they were so cute and then kotaro happened. i just don't like whenever someone says something about her dream or goals or future i hate it everytime (it does not matter who said it, i just hate it). i want her to decide by herself and think herself first so thats why this one was very flustrating and it also becomes clear its gonna hurt more in the future chapters too. but seriosly think yourself first satoko !

Both of them expressing their love by writing letters are way too cute. Especially Shinpei, his letter was so cute. Finally Satoko admitted that she was in love with Shinpei. I hope she will fight for her own feeling and happiness after this. And for the second male lead here... hmm. I have to say that I dislike him. 🤭

So good it makes me want to cry!!! 😭😭😭 We've finally reached a critical point where Satoko has to choose her own fate -- she has to choose what she wants because she wants it, not for the sake of anyone else's future or happiness. And it makes me so proud of her to see her acknowledging her own feelings and choosing to act upon them and change her future because of them, as opposed to continuing to push them down in favor of what she's always thought and done. Even when she's challenged by a friend that she respects and loves, she still holds her ground on where her feelings are. I think that's amazing character development -- she's such a great protagonist!

She and Shinpei are just too damn cute in this volume, I can't take them. And the art is a complete treat to the eyes. I can't get enough of Tachibana's smooth linework and expressive faces.

This volume was over far too soon! I want this entire series to come out nowww, it's so addicting!!! I love it so much, it's probably my favorite shojo manga I've ever read.

Si j’étais dubitative au début concernant les personnages et les enjeux, j’aime de plus en plus la tournure que prend l’histoire. Malgré les thèmes violents (la prostitution, le capitalisme, le patriarcat et l’assassinat), le mangaka parvient à apporter de la douceur et ça se renforce au fil des tomes. Les personnages évoluent dans leurs croyances, leurs comportements, leurs sentiments et leurs relations (Shinpei devient moins abrupt lol). J’ai très hâte de découvrir la suite puisqu’on a de plus en plus un sous-ton diplomatique qui prend place. Sans oublier de mentionner la beauté et la richesse de l’écriture et des planches.

This is my type of series. Yandere, the right amount of dark, and romantic. The bonus chapter is why I'm so into him (on paper I feel like people are forgetting you may like something in a book but not want it in real life but they never use this argument about my love of murder mysteries) this is genuinely sweet and romantic in ways that I love. Their date in this volume is just the best. I don't know that this will be a happy ending as others have suggested but I'm loving this journey.

Probably my least favorite so far, but still entertaining.

Decided I couldn't wait until April for the next installment, so I found the rest of the story beyond my library and finished it today (doing little else). I won't be adding the future installments on here, making this my last review for the series. I'm disappointed in the final chapter and would've rather it ended at chapter 78. I love a good tragedy, even those that appear senseless and only rooted in pain. But this was moreso a case of the writer seemingly unable to commit to the tragedy, attempting to half-way undo it, then ending up with some backward, misshapen thing. Character motives that were doubtlessly clear throughout the story suddenly became inconsistent, and everything that proceeded this final moment felt as though it had been for naught.

Oh well, this was still good fun. Firefly Wedding had its great moments and created several characters worth caring about. I'm excited for the anime later this year!

Agh how could you end it there? I need the next one last week! This was cute but i need more of Shinpei looking sinister or creepy 😅 Loved seeing more of Satoko’s feelings develop and learning Kotaro’s backstory.

Uf Kotaro...entiendo su punto de vista pero no tiene que decidir el futuro de Satoko, eso es algo que solo le debería corresponder a ella.

Ese final... qué estará pensando Shinpei...

I really like this series and I still think that if you like Yakuza Fiancée you’ll like Firefly Wedding. A lot happens in this volume some of it I really liked- Satoko realizing her feelings for Shinpei and the flashbacks to her younger days and some I could’ve done without- Kotaro pretty much kidnapping Satoko in a jealous rage, although I will say the flashbacks of his younger days did a pretty good job explaining why he is behaving this way but I could’ve done without it just because I just find Kotaro to be ok as a character. Overall this continues to be one of my favorite shoujo series that I’m currently reading.

No me han gustado algunas actitudes de los personajes... Satoko es una chica que nunca le han permitido nada pero ahora que ve cosas nuevas cree que porque ha sido Shinpei entonces le debe todo y claro, en gran parte si, la ha protegido pero siento que sus sentimientos están todos revueltos y los confunde y Shinpei? Nunca recibió afecto, esto que vive con Satoko es tan fuerte que se ha vuelto una obsesión, a veces hasta parece un perrito, si lo que sientes los dos es amor realmente es un amor forzado por las dos partes...y Kotarou? Pobrecito man, debe ser doloroso estar en sus situación.
En fin, ya sabía que esta no era una historia sana, se veían las banderas rojas desde el principio, solo ando sobreanalizando todo

What the ffff—

This volume left my mouth hanging. I didn’t see that coming. That poked my heart, and I wanted to cry. I want the next volume now. Huhu.

But overall, this series so far is a mix of dark, twisted, funny, cute, and adorable at the same time. I’m excited and looking forward to how the story will play out.

I am grateful for this manga for helping me get through day to day. Love it!

This volume is good, especially for relationship progression. She's finally working out her feelings and it's still toxic but hey he's working on it yall lol 😆.

Beh, che dire...la nostra Satoko si trova in una posizione alquanto complicata: il suo desiderio è sempre quello - tornare a casa e sostenere la sua famiglia -, quello che complica la faccenda è l'evoluzione dei sentimenti che prova nei confronti di Shinpei. C'è un modo per fare tutti contenti? Per raggiungere il suo obiettivo senza doversi sposare per forza? Per portare avanti una relazione che, a meno di sorprese, non verrà mai accettato dalla sua famiglia? Al momento non sembra esserci via di uscita, come le fa notare la sua guardia del corpo (anche Kotaro in passato è stato corretto a fare un passo indietro, perché i pettegolezzi stavano rovinando la reputazione e le prospettive di matrimonio di Satoko). C'è da considerare anche lo stato di salute precario della protagonista, che sicuramente giocherà un ruolo centrale nel corso della storia (ho letto in giro che in molti danno per scontata la scomparsa della ragazza prima della fine). Insomma, la nostra Satoko si è innamorata - un sentimento completamente nuovo, visto che ha sempre passato tutto il suo tempo protetta tra le mura di casa. La situazione con Shinpei rappresenta un cambio radicale per lei, un cambio dettato sì dalle intenzioni criminali della matrigna, ma che di fatto le ha permesso di fare nuove esperienze e di ampliare un po' i suoi orizzonti. Al momento direi che ci sono pochi dubbi anche sulla natura dei sentimenti di Shinpei, però lui rimane comunque una mina vagante che non si può tenere in alcun modo sotto controllo. Ergo, sono curiosa di vedere come evolveranno le cose: intanto c'è da capire se Satoko e compagnia riusciranno a lasciare l'isola, se la matrigna pagherà per le sue azioni, e se i due protagonisti riusciranno a costruirsi una vita insieme (al netto della malattia della ragazza).

The moment I had been waiting for—the one that’s been building since the last volume—finally happened. The loud squeal I let out when I saw those words on the page… y’all. I was not prepared.

Satoko has come such a long way, and this moment feels like it could truly be a turning point for her. For so long she’s been weighed down by duty and obligation to her family, but here we start to see the possibility of her choosing something that actually makes her happy. And that sneaky woman! She absolutely knew what she was doing—and honestly, I’m not even mad about it.

As always, the art is gorgeous. There are moments where Satoko looks incredibly beautiful in a way that contrasts with how we usually see her small, delicate frame in many panels. Those close-up illustrations really allow her expressions to shine.

The same goes for Shinpei. Often he’s drawn looking long, gangly, and almost wispy, but in the detailed close-ups we get to see him clearly—Shinpei the man who is deeply in love with Satoko. Those moments are so sweet.

I especially loved the quieter scenes: them holding hands, Satoko blushing, those soft little interactions that say so much without needing words. It’s romantic, tender, and honestly just perfect.

I cannot wait to see where the story goes from here.

Missió de convèncer a la prostituta número 1 del bordell perquè el nou aliat del Shinpei li compri la llibertat. La Sakoto reconeix els seus sentiments, parla amb en Kotaro per aclarir-se i ell doncs s'ho pren fatal... ^^' DRAMA que, per sort, es resol a favor de la felicitat d'ella, és a dir, en Kotaro llença la tovallola, adeu al triangle amorós i es compromet a ajudar-la a complir els DOS somnis ♥♥♥ (estar amb el Shinpei i ser d'utilitat a la família casant-se) veurem com ho aconsgueix... M'encanta, el ritme no decau mai, sempre més acció, intriga i amorrrrr :3

Satoko tries to secure assistance from an important prostitute, Asagiri, so that she and Shinpei can finally leave the island. But is Asagiri really on their side or is she merely amusing herself? During an errand for Asagiri, Satoko finally acknowledges her feelings for Shinpei, but instead of confessing to him, she runs to her bodyguard, who doesn’t take her feelings well at all.

After five volumes, the pair isn’t any closer to leaving the island than before. And it doesn’t look like it’ll happen any time soon.

the introduction of the 2nd ml and his feelings (very predictable but always annoying) kind of watered down the story a bit in this volume. I liked the fight between the two mls, but I wish Kotaro was just a protective bodyguard instead of…of courseeee in love with the fml. the tragic 2nd ml storyline is always a yawn fest for me with manga. it has to REALLY make sense for me to like it. anyway glad that’s over, i hope we can focus on learning more about Shinpei and get deep story progression. still like the story though

This series/story keeps getting more and more interesting! I can't wait to see what happens next. Satoko's life is being pulled at different directions. Between Kataro and Shenpei, she doesn't know where she needs to go. She understands her family's legacy but is starting to see what her heart wants and needs. The location is just the problem. Does she stay on the island with Shenpei or take him with her and Kataro. But, still find herself in danger from her stepmother. What a story!
