Chihiro Rokuhira’s father, Kunishige, is the most famous swordsmith in the land. Thanks to his six enchanted blades, the war that has been gripping the nation ends, and peaceful days follow. After the war, he retrieves all six blades and hides them in the cellar of his workshop—but sorcerers raid his home and leave Kunishige dead in front of Chihiro. Many years later, Chihiro wields Kunishige’s seventh and final enchanted blade on a mission to retrieve the stolen swords!

Chihiro and Hakuri head to Kokugoku hot spring, the sanctuary where the enchanted sword bearer is being held. On the way, they encounter Hiruhiko from the Hishaku. Hiruhiko’s a violent sword fighter who considers himself Chihiro’s peer. Isolated from society, they burn for each other’s lives and clash!

Un altro numero stupefacente: i nuovi personaggi che vengono presentati o solo accennati sono al solito affascinanti, parzialmente stereotipati, tipici del shonen eppure freschi, dinamici, accattivanti e la mano di Takeru Hokazono è assurda.

Kagubachi is so great too bad it dosnt have any scantly clad female characters that I don’t chichro keeps having nosebleed gags with, that would really kick it up a notch

There will be SPOILERS in this review!

This was better than I expected. As much as this arc seemed like it’s going to be formulaic and dragged out I think it’s actually holding up pretty well. It is introducing some really interesting characters and it’s quite funny so far.

Speaking of new characters… both Samura and Uruha are actually great characters. Starting with Uruha… I love this dude’s obsession with Rokuhira. I mean, the way he says that Chihiro is his father because of the same vibe is just hilarious. Also he is hot so yeah, I like him. And Samura is also great. I like this blind man who relies on smell and sound but who also kicks the asses of bad guys without problems. I also love how he doesn’t want the ninja to sacrifice for him and doesn’t want to leave without them.

Also the ninja are cool. Especially that little brat who eats cigarette-shaped snacks.

I also quite enjoyed that idiot with paper who fought Chihiro whose name I didn’t bother to remember. He is so crazy and delusional… I love it. Like, bro, fighting someone because you’re two very different people with different ideals doesn’t make you friends… grow up.

My biggest problem with this volume is probably the pacing. Actually, it’s the issue in the entire series. Everything is just happening so fast that I barely get invested into the character and we already move on to the next one. I feel like this series just needs to slow down a little because the pace with which it’s moving is just a little distracting and it makes the series feel not well thought out.

Overall, this is not a bad volume but the pacing really is an issue as I would have loved to learn more bout Uruha and Samura but we’re already moving on to the next temple. I’m giving this 4 stars and I really hope that this manga slows down because it has potential but it doesn’t give its characters enough room to breathe.

It's kind of amazing to think the Sojo and Rakuzaichi Arcs are only the first five volumes... meaning more than half the series is Samurabachi. Here comes Iai - White Purity Style, to change the course of how pretty much every battle is fought before the big flashback...!

The manga is going to get messy shortly with the back-to-back Samura helping the Hishaku stop the use of Enchanted Blades, Kamunabi leader guy being a mole for some reason, Yura being hijacked by the Sword Master, and the Sword Master having a somewhat similar philosophy to what led Samura to be kind of dubious. So hopefully having the chapters compiled in tankobon would make it easier to make sense of what happens and why, because I'm caught up with the serialization, which is nearly seventy chapters ahead of where this volume ends, so my memory is somewhat fuzzy. Okay, very fuzzy.

Takeru Hokazono feels like a mangaka truly arriving at the height of his powers. Volume 6 of Kagurabachi is an absolute blast, and honestly one of the most fun reads I've had in a manga series in a long time.

The centerpiece of this volume is the clash between Chihiro and Hiruhiko, and it does not disappoint. Hiruhiko is such a compelling foil — a violent, unhinged sword fighter who sees himself as Chihiro's equal — and the tension between them crackles from the moment they meet. The fight choreography is exceptional. Hokazono has a real gift for making sword battles feel kinetic and unpredictable, and this volume is the best showcase of that yet. Every exchange feels dangerous, every panel transition keeps you off balance in the best way. There's a brutal momentum to the action here that's hard to put down.

And the art — the art is stunning. The detail in the blade work and the motion lines gives the fight sequences this almost cinematic weight. I am amazed that even in a studio system, they are able to produce such detail week after week.

Honestly, the latest Kagurabachi volume feels like the series leveling up in every possible way. The fights are still insanely stylish, but what really hit me this time is how much deeper the abilities and characters are becoming. Seeing Chihiro push Enten to new limits makes the power system feel more layered and strategic, not just flashy.

I also love how the tension keeps rising, you can feel that everyone is reaching their breaking point, especially with abilities that clearly come at a heavy cost. It makes every battle feel dangerous and meaningful instead of just cool spectacle.

Overall, this volume convinced me even more that Kagurabachi isn’t just hype, it’s building a serious long-term story with evolving powers, darker stakes, and characters who actually suffer for their strength. I’m more hooked than ever.

“Whaddaya mean?! We’ve got to do something! How can he fight if he can’t see?!’
‘Do something?… They’ll figure it out soon enough. Samura attacks sounds.’”

OH MY GODS samura is so fucking cool😮‍💨 and the Makizumi are cool too!! i love that we are seeming older men from the past war effort fight (😏) i can’t get over how fucking fast the guy is like bro it comes through so clearly in the pages.

i also like how some of chihiro’s opponents show how similar but different one can be when rasid with love and care🙂‍↕️ shoutout to chihiro’s dad, may he rest in peace but god damn we got another great shonen protagonist

also this took me way to long to finish… i’ve been reading on shonen jump online but i genuinely might start collecting the volumes

With the amount of killing that happens in this series, we finally get a point where Chihiro has to reconcile his part in it. What makes him different from the opposition that kills just as much?

I also enjoy the introduction of the characters from his father's past.

Some of the scenes here are so picturesque. This series will always get a plus in my book from other revenge tales, from having a female main character who is essential to the plot and fights boss battles.

Volume 6 of Kagurabachi is one of the best volumes I have ever read. Oh my god.

Chihiro fighting Hiruhiko, a guy who has some weird abilities with paper was fascinating to see. Chihiro also accepts the fact that he is a killer its just that he tries to minimize the life loss, not like the enemies.

And let me talk about the new characters we meet. The blind guy, Samura, he is just such a bad ass. He cut out his eyes because he could not see how he kills people so now he just kills without seeing it. And he has his three bodyguards who are cool as hell… Everybody in this manga is just so cool, man.

Amazing. An easy 5 stars. If you’re not reading, give this a shot.

4.5 - Really enjoying being introduced to new and cool characters like Samura I believe is his name. And the other sword bearer. Hakuri is still proving to be a valuable asset and it’s just kinda banger after banger is what it feels like. Since probably volume 2 the momentum picked up and hasn’t slowed down since and I’m not sure exactly what combination of things makes this so good but it truly is.

4.5 🌟

Listen I know I've given everything 4.5/5 stars but you don't understand this is actually just the best manga I've ever read (I've only read like 3 so). This is just all so amazing but that being said I did enjoy this one slightly less then the last one and I think overall I would put this in the bottom of my ranking if I had to rank these volumes but thats still good cause this shit is peak. I think my new favorite character is Hiruhiko like he's actually the coolest person maybe ever.

This is another all-out action installment. Hokazono knows how to draw action sequences that aren't confusing, that propel the story forward. It is the next best thing to watching an action movie (and I suspect the eventual anime will be amazing). At it's core, this series is simply good vs. evil, but there are gradations that make it more interesting. Each character has his or her own motivations and quirks.

Sword fight on the Shinkansen! Sword fight at the Ryokan! Sword fight at the theater! OoooOOoooo. Psychological warfare with paper cranes! Also there's no way around how fucking gay this all is. Magic Man x Sword guy! Yin and Yang. Everyone knows you're both bestest friends. WOO.

The art style continues to be awesome.

BUT why are we FIVE volumes behind the Japanese ?! Ridiculous. Infuriating!

This arc was starting off a little slower than the last, but it’s giving me time to appreciate these new characters. I’m constantly amazed by how individualistic each one is and how unique the new enchanted blades are in both appearance and ability! Excited to see the rest of them—in action too!

This is one of those series that just has to many names and titles of people and places 😂

I do think this has the potential of being an awesome anime… if they do the art and fight scenes right.

With the ending of JJK, I was looking for something that would scratch the same itch. I found it in Kagurabachi. I’m a big fan of the art, the magic, and the main character. I will be collecting this manga physically and when the anime starts I will have a new personality lol
