This is sad because I know someone worked hard on this, you could feel the love and effort through every page.. and you'll probably like this if you were someone like Ned Flanders.. however, I am not.
If you like crystals, Journaling, and thanking the Universe for everything that happens to you in the hopes of something positive will happen.. then this book is for you. It was not in fact for me.
Positive thinking can be very helpful but also hard to rewire your brain into doing when all you're used to is negative thoughts and critiques of your own self.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't really anything like that. I thought it was extremely repetitive and boring. Anything that was said in here could have been a page long if the author didn't decide to say the same things in 20 different ways.
This was labeled as humorous.. I did not find it so.

Really quite the disappointing slog, which as I've said already is sad because you can feel the authors intent throughout the words in the book, I just don't believe I'm a Ned Flanders and is the targeted audience for this self help novel.

BADASS GRATITUDE: AFFIRMATIONS FOR SLAYING YOUR WAY TO CONTENTMENT.
BY: BECCA ANDERSON

I love to read books that have to do with "GRATITUDE," and this was well written with care by an Author, BECCA ANDERSON, who is a new discovery for me since so much thought went into crafting this Positive Messages found in this book. I deducted one star since I feel that there should be something in the synopsis or in the Net Galley area warning that this is a PDF File which is something that I've seen done several times before. I know there are other easy ways to circumvent this inconvenience which I had to use my alternative methods of how I read my books, and it is just the polite and thoughtful thing to do. I bear some responsibility since it does say it is available in PDF format. It is something that I don't usually check since most books are able to be read on Kindle that had I saw this wasn't I never would have requested it, and Besides that small quibble this was very uplifting in a feel good vibration way. I do have several large Crystals that I bought over a decade ago. but haven't used them which this book reminded me to remedy, and use them. since I absolutely believe that each particular crystal. of several ones that I own represent a different use that are very healing. I know that this has a lot of great information that could be used at any reader no matter how far they already are in their journey using gratitude.

I have long been practicing my own morning ritual of saying thank you for the five things I'm grateful for each morning. I believe it really is beneficial since I have long since noticed the powerful effects making this a habit something that I have been doing for seven or eight years. I can't remember where else. but I know it was recently that I read that scientific studies have now backed this simple practice of picking a few things to say thank you for every morning. The practice is so easy to implement, and all I have to do is look around my home and I easily find things that I am grateful for, and I never run out of things to be grateful for since this book is helpful, but I believe that I'm going to stick to my habit that works well for me, already. This was building on what my routine is and was very uplifting with building on what I already do is very enhancing, and I am glad that I read it which I'm sure I'll return to the ideas of inspiration, and offers hope to those new to the concept which was written with love.

For now it reinforces the practice and is a great source for those who are not already incorporating this habit which was warm and gave me additional ideas and fresh thoughts for those like me who are already find the positive habit with additional reasons what I already know is such a simple practice of what can transform our outlooks. I found the writing engaging, and it really can lead to contentment. I have read several books about practicing gratitude, and I was honored to read this one since I always find that I learn somethings new that builds on how I can find fresh content like Becca Anderson, provided in her book. This offered more evidence as to how what I believe is becoming a more widespread movement than when I first started making this a habit about eight years ago. I believe that each person who adds what this book offers if they are brand new will find this really will be a life changing simple way to see a noticeable, improvement that was helpful to me, and I really think that this was easy to read, and understand this wonderful Author's ideas that I will return to since it does have to become a habit. I loved the concept of adding my crystals, and basically everything this author wrote as I'm sure that each person will find this a heartwarming reading experience. Pick out what you found easiest to start which it has to be something that you will be certain to find that you will resonate with since it will have to become a routine that needs to become a lifestyle change. In order for one to notice results it must be done consistently. My advice is that you know that every one will find that depending on whether they are brand new to adding the information in this book, will be different for each reader. If it was me I would want to pick something that doesn't feel too overwhelming so that you can start with something you know is going to be easiest, and less complicated since while this is just my opinion, but there will be results by doing just one of the skills when done as at least once a day. I applaud this Author's efforts since it really is another valuable resource that will be helpful, and as someone who has been doing what is less than a five minute simpler routine I can guarantee that practicing gratitude will improve your outlook since I know already it is effective with what I do. I will return to this book since I loved it.

In Badass Gratitude, Becca Anderson brings her signature blend of wisdom, empowerment, and straight‑talk motivation to the transformative practice of gratitude. Known for her uplifting collections of inspiration and affirmations, Anderson takes the concept a step further here—showing readers that gratitude is not just a gentle spiritual exercise, but a powerful, rebellious act of claiming joy and meaning in one’s life.
What makes this book stand out is its bold, unapologetic tone. Anderson reframes gratitude from something passive into something fierce—an intentional stance of resilience and strength. Through curated quotes, personal reflections, short essays, and practical prompts, she demonstrates how acknowledging the good in our lives can become a source of courage, confidence, and clarity.
The book’s structure lends itself beautifully to daily reading. Each passage offers a quick dose of motivation but also encourages deeper reflection. Anderson’s ability to pair heartfelt insights with accessible, actionable advice makes the reading experience both comforting and energizing. Whether she’s discussing everyday blessings or the gratitude that can come from overcoming hardship, her message is consistent: gratitude empowers us to reclaim our narrative.
One of the book’s strengths is its diverse collection of voices. Anderson includes quotes and stories from women across history and backgrounds, adding richness and dimension. These excerpts reinforce the idea that gratitude is not a one‑size‑fits‑all concept—it's a universal tool, yet deeply personal in how each woman practices and interprets it.
Stylistically, the book is uplifting without being sentimental. Anderson’s tone is encouraging but grounded, making the book a welcoming companion for anyone looking to cultivate mindfulness, positivity, or simply a moment of peace in a busy day. It also works well as a gift book or as part of a morning ritual.
If there is one limitation, it’s that readers seeking a more research‑driven or traditional self‑help narrative might find the format—heavy on quotes and short reflections—less structured than expected. However, for those who appreciate inspiration delivered in bite‑sized, motivational pieces, this format is a strength, not a drawback.
Ultimately, Badass Gratitude is a celebration of empowerment through appreciation. It reminds us that gratitude isn’t a passive feeling—it’s a bold lifestyle choice that can help us cultivate strength, joy, and resilience. Anderson’s voice shines as she encourages readers to embrace gratitude as a badass act of self‑love and personal power.
A vibrant, uplifting read perfect for anyone ready to transform their mindset and reconnect with the good that already exists in their life.

When you start this book, you can just feel the positivity and gratitude from the very first page! I think we all need a pick-up from time to time and sometimes we need help seeing the gratitude in everyday life when it all seems so overwhelming. This is a great book to have on hand, and even to gift.

The book has a nice flow to it, starting with what gratitude and affirmations are, how they can be a positive influence in your life, what it might look like to develop and practice this new or improved outlook. It moves into what it means to be a grateful, authentic friend so you can be one, and you can recognize when you have found one in others. This book talks about friendships, the ones to recognize as beneficial, and the ones to let go of (and that it is ok to let them go!). It then moves into how you can help yourself move into this more positive framework. Life isn't always easy, and she acknowledges this, the advice helps you to take a moment to see something good even in tough times when that are on your doorstep, so it is not dismissive of tough times, it actually embraces whatever feelings you have about tough times and then great advice on moving forward to embrace a positive outlook.

For myself, it has helped me to be more aware of what I need to do and how I can improve, it has also made me more aware of those people around me who are, and are not, authentic friends. It is a lot of reframing what to “see” and how to “see” your world differently. I found this a great book to read and gave me a lot to think, with a ton of great ideas and advice about and how I can influence my world around me. This is a very uplifting and positive read. I found it extremely helpful and an enjoyable read. A well-written and positive addition to your book collection!

Thank you to NetGalley, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and author Becca Anderson for providing me with a digital ARC to read and review.

The colorful cover immediately drew me in, even if the word “badass” feels a little peak-2010s. The book seems especially geared toward older millennial women, but the overall message about gratitude, self-talk, and encouragement can resonate across ages and life stages.

I’m a firm believer in the power of gratitude and in finding affirmations that actually fit the person and the moment. This book approaches those ideas in a fun, approachable, and visually engaging way. Andrews McMeel often publishes books that feel lighthearted and accessible, and this one definitely fits that style. The design is playful and inviting, which makes it easy to pick up and spend time with.

It’s also packed with journaling prompts, exercises, and practical ideas for incorporating gratitude into daily life, which I really appreciated. This is definitely a “you go girl” kind of book, but not in a way that made me roll my eyes. The tone stays encouraging without becoming overly cheesy or exhausting.

This is absolutely a book that works best in a physical format rather than digitally. The author encourages readers to mark it up with colorful pens, sticky notes, and personal reflections, and I can easily see myself buying a paper copy to keep by my bed or on my desk for difficult days or moments when I need encouragement. You’re definitely going to want the print version to fully enjoy the activities and exercises.

I especially think this would make a thoughtful gift for a woman facing a transition or challenge — heading off to college, graduating, starting a new job, moving, or navigating a difficult season of life. Sometimes a colorful, encouraging little book can provide exactly the kind of reminder someone needs.

With any self help book, I don’t think you have to take everything in it all at once. Sometimes you read it and later on, something you read might come back to you right when you need it. This book is full of so many topics, beyond affirmations (the affirmation stations were fun!!) like gratitude (and it's not just about being grateful to/for others), emotional intelligence, your relationships, manifesting, and visualization. Some things might resonate with you right away, and other things might be something you come back to later. That’s the nice thing about books like this. You can take what speaks to you and leave the rest for when you need it.

I think this is a great book for someone who is just starting their self love journey. It’s easy to pick up, read a few pages, and walk away with something to think about. It would also make a really nice gift for someone who could use a little encouragement or a reminder to slow down and show themselves some kindness. I loved the colorful pages, it didn't feel like homework but felt like a fun experience to read over coffee in the morning, and I looked forward to reading a few pages each day!

Thank you to NetGalley & Andrew McMeel Publishing for the ARC! I look forward to adding it to my shelf!

Badass Gratitude is a spirited affirmation guide filled with positivity and a good amount of sass. Becca Anderson encourages readers to build a gratitude practice that feels empowering rather than passive, and she presents her ideas with confidence and charm.

The book includes tips for shifting your mindset, breaking negative patterns, and creating spaces of intention in daily life. Many of the ideas will feel familiar to seasoned readers of self help, but Anderson’s lively voice keeps things fresh enough to stay engaging. It is clear she knows how to motivate people in ways that feel both practical and supportive.

Although the content leans more toward inspiration than deep instruction, it is still effective for those looking for simple, feel good reminders. The short sections, quick reflections, and upbeat tone make it ideal for picking up whenever you need a boost.

This is a great fit for readers who enjoy affirmation based books and want a fun, energetic addition to their self care library. It offers kindness, encouragement, and perspective, even if it does not venture far outside the expected formulas of the genre.

*I got this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

What a lovely surprise this book turned out to be! I went into it without very high hopes, as I usually don’t have much luck with self-help books. But this one came into my life at the perfect moment, as I'm currently battling clinical depression.

I found things that I had already worked through in therapy, and it was a good reminder to take better care of myself. I'm grateful (see what I did there?) that this book reached me. I will definitely use some of the advice I found in it.

Highly recommended for anyone who feels lost in their life.

Badass Gratitude is a cute, friendly entry-level guide to gratitude and positive self-talk. The tone feels like a supportive friend hyping you up: light, encouraging, and sprinkled with sass.

It’s best for first-timers, teens, or anyone who wants an easy pick-me-up and isn’t already deep into mindfulness/gratitude practices. For me, a lot of the ideas were familiar, and some sections felt repetitive, this could’ve been tighter and even more useful at half the length.

Still, it’s an uplifting read with practical mindset reminders, and it would make a sweet gift for someone starting their self-care journey.
