Chris Almeida (also known as C. Almeida) began writing children’s stories at a very young age. Born in Brazil but currently living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Chris’ life took a totally different course when technology came into play, and the following 17 years were spent delving deep into the world of programming and web design. It was in 2010, when Chris began role playing online as a hobby, that writing wormed its way back into the picture. This time, writing storylines for the role playing group. The ideas and plots created for the game awoke the inner writer and a few months later, together with partner in crime C. Aubrey, began writing erotic romance. Now, still together, they have written a number of short stories and novel. They are currently working on book three of their series as well as several short stories. Through it all they have continued to enjoy role playing through their favorite characters.

This boxed set looks amazing! Currently, I've read one book.
My review is for Countermeasure by Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey
Hotness Rating 3 out of 5
Countermeasure is the first book of the Countermeasure series and my first read by Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey. It will not be my last! This book has it all - intrigue, smart characters, a sizzling attraction, sexual tension and amazing supporting characters. This book is definitely not light and fluffy. The characters are so well-developed that you "feel" right along with them. The story has depth and emotion that sucks you right in and leaves you begging for more.
Trevor lost his parents under what he considers questionable circumstances. They went off on a sailing trip and never came back. Their boat was found with no sign of his parents. After a brief investigation the case was closed citing a joint suicide or accidental drownings. Trevor knows better, but without further clues finding out what really happened is on hold. As an NSA analyst Trevor is privy to private conversations. It's his job to eavesdrop. When a conversation passes his way that mentions the name of his parent's boat Trevor can't help, but delve further to see if it leads to information on his parents. In doing so, he has bought himself the attention of ex-CIA agent Cassandra James. Attention that will forever change his life.
Cassandra James left the CIA after getting shot in the line of duty. She lost all faith and trust in her fellow agents. Trust isn't exactly something that comes easy to her as it is. She's now working for her dad in his securities business. She's long since given up on making him love her and would settle for making him proud at least once. But, then the unthinkable happens. He finally gives her the lead for a top-client in making sure the drug that they are developing is secure only to have all of the data stolen right from under their noses. Kicked off the case and having shamed her father Cassandra goes at finding the data and getting it back herself. Her private investigation leads her to Trevor, but not in the way she thought. She first suspected him of guilt, but now has enlisted him as her partner.
When Trevor and Cassandra stop dancing around one another the sparks fly. I love how Trevor owns his feelings and puts them out there. Cassandra has huge trust issues and this spills over to her love life as well. She knows one thing for sure that she will never trust her heart to anyone. It destroyed her father when her mom died and left him unable to even show Cassandra love. She will never give anyone that much power over her. Or at least that's what she thinks. Trevor has different ideas and he's a force to reckoned with.
I like romantic suspense, but it's a love/hate relationship. I go crazy the entire book trying to figure out who did it and don't enjoy the book as I should. That was not the case with this story. Cassandra and Trevor just sucked me in and I was along for the ride. I thoroughly enjoyed this whole story.
If you like romantic suspense, this is the boxed set for you. I have read six of the eight titles in this set and can't wait to read the last two. Each of the six books I've had the pleasure of reading were unique in their own way but all promise plenty of edge-of-your-seat action, steamy romance, well developed plots and interesting characters that make you fall in love with them. I couldn't recommend this set more!

Two Reviews - Paper Book and Audio Book for Countermeasure from Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey.
Let me begin with a small notice that was given by the authors (and copied from the Amazon site) “The Countermeasure Series also has a tie-in series called Countermeasure: Bytes of Life. This new series of shorts gives the readers glimpses into the day-to-day life of the Countermeasure characters. Although the shorts are standalone stories, they are character-driven, NOT plot-driven. Please be advised that ALL short stories in the spin-off series contain EROTIC content. They are NOT recommended for younger audience. Some of the events that take place in the short stories might be referenced in the novels and vice-versa. It is strongly advised that you read the novels and shorts in chronological order.”
I received an electronic copy of this novel from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.
This was a fast paced novel, tasting the worlds of corporate espionage, national security concerns, action, internet technology and murder all wrapped up in a very character driven story of finding oneself and love in trying circumstances.
We meet Cassandra, ex-CIA agent, daughter of a widowed Navy SEAL and fraught with doubts about her inability to ‘be good enough’ all while denying and controlling the emotions that assail her. We meet Trevor, Irish born son of two parents lost at sea, a geek extraordinaire, working for the NSA in the super-secret division that listens in and flags conversations and contacts that contain specific keywords that could damage the security of the United States.
Each character is detailed and defined with painstaking precision. I actually felt Cassandra cringe under her father’s scrutiny and harsh words. Trevor is as beautifully detailed, with the inclusion of a touch of Gaelic that is so neatly incorporated you can hear the words sing in your ear.
When the authors state that this story is character and not plot driven, they are not joking. Delving deeper into the reveal of each character is like finding a new puzzle piece that was long missing: you may not know what isn’t revealed until it is in place: and then it all makes sense. As a romance it works, although there are times when you want to shake them both and make them listen to their hearts, without being so afraid of ‘what may come’.
The sex is hot: knee quivering, satisfyingly appealing to both a man’s and a woman’s point of view – and told in both voices. While the real erotic and sexy bits are more toward the end, the emotional foreplay and sense of electric connection between Cassandra and Trevor is palpable. This is one of those books that you read it for the characters, are entertained and learn bits about security and technology from the action, and are revelling in the sexual tension from the moment Cassandra and Trevor meet. This is one of those satisfying books with an ending that will satisfy every reader, and has an open view to more. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Audio Book Review: I had previously reviewed the eBook copy of this book, and while I was excited to hear the book in audiobook format, I was also concerned about the narration. I should not have been, the care that Almeida and Aubrey put into crafting this book in the written form extended to their choice for narration. And I will gush a moment here and say that the choice of Tim Gerard Reynolds to narrate the story was genius! With a soft touch of Irish lilt in his speech, that deepens to brogue when required, his narration was the perfect counterpoint, enhancing the story while not detracting with an overly-exaggerated series of accents or tones.
This book brings forward a whole mix of genres: thriller, mystery, romance and even has some clever comedic romance – and there is erotic content, made even steamier by the palpable emotional foreplay and electrifying connection between Trevor and Cassie. While the main story centers around corporate espionage in a pharmaceuticals company and manages to incorporate IT geeks, security, the CIA and even international intrigue and black market trade deals for business gain. A little something for everyone, much feeling as if it is ripped from the headlines.
This is a character driven story, where each is revealed in little painstaking bits like a puzzle, then each piece fits and makes sense, bringing a 3D version of the character into your head. Each character is given the same deference and care, even those who feel superfluous to the main story – be warned: those who seem unimportant at first are often larger pieces of the puzzle – that piece that sits in the middle and provides the final picture. I can say that I have read all of the books in the series – finding a new thing to love about the stories with each one. This audiobook version rekindled the early excitement I had for this series, and cannot wait for the next release.
I received an audiobook copy of this book from the authors for purpose of honest review at the Heard Word on I am, Indeed. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Operation Sheba : Julia and Conrad are CIA agents. Partners for 5 years on and off the field. When a bomb prematurely detonates in Germany leaving Conrad dead and Julia in a state of shock, she is brought back to the states and given a new identity. Michael Stone is Julia's saviour, picking up the pieces of her broken heart, giving her a home and an new job in the agency, she finds peace and love with him. 18 months later Conrad shows up alive and with information that there is a mole in the agency and all the intel he has points to Michael as the mole. Julia is shocked to se her former lover alive and ends up torn between the man who saved her and the man she once loved but can't trust.
This book is fast paced, full of action and has many layers. The research involved must have been intense! I loved the multilayered plots and subterfuge. The romance part is a slow boil but when it hits it's fast and hard. I have read many of Misty's books and this is one of my favourites so far.
I have currently read Operation Sheba by Author Misty Evans and loved it, here is my review. I loved this book; it is going to be a great series! If you like romance, suspense, and action then you need to read this book. I stayed up reading this book all night because I just could not put it down. When I got to the end of a chapter, something else happened and I had to read what was next, before I knew it I was finished reading it. I love the characters in this book! Julia was a CIA agent, when her mission was blown and her partner died, they pulled her back to the United States, and gave her a new identity. Now seventeen months later, she is visited by Conrad her dead partner and ex lover. She learns that Conrad faked his death to go undercover to save Julia’s life and find out who the mole is in the CIA. Now that Conrad is back they must work together to find the mole, and try and stay alive. I can’t wait until the next book in this series comes out, I want more!
Once I read the other books in this boxed set, I will update my review.
I haven't read all of the books yet, but have LOVED the ones I have read. What could be better than hot heroes wrapped in awesome stories? This is a great collection and a fantastic deal. If you love romantic suspense, this is the collection for you.
