Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
I do love the books from this author, altho I will admit that this had me skipping pages... in this series I know that the main character Misty Sales was a research hound, lol and wanted to know all the whos, whats, hows, whys of everything but in theory,it isnt good for me in a book.maybe others who like details down to a tee might enjoy it,but I found them boring. I do however like to ask questions about everything, but this was too graphic on subjects that I as a reader didnt care for. the story was a fun read inspite of that,I just skipped those sections that were like that. I still would recommend this series for those who love Morgana Best books,if you have the same issues as I do and to do the same as I did by skipping if you want. not sorry I read it.
A Reason For Murder was an enjoyable and entertaining mystery with an intriguing paranormal twist! Fast-paced and well-written, it had an ending that surprised this reader! I look forward to what lies ahead for Misty in Morgana Best's next installment, A Basis For Murder.
I found the second book in this series easier to follow, and I'm very interested in what will happen next! Quite a mystery, figuring out what is going on! lol I'm getting quite fond of the characters of Misty, Jamie, Diva and even Skinny! :)
Misty has returned to Australia, and while still working for the paranormal magazine, she is trying trying to comprehend all the recent changes in her life. Now that she is the Keeper, she is seeing a lot of ghost activity. At this point she receives a voodoo doll at her front door. And her magazine sends her to the very haunted Morpeth for articles while the secret organization she has taken over as keeper (for her recently deceased Aunt Beth) also has a job for her to do in the same Morpeth area. The same men she met in England have come to Australia and specifically Morpeth. In her quest to solve a 150 year old murder for the organization, she learns about spirits who are saved in special jar like vessels and in turn are called upon for help by their owners. Good fortune and wealth can be obtained through these means. Once again Misty manages to solve the problem and free the spirit of the murdered man. Of course not without great risks to her own safety.
I should point out the books in this series are like mini history lessons and detailed lessons in paranormal beliefs in the history periods being discussed. It is not a fluff book, and although fiction, one has to believe a great deal of research went into each story to get the historical facts correct.
This is book 2 of a 4 book box set. I was so excited to get the box set, but I'm somewhat disappointed in them now that I've started reading them. The books are closely tied together. They literally start a new book at the end of the previous one.
I like the story, but find myself scanning ahead, skipping whole paragraphs because the author tends to run on unnecessarily as well as repeating herself quite a bit. In fact, I would give it 4 stars if not for the distraction of these things.
I chose these books because of the author's good reputation, but am hoping that this is simply a case of a bad example of her work.
