooked on a Demon is the third book in Winter's Leeside Witches series. This brother's best friend, slow burn, small town, paranormal romance features Eliana Oaks and Declan Grace.

Eliana was a professional dancer however a recent injury brought her back home to Leeside. There she found work as a dance instructor at Strike a Pose. On her way into work one day, her car breaks down and she has it towed to the nearest auto shop - Hellbent Motors. When she walks in the door she finds her older brother's (Everest) best friend, Declan. They haven't seen each other in years but there is an instant mutual attraction.

Declan owns and operates Hellbent Motors. He's an excellent mechanic and just so happens to be a demon. Declan is only too happy to fix Eliana's car, at a discount of course. He knows Everest would not be pleased to learn his best friend is lusting after his baby sister so he tries his best to keep it under control. When Eliana reaches out to ask if he would be interested in offering financial support for the dance studio's upcoming end of term performance, he jumps at the opportunity and offers to build their sets with the help of his employees.

Eliana finds reasons to regularly pop in and check on Declan's progress. Their ongoing forced proximity, and mutual attraction leads Declan to propose that they secretly see what this attraction is between them, and whether it might go anywhere. While reluctant to keep secrets from her protective older brother, she agrees.

It doesn't take long for their spark to turn into a five alarm fire. The two fall hard and fast. The only problem is that they feel terrible lying to Everest. How can Declan break it to his best friend without losing him?

This was a fun and spicy read. The two characters definitely have chemistry and enjoy exploring it. I loved seeing Declan walk away from his serial one night stands to pursue something meaningful with Eliana. He became a changed man, focused on her needs, willing to take things as slow as she needed. He helps her heal from her past trauma.

While this was the first book I read from this series, I'm keen to further explore Leeside and I hope the author has more installments planned.

ARC REVIEW – Hooked on a Demon by Isla Winter

Okay so demon lovers listen… what happens when demons are just… normal? Like, no biggie, walking around running businesses, paying taxes, singing karaoke and occasionally having smoke come out of their ears when they are pissed.
Enter Declan brother to Mr. Head of the Demon Council himself. But Declan? He’s out here running a mechanic shop, covered in grease, giving me that “yes I can fix your car AND ruin your life” energy.

And then we have Eliana—our FMC and oh yeah, best friend’s sister. Yep. BEST FRIEND’S SISTER TROPE ACTIVATED. Forced proximity, hidden glances, so much longing… and I was hooked on the demon (see what I did there?).

We have a demon who’s great with his hands building sets a human who’s a beautiful dancer and it’s amazing to watch their relationship grow and build.

This isn’t just a romance it’s also about that beautiful, chaotic transition from your 20s to your 30s. Settling down, working through your mental health (rep was so good), figuring out who you are and who you want beside you. And Isla Winter nailed it.

But let’s be honest—the real scene stealer? BUCKLEY. The hound. The goodest, goofiest boy.

This book = cute, heartfelt, a little monster spice, and a whole lot of “oh no, I’ve been in love with you this entire time.” Ugh, chef’s kiss.

I had the wonderful opportunity these past few days to read an e-copy of Hooked on a Demon as an ARC reader!

Straight away, I loved the depth to the characters and seeing how they navigate not only tangible challenges but also mental struggles. It added depth to these characters that I love to see in books.

🩰 Eliana, my favorite of them all, is beautifully complex. She's a professional dancer who has unfortunately met the fate that is all too real for dancers, and many other athletes, everywhere: a career-ending injury. Add leaving a nasty relationship on top of that, and she's learning how to uncover who she is outside of what she's known herself to be for the past few years. I loved seeing the progress she made as the story went on and how she really grows into this new way of life!

🛠 Declan, the notorious player in town, cleans up his act at record speeds when he finds the person that makes him question how he's been living life. His patience and growth are unrivaled as he navigates settling into a serious relationship and tries to keep it from the people closest to him.

Overall, this was a very quick read for me because I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more about Leeside!

This book from start to finish was hands down amazing! This has to be my favorite book from the series and I did not want this book to end. I tried savoring this book over devouring.

Declan hands down stole my heart and amazed me with his growth. He went from playboy to making a change to be the perfect man for the woman who he was meant to be with. For a demon he held himself so well to be a great man.

Eliana was absolutely relatable and I loved her personal growth from the start of the book to the end. I loved how she was speaking to a therapist to help her overcome her inner struggles.

This book was spicy from start to finish, but the storylines were hands down amazing. A must read.

ARC Review – thank you Isla Winter!

I’ve got mixed feelings about this one, so bear with me.
For context: I haven’t read book 1 or 2, and I think it definitely would’ve helped before diving into book 3.

I found myself wishing for some flashbacks—like Eliana and Sam’s relationship, her injury, or even younger versions of Eliana and Declan—to give a bit more emotional depth.

On the flip side, I loved how relatable Eliana was as a therapy girlie—it honestly felt so validating.

And let’s talk spice… those scenes were VEEERY well done. 👀 Plus, I’m officially a big fan of Declan’s demon form.

If you like:
- brother’s best friend
- secret relationships
- demons
- and a lil spice
Then this book is for you.

Thank you to Isla Winter and BookFunnel for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not change my opinion

Emotional Abuse

Hooked on a Demon is the third book set in Leeside, a town run by a demon. Magical beings are known in this world. I always find that interesting so I requested the book.

Unfortunately this book did not quite work for me. It is an okay read overal but I was expecting more depth of the relationship. That is the main focus of the book after all. They have this instant attraction and I'm not sure if they really move away from that.

Eliana was in an emotional abusive relationship before she came back to Leeside and had to give up her dream career because of a physical injury. I struggled a little with her therapy sessions and the therapist. The way she talks about the relationship is something that happens as a victim, absolutely. Because an emotional abusive relationship is not so easy to determine. I think the book missed the nuance of an actual emotional abusive relationship.

I think my biggest pet peeve with this book is that our main character is a demon and it only shows when he mentions it. If you are going to take magical and fantastical elements at least let it be a part of the characters life.

Regardless, if you aren't bothered by these things than you might enjoy this book more than I did.

This is my first book by Isla. And what an incredible read this is.
This book is very well written and all the characters are very enjoyable. I highly recommend this Paranormal Romance.
Declan and Eliana's journey is very heartwarming. And a perfect amount of steam.
Eliana is broken and finding her way through her life. Declan is patient and shows her she is special and deserves to be loved without trauma being involved in the relationship..
I will definitely be reading more of Isla's books.
For all you Demon paranormal lovers this is a must read

Oh Declan! What a perfect book boyfriend. He loved and supported Eliana so much. He understood she was dealing with everything that happened with her ex and dance injury.
Eliana was strong but with the support of Declan, she grew stronger and was not afraid to open her self up again.
The family and friend group was finally and the banter was great.

This was my first time reading a book where the opening scene is a physically intimate episode between a man and woman described so vividly and with delicious detail. It was quite a surprise, and I was baffled at what the author's reason could be for choosing that kind of opening act. Not that I minded it of course. I enjoy all levels of spice in my books; it's really the plot that matters most to me.

Anyway, so as I read onwards, I realized that the said opening scene was a way to paint the MMC's current persona: how he was a relationship-averse kind of guy and was only into flings to satisfy his physical needs. As the story further progressed, it made to show how his chance meeting with his best friend's little sister - whom he hasn't seen in a long while - would eventually change that aspect of him in all the best ways.

When she meets him again after a long time, Eliana feels the immediate draw to Declan. Over their next several meetings, that draw inevitably builds a connection between them that they cannot resist nor deny. And so they agree with each other to explore it, secretly at first, wanting to be sure that what they're building is something that isn't going to be a temporary fling.

If Declan had been relationship-averse, Eliana is just recovering from one that had been abusive. She's still in the process of healing from it, of understanding the full extent of how it impacted her psyche. As a result, she harbors fears and insecurities of what another relationship might do to her again.

With those back stories behind Declan and Eliana, we see in this book an emotionally-charged story about finally finding a partner that sets you right, who helps transform you into the best version of yourself that you can be. I loved how Declan made sure that Eliana was safe with him: safe from harm, safe to express her fears and worries, safe in showing her vulnerabilities. With that safety cocooning her, Eliana found that it became easier for her to understand how her experience with her abusive ex affected her, and what it would take to break free from the invisible shackles that still tied her to him. And break free from him she eventually did, with not only Declan's support but her immediate family as well.

Stories like these - of overcoming trauma, achieving personal healing, and finding the one person who loves you with all their might - are always something I enjoy reading about because they are uplifting to one's spirit and shows us how goodness still abounds. The healthy dose of spice thrown here and there throughout the story, as well as having the MMC be a cinnamon-roll demon character make this paranormal romance truly enticing.

I was granted a free review copy of this book.. this review is being offered voluntarily.

📚✨ ARC REVIEW ✨📚
Hooked on a Demon by Isla Winter
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (4.5/5 stars)

Thank you to the author for providing a free ARC!

Eliana is back in her hometown after an injury ends her ballet career. Now she teaches kids at her old dance studio while dodging her manipulative ex and trying to figure out what’s missing from her life… enter Declan.

Declan is a lot of things — auto shop owner, demon, notorious playboy (playdemon?) — but boyfriend material isn’t one of them. At least not until he lays eyes on Eliana, his best friend Everett’s little sister. Suddenly, he’s making puppy-dog eyes over hot chocolate, volunteering for her students’ showcase, and asking her on dates.

Their secret relationship deepens fast, but when feelings become undeniable, the truth threatens to blow up in their faces. Can Everett accept that Declan’s love for Eliana is real, or will their secret destroy more than just a friendship?

I love the brother’s best friend/BFF’s sister trope, and this book absolutely delivered. Declan starts off as a classic f*ckboy- never hooks up with the same girl twice, sneaks out while they are still asleep- but once he connects with Eliana, it's like a light switch is flipped. Suddenly he is all about his feelings and sleepovers. The transformation was so endearing that I couldn’t help but root for him.

Eliana’s commitment to therapy was refreshing to see (end the stigma!), and I love how the book handled healing and self-worth without losing its humor or heat. She deserves a man (or demon) who supports her and loves her like she deserves. Thankfully, Declan fits that bill perfectly.

This is the third book in the Leeside Witches series, but it works perfectly as a standalone (like I did… oops). I’ll definitely be reading the first two; I am intrigued by the supernatural politics mentioned and want to learn more.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. But that doesn't mean others won't enjoy it! Here's what didn't work for me, which doesn't mean there's anything wrong with this book, it's just personal preference, and it could well be what others may be into:

- Things were over-described, in a way that felt unnatural and unnecessary. I don't particularly need to know exactly what everyone is eating or drinking at all times, the full details of the event put on by the dance school down to a very detailed scene on how the theme was chosen, or which screen they are going to watch a movie on at the cinema.

- The brother's best friend trope didn't work for me here, the secrecy felt a little pointless and a little too forced with the stakes made out to be higher than they ultimately were. The brother's reaction to the discovery of their relationship was obviously (and predictably) anger.

- I am usually a fan of spice, but didn't like the way it was written here. I didn't expect the first chapter to include a very detailed and explicit scene of the guy having sex with someone other than the FMC. It's a slow burn otherwise.

- Following on from the above, I wasn't a fan of the drama associated with the girl involved in the one night stand.

- There was too much emphasis on the MMC being a bad boy who sleeps around, then suddenly wants to give up his ways for the FMC after talking to her once. I didn't understand his reasoning.

- The FMC going to therapy following an abusive relationship was understandable, but I'm not sure we needed so much detail into multiple therapy sessions. Any vulnerability we got to see from her came mostly from the therapy sessions.

It's also worth noting that I have not read the previous two books in this series, and whilst this could technically be read as a standalone, I do think familiarity with the characters and a bit more background may have been beneficial here.

* thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for a review *

✨ARC Review✨

I’m a bit late to the review party on this one as life seems to have gotten away from me in the last month or so 😬

Hooked On A Demon is a paranormal romance that starts off with a bang (iykyk 😉), It’s the 3rd book in the Leeside Witches series and i wish i had read the first two beforehand to get to know some of the characters better!

Our mains are Eliana and Declan; a stunning ballerina with past relationship trauma and a reformed playboy demon who is actually quite sweet 🤭
But theres a catch..
Declan is Eliana’s Brother’s best friend, and with a chance encounter sparking instant chemistry, they must try to keep their relationship secret from everyone they know.

I think with the mention of a demon lover i expected a darker romance but Hooked on a Demon is more of a small town, wholesome but spicy romance instead which i actually quite enjoyed 🥰

I do wish there had been a little bit more mentioned about Eliana’s past, and even Declan’s. But i did love their story without it too. Perhaps I’m missing some of Declan’s story by not reading the first two books in this series, so thats on me! 😊

Declan also owns a dog called Buckley, which is an instant win for me, and i really adored the fact that he was given his own chapter 🥹
The spice was also very well written, it was nice to see a mixture of different terms used in the same scene and there wasn’t any outlandish nicknames for… well… you know… which is something i greatly appreciate when reading spice!

Overall i really enjoyed reading Hooked on a Demon and i cannot be more appreciative of Isla Winter for choosing me as one of her ARC readers 🥰

This was a fast-paced story centered on the romance between Eliana and Declan. It delivers exactly what you’d expect from a quick, enjoyable romance read, complete with familiar tropes and a touch of the supernatural woven in, especially in the more intimate moments. What stood out was the refreshing deviation from the typical third-act breakup. Instead, the major conflicts emerged from other relationships, though they were resolved fairly quickly.

Eliana and Declan’s relationship unfolds like a whirlwind, built around well-loved romance staples: the best friend’s sister/brother’s best friend dynamic, the reformed playboy, the dark past, and the charm of a small-town setting. These elements make for a satisfying setup, but I found myself wishing for a bit more depth beneath the surface.

While the story moves at an engaging pace, this speed sometimes comes at the expense of character development. Both Eliana and Declan have personal struggles and histories that are not fully explored, leaving their arcs feeling somewhat one-dimensional. The fast pacing doesn’t allow much room for deeper introspection or emotional buildup.

That said, the supporting characters bring a good amount of charm and energy to the story. Some of them feel like plot devices rather than fully realized individuals, but they do keep the narrative lively and help drive the romance forward.

Overall, if you’re looking for a fast-paced, romance-driven story that prioritizes chemistry over complexity, this book is an enjoyable choice. It’s a quick, satisfying read for those who love familiar tropes with a subtle supernatural twist.

This is a great HEA stand alone book that you can enjoy and get through quickly without feeling like you missed any parts. Hooked on a Demon had characters I just really enjoyed! There weren't dramatic over the top for no reason personalities. In fact- for being a book about a demon, the book felt so relatable! I think that's what made it a great read. You feel like you can relate to Eliana's journey, and you get what's going on in her head, but there's no long drawn out sob story that she holds onto like a crutch, but her trauma is real and you feel it. And Declan comes in as the guy who is just perfect- even when you first meet him he's the playboy, he's still not a bad guy. He's sweet while still pulling off the she's mine energy without seeming like a red flag. I love how he's clear he'd burn the world for her, but if she touches his shoulder to stop him he'd be putty in her hands!

The 3rd person dual POV worked well. I loved hearing both perspectives and the 3rd person actually wasn't as weird as I have felt in other books. It felt like a narrator setting up the dialogue and setting. My favorite thing I didn't know I needed was the Epilogue. Without spoiling it, it really captured the next phase but with a great twist.

This is part of a series, but I wast missing anything important not reading the other books. I plan to go back because I liked this book so much so I am sure I will have spoilers, but I don't mind- it helps the suspense for me personally so not a deal breaker. Can't wait to read Lachlan and Petra's story.

Thank you to the author for the ARC copy of this book!

I somehow missed that this was not the first book in the series (oops) but enjoyed it enough that I want to circle back around to book one!

First of all, Eliana is my favorite name so it was fun to read a character with that name! Also, she was very likable which made it even better. Eliana is a strong (mentally and physically) dancer who moves back to her hometown and ends up meeting a hot demon mechanic named Declan. I loved all of the physical descriptions of Declan because he wasn’t the physically perfect, flawless, washboard abs mmc that we often read in romance books. It was also sweet how hard and fast he fell for Eliana!

I liked all of the characters and the small town vibe throughout. Declan’s dog Buckley was a super cute addition as well!

A note of caution- from literally the first page, this book is VERY spicy and graphic so if that’s not your thing, this is not the book for you. Don’t even start it. But it also did a good job of making the book not all about the spice! It was spicy but also a slow burn.

Pregnancy trope is my least favorite trope ever so at least it was in the epilogue and could kind of be skipped if you wanted. It was also not my favorite choice to make that chapter from Buckley’s pov since none of the rest of the book was, but it was still pretty cute.

I’m looking forward to starting this series from the beginning and reading what comes next!

After an injury means Eliana can no longer dance, she returns home to Leeside. When her car breaks down she takes it to the local garage, which happens to be owned by her brother Everest’s best friend. The spark between them is instant, but can they develop their relationship without upsetting Everest? And can Eliana overcome her previous traumas?

Eliana is such a wonderful soul and seeing her journey through this book was inspiring. Declan’s journey is equally heartwarming. Declan is a demon and learning about how his species works was fun. This is the third book in the Leeside series and seeing characters from the previous books is always a fave element of mine.

Hooked on a Demon is generally a cozy love story, but there are also emotional elements as Eliana learns about herself and her new life, while recovering from trauma. Declan also has growth to experience and seeing him lean on his support network deepens the relationships in this series. Winter’s style of writing is engaging and grounded, even when discussing emotional issues. The duel point of view between Eliana and Declan creates a full story and aids in how we understand the thought processes of the characters.

An honourable mention has to go to Declan’s dog Buckley and all of his pet names!

This book is perfect for those who love a slow-burn romance with paranormal elements, great character development and in-depth family dynamics.

3.75/5 ⭐️s
🌶️🌶️ - medium spice, multiple explicit scenes

LOVES:
- First of all, I loved the therapy rep. It was a constant throughout and something that really helped the FMC, Eliana, work through her abusive past relationship and how to handle things in the present.
- Secondly, we love a Shadow Daddy 😄 Declan’s smoke tendrils are great and I actually could have used more action with them, if you know what I mean 😉
- I also appreciated that Declan has some softness to him instead of being totally ripped.
- If nothing else, get to the end for the dog’s epilogue 🥰🥹

CRITIQUES:
- This is the third in the series and the first one I’ve read. Unfortunately, it did feel like I was missing some details from the history of the characters and the town.
- The way that Eliana’s brother and Declan’s best friend handled their relationship was upsetting to me. He said some extremely hurtful things and they just glossed right over that. Some friend, he is 🙁
- The climax of the conflict with the ex felt a bit contrived.

There were some major things that bothered me about this, but despite that, I found myself enjoying the book. I think a lot of people would really like it and if I had read the first two in the series, I may have liked it more. Either way, the author created something they should be proud of!

Thanks to the author for the advance copy 💝 Happy release day!

Hooked On A Demon

Welcome back to Leeside and what a welcome it is. Eliana has returned to her home town after a career ending injury and the end of an abusive relationship. As she struggles to find her way in life again she runs into her brother's best friend Declan and a spark ignites.

Declan has never seen himself as boyfriend material, more of a love 'em and leave 'em type of guy, thinking that if he doesn't stay around he can avoid getting hurt. But all it takes is a single moment in Eliana's presense for him to start questioning everything.

Isla has written a wonderful story that deals with the aftermath of large life events that can and do damage us. Seeing Eliana work through her emotional turmoil written in such a beautifully articulate way was so calming.
Isla lets us as a reader experience the tension and yes, fears that Eliana has to go through to reach a safer, healthier place to live. And Declan shows her that not all men are the same. He gives her patience, love and understanding which in turns give her the power in herself to lower her walls and give love another chance.

This book was really good. And it has spice. I'm talking first line of the book. No holding back and I am here for it. A solid 4 stars from me.

Hooked on a Demon was such a fun, heart filled read with just the right mix of tension and spice. Set in a cozy small town, the story follows human Eliana whose world was turned upside down after a devastating dance injury ended her professional career and pushed her to finally leave behind her abusive ex. She’s in the process of piecing her life back together when she finds herself drawn into a slow burn, secret relationship with none other than her brother’s best friend, who also happens to be a demon.

Declan has always had a reputation as a carefree playboy, but he surprises everyone when he walks away from that life to be there for her. What unfolds is a romance that’s both tender and fiery: he comforts her in her lowest moments, helps her rediscover her strength, and in return, she brings out a depth in him no one thought existed. Together, they don’t just fall in love, they become the best versions of themselves.

If you love demon x human romances with forbidden vibes, a touch of angst, and a deliciously slow burn that pays off with plenty of spice, this one is absolutely worth picking up. It’s equal parts swoony and healing, with just enough small town charm to balance the darker edges.

4.5⭐️ rounded up

Huge thank you to Isla Winter for the ARC and for giving me the chance to dive into Declan and Eliana’s story early!

I loved both Eliana and Declan in different ways. Eliana’s strength in working through her past trauma and learning to let Declan in was lovely to watch. She’s resilient, talented, and easy to root for. And Declan? He’s a big old mush demon who has officially been added to my ever-growing book boyfriend list. The way he’s protective without being overbearing, grounding Eliana when she needs it most *swoon*. He’s cocky, charming, and tender when it counts.

Their chemistry jumps off the page, and I really enjoyed the mix of heat, heartfelt moments, and the tension of keeping their relationship under wraps. Add in the small-town gossip, the brother’s-best-friend dynamic, and Declan helping out with the dance showcase, and it all just made for such a fun ride. And the spice? It starts on page 1!

And can we talk about that epilogue POV? Absolutely loved it! The adorable cherry on top of a great story.

This was my first visit to Leeside, but it won’t be my last—I’ll definitely be going back to catch up on the earlier books in the series.

Secrets are hot, but demons are hotter.....and this book proved it! 🔥 Declan and Eliana’s story had me hooked from the start, and it was hot hot hot. I read this as a standalone (book 3 in the series) and had zero issues diving right in, it works perfectly on its own.

The character growth was such a highlight for me, and as a longtime Buffy, Supernatural, and Charmed fan, I absolutely adored the demon element. We love a good demon love interest, and Declan delivered in every way. That moment “See that fabulous woman in there, that’s the woman I love, I will go to the ends of the earth and back for her”— had my heart doing somersaults.

Special shoutout to the epilogue (so satisfying!) and Buckley aka Mr. Bucklesworth—who stole the show every time he appeared.

If you love brother’s best friend, small-town, spicy reads (and honestly, who doesn’t?), definitely get this one on your TBR. It’s an easy read that gives you plenty of feels, ticks all the spice boxes, and is devilishly good in all the right ways.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for an opportunity to read an ARC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was my first Isla Winter book and my first book in the Leeside Witches series, so I walked in pretty blind. But as someone who is fully into paranormal romances right now, this book definitely fit the bill.

I thought this was a super cute read and fun take on the brother’s best friend trope. Poor Eliana having to come back home after an unfortunate accident and trying to find healing after the trauma. And Declan as a demon daddy sick of the hustle and looking to settle down. These two came together so easily and it was so nice to read just their instant connection after years of not seeing each other. I also loved the small town vibes this book brought and how everyone is in everyone’s business, which just added to the tension. This book was a good quick read and perfect for the start of spooky season.

I’m definitely going back to reread the rest of the Leeside Witches series because there were definitely characters that popped up and now I need to know their stories.

Thank you to Isla Winter and BookFunnel for an advanced copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was such a fun paranormal romance. It's my first time reading a book by Isla Winters and I have to say I really enjoyed her writing style.

This book pulled me in right away with its cute small-town vibe and unique supernatural twist. The world and characters are not only fun and exciting but they are also relatable.

Declan and Eliana have amazing instant chemistry that slowly builds up to some delicious heat. I loved how they grew together. Declan is a total bad boy cinnamon roll and he even has a giant dog that is the best boy. Eliana is super sweet, resilient, and a hot mess which is what makes her so relatable to me. I loved the mental health representation in the story.

Tropes:
Brother's Best friend
Paranormal Demon + Human
Mental health rep
Small town
Slow burn
Reformed playboy
Secret relationship

Dual 3rd person POV

It's sweet, spicy, cozy, with a feel-good epilogue and HEA that will have you swooning.

This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I'm eager now to go back and read the other two books in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Isla Winter for the opportunity to read the ARC.

First, let me tell you that I just love this whole series so much. Yes, you could read this as a stand-alone, if you wanted to, but I highly recommend starting from the beginning so that you can meet most of the characters and have a little background. We got glimpse of Declan in the other two books, and I knew I liked him, but I had no idea he would become my favorite! He's a fun guy, he's a playboy, he's a loyal friend, but that's just the surface my friends and this book is going to give you all of his layers and then some. Eliana is an amazing character too, full of strength with vulnerability, sass with innocence and well, she's full of layers too. I love that this book takes us on the journey with them and we get to see them grow as people and perhaps as a couple. I also really love that the whole gang is here, we get to see glimpses of everyone and they make up a perfect supporting cast. Most important though, we get to meet Buckley and he's the bestest boy ever! (I promise that last part will make sense once you read it) Enjoyed every moment and I am sure you will too.

ARC Review

This was such a fun, light paranormal romance! I really enjoyed.

Declan and Eliana’s chemistry was fantastic, playful, flirty, and full of that “best friend’s little sister” tension I love. Declan is an absolute consent king, respectful and patient without ever losing that confident edge. I also really liked seeing both of their individual growth arcs, especially how Eliana rebuilds herself after her career setback.

If I had one complaint, it’s that the demon element felt more like background flavour than a real part of the plot. Declan could’ve easily just been a regular guy, and the story wouldn’t have changed much. I was hoping for a bit more supernatural intrigue or stakes tied to his demon side. And the third-act conflict was resolved a little too quickly for my taste, I would’ve liked a touch more to it to add some real tension.

Still, Hooked on a Demon was cute and heart-warming. It’s less “dark paranormal” and more “spicy small-town romance” I’m really happy I got to read this ARC, and I can’t wait to return to Leeside for whatever comes next!

Isla had me hooked from page one. The spice and Declans charm had me lured in. I loved the reformed playboy plot. Now it wasn't confirmed, but it sounded like it was giving fates mates. The chemistry and the pull, his demon being obsessed and fighting control! yes, please!!

The FMC and the MMC both showed growth in this book. Even though it started spicy, setting the scene for Declans conquests and playboy past, there was a slow burn there. The respect that Declan had for going at Elianas pace while she got comfortable was so sweet, but yet the heat was there! The lessons Eliana learned in therapy were also lessons that many readers could take home. So Isla I applaud that depth.

Throw in a few laughs. Some angering characters. It was the whole package. Bonus: no third act break up & some pretty neat Demon spice perks. 😜

This was book 3 but could be read standalone with very minor spoilers for book 1 and 2.

This was such a sweet romance and a slow burn but in the best way. Ughhhhh the way Declan checked in with her and made sure to get her consent was just….. chefs kiss. The two of them are so magnetic together. How they were able to hide it from her brother so long blows my mind. Also her therapy scenes and seeing her growth and recognition of the stuff from her past made me cheer and applaud her along the way. I love that while she didn’t love talking about the hard stuff, she knew deep down it was what she needed to do. Especially if she wanted to continue developing her relationship with Declan. It took her a while to accept that but once she did she took the steps to tell the people in her life the truths of her past. Also…. That epilogue just might be my favorite that I’ve ever read. I really enjoyed this book and definitely plan on checking out the others in this series.

For starters yes, I devoured this book in a day. This book hit on a personal level and really spoke to me. There are triggers in this book, anxiety and past relationship abuse are the 2 that stood out to me. Isla Winters did it right. As someone who has experienced both, it was portrayed as accurate, and done very well. The doubts, the questioning yourself, the overwhelming feelings, but then having found that safe person, having your friends and family understand and stand by you. It wasn’t just a book about that, it was an amazing love story, a sexy playboy demon, spice, forgiveness.. it had all the things. Nothing over powered anything, it flowed really well and it’s honestly one of my favorites I’ve read so far. I’m sorry if my review seems jumbled a little bit, but honestly, all the good feels. I loved this book from start to finish. (And the spice…? *chefs kiss*)
