Perhaps not shockingly, given that the mangaka is married to the creator of Komi Can’t Communicate, this series has a very specific flow to it that rarely goes anywhere unexpected.

In this case, I see that as a strength rather than a weakness, honestly. Yes, it’s probably because it’s yuri. Chidori and Nanoha basically take turns making one another blush as they navigate their relationship.

And that’s cute enough to be a good time. They’re a good match and, sure, there are problems that keep cropping up, but nothing feels terribly weighty. The question of their future together is beginning to weigh on them, but it never feels dire.

Still, who am I to complain about yuri fluff? Nobody, that’s who! None of this is crazy exciting, but it’s not boring either. Seeing Chidori and Nanoha drive one another wild over small things and gestures is a great way to spend a volume of manga.

There’s nothing more complicated than trying to get alone time in Tokyo and being saddled with a third wheel, complaints about levels of affection, and Christmas being derailed so they can be good friends. I have zero problems spending a chapter watching somebody shop for presents if I like the couple well enough.

It’s not broken and doesn’t need fixing, basically. Sure, I don’t think it’ll ever be a personal favourite, but I can’t say I’m disappointed by it. Sometimes it’s okay to be just okay.

3.5 stars - stay cute, you two. Some volumes hit it harder than others, but mostly this is enjoyably inoffensive.

As usual, such a lovely book! I love the art, it's so clean and tidy, and the clothes and designs are really cute too. My one slight gripe with this is Abe has a girlfriend and they both know this, and yet they still don't feel able to say that they're dating. It felt a bit of an oversight, and maybe would have been a nice story beat, where Nanoha could have confused in Abe about the anxiety of coming out to their friends. Even so, I still really enjoyed it, and excited for the next volume!
