When retired genealogist Nora Caruso climbs into her attic in search of a family heirloom, she unearths a secret sealed in silence for over seventy a photograph of her grandfather, presumed dead, dated two years after his disappearance—and hundreds of miles from where he was last seen.
Driven by instinct and an oath she’s never known she made, Nora is drawn into a legacy of hidden names, sacred tokens, and a shadow network known only as the Rootkeepers. As she follows a trail from California to Louisiana to Italy and beyond, she must uncover not just her family's forgotten history, but the quiet war fought by those sworn to protect it.
But some truths were buried for a reason. And oaths, once broken, echo for generations.
The Rootkeeper’s Oath is a mystery of bloodlines and belief, where faith meets espionage, and the past is never truly gone.
This was a very long and intricate read. Started out as a genealogical mystery then turned into a long story. The story goes from the US to so many different countries. There are so many different names and characters that I had to read in a three day period. It was a good book.😀
I have read this book waiting for it all to become clear. I have failed miserably. The book moves at pace and although long it is an easy read. Did I understand it? No. Am I confused? Yes. Will it stop me reading other books by this author? No. Who knows one day I might just might realise what it was all about.
