i love narumi and hoshina so much, help

I have such mixed feelings on this volume, and think, unfortunately, it is my least favorite volume of the series?

The reason I feel that way is that this volume didn't quite deliver the excitement and intensity I have felt when reading the previous volumes, EXCEPT in the scenes with Narumi and Hoshina! That was SO good! I loved seeing their backstory and never imagined Narumi would have beef with Hoshina! LOL! The way they fought was AWESOME, and it had me on the edge of my seat as well as cheering!

The reason I feel this is my least favorite volume is that I'm unsure about stuff with the kaiju? On the one hand, I am thankful that we were given an explanation of what the kaiju is that entered into Kafka's body, but on the flip side, does that mean ALL the kaiju are embodiments of something that became a physical kaiju? Are there kaiju who are simply kaiju that were born not from overly strong emotions that took form? How do you know the difference between them? Does it matter if you can't know? I felt that specific part of the story really confused me personally in the sense that I had more questions than answers.

However, the ending was very good, and it was the most Kafka decision ever, and I couldn't help but think, "This is SO him!" Though I'm also like what does that mean for the final volume? Will Kafka be a kaiju forever? Is there a way for him to turn human again?

I will definitely be tuning in and seeing how the series wraps up!!

داستان به این خوبی با این پتانسیل آخرش هیچی
من مانگارو خوندم نفهمیدم این چرا هیولا شد اصلا دلیل هیولا شدنش چی بود همش منتظر این بودم به این پی ببرم، اینجا منطق داستان درنیومد

I had so many mixed emotions in this volume. Joy at the finale, shock to the twist and second half of the battle with No. 9, excitement when Hoshina turned up, and amusement when Narumi was called in to help. Narumi and Hoshina's competive, childish banter will always be welcome, I love seeing it so much, even during the heavy times. I also loved how No.10 was like 'I want to fight Narumi' and Hoshina was like 'nope, let's avoid him'- their fight really would be extraordinary if it ever happened. I swear, Hoshina and Narumi better be okay after all this... Yay for Kafka coming back!!

hmm.. despite action galore and me glazing Reno, my interest started to slightly fizzle out already few volumes ago. But I did want to continue + it had some awesome moments where character shined. I see that there will be one more volume out in September. So I will see the conclusion either way.

I think I got bit tired of some tropes that I knew were coming right up. Hence, the predictability. It felt that despite such danger in front of them (and country in general), you knew that after struggle and ''overclocking'' possibility, everything will be fine and dandy. Last minute strength increase. Power of friendship. Winning against unreal odds and so on. Standard, I know.

It has fasted paced action/character growth-wise progression (sometimes we see the progress, and sometimes we are told that they are just THAT good right now, without showing more and how they got there). In my opinion, it suffers pacing issues. I'm not saying that the story needs to be dragged out, but you can't shake off the feeling that we should have seen certain character development better. Seen more depth to them. And honestly, I still don't care about Mina. And she is Kafka's main drive. And Kafka - it felt like throughout the story, he felt at times more like an extra or secondary character, than main one. And yes, I get that we need to have focus on others too and I did mention it lacked depth for side character exploration, but I feel that it could have been written better.

Honestly I read the whole series but it was online so I don't know specifically what I would rate each volume, but overall, it's a 5 stars.
This Manga series made me cry multiple times, the ending was amazing, honestly the whole thing was amazing. I love all the characters.
I genuinely could not put this down.

I finally finished the Kaiju No. 8 manga... and wow. 😭
I only picked it up because the anime left me hanging—but I’m so glad I did. From beginning to end, it never bored me for even a second. The plot was gripping, the story well-paced, and every single character had their own charm. Honestly, I loved them all!

Though I was slightly disappointed that some of the other kaiju didn’t get much spotlight (No. 9 totally hogged the stage 😅), that’s just me wanting more. The overall story? Absolutely solid.

One of the most powerful messages here is how friendship can be a weapon too. The series beautifully shows that there’s nothing wrong with asking for help, learning to trust others, and staying strong even when everything feels impossible. That really hit me.

And now that it’s over? I’m going to miss this cast so much. That bittersweet feeling of “I’m satisfied… but what if there’s more?” You know what I mean?

If you’re thinking of reading it—DO IT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 💥

THIS VOLUME, we got Hoshina and Narumi fighting together I have literally never been sad in my life however, if anything happens to them I'm killing everyone in the room and then myself.

We finally got a lot more world building to the source of no8's power and that was really interesting, and also how no.9 came to be, he is such a weirdo.

I'm still worried about how we are going to deal with Kafka trading his heart for power

One volume left however, I need to go to bed because of uni so I will have to leave it for tomorrow 🙃

this manga is gradually becoming quite hard to read. the only character i feel any sort of interest towards is Narumi, a far side character. Even then, I suppose my interest towards him stems mainly from the fact that he is quite strong and funny. Also, cool to look at. Might drop the manga altogether after this, ngl

Okay we finally get some teamed up fighting in the final big battle. Narumi and Hoshina should kiss. I am calling it cause that is enemies to lovers happening here if I do say so myself.

Mina was sadly absent in this volume mostly. Apparently this fight has been happening for 400 years and this is the epic climax that we will be witnessing in the next and final volume.

L'avant dernier tome de ce manga. Je trouvais que ça s'essoufflait un peu depuis quelques tomes (même si j'adorais quand même) mais celui-ci redonne un coup de boost. C'est juste fou, mais c'est dommage que ce soit aussi proche de la fin.
Maintenant j'attends début 2026 avec impatience !

its so cool seeing how all of them are working together to try and get this down because i makes sense for kafka to be the one to take it down but like at this point SOMEONE JUST NEEDS TO PULL THAT TRIGGER. but i love my little kaiju fighters <3

I'm tagging from memory, so if I missed a few that apply... eh.

I like this more than other volumes mostly because it feels like the story is finally wrapping up, after a good number of irreversible major twists. Not that I necessarily WANT the series to end, but it DOES feel like there aren't a lot of believable ways to continue the story from here—you know, as believable as kaiju are in the FIRST place.

There's not a lot else I can comment on without getting into spoilers; JAKDF continues to pull out their heaviest artillery, the kaiju (or yoju or daikaiju or whichever it is now) fight back with some secret twists, and of course Kafka has to do SOMETHING as the effective titular character. It's standard shounen fare, but—as noted—it appears to be leading to a logical ending.

Not that it can't continue from the end of the fight against Kaiju No. 9, but... I find it hard to believe the story will be as good quality as what's come before.

Recommended for fans, of course! Newcomers will be SUPER LOST without at least having watched SOME of the anime.

Can despair, shame, & failure create a strong, protective being - or do they only cause centuries of anger, misery, & a desire to destroy?

What causes one groups generations of grudges & pain to become love, and another’s only a desire to destroy? (Hopefully, we’ll discover the latter in vol 16!)


The insect that flew into Kafka’s mouth wasn’t so random, after all!
I didn’t connect the dots immediately and was confused if the feelings from the ancient warriors ultimately created no 8 or no 9, but Matsumoto absolutely made it clear to readers (with a decent memory 🫠) through art & dialogue that it became an **insect** (that we saw in volume 1)!

I loved Hoshina’s badass entrance into this volume, the ancient culture art, and the drawing of no 9 as just a lil guy :’)
