*Warning, there will be spoilers*

My purchase request for this series got approved. Boo yah! Unlike last volume, reading this fairly quickly was easy while I was waiting for a drag show. Was the content as entertaining this time around? Eh....

description

The closure for the Romeo & Juliet storyline (although I don't think the translator adapted the play text in a way that worked) in regards to Yaguchi's development was fine. But these last two volumes have made me realize something important. As Tanaka steps away from Yarichin being a sex comedy, much of the appeal of this series' shock value in the first place takes a back seat. It's not like the slice of life moments are bad per say, but given Tono's appeal as a protagonist (which continues to waver) and how horny Yarichin has been in the past, some longtime readers might gradually anticipate the level this series started with to continue to crest. Instead, it feels like the lack of R18 content parallels Tanaka's ongoing interest in this series itself due to their other projects and contracted work.

When I tell you the art in this volume was a major step down, I mean it. Daisy Jealously still had some solid face work and setting detailing, but the faces in this volume of Yarichin are the only thing that consistently look good. Backgrounds and side characters are sparsely rendered, some facial expression lack an extra punch, and bits of dialogue only show scenery and not the characters conversing themselves. I also noticed Itome's text size change between panels in the back half. Without the sex to pad Yarichin out, I don't know where the mangaka will continue to elevate the story. It makes me affirmed in the fact I sold all my volumes to an independent bookstore while in grad school.

The best moment of this volume was the brief appearance of Itome's older brother, Minami. There was a moment during his conversation with Akemi I found interesting. Now that he's married and "moved on" from high school, does that mean his sexual curiosity has gone with it? Akemi still feels hung up on how their relationship ended to the point where you could argue him now openly dating/hooking up with Minami's younger brother reads like a rebound/replacement. Yaguchi's temper becomes public knowledge with little fanfare. The biggest miss was the cliffhanger. Given how little Jimmy was in this volume, him declaring to be bothered by the Photography Club's lack of monogamy at large (Yuri at the center) feels so random???

Who knows when the next volume will be out! My interest is declining, but I feel like I have a couple more volumes left in me before I decide to throw in the towel or not. Tamura getting the brunt of the R18 content continues to be appealing even if it's already getting stale. Sorry, bias!

P.S. Tanaka really thought they ate with the hypnosis subplot...

I am SCREAMING!!!!!

Another book, years later! It was so nice to see Yuri and the rest of the club.

This one was definitely more tame than the others, but still as chaotic and full of moments that will make you smile.

Thank you so much to the author for giving us another adventure with this crazy club! ❤️

Yacchan is my favorite. Love how he finally stopped masking and showed his true self to everyone. The right people will love you anyway.

And I’m such a Tono x Yacchan shipper… but I feel like that’s not what’s going to happen… Also who would even be the bottom? They both seem like bottoms.. LMAO!!!

Honestly I know Yuri is like the favorite and basically the face of this series, but I just find his character kind of annoying except when it's in relation to Jimmy. I liked that this volume was mainly about Yacchan and Toono though. I hate how short these volumes are. I know this isn't a serious series, but the little bits we get that are more serious I love.

This series has gotten lackluster for me - there is little going on and the "spicier" scenes really feel like they are put there because that is what is expected of the manga - not to further the character development in any way.

I am too far into this though - so I will continue to purchase just mot make sure that the collection is complete.

MY SHOW IS ON!!!
I feel so bad for Itome, Akemi needs therapy. The play was so cute, I wish I got to see more of Yaguchi and Tono's fallout after the last kiss. And Jimmy needs to stop fumbling the bag xD

I can never tell if I hate this series or love it. it's so dumb but funny. But also kind of sweet at times. I am however happy to see that it is continuing. I want to see what happens in the relationships.

I hate how the books are getting shorter but I loved seeing all the clubs and part of the Romeo and Juliet, Yuri leaving the club is heart breaking though.
