As the fight comes home, Ezra confronts his past in an attempt to face his future, and Sunny struggles with a surge of unexpected feelings. Secrets are revealed, friendships are tested, and demons walk among us—can our heroes survive on faith alone?
This volume collects episodes 74–90 of the hit Webtoon Covenant!
My poor little heart can’t deal with the wait. My boys are going to Hell and I don’t know what’s going to happen to them.
I honestly love this series with my whole being. It brings religious mythos together with strong queer characters and makes an incredible story. We get adventure, magic, mystery, demons, nephilim, and so much action and fighting that it never slows down. When someone says “edge-of-your-seat,” a photo of this series should be accompanied by it.
I get weak for a man with tattoos all over his body and the fact that the blessings from angels show up as tattoos on their bodies is actually so ingenious. The MC is blessed by 3 different angels, so his body is COVERED… plus it’s ripped to the GODS! So you could say his body is tea and I want a sip! 😜
I don’t know how this can keep going indefinitely, but I hope it never ends!
This whole series can be summarized as "big children play pretend in a Shadowhunters AU"
From beginning to end, one cannot help to see all the parallels between the plot, characters and development of the series (children descendant from angels/demons, main male character is the best demon hunter in existence, the princes of hell are the main baddies... You get the pattern). The problem itself is not the clear inspiration, it is the lack of proper development of a story that makes you care about it. All the issues are either solved by the power of friendship or a random power up that comes out of nowhere and eases the plot so the main cast don't have as many problems.
Talking about characters, none of them is truly memorable. All are a blank slate of dummies waiting to be moved to their next stage and perform the same mediocre play over and over and over again. By the end, we barely get any proper closure of plots or character relationships. Along with this, the romance is so forced and out of nowhere I truly thought we would never get one to begin with, even if it was marketed as an MLM romance since the first chapter. Spoilers: the romance comes out of the blue and end up served undercooked and over salty.
If I don't give this story a lower score is because a few story beats (like Sunny's background) are not terrible and the art style is okay.
Honestly... Just read the Shadowhunters' comics.
P.D: the author has left the series on hiatus (as long as I understand), so I assume Vol. 5 as the last one in the series. If they decide to continue, I'll continue with it.
The hardest part about these books is having to wait for the next one to come out when I've finished one. The art style is beautiful, the characters are still delightful even in the face of mortal peril, and the story is full of interesting plot twists, including new back stories in this one. All I want now is for these sweet babies to get a chance to relax and enjoy each other and themselves.
It’s 3.5 stars, rounded up. I feel like many of the panels were done in a rush because illustrations looked not as good as in the four previous volumes. The story has me hooked and it ends in a cliffhanger so I’m really looking forward to the next volume.
