I was ready for this to be over a dozen volumes ago, but my mama didn’t raise a quitter.

Genuinely, I don’t think I would have wanted Komi to have ended any other way. By which I mean it had some moments of real heart and humour and then also grated on my last nerve. Consistent to the end.
When the graduation speech finally comes, it is a rather neatly realized message about how it’s okay to just be weird. Having accumulated an incredibly oddball assortment of characters over these many, many volumes it was nice to see it used for a clever sentiment at the end.
Some of the chapters work decently. Despite Kawai being present, a character who rivals Yamai in detestability and attitude, the section where Komi goes house hunting is very funny. Actually, it’s because of Kawai that it works at all, so….
Another, where Manbagi and Komi try to get their driver’s licenses, is incredibly amusing and a reminder of how Komi can be really good once in a while. This takes a real turn and may or may not kill a driving instructor.
But if ever a series existed on a fulcrum, it was this one. It relies on piling on really juvenile humour and it might get a chuckle now and then, but it’s very cheap and frequently falls flat.
I mean, this volume literally has a dick measuring contest, so… what more can be said? The Yamai chapter (sigh) decides to explain the former’s obsessions with Komi, which is roughly 30-odd volumes too late. Also it’s wrapped up in Yamai trying to paw at Komi’s nipples, lest you think I wouldn’t hate it or something.
There’s also precious little closure to this story. Even the epilogue chapter just decides to wrap things up with the hint of sex and a look at a very predictable status quo.
But there’s no Naruse and Ase, very little Manbagi, nothing from Komi’s brother, and the one girl in first year who Komi helped does have a nice moment, until her section is wrapped up in unresolved yuri bait. They even bring back that secret society who fantasize all the time, which really wasn’t needed.
It’s incredibly frustrating. As can be seen in this very volume, when the series was good it could be amazing. Yet it frequently was not. I know it’s not easy to crank this much content out, but, even if that’s an accomplishment, if the content isn’t great, who cares?
This ended well enough for me, if we’re being honest, but it could have used a lot more of its page count to make it truly special. Instead, it doubles down on a lot of the things that have driven me crazy for several volumes now.
3 stars - speaking of consistency, Yamai appeared (and got a whole chapter, no less). One more automatic three stars for the road. I survived, but I feel I won’t ever come back to it.

I hope you enjoyed the moments shared by the main characters last volume because this finale practically sidelines their relationship as the side characters once again steal way too many pages in digressions and pointless gags.
A whole chapter is spent comparing penis length of the male characters at a bathhouse. Ren Yamai gets a chapter for one last bit of sexual harassment. An extra-long chapter is given over to the Fantasies Club daydreaming about who'd they like to date.

A heartwarming conclusion to a beautiful manga

Feels nice to have finished the series. I’ll hold it close (I think this was my first rom-com manga?). Would have been five stars, but it had a few…. Odd…. Chapters that could (& should) have been left without. I’ll remember the good times instead.

I can’t believe this volume, this last one of the manga I’ve been reading for the past five years, has a running dick joke in one of its chapters, that’s absurd 😭

Growing up I was always the Najimi but I had a friend who was a Komi and she’s still a Komi, but she’s always working hard to overcome her communication issues.
I love the artstyles of this series (I say it plural because it changed like halfway through idk) but I still loved it.
I love a story with a BIG cast of characters and I love how they’re all so different and interact with each other. All of the romances between them were all so cuteee
I love Tadano and Komi they actually feel real, and not just a relationship built on lust, they both get flustered and embarrassed of each other but still really do love each other and care about one another. They are the children of Sawako and Kazehaya from Kimi ni todoke.
THE ENDINGGGGG I LOVE a good epilogue 🫶🫶

Solo puedo decir que fue tan linda esta historia, me encanto ver cómo fue creciendo el personaje de Komi y de todos los demás. Hay unos personajes que nunca terminaron de gustarme pero bueno son parte de la historia.
Creo que nos deberían de dar un capítulo especial para ver a todos de adultos porque no es suficiente con ese final

This was pretty cute. I loved the part where they compared the size of all the guys, it was pretty funny. The ending was really sweet.
Overall, the series was okay with a few great moments here and there. I don't think I'll read it again, but I enjoyed it.

A conclusion that I expected and was pretty spot on. I wished we could have had more closure with characters instead of Yamai backstory and a dick measuring contest at a public bath. The chapters with Komi and Komorebi were great and the graduation does remind the reader of the many great characters and great times they had.

Komi Can Communicate!
After ten years of my reading it, Komi Can't Communicate is over, coming in at 37 volumes. And if you, a n0n-manga reader, are sort of impressed or horrified by that kind of commitment, you should know that it takes less than an hour to read one of these volumes. But it is an accomplishment, a tribute to stick-to-it0ness, ir obsessive completism, maybe.
Speaking of accomplishments, it will surprise you (and interest you) not at all that Komi achieved her high school goal of making 100 friends. But at what a price to readers who must meet and get to know and largely forget dozens of characters clogging each issue!? Why not have her realize, 1/3 of the way, that it is the quality of your friendships and not the quantity of them that truly matters?! Cue Wizard of Oz music here, there's no place like home. Or something. Because in the anime, which I have not seen, there would be music to help you cry here. But is it a good point? Of course.
But what really is that point? That you can survive high school as a positive experience if you make an effort and take a chance. And what is the effort fundamentally about? Communication Disorder, or Social Anxiety Disorder, that Komi has (and her equally shy boyfriend Tadano has) in spades. And the series makes a serious (or rather, largely junenile-ly funny) contribution to the literature on this disability. In short, every kid has a problem with communication in this series, they all struggle with it. Some are adhd-ishly over-speaking, and some almost never speak. Some are rude, many are inappropriate. They are, in short, learning how to live with others, and this as it turns out for most kids, is way hard. So here I applaud, tired as I am of the series I was praying would end a dozen or more volumes ago. The main characters are likely, the jokes sometimes land, for me, so for teens it will really work.
The ending with Tadano and Komi graduating and going off to uni together (to live in the same dorm?!) had to happen, it had to end with them together, though the hint at the very end that Komi makes of actual sex happening sooner or later is a sad joke for readers who waited at least 20 volumes for a mere kiss. But it is sort of funny to end in that way?. The sexual references in this volume on genitalia--penis measuring?!--are a little cruder than in most volumes. And there were fantasy sequences that touch on these issues as well. Oda letting loose, a bit, in the end?
Everything is mosly bland and predictable in this last issue, bringing most of the main characters in for a last hurrah. My fave moment was the opening bit, where Komi, as a more confident graduating senior supports a shy freshman girl. That's what you do, you pass it on, you pay it forward. Sweet. I sort of liked the driver's license scene, too, amusing.
Do I recommend it? I recommend you read some of it, at least, as I do think it is a real contribution to the literature on anxiety, which is worse in schools than ever.

This was a nice ending. I especially liked the chapter where Komi was assigned the role of giving a speech at graduation and she realizes that she doesn't want to. I like that Najimi was the one to help her see it and encourage her to just say no and that none of her friends will take it personally. I also liked that Tadano was the one to make the speech.
Something that I will commend the series for is how we gradually see Komi come out of her shell, but she is still dealing with anxiety. She is brave but she also has moments where her voice shakes or she is nervous. It makes her progress feel more believable and lovely, because we can see the small steps she has been taking and how much they pay off for her growth. Her seeing herself in Komorebi was a very sweet full circle moment.
This is a series that I think went on for longer than it should have. I've had a lot of issues with it, from the depictions of queer characters, the very unfunny (and at times very meanspirited) jokes that become recurring and lots of page time dedicated to side characters that aren't very interesting. Also, as I'm writing this, I'm thinking about how weird it is that we got a Yamai chapter but didn't get a chapter for Shosuke and Tadano's sister, to send them off. All that to say, this was not a perfect series by any means. Nonetheless, I'm glad I've finally completed it and can say goodbye to these characters.

Komi Can't Communicate finally ended after running longer than it should. At least it still landed its last great arc in the last volume. It graduated as a completed series.
Volume 37 contains shorter arcs that are not as essential as the ones in the last volume. Mostly stories that would have canceled this series prematurely if it ran earlier in the run. Especially a bathhouse story about Tadano and the boys comparing sizes of their sausage fest.
Still, there is a moment where Najimi gives Komi some heartfelt advice, an apt coda after all these years of being a big three with Tadano.
Overall, this series had its moments, mostly early on its run, but it really ran too long and had too many characters to keep track and kept the spotlight off the main characters. I also miss the characters who fell off the rotation.
I'll probably reread this manga again in a few years, fitting the purpose of why I collected this in physical copies.

This could’ve been one of the finest RomComs of the Manga world.
But so many unnecessary stretches of weird and uninteresting game arcs that this just felt like a drag during the last 150 chapters.
The final 30 chapters were really good.
But this had so much potential. Talking about something so sensitive and in such a unique way. It should’ve been handled in a much more sensitive way rather than such a careless way.
The romance was so goated. The comedy was so goated.
The character arcs were so goated.
Why ruin all of this with unnecessary game arcs and filler chapters?
Nobody is forcing you to write 500 chapters.
Write 200-250 great chapters with more character moments. End it on a high. Reach the goat level it deserves. Why ruin something so special?

I truly felt like this was going to be a 4-star review as the first half of the book felt like it was franticly trying to close out storylines that could have gone at a slower pace. BUUUTTTTTTTTT....when you read the second half this 37-volume series feels like it ends PERFECTLY! Tomohito Oda knew the assignment and landed it perfectly! I have no regrets from this series, complaints and only high recommendations for reading it. Now that it is done, I hope even more people sit and amerce themselves in this instant classic manga series! Watching the anime is also fun, but you'll go further with the manga.

I loved this series. This series helped me figure out who i was as a person. Sadly, my favorite, Shosuke wasn’t shown or mentioned in this final volume. But, thats ok. I am more than happy with this ending. I honestly cried. There was so many moments I had to close the manga and sit for a moment, but they were all worth it. I couldn’t have been happier with this (thats a lie more shosuke would be nice) I’m content either way with it. 37 volumes, too much money, and a bookshelf shelve bending from the weight of them. I’m happy. Thank you, Komi, for showing me who I am.

After loving volume 36 so much, I knew the finale was going to disappoint me. I knew that the perviness and awkward comedy would be back and that a bunch of the weird side characters I'm not fond of would have to be given time. I gave a three-star rating because I'm really torn on whether or not I should have just skipped this volume altogether.
Here's what I liked:
- The driver's license stuff (though it was filler)
- Komi finally confronting Yamai (for lack of a better term)
- The yearbook stuff
- The graduation
- Getting to finally see Komi's direct perspective
- The stuff with Komi and Hiki
- Tadano's speech
Here's what I didn't like:
- The opening stuff with Hiki and what's-her-name (a relationship I don't care about)
- No Shosuke or Hitomi (I recognize that their story has already peaked, but it would've been nice to see them one last time)
- No Naruse and Ase (Naruse is in the background but never says anything)

For a final volume, there's some really odd digressions here along with some of the uncomfortable moments that have been in and out of this series. Some plot threads just kind of fade out while others get wrapped up. It's an odd conclusion to the whole adventure, but it still has moments of very sincere heart. It's been quite the journey from day one and, uneven as it's been at times, I'm glad I got to follow along.

I am so pleased that is was not just 2 final chapters and filler (this has happened with some other manga series.), this goes right up to chapter 500. This volume is a lovely way to end the series. The addition of the size competition between the bots at the the bathhouse was hilarious. Komi got her 100 friends and I really like the way she dealt with Yamai (the girl that has an unhealthy crush on Komi). A great final volume.

I was expecting more or Komi and Tadano’s romance and the ending was super bland… but it’s the last book and I felt really sad that Komi was slowly parting ways with her school and friends. I really wished for another volume to check up on the changes of Komi’s friends and how she lived everyday. Ending seemed a little rushed, but it was bittersweet to me either way.

This was such an anticlimactic ending. There were so many sections in this last volume where I really would have preferred they replaced them with almost anything else that gave more closure to the characters. But there were also some pretty solid sections that did a great job of resolving some aspects of the story. It feels less like we ended and more like we just stopped.

I really enjoyed this series, I’ve reread/caught up to present repeatedly over the years and just did it again this month and now it’s finally done. Is it perfect? No - but I very much enjoyed it and enjoyed the character growth! Tadano was a great character to follow and see the relationship with the other wacky characters and Komi grow! Very cute! Would recommend!

5/26 The crude humor reached an all-time, very adult low. If this hadn't been the last volume I wouldn't have finished, and certainly wouldn't have continued the series. This was originally a sweet and quirky story, but it just got too ridiculous and uncomfortable which is always an indication that ran much too long. Glad I started it, but very glad it's over.
