THIS ENDS TONIGHT presents three intertwining tales of revenge that tears through Las Vegas on a single action-packed night. Sin City has about 250 murder victims sent to the morgue every year -- these three tales eclipse that in just a few hours with guns, knives, swords, poison, a spike strip and vehicular mayhem. THIS ENDS TONIGHT! GERRY DUGGAN (X-Men & Deadpool) and JAE LEE (Eisner-winning artist of Inhumans and Hellshock) team up with co-writers KELVIN MAO and ROBERT WINDOM and colorist JUNE CHUNG. Collects all 3 issues.
This comic was a very fast-paced story that all happens over the course of a single night. Each chapter is a new story, but they are all happening in the same night and are technically interwoven with each other at certain points. However, this story has WAY TOO MUCH going on! The plot is constantly throwing new story concepts, characters, and plotlines on almost every page. My head was spinning with how much was happening at once and how much information was being thrown at me. I think if the story stuck with one plotline and one set of characters, it would have been much easier to follow. The second story was my favorite out of the bunch, because it had the simplest concept. A group of women is having a bachelorette party in Vegas, while also being chased down by various bounty hunters. They have to try to survive while also keeping the Bridge safe and unaware that the bounty hunters are trying to kill them all. If the story had only focused on this one plotline and this set of characters, I think I would have enjoyed the entire comic so much better. Also, the whole thing with elves and changlings and magic is NEVER mentioned in the second story, which makes it feel disconnected from the first and third stories. The first story focuses on two sisters on the run from assassins from a rival family trying to kill them. But then the first story starts throwing stuff in about secret ancient eleven families from the moon, and secret sisters. So much happens, I'm left off-kilter. Also, characters repeating "This ends TONIGHT" every couple of pages is irritating. It was cute the first time, but by the fourth time, I was so over it. I did enjoy the art; it was pretty well done. My major gripe, though, is that EVERY woman is never drawn with an expression other than "sexy model blank stare". Literally, I started looking, and none of them made any other expression. Only ONE of them makes an expression that's a little more intense than a blank stare, but only barely. We have people getting beheaded and arms cut off, assassin club shootouts, and stabbing people with swords, but the only expression ever made is "sexy stare"?
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
This graphic novel felt like the writer and artist wanted a story where women kill a bunch of people, and in that, they succeeded. Unfortunately, it doesn't get much deeper than that. Three intertwined stories unfold in an alternative Las Vegas. There were threads of SFF, particularly as it relates to the backstory of the feuding groups, but the current day world lacked world building to explain how much of those fantastical elements carried over to modern day. The characters were unmemorable, with weak motivation (and sometimes unclear relationships with each other).
The art was fine - I think there was a missed opportunity to play up the Vegas setting. While it was there, it felt subdued, and ended up feeling like this story could have unfolded in any city. One detail I did appreciate was the creativity of the panel layouts, which gave an extra kick to the action scenes.
Somehow this ended up feeling like a first draft of a Quentin Tarantino movie, with less feet, a weaker plot, and character development still in progress. Rounding up because not everyone cares about character development and world building when it comes to action graphic novels, and I hope this book finds its people.
First I would like to thank NetGalley, the Author, the Artist and the Publisher for this ARC.
Let me tell you that when I say, WTF was this, I really, REALLY mean WHAT ACTUAL F*** WAS THIS....
I loved the coloring and the art-style. I also understand that these are 3 different stories that intertwine. But tjeees.... for the love of my cats... I still don't understand what just happened. At some point it started to make sense and then I figured there would be a GIANT end scene explaining everything but then there was the last page and nothing made sense. I do hope there will be a second volume or something to explain everything. The reason why there are elves and changelings, the second moon, the sisters, why there are assassins after the bridal party, what happened with the elves, what happened to the last girl's dad, is he still alive... just everything. The whole comic felt like a mix of any Quentin Tarantino movie mixed with "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once", which isn't at all bad 'cuz I enjoy both. I love the blood and the gore and don't mind the chaos. I just hate the fact that I'm left with a lot of questions and just a completely bewildered brain at the last page.
The biggest pro about This Ends Tonight, for me, was the art. The colours, the design choices, how the panels were laid out - all of that worked for me and the character designs were incredible. Beth, Rachel, and Fiona were my faves. My biggest wish is that we could have seen more of it!
And that was my main issue with this series, was that it felt too short and disjointed. I couldn't figure out who everyone was in relation to each other; it felt like it should have either been three different stories, or more volumes should've been added. The plot was very hard to follow, who was related to who (except for the first volume, which I thought would be more useful for understanding the following two). Everything is connected... somehow, but never elaborated on enough for me to understand exactly how they were related to each other. I also can appreciate open endings, but this was all way too confusing to justify one, in my opinion.
I really would give this closer to a 2, but I rounded it up to a 3 based on the art and design. Thank you to NetGalley and Image Comics for the eARC.

Thanks to NetGalley and Image Comics [the publisher] for an eARC of This Ends Tonight, a graphic novel by Gerry Duggan, Robert Windom, and Kelvin Mao, with an expected publication date in January 2026, in return for an honest review. This edition combines three separate comics, which portrayed 3 intertwined stories of revenge during one night in Los Vegas. The first part tells the story of a group of female assassins, whose attempt at a day of as they celebrate a bachelorette party for one of their members, to be followed by a dawn wedding. Part 2 focuses on elves and a group of bounty killers that discover that the team of assassins are in town and decide to go after them. The final part focuses on the Fixer and son & daughter as they try to maintain control over a mysterious briefcase. The graphics are kinetic and the stories are non stop action/violence. As result, the plot is often confusing, and, at least for me, became more convoluted in the final act. As a result, I would rate parts one and two 5 stars, and part three 3 stars, with the entire publication at 4 stars. If you like your action non stop, this is for you.
Thank you to NetGalley and Image Comics for an ARC in exchange for my review!
Out of the three issues in this collection, the second story was by far my favorite. I am interested to see how different stories intertwine and I think the set up has potential. It was fun to see the girls and their bachelorette shenanigans in the background of all of the violence and chaos going on in the other issues with the other characters. I am also interested to learn more about the backstory of the characters introduced in the first issue. I feel like I do not understand what is going on, this comic definitely throws you in the middle of the action, and that is what the majority of it is, straight action. There were so many heads chopped in half that I lost count! I can see how an abundance of action is what some people are looking for (especially in comics) but I do wish that the onslaught of action slowed down a bit so I would be able to understand what is actually going on. Perhaps I am not much a perceptive reader, but I found it very difficult to keep many of the characters straight as the art style means that many have the same faces which is only made worse by them being related and sharing similar skin and hair colors.
You’ve got a seriously talented crew on this book: writer Gerry Duggan and Eisner-winning artist Jae Lee, teaming up with co-writers Kelvin Mao and Robert Windom and colorist June Chung. The result is a hyper-violent, visually stunning group of interconnected graphic novels
The story’s are genuinely interesting and the art fantastic.
But there’s a problem : it feels way too short. Because of the brief page count, the different story threads and ideas feel a bit smooshed together and rushed. You don't get enough time to fully settle into the world before it's hurrying toward the finish line.
In the end, there's definitely a diamond in the rough here. The potential for something great is clear, but it would have shined so much brighter if the book were longer and the story given more room to breathe.
Bottom line: A visually spectacular but rushed read. It’s worth a look for the art alone, but you’ll likely finish it wishing it had been developed into a full-length story.
A big thank you to image comics for giving me this book to review through netgalley all opinions are my own.
This Ends Tonight tells 3 stories about women who kill people. It also happens during the same night. I couldn't really tell you much beyond that.
This story is just confusing. It felt like I was reading about 10 different stories with pages out of order. It feels as if the characters are jumping from one location to the next, with no explanation as if they actually moved or if it's just an artistic style. There were too many different concepts and world-building introduced into these tales that were supposed to fit together.
I am the kind of person that only enjoys very specific types of fourth-wall breaks, but this is one example in which I liked it. Not necessarily when the narrator pointed out characters we would meet later, but, for example, when it was questioned if it would be more effective if a scream was in bold and italics.
I'm a big fan of the artwork. It makes the characters look very unique, but just slightly eerie. The backgrounds, however, were part of the reason why the action was so hard to track.
Thank you to NetGalley, Gerry Duggan, Robert Windom, Kelvin Mao, and Image Comics for the advanced copy. This review is left voluntarily and honestly.
This comic is divided into three interwoven stories happening simultaneously, which can make it feel quite chaotic and confusing at first. Story One follows two elven sisters as they uncover the truth about their heritage. It feels almost like a fever dream something clearly supported by artwork displayed in this section of the comic. Story Two shifts gears with a wild, high-energy bachelorette party that quickly turns into a fast-paced escape from bounty hunters. It's intense and action-packed, making for an entertaining ride. Story Three centers around the daughter of one of the most feared men in the world, who is simply trying to have a girl's night out. This storyline appears to serve as the glue that ties the other three together, helping to answer many of the lingering questions as the narrative progresses. Overall, the artwork is well-suited to the tone and energy of each storyline, and I found the visuals to be a strong point of the comic. While I enjoyed elements of the different plots, I wasn’t particularly drawn to any one of them, and much of the story left me feeling confused.
This is a chaotic, action packed collection that features long legged, lovely women killing guys. In story one, we have a story about elves. In story two, it’s a group of contract killers protecting an oblivious bride. In book three, the elves are back, but so are zombies? Honestly, it’s a bit of a mess at the moment, and I imagine that — if I continued the series — things would be either explained (or at least tied together) or become even more chaotic.
The art is lovely, though, with a sort of art deco flair to the women that I enjoyed. For all that there’s violence — so much violence — it’s all swords and guns and explosions rather than assault or threats of sexual assault. The stories move fast and are somewhat connected — one and three with the same antagonist, book two taking place on the same night, but not necessarily in the same world — and I can’t say that any one of them stood out more than the others, for me.
Fun, but I don’t see myself continuing the series. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC.
First of all, I want to say thank you to Netgalley for let me read this comic. I was intrigued with the cover of the comic at first. The first story make me wish that all the stories were in the same world (if you know what I mean), and it was very cool, with a mythology that makes you hope to know more about it. It is true that the second one for me was the more difficult to get invested to, but I recognize that, with the last one have more sense of closure. For me this comic is a 7 out of 10: it has a beautiful art, and stories that eventually are crossed well, giving the comic a sense of cohesion and good closure, but if I have to put a negative part, maybe that would be that, although is not exaggerated, I think is obviously a comic about action women created by men: is not offensive or anything like that, but it has something with some of the characters that makes me wonder if maybe would have been a bit different and even more cohesive.
This Ends Tonight is an anthological bloodbath romp that is gritty, violent, and really fun! The illustrations of vibrant and chaotic in a way that makes it impossible to put down. The story starts with two sisters being hunted down, and in the midst of it, there might be a paranormal twist that no one will see coming. From there, is a wild ride to the finish, watching all the characters slowly start to intertwine in a masterful way.
The story isn't just gritty and violent. It is also exceptionally weird (sort of like an even grittier Sucker Punch). The story deviates wildly from anything that could be considered linear, but this is all a part of the charm of the story. You know it is a web that is slowly but surely pulling you down into the center, where a massive climax is waiting. It is uneasy and suspenseful, and a genuinely great thriller!
I would like to Thank Image Comics and NetGalley for a free eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.
I can tell that this comic has big ideas. The paneling is dynamic, and the storytelling is incredibly cinematic. The feeling I get is that the author could see their creation as a movie in their head. It is conveyed as such. However, the narrative feels like it's missing pieces. It is like the author knew what they wanted to show as a movie but was constricted by the medium into condensing the story but because of being too close to it, they couldn't be a good judge of what exposition was absolutely essential. Bottom line is that it feels disjointed as hell. I can tell there is good stuff here, but I couldn't access it. Also, a counterbalance to my paneling praise is that if you use a paneling technique over and over again, it starts to lose the impact it would have had if you switch it up. This super dynamic paneling because mundane after a while.
This was fun and very action-packed. If you want a story about badass women, give this a shot.
We've got elves, contract killers, zombies, fun illustrations, swords, and women that aren't taking shit from anyone. Very fun. There's a lot going on, I'm sure I even missed some key action points as well.
This was chaotic in a good way, a fun way.
I also really enjoyed the art, I thought it was very cute and fun to read. My eyes were always visually interested, I spent more time looking at the art than I did the words.
I do wish that the stories felt more connected. I think they needed more flow, something to make it all come together. They didn't all seem to be occurring in the same world, if that makes sense.
Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!
I requested "This Ends Tonight" because it reminded me of "Sin City" and I'm not better than a man, and I wanted to read about hot women going on a revenge spree.
The art was my absolute favourite, and I would love to see the artist illustrating projects that catered to women, because his talent would be deeply appreciated in fae romantasy and similar genres.
I was less impressed by the story. It had potential, and all three plots were connected by the end, but I felt like a lot was missing from all of them, to the point that they felt nonsensical.
This had potential, but we needed to know more about these women, other than how good they looked in skimpy clothes, and the story needed more than sexual innuendos and action to stand on its own.
Thank you to Edelweiss, Image Comics and Simon & Schuster for this DRC.
This Ends Tonight is a series of three interconnected stories focusing on a single night in Las Vegas. Each story references the other two and there's a good sense of a cohesive world. However, the ending story doesn't so much wrap things up as stop. I was hoping for a little more.
There's a lot to like here. It's fast, fun, and gorgeous to look at. Jae Lee is so stinkin' good! I love yhe way he uses line and texture. And I love his use of open space. It's just really cool to look at.
So, all in all, a good book that needed a bit more work. I wouldn't be surprised if this became a movie. It's got a cinematic feel to it.
Thank you to Image Comics and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book. This comic is split into three sections following different characters along an interconnecting plot in Las Vegas over the course of one night. Thus this comic is VERY fast paced. The art style is beautiful, but some of the fight scenes were confusing at times. The story tried to do too much in such a short amount of time. Each section could have benefitted from more pages spent on building out the plot and providing more character backstory. The ending was left open-ended and was not tied up in a bow, leaving readers to draw their own conclusions about the connections between each story. The connections between each storyline and the plot felt rushed and not fully fleshed out.
In truth, this ended three episodes too late. Really not good, it's women being beyatches because they can and want to be, and killing people before they get killed. They might be elves in disguise, losing touch with the Old Country, as in the first jumbo-length pile of doo-doo, or hens on a typical Vegas hen night, or the melange of three stories that makes up the conclusion. Whatever the plot each episode just devolves in meaningless mush, the hyper-jagged gutters around every frame of the comic only annoy, and all told it is the epitome of senseless violence, in that it makes no sense at all. So my word 'conclusion' is an optimistic hope that there is no more where this came from. A generous one and a half stars.
THIS ENDS TONIGHT presents three intertwining tales of revenge that tears through Las Vegas on a single action-packed night.
I really wanted to like this more than I did. While the art was gorgeous and the violence was quick and bloody, the story just left me lost and confused. It was fast paced, (not a bad thing), but plot was left open-ended to the point I had jo idea what the heck was happening just basically women killing people in graphic ways. Expected publishing date Jan. 20, 2026 Thanks to @netgalley and Image Comics for the opportunity to read this eArc in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Thank you NetGalley and Image Comics for an early read of This Ends Tonight! This was fun! I was all over the place and that’s because this was also all over the place to me. But I was invested somehow. The art style was cool! I was always looking around the pages making sure I didn’t miss anything and just appreciate the art. But I was very confused like in a good way but in a bad way. I can’t explain the bad way. All the girls meeting each other at some point was cool I liked that. I couldn’t remember who was who for the life of me but idk I had fun!
Thank you NetGalley for the Earc. Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
I'm very intrigued to read more! I liked how there were 3 plots that all tied together as the story went, adding more depth to what the reader knows. My main complaint is the first story just came out of nowhere. I just wasn't expecting Inhumans since that wasn't described in the comics description, and the part where they get drugged was WAY too long. I ended up skimming it cause I was losing the plot. Otherwise, the are is fantastic, and I want to follow these sexy baddies in the next volume!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this volume! This is a really fast paced comic, and I feel like it can be a little confusing at times, but it has amazing art and great female characters. I love women and I love light fantasy. I would read this for the fashion alone
