What can I say about this volume? I absolutely loved it from start to finish. The scene of Satoko breaking down into tears at the thought of her one day being so sick and feeble she won’t be able to get out of bed and not wanting Shinpei to see her like that was so emotional. Also her fear of actually saying the words “I love you” out loud.
Towards the end of the volume we finally see why Asagiri behaves the way she does. She and Satoko have in common and that they don’t want the man they love to see the “uglier parts of themselves.” I also really enjoyed everyone coming together at the end and working a plan out.
That ending!!! I loved it! I need the next volume today. I’m so serious. I can’t stop gushing over this.

The more I read, the less interested I am. Why must this move at a GLACIAL PACE.

I am surprised we are still on the island if I am honest. But I liked the moving forward of feelings and thinking about what little future they may have together and what that might be. The overall plot seems to be a little lacking in this volume but that's because we get the honesty. Can't wait for the next volume.

All'inizio non mi era chiaro dove questo volume volesse andare a parare, ma migliora decisamente con la lettura. Le similitudini tra Satoko e Asagiri, due donne così diverse tra loro, mi hanno decisamente colpito. Devo dire che la sensei Tachibana è davvero brava nella caratterizzazione dei personaggi. E anche nei colpi di scena!

"Beh, a me non importa di morire. Non ho alcun attaccamento a questa vita. Ma di recente ho cambiato modo di pensare. Vivrò e renderò Satoko libera. Mi rifiuto di morire lasciandola da sola."
Questo sesto volume è stato abbastanza intenso. Il desiderio di Satoko di contribuire alle fortune della sua famiglia è sempre presente, ma forse è giunto il momento di trovare una soluzione alternativa al matrimonio, visto che la ragazza non ha alcuna intenzione di separarsi sa Shinpei. E così incassa il sostegno della sua guardia del corpo, che, dopo averla vista spendersi per gli altri, ora vuole aiutarla a raggiungere la sua felicità. È ovvio che la situazione rimane complicata: Shinpei non è proprio il genero dei sogni 😅, però è disposto a tutto pur di proteggere la protagonista. E non si fa problemi a dare voce ai suoi sentimenti - cosa che invece non riesce molto bene alla povera Satoko. La ragazza è sì innamorata, però i motivi di preoccupazione sono tanti (a partire dalla sua malattia e gli effetti che avrà in futuro su di lei). Probabilmente ci vorrà un po' più del previsto, ma sarà importante per lei trovare le parole giuste per far sapere a Shinpei cosa prova veramente.
E poi c'è Asagiri, con la sua storia e la verità dietro la sua decisione di rimanere sull'isola e di non farsi comprare - un'altra donna innamorata che ha fatto un passo indietro per proteggere l'uomo che amava da qualcuno di molto pericoloso, che subisce trattamenti degradanti e maltrattamenti senza mai emettere un lamento, che si è trovato il corpo sfigurato per mano di un tizio che si sente protetto dal suo essere un uomo ricco e potente...anche se le cose potrebbero cambiare piuttosto velocemente (Shinpei non è uno che ci va troppo per il sottile). L'obiettivo è quello di liberarsi di questo infame e, al contempo, di trovare altre prove per provare in maniera definitiva la colpevolezza della matrigna di Satoko.
Insomma, la storia continua rimanere piuttosto interessante. Così come mi era successo con "Promise Cinderella" sempre della stessa autrice, non avrei dato due lire a questa serie. E invece mi sono dovuta ricredere: in entrambi i casi, sono le protagoniste femminili uno dei motivi di maggiore interesse. Qui poi c'è anche da considerare l'ambientazione storica, un fattore che ha sempre il suo fascino.

okay so I went into volume 6 thinking I was emotionally prepared and I was, in fact, not. cool cool cool. everything is fine. I'm fine.
let me set the scene: a man is scaling an actual cliff. with a woman in his arms. like it's a Tuesday. meanwhile there's another guy at the top serving the most unhinged "I will end you" eye contact I've ever seen rendered in ink, and I just had to sit there clutching my iced coffee like it was a stress ball. the love triangle in this series is not a triangle so much as a geometric crisis and I am OBSESSED.
Satoko continues to be the kind of heroine who makes a deeply chaotic life decision in volume one and then has to live with the consequences for six volumes straight, which, honestly? relatable. we've all texted something we shouldn't have. hers just happened to be a marriage proposal to her own assassin. girl boss. girl fail. girl somewhere in between. Meiji-era mess and I support her fully.
Shinpei "loves as intensely as he kills" is a sentence that should not go as hard as it does and yet here we are. Tachibana's art is doing CRIMES in this one — the panels where everything goes quiet hit like a freight train and I had to put the book down and stare at my wall for a bit. the tension is so thick you could spread it on toast.
I will say NOTHING about how things land because if I spoil this for you I will simply have to disappear into the night. just know that the "bittersweet conclusion" the back cover promises? they were not kidding about the bitter OR the sweet. both barrels.
five stars, zero emotional stability, and a heart condition of my own now. send help. send volume 7.

Tomo bastante intenso y esclarecedor, ya que hemos podido avanzar en la historia de ciertos secundarios, que han resultado ser bastante importantes para el desarrollo del arco de la huida. Aunque en esta se nos muestra la dura realidad de las oiran y la crueldad a la que se podían haber visto sometidas al ser consideradas mera y pura mercancía.
Por otro lado, Satoko parece haber tomado una decisión de vida, la cual no va a ser un camino fácil. Sin embargo, es la opción que a ella más le satisface. Y es que ha tenido que elegir entre seguir las normas de la nobleza, reglas que la han acompañado y guiado durante toda su vida o alejarse de todo ello y vivir en libertad pero sin su apellido, con todo lo que conlleva eso.
Aunque una cosa es segura, ni ella ni Shinpei van a permitir que los separen, ya que su promesa de matrimonio florece cada vez más desde el amor y no desde la necesidad de supervivencia. Un romance que, aunque empezó bastante brusco, está encontrando su lugar y creando un espacio donde ambos se entiendan, cuiden y protejan.

J’ai beaucoup apprécié ce tome, qui fait avancer l’histoire de manière plus posée mais essentielle. Le triangle amoureux est rapidement mis de côté, sans s’étirer inutilement. Les sentiments sont toujours présents, mais une décision claire est prise, apportant une forme de maturité bienvenue au récit.
Ce tome brille surtout par le développement de la courtisane. Découvrir son passé, comprendre ce qu’elle a vécu et les raisons qui l’ont façonnée permet de porter un regard plus nuancé et plus touchant sur son personnage. Tout devient plus cohérent, plus humain.
Les révélations apportées donnent aussi le sentiment que l’intrigue se rapproche d’un tournant important. On perçoit enfin la possibilité d’une libération, non seulement pour elle, mais pour tous les personnages impliqués.
Un tome introspectif, mélancolique par moments, mais nécessaire, qui renforce l’attachement aux personnages et donne envie de découvrir la suite.

You know what I'm fine with Shinpei's homicidal mania. Everyone needs a hobby and in that time homicide was probably, always plan B. Just clear a path and let this guy solve all the problems so these two kids can live happily ever after, for a minute at least 😬 lol. I mean let Shinpei be Shinpei 😏 lol.
I highly suggest not taking this relationship seriously. It is highly toxic and unrealistic, but also fictional. Just have fun here, and then we can all happily bawl our eyes out together in the end. A lot of comments on various platforms take this shit too seriously, and it's always funny to me and I think...oh you must be new here lol.

Shinpei e Satoko si avvicinano sempre di più e il rapporto si sta evolvendo in modo "sano" rispetto agli inizi. Ho apprezzato molto la scelta di Kotaro, non è mai stato un personaggio cattivo, anzi, perciò questo era l'unico destino possibile per lui.
Le sevizie che ha dovuto subire Asagiri mi hanno fatto venire i brividi, soltanto Satoko poteva comprendere a pieno i sentimenti che muovevano le azioni della cortigiana. Non devo l'ora di vedere Lady Shinpei in azione, sarà sicuramente un bagno di sangue!
Sarà un'agonia aspettare il prossimo volume adesso.

Tornem a la casella d'inici amb la missió de convèncer l'Asagiri... sembla que té alguna història pendent amb el Mitsueda, no pinta gens bé perquè la noia és força retorçuda :/ Inevitable sensació de cert estancament un pèl absurd després que l'Asagiri cremi el paper que incriminava la madrastra de la Sakoto... per això baixo a 4, perquè sembla que ja són ganes de d'embolicar la troca en excés. Això sí, novament tenim altes dosis d'acció, drama i progrés amb la parella protagonista ♥️

Ça faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas continué et en relisant, j'ai réalisé que ça m'avait vla manqué !! Toujours aussi addictif, j'ai adoré les moments entre Satoko et Shinpei surtout que là ce tome est centrée sur la manière de comment se laisser être vulnérable devant la personne qu'on aime et la peur qui découle de ne pas être accepté. J'adore toujours autant Satoko, c'est une héroïne tellement touchante et courageuse, qu'on me la protège quoi

My emotions went up and down while reading this volume. And it turns out that something unexpected made Asagiri become such a woman. Her role and Satoko's character development are also cool in my opinion. From this volume, I also got to know Shinpei's soft side. The final page of this volume really surprised me.

Kotaro ha estado muy bien en este tomo y le ha dicho a Satoko lo que necesitaba escuchar, ahora solo falta que ella se arme de valor y cumpla con su objetivo. La trama se ha puesto muy interesante y tenemos un nuevo plan que ojalá salga bien 👀

Plot wise this one isn’t as exciting - after where the last one left off I was expecting a little more from the start of this. But the character development for Satoko in this one is fantastic - i’m so excited for her and i love how Shinpei supports her in his oblivious, delinquent way 😅

This one had a lot of relationship progress but also felt so slow. I feel like ever since bodyguard showed up her character has frozen. Like, just commit! But we also get some good dark reality of sex workers, haunting.

this volume is my favorite so far. some character/relational development happening here. i need satoko to spit them words out,though! 😭 i want asagiri and mitsueda to have a happy ending. also their plan at the end..fire reveal 😂🙂↕️
