This was by far my least favorite volumes yet in this series. It was a chore to get through and committed the worst thing a book can do for me which is bore me. I kept putting it down to scroll online.
It wasn’t all bad the scenes of Yuri saying goodbye to her unborn child were genuinely sad and the art added to the sadness. Rusafa continues to be a highlight for me and is ten times the man Ramses and Kail are, both act as if Yuri is a possession not a person and both have assaulted her even if the series doesn’t acknowledge Kail did.
Another positive was the introduction of Nefertiti. I love that this series doesn’t shy away from females being absolutely heinous and evil. I don’t know what it says about me that I enjoy female villains so much.
Usually Yuri is a highlight for me but not in this volume. She was a shell of herself until the very end. Just being a victim for 85 percent of the story. Now I know she was devastated about the baby but some of her actions annoyed me. Saying she has nothing to live for without Kail revolted me and don’t get me started on helping Ramses. The reasoning behind it made sense but I don’t care after all he’s done to Yuri.
I’ll end on a positive note I’m glad the real Yuri returned to protect that little boy who stole.

I saw an early negative review. I disagree. I thought this holds up the story quite well and Yuri continues to be an excellent observer of human nature. And yes, she’s young and too eager to move on her convictions, but she always figures it out. Not a spoiler at this point but Queen Dowagers… never trust them, ugh!
Another day Another situation that separates Yuri and Kail from each other... Queen Nakia NEEDS to be defeated already like how are we still fighting against her. We had all the chances to fight her but they keep missing😭 And there is Nefertiti who is evil in this one and oh my god I just want Yuri and Kail to reunite😭
